We had a wonderful trip! Cheery, the owner, was our tour guide, and she was absolutely amazing. She showed us so many beautiful places and made the entire experience even more special. The journey was smooth and comfortable, and the car was well maintained. Everything was great, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended❤️

Itinerary
Visit Zaanse Schans traditional wooden windmills and distinctive green wooden houses which were relocated there to recreate the atmosphere of an 18th/19th-century village. Duration is about 1.5 hours including visits with demonstrations at cheese factory and wooden shoes factory. Photo stop at the bank of Zaan River for the best panoramic view of all the windmills.
(This part is included in Zaanse Schans) Visit wooden shoes factory to learn about history of traditional Dutch clogs. Attend a workshop with demonstration of how clogs are made. Try fitting wooden shoes to have a feeling of wearing wooden shoes. Some free time for souvenirs shopping.
(This part is included in Zaanse Schans) Attend a professional demonstration of quality cheese-making by the staff in traditional Dutch costumes. Followed by free tasting of a wide cheese selection, and other typical Dutch treats. Free time for Dutch delights shopping.
On the way to Giethoorn, enjoy interesting facts and stories from our friendly guides pointing out of significant sights including the largest artificial lake in the Netherlands - IJsselmeer. IJsselmeer is a closed off inland bay, bordered by the Afsluitdijk (Enclosing Dike) which is the largest dike in the Netherlands with 32KM long, constructed during 1927-1932, being part of the Delta Works, Seven Modern Wonders. We will also pass by Ketelbrug, it is a bridge also a dike to get a good feeling of a dike. Unlike the largest one Enclosing dike, it is only 800-metre-long (2,600 ft) bridge opened on 15 June 1970.
Discover a Dutch village only accessible by boat on a day trip to Giethoorn from Amsterdam. Experience the "Venice of the Netherlands" where there are no main roads and all transport is on the water of the many canals. Take 1-hour small electric boat (9 people maximum) led by our friendly guide cruising around the village. Be your own captain, you can even drive the boat to experience a real local lifestyle. See the unique traditional thatch-roof cottages connected to arch-shape wooden bridges (there are over 150 arch-shape wooden bridges in the Giethoorn).

This was a great tour. It’s a very long day, due to traffic and other delays it was almost 11 hours instead of 9. Muhtki was a great tour guide.
The tour is exactly what was expected to see. It’s beautiful and interesting. It’s a long day due to distance but expected. My only complaint is the fact that I was told to go to a different hotel as the pick up place. I arrived 15 minutes before the time I was expected to be there and waited and waited. There were 4 other people waiting which booked through a different company not Viator. At some point a driver stopped to pick up people. I asked if he was with Viator and he said no. I stood next to him since he was checking the other 4 people. He knew he had one more person to pick up there but didn’t even asked me if I was there for the tour. They left. 15-20. More minutes went by and I contacted the number I was given. They said they stopped by but I wasn’t there. I explain that I have been there for over 45 minutes. They contacted the driver and luckily he had picked up 2 other passengers and was driving by again. To my surprised it was the same person and same van. I was given no explanation. No I’m sorry. Nothing. I told him that I asked if he was with Viator. He said that he missed me because I was on another piece of paper since the other 4 guests had booked through a different company. When I got on the van I was not happy. I’m not sure if he knew that he was picking up 5 people why he wouldn’t ask my name at the first pick up time to confirm with his list. The tour was very anyway. But not the best way to start the vacation.
Very nice tour. Both destinations were wonderful. Our tour guide gave us a lot of great information, but his accent and fast-paced speech made him somewhat difficult to understand. Also, it wasn’t clear that we could be picked up at our hotel. Probably our fault that we overlooked it. Overall, we would still recommend.
This trip was outstanding made by the fact that the guide Mr Mukti did an exceptional job in every aspect. One of the key things he did was to change the sequence of visits which helped us avoid crowds in Giethoorn and zaanse... It was a very successful trip
I had an amazing time on this tour and enjoyed every moment of it. The guide was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience enjoyable and memorable. Everything was well organized, and I learned a lot while having fun. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
VIP service start to finish with Cherry tours. She is a wealth of knowledge & full of energy! Passion is her middle name lm sure as she loves Amsterdam & all of its history. Showing us the out of the way places to enjoy so much of the culture & countryside. Cherry made everything special on our tour, she was even the surprise caption on our canal tour in Giethoorn & deserve a badge of honour for maneuvering around all those canals. Highly recommend this tour. Excellent value!
It was a fantastic experience, we saw beautiful places and we had great fun with Cherry! Definitely recommended! 😊
This was a wonderful and very informative day! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything about the region throughout the drive and the tour. I would highly recommend it!
Great Day Trip to Zaanse Schans & Giethoorn! We booked the Cherry Tours day trip through Viator and had a fantastic experience. The tour was well organized and covered some truly beautiful places. Visiting the windmills at Zaanse Schans was like stepping back in time, and the colorful houses and unique Lego-style architecture in Zaandam were really fun to see. The cheese-making and clog-making demonstrations were also great and very interesting to watch. The highlight of the trip was definitely the peaceful boat ride in Giethoorn. Cruising through the canals surrounded by charming houses and nature was absolutely relaxing and memorable. Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable tour and a great way to see some iconic Dutch locations in one day. The only small thing was that the diamond factory mentioned in the itinerary wasn’t covered during our tour. Travel was quiet long but otherwise enjoyed the tour. All places were too crowded unfortunately.
Marsius was an excellent guide. Always willing to answer questions and super friendly. The places are incredibly beautiful and the trip is very well organized. We highly recommend this experience.
I recently joined a group tour in Amsterdam, and overall it was a fantastic experience that I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting the city for the first time.
It was amazin trip with cherry
Lots to see and do. Driver was nice but appears to lack experience. I would recommend this activity to others.
My family and I will be making our way to Giethoorn and Keukenhop at Amsterdam. We had numerous questions and concerns, and the staff was very helpful in responding quickly and assisting us with all of them. I really appreciate it. 🥰🥳🥰❣️
Great tour with very nice guide. I could learn a lot and see very beautiful places. Mini van was comfortable enough to visit all the places on itinerary
We had an excellent day tour to Zaanse Schans and Giethoorn with Cherry. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable and well organized throughout the trip. Cherry provided clear and detailed explanations about each location, sharing interesting historical and cultural insights that really enhanced our experience. She never rushed us and was always attentive to our needs, making the day both relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks to her professionalism and genuine care, the tour was smooth and memorable. Highly recommended!
We had a good time on the trip. We were taken in a comfortable car and Cherry was lovely through out the day. The best part was the private boat on Giethoorn and we were allowed to even ride it :)
Excellent tour, Cherry was very nice and explained everything with detail. I recomend you contact her when you come to Amsterdam.
Cherry organised three 3 days tours in The Netherlands and Brussels for my mom and aunties who are all over 65 years old, she took care of them and very thoughtful. Cherry also offered a free walking tour in Amsterdam in the last day for them. They really enjoyed the time in Netherlands. Thank you Cherry for providing such nice experience to them!
Awesome host and vehicle.friendly and nice experience. Travellednin august and had a amazing experience. Recommend
Tour was cancelled. Email was sent to my home email so did not have a means to find out about the cancellation ahead of time. Lots of stress trying to figure out what was going on. Had to find a last minute alternative for our cruise port day. Would not recommend.
I had super high expectations for this experience and very much wanted to have a quintessentially Dutch experience. The day is best described as “weird”. The first stop was a great, but highly touristed and rushed in a way that left little time to overcome the throngs. Then, there was an over long journey to Giethoorn. First of all, the driver was very novice with a manual transmission, which was interesting. After an unpublished stop at a local restaurant, we went to a boat launch that was occupied by the Dutch version of a drunken tubing experience. The canals were so rowdy and crowded, that the whole thing deteriorated into a stupid bumper boats experience in a truly whimsical town. It was a bummer. Then, the guide forced us off the boat the pace the sidewalks of the town and wait in the banks of the canal. The whole day was dissatisfying and was a gigantic waste of time.
Had the best time on a small group tour with Cherry Tours! She was such a great tour guide — very attentive and passionate about her work. She explained everything about each place in great detail, was calm and patient, and took really good care of me. The minivan used for transportation was also excellent — very comfortable to ride in. I’ll definitely be back to use the service again🥰🙌🏼🇳🇱
Tour was good. But the place was crowded and unpleasant. Services in the restaurants and shops were bad - one of the worst in Europe.
The demonstration on shoe making was very good. The windmill area is very crowded and we had to be rushed to get this tour in one day. the canal boat ride was wonderful but a long ride from Amsterdam.
It was a wonderful day. Mr. Mukti the guide was so friendly and patient and provide us a lot of information from the time he picked up until back. Ms. Cherry also was guiding us and taking care of everything. I recommend this trip even for families. Thanks a lot
Amazing place, amazing views and wonderful host and guide Mukti and her colleague from Hong Kong. Sorry I forgot the name.
It was a beautiful tour with lots of information on the drive in between the destinations. I highly recommend visiting these magical areas.
While initially there were a couple of cancellations because of Viator, but we directly booked through Cherry and had Mr Mukti who was our driver cum guide. While this day is long, it's neatly divided into Zaanse Schons (first half with clog and cheese factory visits followed by amazing traditional wind mill and rural views) and lunch and boat ride and free time at Giethoorn. The restaurant (Hollands Venetie) where we stopped for lunch had amazing food. The boat ride through the village was my most memorable activity in Netherlands...it's just beautiful. Now to Mr Mukti- a soft spoken gentleman who is a fountain of knowledge and gave us so much information through the day all while driving -about Netherlands, it's history and how the water levels are managed, etc..He displayed amazing passion and energy
Today, we had a fantastic experience exploring Zaanse Schans and Giethoorn. Our guide, Mukti, was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into Amsterdam’s history, geography, and surrounding regions. Both he and the tour operator were thoughtful, patient, and exceptionally friendly throughout the entire journey. Their professionalism and warmth made the trip truly enjoyable and memorable.
Traveling with Mukti was a wonderful experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared a wealth of information about Amsterdam and the Netherlands. He was kind and patient, especially when we paused for photos or shopping. Overall, it was a fantastic trip, and I highly recommend it. We would love to visit again!
it was really amazing, though very short trip for few hrs but I really enjoyed my time fullest. Truly speaking it was beyond my expectation. special thanks to Cherry, she is wonderful, joyful and ofcourse friendly with huge patience.
I travelled with Cherry and Morgan in this trip in early June and it was very good trip. They were on time and everything was perfectly planned. The weather was good too. Will definitely suggest this for my friends. Thank you👍
Great location and our host Mukti was excellent! Highly recommend it if you like to be away from hustle and bustle.
This was a very enjoyable day. We loved seeing the windmills and the boat trip in Giethoorn was relaxing.
Excellent and super nice cordial tour operator. Cherry is awsome and excellent. Her soft and friendly attitude was impressive. She is well english conversant
We had an amazing day visiting Giethoorn and Zaanse Schans! The tour was very well organized, and everything ran smoothly. Our guide, Cherry, was fantastic — incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and kind. She shared so many interesting facts and made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged. Thanks to Cherry, this tour became one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended!
Long day but well worth it . The windmills and cheese and wooden shoes were wonderful. Giethroon was so lovely.
Very good trip .. our guide Mukti was very good .. good explanation through out .. looked after us well !
I don’t think the price was worth it. The visit to this town is definitely a must, however we don’t recommend Cherry and Travel Tours as they weren’t professional. Even though the communication was good, they changed our reservation from a Spanish speaker tour to an english one with such a short noticed with only no options that accommodate our stay, since we planned the trip months before. Also, at the end of the trip, just 5 minutes after we got into the car, we realize we forgot our sunglasses which were expensive and ask Cherry to come back but she wouldn’t because she said it wasn’t possible, however she did made a stop in a private tulip field to take photos for the other two people who were at the tour, which almost got us in trouble with the owner of the field and took us much more time that it will just going back for 10 min to search for the sunglasses. We also have to wait almost half an hour for the other two people to arrive the tour.
One should not miss this tour. It is jammed packed with nice scenary and a great way to see the country side of Netherlands. It is especially interesting that we visited a famous cheese factory (with tasting) and a wooden shoe (clog) making factory. You will regret if you don’t join. Public transport is difficult to reach Geiethoon and this tour solve the problem. We were transported by a 9-seater Mercedes Benz van and our guide, Morgan, is a great guide with patience and we learnt a lot from him through this tour.
What a wonderful day! Our guide was so knowledgeable and shared so much information with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent on this tour. Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about Holland.
Perfect and complete experience ! Cherry was excellent guide and Amine also exceptional! Good and recommended tour to do! A lot of toulips field on our route and pleasant Sunday
Cherry and her team Shahin did a great job with our tour. The mercedes van was very clean and comfortable. The Giethoorn canal biat ride was fantastic. Loved it!
This was a fabulous tour and was our introduction to the Netherlands. With the visit to the cheese factory, the clog-making and the boat tour around Giethoorn, we had a great introduction to the culture and history. Giethoorn was lovely. Our tour guide, Koen, was really great, informative and extremely helpful. We would recommend this tour and Koen to everyone.
The tour guide was extremely nice however did not know a great deal about the Netherlands. Nor the towns visited. Typically I’m use to a historical perspective on a tour or fun facts . The tour summary mentions free cheese and clog demonstration- as fyi- it is free even if not part of tour. This was a lot of money to not have tour information. But again he was extremely nice just not well trained w tour information. Would not recommend.
Aku was nice and knowledgeable. The tour was more loosely organized, the walk to see the windmills was nice as was the clog making session. The cheese shop was less of an experience, but it was pretty cool to take a boat ride through Giethorn during the off season - breaking through the ice was pretty memorable!
great experience , team is good ,place is nice great experience , team is good ,place is nice great experience , team is good ,place is nice
Our tour guide (Cherry) was very nice and provided a very informative tour! The only downside is that we didn't have a chance to go on the boat tour which was apart of the trip.
