Our host was funny, witty, and incredibly warm, making the entire experience enjoyable. He gave us great insights into the history and culture of Bruges. What a lovely little city, with its charming streets, beautiful architecture, and fairytale-like atmosphere! And oh, the beer, the fries, and the waffles — absolutely delightful! A fantastic way to explore the city and experience its local charm. A must-do if you’re visiting Bruges!
Great tour, very good and comfortable bus, Victor did a great job as a bilingual tour guide in the bus, shared lots of great information about both cities and countries, including recommendations for places to try in Amsterdam. Gia was the English speaking tour guide in Bruges and did a fantastic job. Having the free time to explore, shop and eat after the guided tour was perfect.
I love Amsterdam. It’s a beautiful city, great museums and easily to walk around. You can rent a bicycle, take a boat ride around the canals, and visit the flower market.
It was a long trip from Amsterdam, but the tour guides were great! Alastair was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Also very helpful in getting me back to the bus when Google Maps couldn’t find the pin I had set. Great chocolate in Brugge !
Amazing city that is now a UNESCO heritage site! Great guide for the history, architecture, best locations for photos, food and shops!
The tour was very nice. Oxy the tour guide was friendly and helpful. Bus ride was longer than expected but Bruges is beautiful and i would recommend visiting. Only complaint is this tour does not allow enough time to see the city the day felt rushed because they required us back on bus hour earlier than expected.
This was the easiest trip from Amsterdam! Our driver and guides were friendly and professional. Our guide in Bruges, Gia, was excellent! The bus was comfy and seeing Bruges was worth the long travel day.
This is a really nice tour to experience in a day to experience Belgium away from Amsterdam. The bus ride to and from is roughly 3 hours each way. As always in Europe, carry plenty of of tissues and spray hand sanitizer for restroom stops (and a couple if single Euro coins to get in). You'll stop once at a gas station on the way back from Brugge. The bus toilet can ONLY BE USED INTO Belgium because of the dumping laws in Amsterdam. Brugge is super neat with lots of history. Gia, our tour guide was very knowledgeable! Buy chocolate from JULIE's. It is locally owned. Sylvia, who was the guide on the bus, and toured the Spanish speaking people was also LOVELY, knowledgeable and very kind!
My only qualm is I wish we had one or two more hours to explore Bruges. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
The tour director on the bus was friendly and nice. When we arrived in Bruges we were split into three groups. Our tour leader looked like he just got out of a bar, he told a few off color stories and at the end of the tour he left us in the middle of the city and said take this road straight out and it will take you back to the buses. It should take you about 20 minutes to get back. Well, we left 45 minutes to walk back and almost missed the bus. The way was winding and long. I ran part of the way because it seemed we would never find the bus. It still horrifies me to think about almost being left in a foreign city due to this inept tour leader. The city was beautiful, but he was the worst ever.
Gosia was an absolutely wonderful tour guide in Bruges! Very informative and had a fun personality making the walking tour delightful as well as informative! When she tells you where to stop along the way in your free time, she is 100% correct. Would definitely take this tour again!
A great trip to give you a taste of Bruge. We had an excellent guide who had loads of information. It was a long day but we enjoyed it.
What a great day out our trip to Bruges was. Claudia on the bus was fabulous , friendly and knowledgeable and Mark our guide in Bruges was excellent . Highly recommend this wonderful day out and Bruges should be on your list of must see !
Bruges is a beautiful medieval town. The day trip was great, but long. Our only regret was not staying overnight. Our guide on the bus and locally were born excellent and knowledgeable.
"I went alone, my experience was really bad and I do not recommend it. I speak Spanish and they put me in the English group, they left me alone in the city of Bruges because there was no availability in Spanish, so I paid for the tour and they left me wandering alone since I couldn't stay with the Spanish group to do the walking tour. They gave me neither an explanation nor a solution. I do not recommend it and I won't be back."
It is a long day and a long time in a bus but the bus was very comfortable and our hosts very knowledgeable. Travel time flew by! Bruges is unique and beautiful!
The experience was extraordinary. The guides were considerate and knowledgeable. I will book with them again.
Lovely place and day! Our English speaking guide was insensitive and outright nelectful of those in her designated group. Edwardo was most pleasant and patient.
I was 10 mins late because 2 Ubers cancelled on me. I tried to contact the tour operator called multiple times via whatsup emailed. No one responded they left without me and refused to give me a refund they suggested another tour which was half the price and was very touristy, a tour of the countryside. Being late is my fault but I should have been able to contact a tour operator or someone from the tour which was impossible. I lost money and vacation time.
My son and I took this tour. Unfortunately, it was not so great. We were really packed into a bus. We were in the back of the bus and there was no air conditioning. It was so hot that both my son and I were sweating for the entire 3 hour bus ride. Once there, we were divided into two groups based on what language the tour would be conducted. While our tour guide was very nice and seemed knowledgeable, she spoke very softly, she never stopped walking so you could only hear her if you were walking right next to her and even after we told her we couldn't hear her, she didn't do anything different. She also was very hard to understand. The city was amazing and beautiful and I am so glad I had the chance to see it, but next time, I would skip the tour. The bud ride back was a little better because the guide changed out seats and it was slightly cooler in our new seats.
Camaleon had a tour going on Saturday September 5th, which fit our plans. We had some difficulty locating the pickup site in Amsterdam, since Apple maps led us to an address that was behind the actual pickup site. "151" painted on a plywould panel with arrows was not helpful. It was only a passing couple (who had had the same experience) who alerted us to the actual location that got us there. Even then, I think better signage (maybe vendor/destination signs on poles or something like that) would have been helpful. But all-in-all we managed to find our bus, and our leader, Pau (not the tour leader, though, that was Pascal). Pau advised us on the way down about things like the drop off and pickup site (a park just outside Brugge), and when to be back (two people actually missed the return trip!). Pascal's tour was entertaining and informative. And he sent some additional information on retaurants and shops. We had been advised by friends and relatives that we should plan to stay in Brugge overnight, but our plans for Amsterdam were already set, so this was the best we could do. All-in-all, it was worth our time to make the trip, although if you're reading this, do consider an overnight stay!
We really enjoyed our trip to Bruges! The host/bus were very prompt and efficiently got us there and back. We definitely wish we had more time in Bruges, Id prefer that they adjust the timing of the day (for example start a little earlier and stay a little later) to provide another hour but I understand its tricky with the time required to travel there and back in a day. Also note that they dont allow eating or drinking on the bus so plan accordingly so you arent hungry/thirsty on the drive. For our trip it was mostly spanish speakers and we were separated off to a different guide at Bruges. Our guide Max was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour of the city. He showed us the highlights and efficiently took us through the city. We appreciated that the efficient tour because we are our own exploring that we wanted to do. We really enjoy the tour of the tower (recommend you book ahead of time), the hospital museum and you have to try a waffle and chocolates while you're there.
Bruges Belgium tour was amazing! Better than expected thanks to our incredible guide Pascal who gave us the most entertaining and educational tour of Bruges that one can ask for. Guides Pau and driver Glenn were incredible in leading the way for this tour also! Definitely recommend
You feel like you have stepped out of a fairytale and stepped back in time, it was charming, quaint and the buildings were stunning. Our Tour guide in English was superb, side note however, if you are part of the group, stay with the group and not have the others wait on you to catch up or have your Tour guide be a personal photographer for you photo shoots, this took valuable time up from the others who were patiently waiting. Be considerate, be on time and be a team player.
Bruges is absolutely stunning. It almost seems unreal. The tour was well-organized and accommodated both English and Spanish speaking individuals. There were a lot of fun, interesting tidbits, and we got free chocolate samples at one of the shops. It was a fantastic introduction to a beautiful city. I only wish we had more time, but it’s a bit of a drive to Amsterdam. If you have an extra day in Amsterdam, definitely do this tour.
Although it is marketed as English tour you have 1 tourguide on the bustrip. Mostly Spanish used by Victor on the bus.
The bus trip was pretty long, but it was worth it because Brugges was beautiful. The guide when we got there was awesome and told lots of interesting stories about the city. I just wish we had a little more time to explore on our own.
Great way to get a glimpse of lovely Bruges if you are short on time. Our tour guide gave us historical information as we made our way from Amsterdam to Bruges. Our guide in Bruges provided an entertaining commentary on the beautiful town. Good experience overall.
Headline: Best trip ever. My wife and I booked this trip not knowing what to expect. Advertised as a 12 hour trip it seemed longer than we would normally do. The reviews were great and the price made sense so we booked the tickets. We thought it looked good but we were not expecting it to be such a highlight of our holiday. First of all, I would like to thank the bus driver. Jose put safety first every step of the way. I felt safe every second that he was behind the wheel. Safety is the only thing Jose takes more seriously than his other skill set... Speed. While under total control, Jose made his way to Bruges in this most efficient way I have ever seen. He is a true professional. The bus was nice and cool and waters were provided for 1 euro. The bus was about 2/3 full with plenty of space to recline your seat to get some rest. There was a restroom on the way there but it was not available on the way home. Instead, we stopped at a service station halfway home. Next up, Ana Maria. She was our host and historian sent from God. The trip was primarily Spanish speaking but Ana Maria spoke fluently in both languages so the entire bus could learn more about Amsterdam and the Netherlands. She spoke between the two languages so well that it inspired me to learn Spanish. Three days later and I can't stop. I will be joining you on the Spanish tour next time, Ana Maria. 10 out of 10. When we arrived, we broke into seperate tours for the English and Spanish speakers. We basically had a private tour with only one other English speaking pair. This is when we met Maria, a Moscow born, Bruges local who was everything we could have wanted in a tour guide and more. She showed us not only tourist attractions but also little things that she has noticed while being a resident in town. She was incredibly informative and lead a great tour. Her love for the city truly shows. Our favorite part of the tour was the lovers bridge where I got to kiss my newly wedded wife on a true piece of history. The other couple did not kiss on the lovers bridge. According to Maria all lovers must kiss there so that leads me to believe these other two were not in love. Even if they were there as friends or colleagues... it would have made more sense to get carried away in the romance and passion of the moment. If they are a couple, they won't be for long. True love finds its embrace on the lover's bridge. If you are reading this review, think hard about who will be joining you. Don't let the opportunity to promise in the form of a kiss upon the lover's bridge of Bruges. We were allotted plenty of free time to eat, shop, and drink around town. The bus ride home went just as smooth as the ride there and the stop at a service station was well timed for everyone! Thank you to the entire team! You all were a part of such a special part of our honeymoon.
I think it is important to know that this is pretty much an architecture tour- looking at buildings and styles (which are beautiful) but we didn’t “do” anything… I would have liked more than a lunch recommendation. It was a long bus ride for very little in return. My bad for not reading up on Bruges so I could have led our family around. Mike was an excellent tour guide but you all need to give him more to work with and more to do (see the Michelangelo, for example) instead of us walking in circles and never figuring out how to get in/buy tickets!
The tour once we there was great. 1 said hotel pickup on tickets, didn't we had to drive across the city and spend almost 60E to park. 2 Should have left 2 hours earlier so we could have more time. 3 Need to be clear no food or drink other than water allowed to be consumed on bus. 5 make sure you eat something before hand because no time to eat until about 2:30 after tour.
I picked up the tour in Amsterdam going to Bruges. Anna Marie was our guide and Ernest was the driver. They were on time. The bus was very clean. They were very personable and tried to help anyway they could. Once we got to Bruges, we were divided into smaller groups, and our guide was Pascal. Who was an excellent storyteller and told us all about Bruges. It was a long drive, but totally worth it. I highly recommend the combination it made the day a memorable day trip.
Misleading information about the toilet situation. It’s a 12 hour tour and we booked it based on having facilities. The toilet broke on the bus 10 minutes into the ride and lucky enough the driver repairs it. However we were informed there pulls be no toilet service on the way back as the company only offers the toilet one way. (This is insanity. Each ride is 3 hours and 15 minutes ). After enjoying some beer and lunch in the city of Bruges it is expected and required to have a toilet. Stops ina local gas station for 50 people waiting in line to use a paid for facility is. It acceptable. The company knew their toilet was broken before to leave and departed anyway. The ride home they allowed us to use it because we had no toilet going there and it promptly was broken and filled with disgusting situation. Never ever again will I embark on such a disgusting tour. Save your money. Take a train and hire a local guide. The driver Hassan was great. The commentator “Anna Marie 2was irritating with writing between two languages constantly and also gave rudimentary information. She only spoke relentlessly for the first hour and it was a deluge of mediocre information and then was basically silent the remaining of the trip. The best part was our guide in Bruge Pascal which is the only reason I did not score this a 1 star. He was fabulous. I will never ever ever do a bus tour again because of this experience.
Chamaleon Travels are amazing right from arranging the bus ride to the site tour and back. Friendly, knowledgable and great sense of handling a group which has people from different parts of the world. Special thanks to Blanca for being such a sweetheart and guide to the entire group.
Others have said that you spend more time getting to and from Amsterdam, and that part is true. You have a nice clean air conditioned bus to nap or watch the countryside from while in transit. Once you get to Bruges, you are taken back in time to a wonderful and beautiful city. There is a lot to see and you’ll get amazing pictures. Take your time finding a nice restaurant for lunch. Some of them on them main tourist areas are just average. Use some of your bus time to locate a good spot. The tour guides are really good. Be prepared that your bus trip may be given in English and in Spanish. Don’t panic, Your tour in Bruges will be English for English speakers. Someone else will guide the Bruges trip in Spanish for Spanish speakers. Our trip was sunny and hot. The guide says most tours have some rain. Be prepared and check the weather for appropriate clothing and rain gear.
Bus ride to Bruges wasn’t very scenic although guide did provide information at highlights along the route. After a 3.5 hour ride, a two-hour walking tour was too much and would have been better if it was shorter. Our guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and personable. The chocolate from “a certified chocolate chef” is melt-in-your mouth delicious. The restaurant we ate at had excellent food and great service! Try the warm waffles with ice cream, chocolate or caramel topping and whipped cream. The small shops and town are great to explore and you’ll most likely find some treasures.
We signed up for an English speaking tour however it was a Spanish tour with occasional English translations. The entire 3 hour bus trip to Brugge we listened to Spanish with a Minute or two every 30 minutes we heard some English words. It was very annoying. And then three hours back the same thing. The bus did not have a working bathroom on the way back.. and the bus was very hot . Very little air circulation.
If, like us, you have a free day in Amsterdam, this is a wonderful experience, to get a taste of Brugge, despite the 3 hours of bus travel each way The 2hour walking tour was a great way to get our bearings, followed by 3 hours of free time, was a really good balance A beautiful old city, and with hindsight we would have stayed in Brugge itself for 2 to 3 nights, but with limited time, this tour was a great option
The drive is a long day on the bus. 3 1/2 hours each way but for the day to Belgium it’s ok. Mike the English guide in Bruges was good. All in all we enjoyed the day and bought lots of chocolate!
A long bus ride but we'll worth the time. The city is an excellent experience! Chocolates are wonderful, buildings and churches are great architectural sites, and the beer rounds off the experience.
Mike, our guide, was informative and interesting. He explained much about the history of Brugge and the surrounding area. Unfortunately we got to experience the highest recorded temperature in the history of Brugge. This made walking more difficult and much slower.
The tour started on time. The tour guide was the worst part of the tour. She was more like an elementary school teacher telling us how to behave on the bus. When we got close to our stop in Bruges there was no explanation or info about the history of the city, just some house keeping rules, walking in the old town the info was very limited and we had free time 90% of our time. I recommend people take the train to Bruges and then do a local walking tour.
Even though this was supposedly an “English” language tour, there were only 15 English speakers on the 58-passenger bus. The rest were Spanish speakers. HOWEVER, our guide, AnnaMaria, did a fabulous job of going between the 2 languages!! When we arrived in Brugge, the 15 English speakers were assigned to an English speaking guide, Massimo, who did a wonderful job guiding us through the important sites of this beautiful city. The only thing the description didn’t tell you was that Brugge is 3 1/2 hours from Amsterdam….making it a very long day — 7 hours in the coach. But the trip is very worth it to see this UNESCO protected city. As Massimo said, “the further we walked, the more back in time we went!” Truly an experience not to be missed!!
We enjoyed the day trip, however it was not perfect. Enrique was a good guide and driver, but spoke too softly sometimes. The trip entailed a 3 hour ride between Amsterdam and Bruges in each direction. The seating in the vehicle was not great, with 6 seats in the "rear" that were facing...leg room was minimal (3 seats facing 3 seats) and the actual seat room was not generous. Overall it was good to see Bruges, but the transportation was sub-par. Also, having two languages was a bit awkward, but Enrique did a good job of fairly sharing information in both Spanish and English.
We had a wonderful time in Brugge. Pascal, our tour guide in Brugge, was dramatic while telling the history of the area making it informative and fun. His recommendations were great. Highly recommend this tour.
Great experience! Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable.
Long bus ride. Should have included more sights to see. Bus should have provided least a bottle of water!
Though the bus portion is long and arduous, we really enjoyed this tour! Bruges is absolutely stunning and we had a wonderful local tour guide who knew allll of the history. We recommend finding a restaurant off the beaten path for lunch. That’s the best way to find something more authentic and less crowded.
Bruges is a must see. We were very fortunate to be on a bus off season with plenty of space and we actually went walking on our own and back on the bus. We had a wonderful day.
