Arrive early. After 10a, it becomes very crowded. There were areas to sit which I appreciated. The staff was warm and welcoming. Be patient. It often takes a few minutes to see the paintings due to the crowd size. The beauty of the artwork is only overshadowed by the story of the man.
The museum was amazing loved everything about it and listening to the audio was definitely something I didn’t know I needed . Will do an audio tour at all the museums in the future. It added so much to the experience. I just feel like the ticket was insanely overpriced considering the actual price of purchasing from the museum sites. I feel like Viator took advantage of having same day ticket and charged almost 3 times the actual ticket price
The Van Gogh Museum was great! I saw some of his work in the Louvre a few years ago, but this museum was mainly dedicated to him. I learned more about him, his life, family and some of his mentors. There were also some Art from his mentors and friends. If you love Art, this museum is a must. You cannot bring bags larger than an 8.5x11 piece of paper in the museum, but lockers are available. The audio guide is a must if you want the best experience. You can also take pics, unlike some museums. Don’t arrive more that 30 mins before your timed ticket b/c you will not be let in earlier. Give yourself 3-5 hours if you want to see all floors with all of his works.
could not download the actual ticketes. if a nice person st museum hadn’t let me in, we couldn’t gone
You have to request for the QR code in order to get into the museum. It’s a bit of pain when you have all the plans later. So, I would recommend having this QR code as early as possible. Other than that, the whole experience visits to h the r museum was amazing.
Great experience. You see and learn so much. His paintings are awesome. Audio very useful. Highly recommend.
The Van Gogh Museum was a huge WOW!!! We did the audio tour which was extremely informative and comprehensive. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
We had a lovely time at the Van Gogh Museum. Seeing the paintings in person was much more impressive than expected. The audio guide was informative without being overwhelming, and we spent around two hours exploring.
The museum was busy but well organized. There is so much to see, and the audio guide helped provide context behind many of the paintings. A memorable experience and certainly worth including in an Amsterdam itinerary.
Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed taking our time around the museum. The collection is fantastic, especially if you are interested in Van Gogh’s story and how his work developed over the years. The audio guide was a useful addition.
A very enjoyable museum with an impressive collection. Having the audio guide made a big difference because we could explore at our own pace while learning more about the artwork. Would recommend it to anyone interested in Van Gogh.
The museum was one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. The audio guide added useful background to the paintings and helped us understand Van Gogh’s life and work. Everything was straightforward and we really enjoyed the visit.
We did the audio guide and it made the experience a 10/10. We liked that you could pick quick tour, more knowledge or intense tour. So easy to follow too. I wish that we could have put the tour on our phones and used our own headphones. Otherwise the museum is so lovingly done. You can tell that his family truly loved him.
Viator said they could switch our date and sent a confirmation. We never got an email that said it did not go through. Viator was not helpful but the Museum was awesome
Our guide cancelled on us the day beforehand. We were refunded but had to book another day with different company
They cancelled on me late the night before a 9am session. I had come to Amsterdam mainly for this exhibition so it was really disappointing.
Wonderful art immersion. Learned so much about Van Gogh and his influences through the audio tour. Highly recommended.
My flights were cancelled due to a mechanical issue with the plane. I didn’t make it to Amsterdam. Company would not give me a refund or credit for future visits
We had a wonderful time at the Van Gogh Museum. There was so much to see, and the audio guide gave us useful context as we walked through the galleries. It’s an experience we’ll remember from our trip.
I really enjoyed my visit to the Van Gogh Museum. Seeing the paintings in person was a highlight of my time in Amsterdam, and the audio guide helped me appreciate them more. I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in Van Gogh’s work.
I’m glad I made time for the Van Gogh Museum. Seeing the artwork up close felt very different from seeing pictures online, and I liked being able to take my time with the audio guide. I’d happily recommend the visit.
My husband and I visited the museum during our weekend in Amsterdam. We loved taking our time and listening to the audio guide as we walked through the different rooms. It gave us a much better understanding of Van Gogh’s life and his work without feeling like we had to follow a group. A very enjoyable experience.
After setting up a booking with you and relying on that to plan the rest of my day, including other museum bookings, I received a message from you that a technical problem prevented you from being able to get me into the Van Gogh museum, and offering Sept 27 instead, which did me no good since I was flying home that day.
The booking was canceled a night before my scheduled visit. My husband and I were at the museum entrance when we realized that Viator send me a message that my booking was canceled due to technical difficulties. Im still waiting for the refund.
we did the museum 20 years ago, this new version is outstanding, amazing experience it tells the whole story
Great museum! Lots of interesting info on the paintings. I love seeing the drawings done before the paintings
Great to have the audio tour insights and background. Didn’t realize Van Gogh was such a prolific artist
We had a rainy afternoon in Amsterdam and decided to visit the Van Gogh Museum. It turned out to be a perfect choice. We spent a couple of hours inside, taking our time with the paintings and listening to the audio guide. It was relaxing, informative, and definitely made the rainy weather much easier to forget.
We visited with our family and honestly weren’t sure how long the kids would stay interested, but the visit went really well. The museum is beautifully organized, and the audio guide helped us understand the paintings and Van Gogh’s story. It was a nice change from the usual sightseeing and something everyone could enjoy.
The Van Gogh museum, with audio guide, is a must-do when in Amsterdam. The staff were super helpful and the exhibit was amazing. I do recommend the audio guide as you learn so much about Van Gogh, his life and art.
Museum is fabulous. Knew all his famous works. Never knew the volume of his work! A painting a day is unreal.
Beautiful building. Beautiful layout of his work. Well organized with lockers and services that were convenient and speedy. I was really impressed !
I’m a big fan of Van Gogh, so I was really looking forward to this visit. Seeing the original paintings up close was completely different from seeing them in books or on a screen. The audio guide added a lot of background about his techniques and different periods of his life. I could have easily spent another hour there.
Visiting the Van Gogh Museum was one of the highlights of our Amsterdam trip. The paintings are even more impressive in person, especially the famous ones I had only seen online before. The audio guide was really helpful and made the visit much more interesting because we could learn the story behind the paintings at our own pace.
Very poor audio guide lacked information. Did not walk you through many works of art. Overall exhibit layout in museum was directionless. Fantastic collection, but the flow was not guided. You had to piece things together yourself. Unclear HOW to walk through the museum.
The voucher did not come through my phone. The people at the museum were very rude and not helpful AT ALL. What we were told was that I would have to connect with the website and take up the problem with them. Well, it was pouring down rain, I was outside, and no one was helping me at all. I could not get through to ANY ONE on viator.com. So, to me your company stinks and I will post all the negative reviews I find a space to do just that. NEVER, EVER your website for ANYTHING. Such a disappointment. If there were negative stars, I would select 1 million of them.
Very moving to see so much of Van Gogh's work in one venue
It was so organized and very beautiful I love how they take care of all details
The ticket did not arrive on time, and I had to buy a ticket at the museum. It was also 2x more expensive than just buying on site. I believe this is not worth the value and I’m seeking a refund.
Very comprehensive look at the life and work of Van Gogh. He was such a prolific painter in such a short period of time. The contrast between early paintings of peasants and Impressionistic work in Paris is striking.
I would suggest not going on a weekend. The museum was full and it was difficult to see the paintings. But the experience with Viator went very smoothly.
Incredible experience to be so close to his life and works of art. I learned a lot about him as a person and an artist. It’s a thorough and complete experience to be sure. But be prepared for big crowds! It was wall to wall packed!
The museum is very nice and well laid out. All the people working there were very helpful as well!! For me however, it was very very busy and I would rather pay more money for tickets if they could limit the amount of people that are allowed to go in. That would make it a much nicer experience. For some of the more popular paintings, there was a gathering of say 20-30 people that would stand and take selfies in front of the picture and it was difficult to appreciate the paintings with everyone trying to get into a position to see the painting and take their selfie.
We were very impressed by the audio tour we took. The information was valuable when admiring the artworks. The tour flowed and you could take as much time as you needed in each room. Would highly recommend.
Be prepared for the crowds. People standing in front of the paintings taking selfies, kissing, not moving on
Museum is great. Get tickets from Museum early to avoid sold out tickets!
This is just ticket and audio guide. Double the price of the actual ticket. You can buy the ticket from museum half the price but since the website was sold out I bought it from here. It’s basically reselling with markup price. No guide or anything.
We had a really nice time here. I knew some of Van Gogh’s famous paintings but there was a lot I had never seen before. The audio guide was actually useful and gave just enough information without becoming boring.
Better than I expected I’m not a huge art person, but I actually enjoyed this much more than I expected. The audio guide was easy to follow and made some of the paintings much more interesting once you knew the story behind them. We took our time going around and never felt rushed.
