We do not typically sign up for guided tours. We prefer to travel on our own. However, visiting Texel Island without a an automobile is very difficult so, we decided to sign up for the full day island tour with Dutch Tours. We could not have been happier with our decision. Eva guided our small group of six people on a wonderful adventure. The tour felt intimate and more like we were traveling with family members rather than on a typical tour. Eva was warm, personable and quick to adjust the tour to the desires of her participants. A long day flew by quickly as we enjoyed Texel with our “new friends”. If you are looking for a “non-tour style”tour, I would highly recommend Dutch tours. They have figured out how to make you feel special.

The tour was great. The first stop was a German Bunker from World War Two. I had never seen a bunker up close. The boat ride to see the seals was the highlight of the tour. I enjoyed watching the seals even the lazy ones. I had booked a tour last year with Dutch Tours. When I returned to Amsterdam, I booked another tour.
Highly recommend Dutch tours!! They were great from booking all way up to the tour its self. So helpful with any and all questions kind and fun to hang out with and so prepared!! We did a full day tour to Texel island we’re I also got to enjoy an incredible horse back riding experience. So knowledgeable and allowed us to pick what we wanted to see. Snacks drinks and even extra clothes if needed there was some rain and I was able to borrow water proof cover pants for my trail ride! Even helped us pay our parking and figure that out, I can’t recommend them enough! Book through their website dutchtours.com!!
We really enjoyed spending the day with Sarah and her daughter, Elizabeth. We added the horseback riding option to our tour and it was fantastic. Nothing like riding through the woods! Sarah took us through several small villages, the beach and an impromptu bird watching stop on our way back to the ferry. In all, a great day away from the city.
Eva (and Sarah) with Dutch Tours are the perfect guides for tour skeptics. Eva is good humored, knowledgeable, clearly loves the place(s) and simply makes things easy for those without transportation who want to get a little less accessible area. She had a few favorite spots, but capacity to customize with our small group. Thoroughly enjoyed the day with my daughter and a few other travelers.
The dunes, the sandy beaches, the lighthouse, walking on the bottom of the sea during low tide - what an amazing experience!
We had an amazing day with Eva riding through the countryside as we moved to Texel Island. The drive was long but full of beauty and informational as we learned about dikes and the water systems and much more. The ferry ride over to the island is streamlined and smooth and once on the island we visited several of the small towns and explored their lovely architecture. The beaches are ready for visitors when the weather warms up. We also went on a boat trip to a sandbar where there were many seals sunning. Then a ride back to the ferry and Amsterdam after a full day of exploring. Dutch tours are fabulous and I highly recommend using them. Knowledgable and attentive with tours that are different than the norm. And they'll make a private tour if there is something special you want to do.
Eva was an amazing guide who also made transportation and the day's itinerary simple and stress-free. We had a really fun day and fantastic experience. Would definitely recommend!
Dutch Tours company was great. Our tour guide was amazing and able to answer all our questions and gave us good history along the way. Texel is definitely worth the visit.
It was fantastic and so well organised. We appreciated everything! Thank you Renske! We highly recommend the tour☺️☺️
One of the best tours I've ever taken. Loved that it was a small group experience and that the tour was customized to our interests. Our guide, Eva, was very knowledgeable of the area and had fascinating information to share with us. The highlight for me was the boat ride and the seals. Would definitely go again!
We had a wonderful day on Texel Island! Sarah was an incredible guide and shared a wealth of information. We all three (two adults and a teen) thoroughly enjoyed the day! The seal boat was a favorite, but the whole day was a highlight of our trip. Would love to spend more time exploring with Sarah and Dutch Tours and would highly recommend contacting them to plan a day (or more) and map out your next adventure!
Eva was an excellent host and tour guide on our excursion to Texel Island! She is an expert on the history, culture and wildlife and shared so many interesting facts and fun stories, as she has spent a lot of time there. We really enjoyed the drive to the ferry in their comfortable van, as there was a lot to see and hear about, along with drinks and snacks. The seal watching was amazing as was the boat trip out to the sand bars, and the stops to all the villages. This was a special day that we will always remember. Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful tour to Texel from Amsterdam and also a Seal boat tour. Eva was an amazing guide and tailored the trip to suit our likes and interest. She even helped me find the location of a house that was once occupied by a forefather. Texel is a beautiful island with scenic beaches, dunes and windmills. We throughly enjoyed the tour. Dutch tours has many interesting tours and if we had more time, I would have like to try them all!
We were picked up 7:45 am from our hotel with Sarah from Dutch Tours for a full day tour to Texel Island. Texel is where Chris’s ancestors came from in the 1630’s to the USA. Drive 90 minutes, take a ferry to this beautiful nature reserve consisting of 6 small villages. We toured a restored windmill, nautical museum and lighthouse. Then we shopped for Texel souvenirs after having lunch and Texel beer. A day to remember and cherish. Sarah was informative, personable and made our day the highlight of our trip.
My husband and I had a private tour (as this was off-season) with the co-owner Eva. She was amazing!! I asked her questions for almost the entire 8 hours of the tour and she answered each one thoughtfully and intelligently (and without ever telling me to stop!!). She is so passionate and wel-educated about Texel (and actually the Netherlands in general). And Texel is more beautiful than we imagined (as well as the scenery along the way on the trip to the ferry)!! The daylong trip was a relaxing way to end our weeklong go-go-go trip of the Netherlands and show us a completely different side of the country. (Eva also made sure we had snacks and drinks and chose an excellent place to eat lunch which was very much appreciated.). Very highly recommend!!
Interesting shallow seas and beaches. Lots of wildlife, especially varieties of birds. Seal sanctuary was great. Guide was knowledgeable and engaging with great conversation.
It was my second visit to Texel and it was even more special to share it with my sister. We saw different villages, and more sights on the island, ate a wonderful lunch, looked for birds and seals and shared it with a family from Spain. Eva made the day wonderful and relaxing. We will do it again, I’m sure.
My husband and I had a very memorable day with Eva. Depending on the tides and weather your tour might differ a bit so don’t hold them to our itinerary! We thoroughly enjoyed travelling with her from Amsterdam, across the ferry and through the sights of the island. She knows so much about the area and is a wonderful conversationalist. The optional seal tour was a definite highlight. We had high tide so got to watch the seals hunt for fish in the sea around the boat. It was an experience that was good for the soul. We also saw a lovely windmill, nature reserve and toured the small charming island towns. Included was a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Make sure you pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly - remember you can leave things in the auto when you go out to tour. This was an excellent way to get out to the sea and countryside away from the touristy tours. Highly recommended.
M wife and I are visiting Amsterdam for our thirtieth wedding Anniversary, we like to get off the beaten track and out of the city. The visit to Texel Island was ideal … our knowledgeable guide was very helpful in helping us understand the wonderful things we saw. We decided to add the seal watching tour on to the trip and we definitely recommend it if you enjoy being on a boat. Amazing trip would gladly go again.
Very stressfree but interesting island activity with a highly professional guide. It felt very good to do this activity after doing other more crowded and stressful tours in the previous days because it was very calming to get out of the city and the tourist hotspots. the beautiful scenery of walking along the sandy shores and muddy flats felt amazing. The food recommended by the guide was very good and there were local specialities available. Visiting the local village was beautiful too. Definitely worth coming to Texel, especially with this guide! We were able to take many beautiful pictures!
This tour was absolutely a highlight of our trip! Eva was a fantastic guide and showed us such cool sights. We loved having this unique experience during our vacation—truly one of a kind. A great time was had by all.
If you want to include a quick nature break from Amsterdam in your vacation plans this is the perfect company to go with. I chose the all day island tour and found myself immersed in the natural beauty of the Netherlands. I loved the opportunity to walk and birdwatch in the amazing marshlands, travel by ferry and see the tidal fluctuations of the Waddenzee, watch the activities of resident seals and gulls, and see some smaller villages on Texel. Eva provided lots of interesting commentary and even catered to my interest in plants. I hope to come back in a different season and bring my family for another A+ experience. Thank you Dutch Tours! This was a fantastic tour! We felt very safe and Sarah, our guide, was so knowledgeable and customized the tour for each of our interest. Texel is a beautiful place and it was so great to experience it with someone who knew it well. It was also nice to get out of the city and see a different part of the Netherlands. Thank you!
We had the best time on the full day tour to Texel Island! I took the tour with my in-laws and small children (ages 2 and 4) and it was even better than advertised. Eva was an amazing tour guide. She is knowledgeable, flexible, and patient. We ended up being the only booked group and she provided a completely custom experience. We walked in the mud of the Waddensea, watched seals frolic (you should definitely get the seal supplement!), ate the freshest fish for lunch, took the kids to pet lambs and other animals on a farm (that had a playground!) and then stopped for ice cream on the way back to the ferry. An incredible day trip from Amsterdam, especially with kids. One of her sons joined us since he was on a school holiday, and he was a fabulous impromptu guide for the kids. Eva even had extra warm clothes for us, which were necessary and amazing because it ended up being a very cold June day. I would 110% do another tour the next time we’re in the Netherlands, and you should not hesitate to book a tour of your own.
I had a fantastic time with Eva on the full-day island tour of Texel. It was actually the first tour of my trip to the Netherlands and the most personable and enjoyable. On this particular day, the tour was just one other traveler and me and we had a wonderful time exploring the island, including walking to the North Sea, bird watching, going to the top of the lighthouse, and much more. Eva was incredibly informative, engaging, and welcoming and I would not hesitate to do another Dutch Tour again!! I can't recommend it enough
We spent a great day on Texel Island with Eva. When asked what our interests were we mentioned birding and so Eva got us to some great spots. Any questions we had about Texel Eva answered. We took walks along the Wadden Sea and on a North Sea beach with a lighthouse. Lots of spring colors with early bulb flowers and spring lambs. We would do this again anytime.
If after a few days in Amsterdam you are in the mood for space and the sea, you should not miss this small-group tour to the island of Texel! There were only two of us, the excursion was carried out! Friendly, individual, brilliant! Thanks to Eva from Dutch Tours!
Eva is one of the best guides I have ever had. She is very good at engaging everyone in the group. Very knowledgeable and familiar with landscape of texel island. She took great care of us and it was an amazing experience.
My son and I joined this small tour with my little dog, Butter, and I can honestly say it was an iconic experience that we will always remember. We were joined by 3 other guests and our tour guide Eva. We started our journey with a pretty ride from the city through the countryside and a ferry ride to Texel. The ferry is only 20 minutes but the boat is very large, modern and stylish. Next my son and I enjoyed a lovely one hour horseback trail ride while the others went off to explore the coast. Eva even took care of Butter during our ride! After our ride we all went together to a very pretty little village with high end shops and cafes. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch together and then had a while to explore and shop. Getting to know the others on this small group tour added to the enjoyment! Later we all went to a beautiful lighthouse and an amazing beach. Eva was a great guide sharing just the right amount of info throughout the journey and we all had many laughs! She was able to help us out with some extra layers for my son who was a bit cold and a towel so Butter could play in the water at the beach. Sarah was helpful throughout the planning and booking process. Overall A+. Highly Recommend!
Excellent customized day tour including birds, beaches, flowers and food! Congenial driver and flexible schedule to accommodate our personal preferences.
I wanted to do something off the beaten path from Amsterdam, and found the full day seal safari tour. It looked amazing, so I booked and was excited for the day. A couple of days before the tour, Eva sent me a note letting me know I was the only person booked and that she would offer me a slightly changed tour that she would navigate personally. It was an amazing day–far exceeding my expectations. Eva picked me up from my hotel right on schedule, and we then went to the village of Medemblik, where we had a lovely lunch and did a tour of the working windmill there. The miller was excited to share exactly how it worked, and Eva translated his Dutch and German into English for me. Eva took the scenic route, pointing out/explaining everything to me, and the conversation was amazing. It was like two long lost friends/relatives on a drive in the country. We then went to meet the boat, and because of traffic we looked like we might be late. Eva phoned the captain of the boat to let him know, and he said he would hold the boat for us if we were by chance late. We ended up arriving on time—and the boat captain waited another 15 minutes for others to arrive. The trip along the Wadden Sea was magical. We were able to see 31 seals. The sky was stunning, and seeing the retreat of the tidal waters was mesmerizing. The boat captain then invited me into the deck to show me the controls and how close the bottom of the boat was to touching the floor of the sea. On the way home, Eva and I were having such a good time that we had dinner with her husband and three lovely children. The day didn't go as planned, but Eva and Dutch Seal Tours made it magical—more than I could ever have dreamed for. I highly recommend that if you're in Amsterdam to do this tour. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
I didn’t visit anything! I I had booked a trip on Trip Advisor called “Full day seal safari....” .I paid and I received my voucher with all information about the trip as usually ( is not the first time when I booked with Trip Adviser and till now It was all fine) . I checked the night before the meeting point. On 14 of August I was 30 minute before the trip at meeting point. There was nobody there. I asked all bus drivers about the trip but nobody knew nothing. On my voucher it was a phone number .I called and called and there was a robot. After three quarter of hour somebody answer the phone. It was somebody from Dutch Marina who told me the trip was cancelled. I was refunded but I decided not to booked a trip on Viator never ever.
Highly recommended trip. The cruise to the island village which is extremely pretty, lunch at leisure ( try out mussels ), watching seals on the low tide and finally a sumptuous dinner make the day really interesting. Our sincere thanks to Sarah & Eva for their personal touch - felt like its a private trip.
The Wadden Sea is a hidden gem--full of birds, sand banks and seals--but so hard to get by public transport or rental car that it was not doable in a single day. Dutch Seal Tours is a game changer which organized a direct, nonstop bus from the Amsterdam Central Station area with a seamless connection to a boat. Coffee in the bus and breakfast on the boat! We thoroughly enjoyed the excursion in this remote area, not least due to the organization--works as a charm. We visited one of the islands and dinner was served on our return boat trip. What a treat.
Start of the service in Amsterdam, by Sarah, then we went from surprise to surprise Everything was wonderful, top-notch organization. Thank you to Dutch Tours for these wonderful memories.
Texel love at first sight and Sarah just fantastic! Highly recommended tour! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, I hope to come back soon❤️
Well-structured hike, with the right rhythms. Sarah, our guide who also speaks French, worked to make us see everything possible and meet the needs of the various members of the group. Bravo!
A wonderful trip with individual attention from Eva, who was able to fulfill our every wish. It was an experience and we will definitely come back to Texel.
What a great idea we had to spend a few days on the island of Texel. Absolute calm, nature, thousands of birds observable in the different nature reserves of the island, etc. As is often the case in the Netherlands, the people are courteous, the streets and villages perfectly maintained and, very important to us, a change of scenery guaranteed. Contrary to popular belief, we ate very well at reasonable prices. We will return without hesitation
On the tour we took a boat to the island and we just had such great weather😍 On the island we went for a long walk and were able to enjoy the beautiful nature! Afterwards we drove to a tulip field! Definitely recommended! 🌷🌷
