Itinerary
Begin your tour by the Anne Frank House (Exterior Only), where Anne, her family, and four others hid from the Nazis for two years. Learn about their lives in hiding,
See the statue of Anne Frank, a tribute to the young diarist, set against the backdrop of Westerkerk, the 17th-century church whose bells she found both a comfort and a reminder of the world beyond the attic.
Visit the first memorial in the world dedicated to persecuted LGBTQ+ individuals, commemorating those who lost their lives under the Nazi regime.
Walk through Amsterdam’s historic main square, where the Nazi recruitment office once stood. Pay your respects at the National Monument, a cenotaph honoring victims of World War II and later conflicts.
Learn about this Dutch Jewish philosopher whose rationalist ideas on religion and politics were considered radical for his time and later influenced the Enlightenment.
Jewish Resistance Monument (Joods Verzetsmonument) Erected in 1988 to commemorate Jewish resistance fighters who lost their lives during World War II. This site marks the first mass protest against Nazi occupation
Pause at this subtle yet moving sidewalk monument, where stones trace the outline of the orphanage from which Jewish children and their caretakers were deported to Sobibor in 1943.
Admire what was once the world’s largest synagogue in the world, a symbol of Amsterdam’s once-thriving Jewish community. Across the street, the Jewish Museum offers a deeper insight into Jewish life, history, and culture in the Netherlands.
Reflect at this powerful statue, commemorating the February Strike of 1941, when thousands of workers staged the first public protest in occupied Europe against Nazi persecution. (10 minutes)
A small but poignant monument honoring Jewish deaf and hard-of-hearing victims, labeled as “Untermenschen” by the Nazis and systematically murdered. (10 minutes)
In a quiet corner of Wertheimpark, this shattered mirror memorial reflects the sky, symbolizing how the heavens themselves were broken by the horrors of Auschwitz and other concentration camps.
National Holocaust Memorial & Stumbling Stones Visit the National Holocaust Names Monument, engraved with the names of 102,000 Jewish victims and 220 Roma and Sinti murdered by the Nazis. See the Stumbling Stones, small brass plaques embedded in the pavement, each marking the last known residence of a deported Holocaust victim.

This is a wonderful tour with the most AWESOME guide, Clare, walking through Amsterdam explaining the history of Amsterdam in relation to the Jewish Quarter and the Holocaust. In the end, she tied if all back to Anne Frank and the history therein. This is a wonderful pre-amble to visiting the interior Anne Frank house itself, which the ticket must be purchased separately. Highly recommend Clare and this tour!!!! Clare has a vast knowledge of the history behind the entire tour and clearly enjoys sharing this with the customers.
Clare was an excellent guide . Very knowledgable and explained a lot of critical information during the tour .
Clare was great and very accommodating and knowledgeable and we learned a lot!! We had taken a tour of the Anne Frank house inside a couple of days earlier.
Excellent tour. Monique was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable, passionate, nice. I have been traveling for years and I can say that she has been one of the best tour guides I’ve had. Hands down for Monique and this very special tour
Our tour guide, Anita Gosschalk Liemburg was wonderful and so full of knowledge and explaining the history of Anne, WWII and the Holocaust. So glad we had this experience.
Claire was an excellent guide. One of the best I have ever had. Not only knowledgable about the topic but also Amsterdam itself
Excellent guide Very informative Highly recommend for all Easy to understand. Appears to really enjoy providing tours
We loved tour with Clare. She was so pleasant, informative, kind and just fun to be with. I highly recommend this tour!
Anita Gosschalk Liemburg was an exceptional tour guide today! She had so much information to share and she did so in a well-orchestrated and a personal way. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a well-spoken narrative and a very friendly face.
Clare has a tremendous ability to explain history and make history interesting. She literally is a great "story teller" and the two and a half hour tour passed by very quickly. For sure we will remember this outstanding tour and the history she talked about. Can't get any better
The tour covered many important areas of Amsterdam and our guide had much great information to share. Clare was simply lovely. Highly recommend.
Clare was very friendly and engaging. The tour was informative and interesting while keeping it accessible and appropriate for our children. Clare was knowledgeable and heartfelt as she described the atrocities perpetrated on the citizens of Amsterdam and the courage of the resistance. She led us through the city and placed us in the locations of the events to allow us to be immersed in the history and to experience it more deeply. She was accommodating allowing us to duck into a cafe for hot cocoa on our snowy walking tour.
Our guide, Monique, was fantastic! A wealth of knowledge, covering the history of Amsterdam's involvement in WW II. Very moving, and brought the tour to life. Thank you, Monique!
Anita Gosschalk Liemburg was an amazing guide! She was extremely knowledgeable and provided very detailed information about the Frank family and the Anne Frank house. She also provided extensive information about the events leading up to World War II, the events during WW II and the events that followed the end of the war. We were a group of 3 and we all found the tour to be extremely informative. I would definitely recommend Anita for this tour of Amsterdam. The last stop of the tour was the Holocaust memorial. It was very moving.
This tour was great despite the pouring rain. Anita, our guide, was so informative. We had lots of questions and she had all of the answers. It ended up being just my husband and I. Anita told us many stories and brought WWII to life as we went to each location. I really appreciated her insight and sticking with us in the rain. I would highly recommend.
Anita was an amazing guide through the long and complex history of the Jewish community in Amsterdam. While we visited many spots associated with WWII, we also talked about the context; what went on before and after, echoes today and much to think about. Anita's perspective was balanced, and will be useful in my thinking as I return to everyday life.
Clare was very good and informative on the history. Had pictures to show of Anne Frank and her family. Very humbling, but history that must be known and pray it never happens again.
Our tour guide Monique, was amazing. She dpoje with knowledge and passion and no question went unanswered! Thankyou Monique!❤️
Clare was AMAZING!! Thoroughly impressed with Clare’s excellent knowledge about what happened and significant people involved. Would Highly recommended to anyone wanting to know more about this important time in history.
Jo was a great tour guide. So knowledgeable about Anne Frank and the Jewish history as it related to WWII and the Nazi invasion of Amsterdam. Each twist and turn she filled with interesting facts. From the 1600s through today; she was able to fill our tour with related stories that made it very real to us.
We loved our mid-morning tour with Monique! The weather was spectacular! Monique is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and clear speaking! We have done similar themed tours in other European countries and she was OUTSTANDING! She took our basic understanding from having read The Diaries of Anne Frank as teens to a deeper appreciation and understanding of how it affected this wonderful city and country. We appreciated her so much!
This is a very informative walking tour and we learned a lot about the Jewish neighborhoods during the Nazi occupation. Klaus is a very good guide.
