This was truly my favorite excursion I have done on my now 2 trips to Amsterdam. Anna gave me such wonderful cultural insight that I was then able to use as a lens for the rest of my stay. It was the first thing I did after getting off the plane and I highly recommend going early in your own trip. I learned so much about Amsterdam’s history, city planning, architecture and cultural perspectives. Afterwords, I was able to walk around the city with such a deeper understanding to so much that I saw. I liked Anna so much I even booked an additional bike tour with her around the northern countryside.
Anna was a fantastic guide - full of super interesting facts and insights that gave us so much information about the history of Jordaan and the Nine Streets. We left feeling inspired and excited to continue to explore the city.
From early booking, planning and communication to the conclusion of our three-hour tour, Anna provided us with a well-rounded and very detailed tour of Amsterdam. She led us confidently in a way that only a local could and we appreciated all her work and knowledge. We connected with her humor and her ability to connect with our different personalities. From the historical entrance to the city, we walked and learned the early navigational, architectural and geographical history of Amsterdam and its place in the world. Then as we explored further into the city and over the dams (and around the bikes) we learned about the many contributors to the city’s rich and varied past; from artists, ship builders, guild members, traders, leaders, and more. What made this tour so wonderful was how Anna was able to personalize our tour with stops at sites and sharing stories of Amsterdam’s incredible Jewish history - beyond the Anne Frank house. She even made time for stops along the way for snacks and ended the tour with more ideas for exploring her city beyond her tour. We left feeling like we had gotten to know Amsterdam in a truly unique and personal way and we would absolutely recommend Anna to anyone coming to Amsterdam.
By the time I met Anna, I felt as if we should be old friends. In our traveling group, we had so many logistical changes of date, time and number of people. Anna was cheerfully accommodating and helpful at every turn. On the tour, the pacing was great. We paused when we wanted to, but she kept us on track to ensure our personalized tour was complete. If you like a dry wit…Anna is a great choice for you! Knowledgeable. Personable. Great English communication. What more could you ask for?
We had a great tour with Anna. She was easy to communicate with before our tour and gave us an easy meeting point. She listened to our specific interests and gave us a couple options of what to see. She was very informative and kept us interested throughout the tour. We learned so much and really think we got a good feel for the history and current culture of the city. We would highly recommend Anna for any tour.
We have used many guides all over Europe, Anna was the best!… Interesting, informed and entertaining to be sure! We will book with her again.
Anna tells the history of Amsterdam in any easy style, and with some humour, giving real relevance and interest to the building and surroundings of the inner city.
Anna was an outstanding guide — knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fascinating stories. The walking tour gave us a rich understanding of Amsterdam’s architecture and history, complete with a delightful chocolate treat. In the afternoon, we booked the Rijksmuseum with Anna and toured the museum, where she brought Rembrandt’s Night Watch, Vermeer’s masterpieces, and dramatic sea battles with the British vividly to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a deeper connection with the city!
Anna is a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of knowledge of the history, architecture and culture of Amsterdam. She is able to answer every question irrespective of the content with insight and clarity.
Anna was amazing, so knowledgeable and informative. Her tour was the first thing we did when we landed in Amsterdam and it really helped us get a handle on the city and its history. Even jet lagged we were completely engaged. And she gave us some great recs for our trip that we followed up on. Aside from all that, she’s just a genuinely lovely person to learn from.
We had a fantastic time on this historical walking tour with our guide, Anna. She was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history to life with vivid stories and fascinating details. Our group came away with a lot of new historical insights and a much deeper understanding of the area. Anna's passion for history really shone through and made the tour both engaging and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone curious about the past!
We took the tour with Anna the day we arrived to Amsterdam. It was exactly what we needed to get acquainted with this beautiful city. She shared a wealth of expert knowledge on the city history intertwined with entertaining and lively stories about the past and present and answered all our questions. Despite the jet lag the time quickly went by. We highly recommend this tour.
Highly knowledgeable guide who ansvaret all our questions. I recommend this tour if its your först time in Amsterdam or just watt to learn more about the history.
We had a wonderful time walking the streets of Amsterdam with Anna! She was prompt in meeting us at our hotel in the city center. What a wealth of knowledge about her city and the history that led to the current environment. We listened and asked lots of questions which she handled all with good humor. She is a serious student of history, art and architecture but makes all that knowledge easy to understand and relate to. Nice sense of humor as well. We highly recommend Anna and hope she is available for you when you get to Amsterdam.
My wife and I absolutely loved our historical walking tour of Amsterdam with Anna! She was incredibly knowledgeable and made learning about the history of Amsterdam fun and engaging. She provided so many unique insights into the city’s rich past and was able to answer any questions that we posed to her. We could not recommend Anna and this tour enough!
Anna was an excellent guide from the beginning. She smiled brightly as we met and started telling us interesting historical facts about Amsterdam. The kind of information you wouldn't get without such an experienced guide. In the end, she helped me book a beautiful boat tour. I can't thank her enough.
Anna was a brilliant tour guide. She showed us some true hidden gems of Amsterdam and gave some really fantastic insight the city. What impressed me the most was that whatever question we asked she knew the answer! A great tour that I will definitely recommend to others.
Anna did an amazing job with my tour. We were able to walk anll over, then she was able to offer suggestions for great museums to check out after we finished.
Anna was amazing. Her knowledge and insight made the Amsterday tour so fascinating, informative and fun. She talks to you about Amsterdam's history, people and architecture.. not to mention the egneering. It was wonderful and I would thoroughly recommend. Next time I am back I will do her private art walking tour.
I did two tours with Anna -- a city walking tour and a tour of the Rijksmuseum. I highly recommend doing both because the context and learnings from from one adds depth and connection to the other. She is really knowledgeable and fun. She brings the city, history, and art to life through all the details that she weaves together. I felt like I really got a comprehensive appreciation for the Dutch culture, history, and the global events and influence that stemmed from Amsterdam. I really got a sense of why this beautiful city looks and feels the way it does. Thank you Anna!
I give Anna 5 stars. Or more. Super knowledgeable and a very fun personality. She made the paintings come alive with indepth explanations
Anna is very knowledgeable about local history and various treasures of Amsterdam. She is professional, punctual and a pleasure to deal with. I also did two art museum tours with Anna and she was fantastic during those as well. Highly recommend.
We originally took a walking tour of Rembrandt’s homes and historically significant locations in Amsterdam. Anna lead us through the city explaining Rembrandt’s life and artistic development along with related historical events and influences. Whenever we had a question she always had detailed answers and was cognizant of our interests and desires through our time together. Because we enjoyed her scope of knowledge and pleasing demeanor we booked a follow up tour of the Rijksmuseum and focused on Rembrandt and included other Dutch masters. We are very glad we spent our limited time with Anna.
We really enjoyed this very informative walk. A family between 13-60 years old, everyone was very satisfied. Thank you so much!!
Our guide had answers to all questions, and could also go into specializations. Got to see places I've never seen before. Three hours of amazing insights.
