The museum was great, but the canal tour was horrible. The canal tour did not Point out things as advertised like Anne Frank or the red light district.

The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.

The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a writer's house and biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands. During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex (Dutch: Achterhuis). She did not survive the war but her wartime diary was published in 1947. Ten years later the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block.

It was good value as cheaper than buying tickets direct but no actual people involved you have to just scan ticket at entrance of museum and then find the boat by asking people in streets!
Wonderful day all around. The museum was perfection. Then the 75-min cruise was the icing on the cake. Fabulous.
Canal cruise was great. Not crowded. Captain’s dry humor was informative. Van Gogh Museum is awesome but very crowded.
Nearly all were prints, or copies, no visible signatures, no ‘Starry night’, one sunflowers. Very disappointing
Museum is over crowded....be mindful if you have health issues, there are plenty of stairs. If you want detailed information on what you're viewing, get the audio guide.
It was an amazing experience where you are seeing all Van Gogh trayectory along his life. It was crowded so I suggest to take the first hours of the tour to avoid a lot of people. It might be impossible to see the pictures since there are lot and a lot of people arriving to the museus
Very informative. Great collection of van Gogh’s paintings. Audio tour provided good background information.
Great way to see the city. If rain is an issue for you, be sure to get a covered boat!
Really glad I booked this ahead of time because the day we went the museum was sold out of tickets. The boat cruise leaves from a different location than the museum. It’s about 10 minute walk and I’m glad we were able to go to their second location for a later boat ride.
Van Gogh Museum was fantastic. Only downside I didn't discover elevators until I'd walked up all stairs. Didn't have guide or pick up but unable to choose N/A option.
Occasionally, they have a little Art workshops down in the basement that they allow you participation in for free! You get a chance to try to replicate a van Gogh painting! The staff was so kind and helpful!
Loved that we could go in earlier than time slot. Enjoyed audio guide (additional cost). Loved that canal ride could be ANY time so we went after we grabbed lunch. It was a great day.
Wonderful visit to the museum. A must do in Amsterdam. Learnt so much about his life and inspiration, his brilliance and his madness. To see his famous works in person was amazing. The cruise despite negative reviews is very straightforward and easy to walk to. It was a wonderful cruise and very informative. Would recommend this package.
So many selfportraits I hadn't seen before. A vulnerable artist with revolutionary use of colours made a strong impression. So sad he didn't live longer. And thanks God his relatives loved him and his works so we can look at them nowadays.
I didn’t know that there wasn’t an official meeting place. I expected it to be a tour, however, once we figured that we were on our now , it was perfect
The exhibit was beautiful. I would highly recommend if you are in Amsterdam. The canal cruise was a nice way to see the city up front and close.
It’s very confusing. It says your meeting place is at the museum but the people who work at the museum have no clue what you mean when you ask about a canal cruise. The details of the canal cruise are buried in the details of the booking so be sure to read. You will have to walk about half a mile to find the canal cruise. I wish someone would have told me that. We got lucky in that we found the name of the boat company and googled how to walk there.
None of Van Gogh’s major works were present. no starry nights, irises, or sunflowers. Mostly self portraits and history of his troubled life.
The museum was extraordinary however there were no directions on how to use the cruise. Consequently, we weren’t able to take advantage of that opportunity..
We booked a package tour for the Van Gogh museum and canal tour from Viator. It was basically two separate tours that we could have booked ourselves. No instructions about what to do and where to meet after the museum. Messaged and called Viator but no response. We finally figured out where to meet the boat and walked there. What was the point of the package? But we did enjoy the museum, and the canal tour was lovely.
We enjoyed the Van Gogh museum and the canal tour but were disappointed by the lack of clear instructions by Viator. The meeting point was the museum but it was not clear when and where to meet the boat for the canal tour. We messaged and called Viator but got no response. We finally got directions from the museum and walked to the canal on our own. We could have just gotten our own tix to the museum and booked the canal tour separately.
Van Gogh museum has so much to see we really enjoyed it we spent over 2 hours in there. The canal cruise was also lovely, we arrived at the dock and were out onto the next boat just a 15 mins or so wait. There was an audio guide included and very good guide
The blue boat tour is not immediately near the Van Gogh museum, but it is a short tram ride away. A lovely way to spend the afternoon.
Instructions on how to access museum and headphones for audio tour were nonexistent. There was no clear instruction for how to find the cruise, nor was there any information on how long it would take to get there. The boat tour was noninformative and uninteresting. It was mostly random music playing in inane people talking about minor things. Learned very little about the city but did enjoy the views.
We never found where to catch the boat and we asked many people and looked for any signs. We would like a refund.
More than expected: very rich and interesting museum and very relaxing boat trip. Check in was aways fast.
A really relaxed and enjoyable canal tour, packed with interesting fun facts along the way. We only had a short time in Amsterdam during the Christmas period, and this was a perfect way to see most of the city centre without rushing around on foot. It gave us a great overview of the city and its history, and we saw far more than we would have otherwise. Definitely recommended if you’re short on time but still want to experience Amsterdam properly.
Really enjoyed the evening cruise, beautiful canals, great captain keeps his guests entertained. Stall with refreshments and glintwine by the pier - so if desired can buy drinks and snacks to bring with you on board. Cruise lasts 75 min- plenty of time to adore the Amsterdam from the water. Van Gogh museum next day- fantastic exposition, great experience. Would highly recommend!
We went during tulip day. What an experience, quite magical! The art was mesmerizing. I truly can not believe that I was visiting Van Gogh. What an amazing experience. If you're not moved... you're not alive!
It was nice to have a timed entry ticket. We didn’t have to wait in line. His works were beautifully displayed. The lockers for your bags were nice and convenient.
you can be round the museum in an hour or under, depends how into art you are really, if you want to sit and look at a painting there is some room
Terrific deal . Easily found canal cruise. Took it at 4 pm and the lights came on. It was well narrated by both auto recording and captain.
We couldn’t contact anyone. Our trip never made it to Amsterdam we tried to connect with the tour guide or operator and no one replied. We couldn’t request a refund either.
Museum worked out well; canal cruise did not. We got to the museum thirty minutes early and we were allowed in immediately instead of having to wait for the time on our tickets. As for canal cruise, be aware that if your canal boat has a bathroom at the back and the only seats left are on the back row, then the bathroom will block half your view. Just wait for the next available canal boat. Also think about what's important to you - being inside out of the elements or viewing everything around you. Some boats are open and you'll see everything but be cold or hot or rained on. Some boats are enclosed with clear covers but view is affected. Finally, our ticket specifically stated we'd get a snack box and one drink. Not so. Not a problem unless you're really thirsty and expecting you'll get a drink.
Tour guide was awesome, was super knowledgeable and really brought us on a journey- for the price, compared to other tours I'd done, I feel like it could have been a bit longer or covered a bit more but overall it was a great tour and enjoyed it!
Fantastic and informative visit to Van Gogh Museum. Well organised. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of space to explore and view art even though museum was busy. Highly recommend.
Museum wonderful. Blue Boat canal tour… fair only. Poor audio information… should have given a lot more Amsterdam details… too much music. We were supposed to receive a drink and snack…. No sight of either!!!
Received a cancelation notice from boat company for our Von Gough and 75 minute tour for today October 5 that it was canceled coz the museum will be closed due to demonstration at the museum plaza . I was notified by email but Viator haven’t refunded the tickets I paid for 2 .
We loved the audio and scavenger hunt they had for my 10yr old son at the VanGogh museum. He even won a prize! The canal tour was disappointing. The audio didn’t go with what we were looking and passing. The audio was saying all of these interesting things, but they were no where in sight. I think the audio was too ahead.
The Van Gogh Museum experience was great . However the canal cruise included in the ticket was not. There were no instructions on how to redeem the ticket. The Blue Boat company had an office on one of the canals but it was too hard to access especially not knowing whether we would definitely get our tickets validated there. We would have preferred to buy the Van Gogh Museum entry tickets excluding the canal cruise cost but didn’t have the option. We ended up doing the canal cruise with another company.
A well organized museum easily navigated with audio of Van Gogh’s life and work. Beautifully formatted from room to room
This is a must see, I would recommend to anyone there's so much to concern. The staff is so professional
Beware unhelpful inflexible company with zero customer service - I made a date mistake when booking and ask not to cancel but to swap day or time - company were totally inflexible conveniently blaming their tour operator - don’t believe the sales pitch about being able to cancel at no cost - I lost money and had to rebook independently which btw was much cheaper
So glad that we had booked ahead of time…the museum was closed to reservations for that day. The museum had wonderful information on Van Gogh and insights from other artists on his life and works. We also enjoyed walking a short distance to grab our boat tour. LOVED the bag of snacks and drink for our ride. Again, great information about the tour (via recordings w/headsets) views and a comfortable ride.
Great experience, loads of flexibility and great communication! Would def recommend this experience- know it’s not a proper tour with a guide.
They never stated in the description that it is a tour by ourselves, never told us where to go to get on the boat. I asked them but didn’t get any response. There were two addresses mentioned to buy the tickets but no boarding addresses. Then no mention of their boat cruise timing. We didn’t know when is the last tour they offer so we could make plans accordingly. Cruise was good and boat captain were very nice and fluent in English.
Nothing against Viator - this gets you in and that’s IT. Staff at museum not very friendly and no maps for self tour. River cruise was nice though and friendly folks there
Do not book this as we lost our money. Our flight was delayed and then we did not get there until it was time for our trip. I learned a lesson. Do not make a reservation on the day you arrive because many things can happen.
The tickets didn’t work at either place. And know one showed up. And know one answered the phone when we called for help. I’m trying to get reimbursed
