Wonderful, informal, but extremely informative tour by Michael. From the broad sweep of Dutch history to little details covering the past through present, Michael is a wealth of knowledge, and shared it with us in a conversational, nature way. We really enjoyed the tour.

Christian was a wonderful host and told us tons of interesting facts about Amsterdam and it’s history. He brought us to areas not mentioned in guidebooks and pointed out numerous things we would have missed on our own. Christian didn’t hesitate to answer all our questions, even when we strayed from the topic being discussed. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a knowledgeable guide and a different view of Amsterdam !
Michael gave us a very informative and personal tour. We learned about important landmarks but many other beautiful hidden spots not even familiar to locals. The history of Amsterdam is so interesting and Michael left us wanting to learn more! Will certainly book again next time I’m in Amsterdam
We just did this tour with Michael. He was an excellent guide. He showed us 2 little secret side streets that were lovely. Basically took us thru parts of the NINE STREETS and the JORDAN area. These areas are just awesome. Quiet, pretty, with lots of little shops and cafes. But before that he took us thru Dam square and nearby places and explained their history... my sister in law and I really really liked it. Michael knew so much about the history of Amsterdam and the surrounding areas. He also did not rush.Take their tour, you will be so glad you did.
Unique way to discover the history and the beauty of Amsterdam. Christian is very knowledgeable, open minded and generous to share his interesting insight. I had a wonderful time!
I learned so much about Amsterdam during this tour. Christian did a great job. He was very personable and took me & my friends on a day tour through this beautiful city. His storytelling was fascinating and his enthusiasm made me wanting to learn more about Amsterdam! Great way to discover a city with Christian. Thank you very much!
It was exactly the walking tour I wanted, off the usual tourist path and with lots of local community stories! Besides, Christian is a humble and positive guy, it was a real pleasure to join a walk with him!
This walk from Dam Square through the Jordaan was a complete delight. Chris was so knowledgeable about the architecture and history of every spot we stopped; just enough to make it fascinating. And the Jordaan was indeed full of secret alleys, courtyards and old buildings available only to an insider like him - and us! Our guide Christian was very gracious, enjoyable to talk with, and flexible to our little group’s needs. Total pro and worth the cost and more than worth the time!
I attended this tour in May 2019, and really enjoyed it! As I was the only one who signed up for the English walking tour, Michael was my guide (while Christian led another group in German). During the walk, I enjoyed all the quieter streets and hidden parts of Amsterdam that I wouldn't have come across if I were on my own. Michael has a very calm presence and was very kind in answering lots of my questions about what it's like living and working in Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this to solo travelers and couples who are looking for a special way to explore the city, away from massive crowds.
Couldn't have enjoyed this more. Michael was very knowledgable and friendly. The tour doesn't overpromise with the title, I would have never found some of the spots we went to. I also liked the level of info and history about the places, in between very nice and friendly conversations. I also really liked to receive tips for places to visit later - which I enjoyed as well. All in all, I'd do this tour again and would also book the other tour(s).
This was a fantastic experience to discover parts of Amsterdam away from the tourists. The guide, Michael, was very personable and knowledgeable. I loved the many stories he could tell while passing by the canals and especially when discovering the Jordaan. To be recommended when you are looking for a tour that is different from the mainstream.
We were five people and had a personal tour of Amsterdam with Christian. He showed us special places that we would not have discovered on our own. Through his great knowledge of the city we learned a lot about Amsterdam and the history. Christian is very personable and we would book this tour again and again.
This tour showed us Amsterdam, not on the usual tourist routes, but with many views of hidden beauties. That was a treat, perfectly prepared.
Michael was extremely sympathetic and built up a great knowledge of Amsterdam. I liked the story he explained during the walk and their selection of amazing Amsterdam buildings. We went to an area I would never have discovered on my own. I can recommend this city walk to anyone who comes to Amsterdam and wants to discover a corner away from mass tourism.
It was a fantastic tour of Amsterdam - tailored to our needs and interests. Very individual Our very sympathetic guide Christian told us a lot of information about Amsterdam, which is not found in the guide. He also visited places not found in the guidebook. A highly recommended tour! We definitely book again!
Very nice guided tour! Just the right length and very nice narrator, we got many great tips for our continued stay in the city. Fun to see places that you do not visit normally. We can really recommend this experience!
A very personal and informative tour with many small details, especially in the Jordaan I liked it - a historical district where you would not have lost yourself as a tourist otherwise. Thank you and all the best for you!
I enjoyed an entertaining guided tour of Michael. Very competently he explained what we saw in Centrum and Jordaan. The track was well dimensioned, so you did not need any special condition. Michael is a real professional and passionate about Amsterdam, so he knew an answer to every one of my questions. Michael is very open, there was a lively, open and honest exchange. We continued our conversations after the 3 hours in a cafe. Definitely recommended!
A very great tour where you can discover beautiful places that you would not otherwise find. The historical explanations are very interesting and give you a good insight into the origin and development of Amsterdam. Christian was very well positioned and nice and he answered many questions. Highly recommended:-)!
"The Amsterdam ascent was a great experience for us, just the right entry into the city of Amsterdam. We were able to ask Christian questions that were answered very well. Also the other tips that were not overloaded touristically we looked at, thank you for that. Brigitte and Volker from Kelkheim Ruppertshain
The tour was unique. We felt comfortable and had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the real Amsterdam.
