I really enjoyed this private tour around Amsterdam. It gave us a better understanding of the layout of the city and what the options are with regard to tours and restaurants.

Area was experiencing severe thunder and lightning storms (in fact the airport, and I’ll public transportation have been stopped due to the weather ) Subway was closed and traffic was at a standstill, so no way to get to the site for the start of the tour. Reached out to the tour guide who informed me that even though the weather was bad, there was no way to cancel and get a refund. Doubt I’ll be using this booking service again.

Willem went above and beyond! We arrived late into Amsterdam, after our tour was supposed to start, due to flight delays. We notified Viator who notified our tour guide, Willem. Willem graciously agreed to meet us the following day at a time convenient to both of us; his tour did not disappoint. Willem tailored our tour to areas we were interested in seeing all the while filling us in with details and interesting facts about Amsterdam. We loved the tour and appreciate Willem’s flexibility in rescheduling our tour. We highly recommend this tour and we highly recommend Willem!
Just off the train, we got to know Amsterdam with the help of Phil, who was a fantastic guide for us. Phil is a double threat — incredibly knowledgeable about the city, and also a fantastic photographer and a great teacher of his craft. In 90 minutes we got a good sense of the center of the city for further exploration, and some incredible tips for smartphone photography that we put to use throughout our stay (and beyond!). We could not have asked for a better start to our time in A’dam than Phil gave us. We traveled as a family with two teenagers who can be tough customers, but they immediately took to Phil just like we did and kept referring back to things he said for days after. Highly recommend Phil and the concept of a kickstart tour like this one as a way to get your visit off on the right track. Cheers Phil!
Our tourguide Anna was so knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information while also taking us to some places off the beaten path, giving us the opportunity to see things we otherwise would never have run across. She also gave us some great recommendations of other activities and places we could visit. This is my second time booking a tour through this company and both times have been education and unique. A private tour like this is a great way to get your own custom introduction to the city and to find a wide range of places you might want to return to during your visit.
The tour with Phil was really great, even though it rained! We learned some stuff about Amsterdam and also some easy tricks to get nice pictures of the city.

Very little historical information was shared. We got lost before meeting guide. Guide states to ask whatever you’d like. But you don’t know what to ask if we have never been to city.

The tour guide, Marten, was excepcional. He told us the information from the Dutch perspective (which is what we were curious about), answered all our - sometimes ridiculous - questions with the utmost patience and he gave us advice for tge rest of our stay. This was a great walking tour of Amsterdam. Our tour guide was a native and had a deep interest in architecture, which was an added bonus.
My guide Anna was magnificent! The next day I returned to the areas we toured and I felt like a resident. Because I navigate best using landmarks I truly felt safe and comfortable wandering about on my own.
We went to the meeting spot. No one there at the appointed time. We waited 15 minutes then phoned the guide. He said he had cancelled and hung up. A bad experience.

This was a great way to get an introduction to the city. Sebastian was a great tour guide. His knowledge and willingness to answer questions was terrific. The tour was great- Anna was very warm and welcoming. She is very knowledgeable and quite the history buff when to comes to Amsterdam. This was only 90min- I chose this tour to kill some time before meeting my daughter for the evening and it was perfect. Now, I’ll return to the things that really interest me the rest of the week.
Really enjoyed Sebastian‘s tour around Amsterdam. He showed us areas we would not have explored otherwise and took us to the best stalls for poffertjes, cheese and stroopwaffels.
I was in Amsterdam in January 2020 and it was a cool 40 degrees (F). Despite the temperature, I knew I wanted to get my bearings of the neighborhood I was staying in and a chance to see the highlights since I was only there for 4 days. Meeting a local for a one-on-one tour was a great choice. I was met by a young man named Silvino (Vino) and having a local show you around truly helps to learn about the neighborhoods and some history about the city. And Vino made it fun. An engaging and knowledgeable guide, Vino would test me on what I already knew about Amsterdam and explain the city’s history. He would point out curious architecture, historical landmarks and answered my questions about living in Amsterdam and how to get around. Since it was a one-on-one tour, we were not rushing from spot to spot with time restrictions. Vino was kind enough to keep going beyond the 90 minutes. We had a great morning with Sebastian, he is an enthusiastic knowledgeable host who gave us an informative and interesting tour of Amsterdam. We covered the history.. Right up to the present day. Silvino's time with us made our day in Amsterdam special. Although I had been round the city before, he managed to give us an insight on places and the Dutch that I had no knowledge of. It was great to walk through the streets and feel like a local. His warm but professional approach made us feel really welcome and enthusiastic about his city. Definately worth it!

Marten was a fantastic guide. He was able to answer all my questions and adapt on-the-fly to enlighten me on specific areas I was interested in, including historic and modern Dutch economics, educational systems, healthcare systems, and immigration. Marten has a vast amount of experience to draw on from his three bachelors degrees, masters degree, and work experience. This was the first tour I have been on where my guide was a true subject matter expert. It also doesn't hurt that one of Marten's degrees is in History. Kind, thoughtful, and insightful, Marten was able to give me information which improved my entire vacation. I took this tour on the first day of my vacation in Amsterdam, and I felt like I was able to draw on this experience for the remainder of my time. I would highly recommend trying to schedule a tour with Marten towards the beginning of a vacation to improve your entire stay in Amsterdam.
