Great informative tour, Caroline was an excellent tour guide would highly recommend booking with her! She was so kind, patient and very knowledgable she went into really good detail about everything. It's very good value for money definitely worth a visit if you're in Amsterdam. The tour lasted around 2.5 hours.

Marten was very knowledgeable and extremely flexible. He tailored our excursion to meet our requests and would change whenever we saw something that was of interest. My granddaughter and I both loved our tour, so I recommend him for people of all age groups.
Martin was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and professional. The experience was very moving and educational.
Marten was an incredible guide. It was a very moving experience. I highly recommend him. He is not just a tour guide, but also an historian. You are sure to learn a lot.
Carolina had a lot of knowledge about the city and it's history. She was early for the tour and provided great historical and cultural context.
Marten was truly a wonderful tour guide. He told the story of Amsterdam’s golden age and the impact WWII had on the Jewish community who lived as well as the current impacts of COVID. It was an enlightening and emotional tour. We discussed a range of things from architecture, art, and economics. Marten was very kind and open to all our questions and curiosities, it felt like getting to take a walk with my history professor. You should absolutely take his tour, I know I will when I visit again. Thank you Marten!
The description is misleading as it included “Anne Frank museum” (her picture is on the Advertisement for the tour contributing to the confusion) leading one to believe it includes a tour of the Anne Frank House but it does not. That is why we purchased the tour and we’re disappointed that it was not part of the tour. The description says it ends at the Anne Frank house (admission not included) which I interpreted to mean that I would need to pay the extra price for admission which I was fine with. However, tickets to the museum must be purchased separately and several weeks in advance. Be aware if your desire is to tour the Anne Frank House and don’t make the same mistake I did.
Our guide Ari was very knowledgeable and helped us understand the area as well as the subject of what it was like for Jews. He adjusted his schedule to meet ours and made it very interesting!
We had a very informative tour. Marten has a thorough knowledge of Amsterdam and his knowledge of the history of the Jews during the war years is incredible
Tour guide 45 minutes late. During the tour, she walked fast ahead of us in spite of being asked to slow down multiple times and tended to go 6-10 feet ahead of us. She walked in busy bike paths when there was sidewalk and she crossed against red lights with traffic, left us on the other side while we waited to be safe with crossing busy intersections. She was asked to speak next to us so we could hear her better and she did not. She had to be asked to stop so we could take photos. She pointed out the buildings and was repeatedly asked to discuss architectural and historical information, she did not. When directly asked questions she was evasive or said that she did know. Based on the information from you website we did not go in any of the free stops along the way and some facilities were closed due to her being late. In fact, she was unsure what the tour was to include until we showed her the printout of trip expectations from the website.
I have long been interested in Anne Frank and have read her diary several times, visited the Anne Frank House and Museum, and seen films and documentaries. Because I wanted more in depth information, I signed up for a walking tour of the neighborhood where the Franks lived prior to going into hiding. The tour was given by Rian Verhoeven , an author who has done extensive original research and has published books on the subject. Among the sights I saw were the apartment building where the Franks lived in Amsterdam after leaving Germany, the Montessori school Anne attended, and even the shop where her diary was purchased. Rian discussed Anne, her family, and the others in the Secret Annex within the context of the German occupation of the Netherlands and its effect on the Dutch Jewish community. Rian answered my many questions in copious detail based on her considerable knowledge. I highly recommend this tour even to those, like me, who are already well familiar with the story of Anne.
Provided informative description of historical events and lives of Jewish residents as well as description of historic neighborhood and changes resulting from Nazi occupation.
Thinking I had purchased tickets to the Anne Frank house and finding out we were not going to see her house and walking around the city instead. I felt manipulated by a website into purchasing the wrong tickets. Anna did a great job with our tour
Aramahba was really knowledgeable and we enjoyed spending the afternoon with him. Amsterdam is such a beautiful place with such an interesting history. We were really glad to have learned more about it.
Trip was cancelled the day before it was suppose to occur. We could not go the following day. Very unfortunate
Viator refused to refund us for this tour even though the guide no-showed as we were there early and waited past the time for the meeting. Yet we were charged for this tour. It was pouring rain - likely the reason why the tour guide no-showed. This is incredibly frustrating. We not only showed up at the proper time but we waited in front of the main entrance of the Tuschinski Cinema as instructed. In case there is any doubt, this receipt proves we took an uber from our hotel to the designated spot. I would not trust this tour guide going forward, nor Viator. After spending over $750 on Viator tours (6 of them) on this trip - their lack of customer service - when it counts - really leaves a bad taste.
This was a three hour walking tour of the the Jewish quarters of Amsterdam, it was only my wife and myself which was perfect. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the WW2 history of the area. After the tour was over she showed us where the stores we wanted to visit were located, and how to found the metro station for our return to our hotel.
This was a great tour. Well worth the time. I was very moving to see places from history. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and not only told us about Jewish history, Anne Frank, she also told us about the history of Amsterdam itself. She was friendly and patient. Don’t forget ticket for the Anne Frank house which you have to get separately. Thought I had read about it time and again, actually seeing it was moving beyond words.
Marten, our guide, was very friendly and very informative. The almost three hours disappeared and he told the history and stories of the Jewish culture and Amsterdam history. He pointed out many items we plan to revisit. At end he showed us where the Anne Frank museum was ( must buy on line separately- do at least thirty days ahead) and pointed us to a great lunch spot. Highly recommend this tour. Thanks Marten!
Marten was a great Dutch guide. His knowledge is deep, he is very friendly and adapts to visitors' needs.
Very good tour. Our guide, Patrick, was very attentive and provided us with very rich information, as well as always providing thoughtful answers to the most variate questions. The tour is a bit long but not at all tiring, with a stop for a nice café (ask for "classical" café instead of "local", it is charming!). The tour takes you a bit outside of the crowded center and into the city's WW2 experiences, providing much historical and cultural background.
Last week we, my daughter of 13 and me, had a great afternoon in the center of Amsterdam with Marten. We booked the tour about Anne Frank and the Jews in WW II. Marten is a very relaxed guide who knows a lot about the history of Amsterdam and he tells it all in a very enthusiastic way! My daughter also liked the tour very much, we really had a great afternoon and can only highly recommend Marten! He also does bicycle tours in Amsterdam and the surrounding areas and you can even hire him for a tour through The Netherlands!
if you are looking for a guide who is punctual, bubbly, full of history and good humor, I highly recommend martin! good knowledge of both history and Dutch culture! I will never forget this tour! I love Amsterdam! Here’s a picture from the tour.
Carolina was an absolute pleasure. We spent over three hours in great detail in the Jewish Quarters. Carolina was knowledgeable, fun, and energetic. We had a lovely afternoon!
My daughter and I traveled in January, took this tour early the morning after we arrived. It was a leisurely walk, and the guide was very informative. My daughter was 12 at the time, and the guide was careful to tailor information to that age and expand where I encouraged. It was a great few hours.
The tour was way too long. I could have missed a few stops and would have been fine. Maybe it was because it was a very very cold day and the tour seemed endless. Maybe 2 hours max.
This tour was not what we expected. Long walk and he guide did not have the desired quality, he could not answer most of our questions about Jewish history. Given the high price we expected more. Also no entrance to Anne Frank House included.
While you don’t go inside the Anne Frank house in this tour, it’s still a good worthwhile tour. I learned so much about the Jewish people of Amsterdam and how the war affected the country as a whole. Saw some great landmarks too.
We started off with us going to the wrong pick up point. Ente's directions told us the pick up point which we went to, but then I looked at the Viator booking and it listed a different pick up point, so we half ran to the Viator pick up point and got a call from Ente. Yes, he was at the first pick up point. However, within minutes Ente came to us and off we went. Ente was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered any question and walked at a pace that was comfortable. He gave us information on other things to do and see and general advice on how to use the Trams, etc. In all, it was a very good tour and helped get us acclimated to the city and prepare us for our adventures on our own.
He is a wonderful tour guide and very interesting. Our walk around the Jewish quarter was great. We were glad for the time we had with him. Thanks Steyn, Carole and Rachel
Our guide was outstanding. It was an extended walking tour, Having visited the Anne Frank house the day before on our own the walking tour focused on Jewish history/sights in Amsterdam and Holocaust impact on Amsterdam. Parts were very moving as related to the Holacaust
Carolina was terrific. She knows her stuff and was able to share her love of Amsterdam with us in clear English. If there was another tour and Carolina was leading,,,we would sign up. All four of us agree. Thank you Carolina
Our guide was very good and most knowledgable about the time period and events surrounding the dreadful two years of the Frank family’s hiding from Hitler’s Gestapo. She was able to help us gain a critical sense of the environment and living situation of the family. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL FOR POTENTIAL TOUR PARTICIPANTS TO REALIZE THAT THIS TOUR DOES NOT OFFER ACCESS TO THE ANNE FRANK HOUSE....THAT TOUR WHICH IS A “must see” EXPERIENCE MUST BE BOOKED DIRECTLY WITH THE ANNE FRANK HOUSE ITSELF. The Viator tour is critical to experience before entering the Anne Frank House...the cost and time required is well worth it in the long run.
Easy to book. Steyn was a great guide. Very knowledgeable about Jewish history in Amsterdam and also Amsterdam history in general. Easy to talk with. Highly recommend Steyn as your guide.
booked a tour with Steyn for our family - my husband and myself with our two children (ages 11 & 12)- and I can't recommend this enough. Steyn was incredibly knowledgable, knowing the answers to many difficult questions that we asked him and did a fantastic job of making the tour interesting for adults and children. The tour was of the Jewish Quarter and Steyn did a wonderful job of customizing our tour to hit all of the areas, while focusing on the aspects that were most interesting to us. Don't miss an opportunity to make the most of your visit to Amsterdam!
My daughter, granddaughter and myself loved our tour through the Jewish Quarter with our wonderful guide Ente. He had so many interesting things to share with us and we had lots of questions which then developed into fascinating discussions about history, culture and people. This tour was worth every cent!
Ente was one tour guide who impressed us with his knowledge of both cultural and historical aspects of Amsterdam
we were very disappointed on this tour we were promised by Viator agent that we can visit Anne Frank house if we requested it to the private tourist guide it is even printed on your descriptions of private tour so when we talked to him he said he cannot do it , the tour is so tiring we walked almost 2hrs but the guide Stein is very professional , knowledgeable and helpful
We were very pleased with our Jewish History Tour in Amsterdam. Patrick is charming, has excellent English and really knew his subject which he treated in a very respectful way and sensitive way. He was very helpful and informative. When we visit Holland again we hope to book him for a tour of the Jordan district.
