Small local places were visited. Good variety of traditional Dutch snacks and food. Good historical Amsterdam local information made the experience more interesting.

We had a private tour with Rob on a Sunday and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was great to experience some places that locals go to. The 4 hour time allocated was perfect. There was no rush and we were able to really get the most out of each stop whilst also getting to enjoy a walk around the neighborhoods
Very authentic experience. Excellent food selections. Great history. Our guide, David, was terrific. Good value. All 3 of us in our group loved it. Highly recommended.
I did this tour on my first day in Amsterdam and it was a great way to get my bearings in the city and get ideas of areas I wanted to come back to. It was a small group of 4 of us and our guide was very welcoming. I appreciated being taken to small local shops that didn't feel touristy. Highly recommend
You get a really good example of different dishes with a history of each dish. Our guide(s) are very knowledgeable and fun!
Katrina was amazing. We had so much fun with her. By the end of the tour it felt like we were old friends having dinner together.
Great experience! Not your typical "fries/waffle tour." Guide was very interesting and accommodating. Places visited provided delicious samplings from the rich history of Amsterdam/Netherlands. Tour takes your to interesting places around the city. The food/drink options are worth the extra money. Highly Recommend this Tour.
Learn about the culture, the history, the architecture, and most importantly, Dutch food! This was my second time doing this tour, and I was fortunate to have Rudolph as my guide once again… Don’t hesitate to do this!
The tour is a fun 4hr tour full of the history of Amsdertam and some if the favorite food of the city. Our tour guide was excellent. She was funny, extremely knowledgable, and is a real local of the area we toured. She had an excellent relationship with all the vendors that we visited. She was very engaged with each person on the tour.
Skip this Overpriced Boring Same places on other tours for a fraction of the price Host was terrible
Rudolf was a great guide, fun and informative. We tried food we would not have found on our own, including apple pie, deli meats, local farmers cheese, local fish and more. Definitely recommend for some off the main tourist path food.
Exactly as explained but more food than you think- go hungry so you can fully enjoy the experience. Rudolph was a wonderful guide. Felt like we were locals for a few hours.
This was a great tour outside of the usual paths and food. Jan was informative and the food was perfect in both flavor and locations. Highly recommend.
David was a terrific guide! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Highlights were the apple pie and Dutch wine tasting. The tour was nicely paced and all the food was delicious! I highly recommend!
My husband and I did the Grand Dutch Food and History Tour. It was fantastic! We tried lots of different food and drinks and our guide, Rudolph was very knowledgeable! We highly recommend this tour!
The experience was great. We learned so much about the history and culture of Netherlands. We ate SOOOOO much food and it was delicious.
My friends and I had a great tour with David, even if it was raining off and on. Starting at a brown bar with traditional Dutch apple pie was really cool, as was going to the local butcher/deli. All the spots had interesting back stories and tasty bites. David had great tips and insights about the city as we went along. My only real note would be the tour could be tightened up some. Maybe it's my American pace, but we meandered more than walked from spot to spot. It just felt like it dragged in places.
This food tour was a very disappointing experience. I generally love food tours in cities I’m visiting. They usually provide great history and local cuisine that a tourist might not discover otherwise. This one was a four hour slow trudge around a very large block. This tour bills itself as having experienced tour guides but that’s not the case. The guide was a very young guy who seemed less than enthused about the tour mostly walking in silence with the group. There wasn’t much food included in the tour and I was kind of relieved when we were finished. I noticed a number of other similar groups also with student guides trudging around the same block. This food tour was also more expensive than most. There might be other good food tours in Amsterdam, but this one is not worth it.
Our friendly, informative guide Dirk brought us around to try various Amsterdam foods, including Apple Pie, herring, bitterballen, cheeses, etc, always accompanied with a coffee, tea, wine or beer as you choose. Everything was delicious, and Dirk gave history as well as being open to any questions. The walking loop through Jordaan was interspersed with sit down eats, so not overly strenuous for this senior. Highly recommend!
This tour was great with our host and a fun walk through Amsterdam while eating local foods! Stroopwaffles and pancakes and fish! Terrific way to spend the morning and then stroll the city. Our host was social and knew the details of our foods--apple pie, pickled fish and pickles, and Stroopwaffle, all good!
Our guide Catharina (sp?) was wonderful. One of best guides we have ever had. She is so knowledgeable and has a delightful personality.
Lots of good food and drink. Interesting history and cultural info about Amsterdam and the Netherlands.
Excellent tour around Amsterdam, good company food and bevrages. 4hrs worthy of the history of Amsterdam
This was a really good tour. All the food was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend it.
We are a group of four joining another two couples from the states. The eight of us are visiting Amsterdam. I communicated with Thijs, the founder of the operator, as I intended to give a fair review base on facts. Firstly, it would be unfair to give a one star review given all the good efforts and care our guide Mark, the operating company and the owners of places we visited had put in, therefore two stars. We have enjoyed our time with Mark our guide, the places we visited as well as friendly gestures of other guests. The culprit who left us a really bad taste with this tour and Amsterdam is a “fellow guide” / “business relation” person the tour operator had invited. This person is called Nikolett who refers herself as the “observer” intended to become a guide for the tour. The founder’s clarifications in-line with her claims. We have never had such a bad experience with a guide (or a guide to be), it was really unfortunate for the price we paid. I was prepared to introduce myself when she arrived but she didn’t bother to give any indication she was willing to do so. She is a hard to reach person to me as she chose to chat with the first couple, and later with the second couple who arrived after her. My group does not exist to her while both couples from the states are very friendly to us. We had used another two operators on Viator on the same trip which both gave us great times at the canals and windmills. My recommendation is perhaps you should check with the operator if they are inviting their own guests before deciding to join. I would rate myself as a good tipper, but not in this case. I felt insulated. I would not recommend unless you are ready for the unexpected. I accepted an apology from the founder of the operator. That does not change the bad taste we have experienced, unfortunately.
We love to start off an adventure in a new city with a food and history tour. This experience of boutique establishments combined with the rich Dutch history has probably ruined me for life … I don’t think anyone could have planned a more unique and enjoyable outing. Rudolph was a wonderful historian and charming. He set the stage for the most enjoyable experience possible! This tour was a little pricey however worth every penny!
This was the highlight of my trip to Amsterdam! This tour was a great way to explore the city and try new things. We went to eateries I wouldn’t have known to visit and ate food I wouldn’t have picked out myself, but I loved it all. Our guide Caroline was so knowledgable about Amsterdam and the food we ate, and was great company. I would 100% recommend.
Great food tour brilliant guide Rudolph very knowledgable not rushed in fact we went back to two of the places we visited as we like them so much and in one bumped into Tudolph on his day off
Dirk was an incredible host and provided a great education of Amsterdam, its neighborhoods, and food! I’ve been on many food tours during my travels, and this was definitely one of the best!
Seeing the different parts of the city and experiencing the unique food. My whole family loved the tour.
We went on this back in march (sorry just getting round to reviewing now!), and it was incredible! Really amazing food and drinks (and lots and lots of it), and great atmosphere with a local tour guide and great opportunity to meet other guests and chat. More than worth the price, it was the favourite thing I did on this trip!
Bo was excellent as our guide. She gave us such good information and was incredibly fun to be with. Our group stayed together after the tour was over to talk and share stories. It was a great day!
We sampled a good variety of treats and drinks over the course of a four hour walking tour. Our guide, David, was great, as well.
We had a lovely afternoon with Catharina and 2 other guests. She has lived in Amsterdam most of her life and told us so much about Amsterdam's history and food culture.
We had a wonderful time with Rudolph! He is so charming and very knowledgeable! The food stops we made were excellent and Rudolph had such interesting historical facts as we walked through town. Highly recommend!
We love food tours as it gives you the lay of the land and clues you to various places in the city where you might want to return. There were four of us and we opted for the private tour with David. He was fantastic. Young, energetic, and knowledgeable- his love for his city and his country was readily apparent. We enjoyed all our food stops- plenty of food if you eat it all. The one thing we did not have was the stroopwafel. I think we substituted the herring stop for that one. Herring, a definite Amsterdam favorite based on the long line of locals, was not our favorite, but it certainly was a memory for sure!
Jan was good. The food was very good and the overall tour was very good. Jan was knowledgeable and fun.
This was the highlight of my trip to Amsterdam. A really interesting walking tour and diverse food choices. We tried a bit of everything - not keen on the herring but the stop at the cheese shop was amazing. My sixteen year old nephew had a great time too.
Jan was an excellent guide. Very interesting and easy to talk to. Was a great small group and the places we visited and tastings were exactly as described. Would highly recommend!
Great way to see Amsterdam on foot and taste the foods they are known for. Each location was a totally different experience. My favorite were the Stroopwaffles.
David was a great host and our food tour of Amsterdam was memorable. We felt like local Amsterdamers with 7 stops at venues ofall sorts. All the samples were delicious and David was charming.
My friend and I had a wonderful time on this tour and our guide Mark was knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. Dutch food is another story, but it’s really not about the food, it’s more about the context in which the local foods came about (which is why one of the stops is an Indonesian place). So while the food wasn’t mind-blowing (although certain items were fab such as the apple pie), I still thought the tour was worth it. The first stop was probably the best and most unique, although all of the places are local and family owned, which is nice. However, please keep in mind that if you have dietary restrictions, other than the Indonesian stop, the other stops are just skipped and there’s no effort to find substitutes for you.
Great tour with Jelte van Koperen! Tour lasted about 4 hours. The food stops were well thought out and chosen for variety. Jelte was very informative about the city, history and of course the food. He kept things entertaining and amusing and provided just enough information. Highly recommend!
This was a great tour! I highly recommend it! Rudolph was a great tour guide. Lots of history and great local places. The food and drinks were delicious. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience.
This was a fabulous experience! I loved it so much I want to do it again! Each place we stopped was wonderful and our guide was terrific.
This was a fun and unique experience. We were introduced to Dutch specialties and provided a lot of history of Amsterdam. Our guide was outstanding and flexible. The highlight was the cheese shop!
Caroline was a great host!! We tasted some great food I would not have tried on my own. She told us a lot of interesting info and really helped with Tips on how to enjoy the food. Best tour while in Amsterdam!!
Caroline was an excellent guide. We thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge, enthusiasm, organization and the way she made the group feel welcome and at ease. Highly recommend the tour and Caroline as a guide.
David did a great job . The food and variety was amazing, spread over 4 hours. It's was great to start with Apple pie
Rodolfo was very knowledgeable and had a ton of stories to share! This is one of the best things we did during our stay in Amsterdam. Definitely recommend!!
