The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.

Thoroughly enjoyed the canal cruise. Our tour guide was great!
Easy walk from Marriott. Covered boat ride through canals. Choose this since it may or may not be raining. Audio guide helpful.
Easy to do on your own - getting to & from - navigating the museum. A great museum! But the tour was unnecessary
A precise address with precise directions is needed. We walked for blocks in the rain and never found the meeting place. I caught a cold which impacted the rest of our cruise. We wasted our money as we had to buy new tickets for the museum.
The ticket says there are 2 companies you can get the canal pass with, but one of them did not accept the canal pass. A different worker was very helpful to let us know where to go.
Very large and extensive museum. Beautiful building. You need a lot of time but great art. For canal cruise I would have preferred an open boat. Cruise is right near the museum.
Couldn’t find an agent in the museum, overall decent tour. The boat cruise was nice, we enjoyed it. Thanks
The Rjiksmuseum is of course magnificent & deserves hours of time to walk galleries. But the added cruise is disappointing. The pre-recorded narration is minimal with too little history and local anectdotes.
Very nice. The explanations of every spot and premises is clear. I learned more about Amsterdam city.
We were unable to locate the tour guide at the Rijksmuseum, so we had a mini-tour ourselves. We had no idea when or where to go to take the canal tour. We called the company and found tours leave frequently. So we took one. The tour worked out fine. The snack lunch was junky. Overall, I’m not sure we would engage Blé BoT again. Jane Cash
The mesuem is fabulous with a great cafe. The canal tour is amazing and definitely worth it. Great value and experience.
The museum was unreal and a must do. But this package? Nope. Just get tickets thru the museum site. I thought this would be a guided experience, but everything about it was confusing. I saw the boat and immediately wanted to skip. I ended up even skipping the canal tour and booked with another boat (one that was open air). Save your time, book direct thru the museum and find another boat tour when you’re in the city and can see what you’re signing up for.
The boat ride was beautiful. Definitely recommended. Its the best value for money kind of tour. You have your own time to do the musuem and the boat ticket is open which you can choose to take same day any time or some other day at a specified time.
The canal ride by the Blue Boat company was a great way to see Amsterdam! Easier than walking everywhere. We enjoyed the Rijksmusem and especially the 2nd floor which has many Rembrandt’s and some Vermeer paintings. I didnt realize that the timed entry is for the museum and the canal ride can be taken anytime. So be sure to go to the museum at the stated time.
Relaxing and informative, this 75 minute tour is the perfect way to rest your feet. Costs vary depending on whether you choose a covered or open boat and day and night tour. Our hotel offered a coupon for a 5% discount at this company which sealed our choice.
Such a let down. We were simply handed ear buds and picked our language. There was no interaction. I could have researched the canal on my own for what knowledge was really provided. The captain simply drove the boat.
The Rijks museum was fabulous. However, we weren’t able to do the canal cruise because of the bad weather. There were no refunds.
Great value for combination-tour. Toured the museum, then took the canal cruise. Canal cruise staff was friendly.
The write-up on Viator for this tour is really confusing - it's just an entrance ticket to Rijksmuseum, not a tour. The boat doesn't drop you off. Also the tour said it started at 930 but it actually starts at 10am. Just really confusing in general and not very well coordinated.
Having limited time in Amsterdam made this combo worthwhile plus we had the flexibility of arriving earlier and could be accommodated as long as the museum and boat queues were not full.
Museum couldn’t scan the barcode but let me in. Blue boat had the same issue. Canal tour- audio tour missed 30 minutes of narration.
So much fun it’s nice to hear explanation of some of the places we are passing by What do it again and again?
We arrived for the boat cruise we booked and paid for. On arrival we were informed that we will receive a limited tour as a result of the PRIDE CANAL CARNAVIL. This is terrible, as we did not book and pay for a LIMITED tour. Why were we not informed prior to our arrival on the day of the tour? If we knew we would get a watered down tour, we wouldhave postponed or cancelled the cruise. We are very upset and want a refund please, or an voucher to go on the actual tour that we paid for. THIS IS THE DETAILS OF THE CRUISE THAT WE PAID FOR AND WAS A TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT. I liked the English option for the narration got to see almost everything and more from the canals. Wished we could have opened our window. Was stuck.
Rijksmuseum is a great museum and the Blue Boat Company canal cruise was a relaxing and enjoyable way to see the city.
Canal cruise was very good, food was not good , could be improved by providing sandwiches instead of chips
The architecture of the buildings, the many boats on the canals, the calm of the people makes Amsterdam a lovely city for a log weekend visit.
Seeing the Dutch masters up close…astonishing!! The blue boat crew were all very helpful and happy in their work.
The boat tour was awesome. I felt like I had the whole boat to myself as I was the only one sitting outside. The museum is overwhelming. Way too much to see in one visit.
It was pleasant being on the water and seeing the sights. The commentary in multiple languages was a real plus but the quality was mediocre. Could have been more interesting. Wish they could have said where the building was— look to your right or left. We often couldn’t find it.
Getting a booking through Viator was better than getting a booking from the museum website. The canal ride was a great added bonus.
Canal tour was amazing, highlight of my trip! Really enjoyed being able to see the city from the water.
Cruising the Amstel and seeing the Rijksmuseum was awsome. This tour was definetely worth it and they even provide snacks and drinks. A must if you really want to fully experience Amsterdam 👍
Easy access to the to the world class exhibits in the Rijksmuseum and a very interesting canal trip which being only a short walk away from the museum was easy to get to.
We got lost trying to find the boat and we didn't know it would be so far away from our hotel so we missed the canal ride. But we were able to visit the Rijksmuseum. The museum for absolutely fabulous. Sorry we missed the canal ride.
The combo museum and boat ride tickets were great since museum online booking showing tickets all sold out. Wish the instructions were more clear that you can enter museum directly with your TripAdvisor e-tickets. The post-museum boat ride was perfect and the glass dome kept us dry from the spring shower. Highly recommend
The woman running the concession booth was extremely helpful! She even gave us directions for where to get an item we forgot to pack. Very generous snack bag. Delightful boat ride. Luckily I read a review which told that the time was for the Rijks museum, not the boat ride.
I thought the boat tour was very informative and our Captain also tried to add various points as well. The boat was covered and more substantial than others we'd been on. So, I liked that and would recommend given the weather can be cold and rainy at times. The museum part of the tour was fine but it's really just museum entry (but we didn't have to wait long which was great). There was some confusion about whether we were supposed to go to the museum or the boat cruise first. The ticket seemed to indicate one thing (that cruise was first--so that is where we went). But then the boat staff told us that the cruise was an open ticket and that we should do the museum first. So, we did but when we got back, one member of the boat staff was a little curt with us--then, acting like there were no guaranties, that things might be full. She didn't seem to like the fact that we had booked with "a third party" and she wasn't that nice. She made us wait for about 40 minutes when it was clear we could have made the boat that was there and had space. But it was raining; so, we went to a cafe nearby and were fine. Really liked the tour other than office manager at the Blue Boat desk.
The museum and boat tour were both great. But the communication was a bit difficult. There were 3 meeting places listed and we weren’t sure where to go. We mistakenly went to boat tour first, luckily the museum was a five minute walk away. At the museum, it is only an entrance ticket and not a guided tour.
Boat ride was crowded and not to informative, also I was told skip the line at the rijksmuseum, the museum does not have that program, get on a line. Also the ticket reader did not recognize the Viator bar code, what a mess I don’t think I will use Viator again.
The most memorable part of this booking was the Rijksmuseum. It was wonderfully delightful. I found 2 of 3 Blue Boat employees I interacted with to be lacking in customer service and the boat tour lackluster as a result. Should I return to Amsterdam I'd do the Rijksmuseum again and bypass the boat cruise.
It was a very relaxing ride on the boat and we enjoyed our snacks. We had plenty of time to browse through the museum before the canal trip.
Not accommodating and does not response to customer concerns. I sent them an email last week regarding some concerns due to medical emergency and I have not heard from them.
Riiksmuseum very crowded but was able to get close to the paintings to see details. Boat ride interesting
I was stuck in London and y'all refused to reimburse even though I was not there through no fault of my own. Y'all should be ashamed
After searching for the blue boat company boarding dock, we were told that the time on the ticket was for entrance to the Rijksmuseum, and that the boat tour portion was good for 24 hours or so. THAT certainly wasn’t clear in ANY of the directions…. And you could also take the boat tour from any of the 3 locations. Very unclear. The ticket agent apologized but also said that they have tried to change this with Viator, but it hadn’t happened yet.
I learned a lot about the history of Afterdam. The boat moved slowly so we could detect all details in buildings and structures.
A relaxing time seeing the city from the water. The recorded commentary was informative but occasionally not clear as to where everyone should be looking, and as this is not Las Vegas why the ghastly recorded commentator with an American accent pretending to be a local? Her attempts at humour were awful. For all that it was an enjoyable journey but would take ear plugs if we did again! The Rijksmuseum is a must and exceptional, and a definite thing to do and convenient to the boat drop off mooring.
Must do museum when in Amsterdam, very good. Boat trip through canals was better than expected, captain was good, and fun watching him drive through all canals. The audio guide was a tad ridiculous, the banter between the couple doing it at least made us laugh though! Nice way to see the city, besides walking.
