This was an incredible day exploring the best of the Dutch countryside! Zaanse Schans was like stepping into a fairy tale with its iconic windmills, cheese tastings and clog workshop. Seeing the massive scale of the Afsluitdijk was a true engineering highlight. The boat cruise through Giethoorn was the perfect, peaceful finale—there’s nothing quite like gliding through those roadless canals. What made the trip truly special though, was our guide, Leidse. His energy, humor, and deep knowledge of Dutch history kept us entertained the entire time. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and took amazing photos for us. If you’re looking for a seamless, fun, and authentic experience, this tour is a must!

Itinerary
Zaanse Schans is a natural windmill museum in the Netherlands. You would first have a private dutch cheese factory tour to understand how to make cheese in the traditional way. You can taste more than 26 different flavors of cheeses over here. After that, we will take you to a private wooden shoes factory tour. You expect to watch a live demonstration of making wooden shoe by a traditional clog maker. After that you would have a private Royal Amsterdam Diamond tour, get to know the history of diamond cutting and polishing, and enjoy the diamond with 268 cuts. Of course you would have your own free time to take beautiful photos.
This is the first stop at Zaanse Schans. You would visit inside of this old cheese farm/factory; have a private tour to understand how to make traditional Dutch cheese, get to know the history of this cheese farm, and cheese tasting for more than 26 different flavors.
At this attraction, you would expect to see a live demonstration of making wooden shoes by traditional clog makers, get to know the history of wooden shoes, and see different types of wooden shoes. You could have wooden shoes try-on here with different colors. Of course you can take as many photos as you want.
Afsluitdijk is the largest dike of the world. You would have a beautiful photo stop at Afsluitdijk, one of the most incrediable dike in the world. At this stop, you expect to know the story of building this great dike, sightseeing North sea and the biggest inner lake 'Ijselmeer' of Holland. 【Note:The monument/this stop is at the moment under renovation, observation tower is closed. You would have limited landscape. We have chosen an alternative stop to see two sides of the dike, but keep in mind, the landscaoe is not as beautiful as before】
In the afternoon, you would explore the ‘Dutch Little Venice’ of the Netherlands. You would first enjoy 1-hour boat cruise here, which is included in the price. After that, you will have free time to explore the sights by yourself and your loved ones. If you like, you could sail your own boat, that would be more fun with your family or friends.

This is a summer tour. The weather isn’t great to experience the towns and the particularly the ‘boat cruise’ in winter. The guide was fantastic but it would be challenging when places aren’t open in the off season. Perhaps modify the tour or Tony run it in einter
Our guide Leidse picked us up in a comfortable van and provided us with great commentary of the sites we visited. He made sure everyone in the group had their needs met.
All good, kudos to erik. It was smooth, driving, itinerary, pickup and drop off. Thanks for tge experiencr.
We had a prompt pickup and shared the this with 6 others. The van was comfortable and the driver friendly and safe. We picked the peak season for the trip so all venues were crowded which made us very happy we had chosen a small trout and not a huge one. We felt we got our money’s worth at all the stops. The weather was cool and rainy but we fully enjoyed it all. We highly recommend this tour and the company arranging the tour!
Eric was an exceptional tour guide! The day was amazing and filled with many wonderful memories!!!!!
Our guide Pete was excellent. He gave us a lot of history about the Netherlands and all the places we visited. Would love for him to be our guide again in the future.
Very nice tour. Spent a full day getting to know Amsterdam and its environs. Our guide was friendly and informative.
Kai is the best guide I have ever seen. He is kind and helpful. Gave us lots of information about the tour.
The toure guide was on time and helpful. I only wish that the bus had a better air conditioning. In general, I really recommend this tou.
The tour guide was so knowledgeable and engaged with the group. Koen was very attentive to the areas we were visiting and ensuring we were informed of all activities and photo ops.
Our driver "Pete" was awesome. Very friendly and informed. Zaanse Schans was fun to see the traditional Dutch activities like cheese making and wooden shoes. Try to get there early to beat the big crowds. Giethoon is a quaint little town. Boat ride was a small boat in small canals. Many boats. Its a long day, but a small group and it was all interesting and it was nice to see a lot of the countryside.
Very nice day excursion and small group was awesome. Great way to see some countryside. Reiner did a great job and shared much knowledge.
A memorable day. we booked this tour as a group of 8 and visited the Zansee Schans, Giethoorn and passed through the Dyke. Kai, our tour guide was very nice and must say it was perfect too, very attentive in planning and he went into details as to ensure we take the most from the experience. We highly suggest this company and especially Kai. We really enjoyed it.
I will never forget the experience. It was raining but still fantastic. Our driver and tour guide Koen provided us umbrella during the tour. He too was happy taking pictures of us. He is kind and reliable. 😊
All 3 locations were very interesting , it helped that it couldn't have been a nicer fall day.The driver was very informative as well.
This was fun tour except for the pouring rain. Our tour guide was thoughtful and took care of us with umbrellas .
Leidse drove us in this tour and he's an excellent tour guide and he made the trip memorable and has tremendous knowledge
Great communication with hotel pick up. Pete was a fun tour guide. We got to explore several highly recommended attractions in one day.
Excellent tour guide and interesting places to see. The canal ride and lunch in beautiful Giethoorn Village was a real highlight. Also enjoyed the cheese and shoemaking demos. Made time to tour a windmill which was a new experience.
Our guide was very nice and really tried but we could not understand him. We had to sit in the back and could not hear anything he said. If you don’t like close quarters this is not the tour for you. We were 9 people shoulder to shoulder in a mini van. Again, guide was nice but did not need to be escorting English speaking clients
We took the tour as a family, very fantastic day with Mr Kai, would definitly book the tulips garden tour if it would be better weather, will 100% come visit Amsterdam again during the summer.
Our tour guide Koen is professional and informative. He lead the tour run smoothly,he is willing to take photos for us.The tour is very nice,we enjoy every moment.
Keon was very helpful throughout the whole tour. The car is super comfortable too and we had a very smooth journey. The places that he brought us is super interesting and authentic. Also, recommended a number of nice restaurants. Will engage him again when I’m back here
Myself and 3 others booked this tour months in advance. The night before the tour, we received notice that the minimum registrations hadn't been met and the excursion was cancelled. This left us with a void in our vacation and no time to pivot to see these sights. VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!
Giethoorn is perfect (10/10), Zaanse Schans is OK (8/10). Cheese at Zaanse Schans factory is actually more expensive than at supermarket. Afsluitdijk is good (4/10)
Koen was a joy to be with and to lead the group. Helpful and informative too. The canal ride was overcrowded and like bumper cars, which detracted from the enjoyment.
So pleasant and nice day out of Amsterdam. Giethoorn is amazing. Boat trip was very exciting, as we made it on our own. We also liked Zaanse Scans. Special thanks to our so kind and knowledgeable guide Caroline!!
Loved this tour! Koen our guide was cool, knowledgeable and flexible. And a good boat captain. Loved the cheese presentation and boat ride in Geithoorn. Great sites with great guide.
Fabulous day tour from central Amsterdam. Well organized and enjoyed the direct hotel pick up and drop off. Transport was very comfortable and Koen the guide informative without being overbearing. Weather was a bit dull but this didn’t take from the experience, lovely to experience a bit of Netherlands culture with the cheese and clog making tours, staff a tad pushy in the diamond shop. Giethoorn is a beautiful spot, can imagine it gets pretty busy at times… Hope to use this tour operator again in the future, thanks for a great day!
The communication from our guide was great. We received messages to inform us of exact pick up times. Keon was friendly and made us feel out experience of the day was important. The vehicle was comfortable . Keon was more than happy to take photos of us which was invaluable. We would recommend this tour
Koen was very friendly and extremely accommodating and gave a good tour. Unfortunately because it was a Sunday many things were closed so after the boat ride there was nothing for us to do in Geithoorn Also it was raining and it was an open boat.
The trip was just smooth and perfect. Our tour guide Koen gave a good explanation and was very flexible with the timing. He even picks us at the hotel within the range provided FOC which is a great deal but also could pick us anywhere with extra cost. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who comes here to Holland !
The whole trip was five people and I had a great day. My guide Leidse is a passionate Dutch man, fluent in both English and Chinese. He gave us a detailed description of each attraction and took our pictures. Sheephorn Village and Windmill Village are very beautiful, hope to come back again next time
