The Ultimate Craft Beer Adventure In Amsterdam!

A great tour with Muchael. He showed us some places off the beaten track which we would never have found otherwise.

This was such a fun excursion. We learned so much about the history of Jenever. Enjoyed traveling from place to place with a VERY knowledgeable guide pointing out sights of Amsterdam and the history behind them. At the last Pub we had an included cheese tray. Our guide described each cheese and showed us the “proper” way to cut and enjoy cheese. It was worth the money for such an enjoyable time.

Michael was an awesome guide and made the whole experience fun. He definitely made the trip customized to fit our needs. It’s more than just beer. He was pleasant and great conversationalist. Amsterdam is an amazing city. It's fascinating and important place in European history, evidenced with the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank Haus, canal rides etc, make Amsterdam equal to, or better, than Paris, Rome, and London. In our five glorious days we thought we had done it all, so on our last day in Amsterdam and our trip, my wife booked the perfect ending with the Craft Beer Tour 🍺. First and foremost, our guide Michael, was far and above the best guide we had not just in Amsterdam, but our entire 18 day European trip. Not only was he the most, friendly and interesting, but his vast and expansive knowledge in not just the Amsterdam craft beer scene but in Dutch art, architecture, cultural history knew no bounds. Add to that, the best beers my wife and I have ever enjoyed, made this one of the highlights of our vacation. This established, we enthusiastically give our highest recommendation to Michael and we personally thank him for concluding our trip with an unexpected highlight of our amazing journey.

We had a blast learning about the history of the city and the oldest bars in town. Our tour guide Michael was amazing! He suggested certain beers and foods for us to try and we even ordered a second helping of the spicy meatballs! This was such a fun experience and Michael was very professional and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend the tour and our guide Michael!

Was a fun experience overall. My only suggestion is moving the initial meeting spot. Having the group meet in a large square filled with hundreds of people is confusing and there wasn't really any obvious way to identify the group. I had search for about 10 minutes to find the group and there were others who didn't show up and I suspect for that reason. How about moving the meeting place to the first bar on the list in the future? That way if people are late they can still find you and join in.

Absolutely fantastic tour! Kees was truly the star of the show—an incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and fun guide who made this one of the highlights of my solo trip to the Netherlands. Whether you’re new to beer or a seasoned enthusiast, this tour offers fascinating insights into the history, ingredients, and traditions of beer making, as well as some friendly regional rivalries. Our group of five, including four lively gentlemen and myself (the only female and a total novice), came together quickly—and the beer certainly helped! I felt completely safe and welcome the entire time, and we shared so many laughs along the way. We visited four unique bars and sampled a great variety of beers. Kees made thoughtful recommendations tailored to our tastes, making sure everyone had a memorable experience. I can’t recommend this tour—and Kees—highly enough! A must-do for anyone visiting the Netherlands.

michael was awesome. i work in Amsterdam as a chef part of the year and consider myself well informed on local spots & spirits, but i still found the tour interesting and informative (and yummy). i was really surprised how much i enjoyed myself. the tour is even interesting for those of us that already know their way around a’dam and a bar :-)

We were on the tour with Ashton and managed to get an amazing intertwining of learning about a beautiful and rich city, while also sampling its amazing beers! I never knew how much nuance the process of brewing entails and being able to relate said processes to beer I drink anywhere in the world is something that I think will stay with me forever. If you want an amazing night out mixed in with the beautiful story of beer brewing in the Netherlands/Amsterdam, this is a definite yes!

The Brews and Tales tour in Amsterdam was an incredible experience, especially for beer enthusiasts! What a fantastic way to experience Amsterdam. We were introduced to bars that we would never have found on our own. We were taken to a bunch of great bars (including officially, the oldest bar in the city), got to try out some amazing beers, hear some fantastic stories and made some good friends. Probably the highlight of our trip, Rachael is a hurricane of fun and enthusiasm. We visited places we wouldn’t have found, had superb snacks (Brian’s cheese was a personal favourite) and tasted some truly excellent beers. I book this kind of thing fairly often. I think it’s a great way to meet people and to learn a little about the city in a fun way. This has definitely been the best one I’ve done. And there’s been many 😂 Just book it already!

My new husband and I were booked onto this tour in October 2022 during our 5 day trip to Amsterdam after our wedding by my Step-Mum Lucy and my Dad - we began slightly apprehensive as it meant missing an afternoon of what ended up being a shorter trip with airport issues, but this was THE BEST part of the trip! Rachael was super welcoming and we were so lucky to have a great group of people! We would honestly never have gone into the pubs/bars we were lucky enough to go into had we not have been on the tour with Rachael and the group. The head butt (or kopstootje!) was a real way to start and got to try so many other beers we’d never have tried either. I wish I’d have taken more pics and written some of the beers down (not that we’d have found them in the UK!) because I’d love to try them again. We’re already looking at booking another Amsterdam trip and this will be the first thing we book, without a shadow of a doubt. Rachael also recommended the boat tour we did after (I will however say this is *not* a sensible idea the morning after the beer tour, please take heed of this advice! 😂) Thank you again for such a great experience, we really truly loved it and can’t wait to come back! What a great afternoon with Rachel. She took us to some hidden away gems where we wouldn't have gone to without her local knowledge. The beers we tried were delicious. Rachel herself was warm, friendly and fun. She couldn't have been more helpful, providing us with other ideas of places to go and where to eat. I would thoroughly recommend this tour!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rachael’s kindness and hospitality! I brought my mom (a non-beer drinker) on this experience and she loved every minute of it! The canal tours of Amsterdam are lovely, but this is a MUST DO whilst visiting.
