Itinerary
During the tour, your personal guide explains everything you want to know about the mystical world of diamonds. He or she will tell you about the origins of the diamonds and the process a diamond goes through. This diamond process takes millions of years. Learn how to evaluate a diamond with the 4 C's (carat, cut, clarity, color) of diamond valuation. There is so much more to know and appreciate about a diamond than just the sparkle. You will be surprised. Besides seeing amazing diamond jewelry and Europe's largest collection of unset diamonds, you will also see the Royal 201 diamond. This is Royal Coster's own patented diamond cut and known to be the best diamond in the world. A regular brilliant has 57 facets, while this unique diamond cut has no less than 201 facets. These extra facets cause to make the light reflect even more within the diamond. This creates a sparkling effect that is no match for any other diamond shape in the world.

Awesome diamond experience with Sales Associate, Sang, and Sales Manager, Naira. Thank you for your time, wonderful service and a memorable visit all the way from Hawaii! We LOVE our new diamond purchases! Aloha and Mahalo!
Monica was amazing and helpful. The tour was super informative and precise. A must do activity if in Amsterdam.
We had a guide who spoke French really well. The tour was very interesting from start to finish. The guide was very clear in explaining the making and polishing of diamonds. We were able to see displayed models and take time to compare different kinds of diamonds. An experience not to be missed! Thanks Anas for sharing your passion for your work with us.
💎 An unforgettable Royal Experience at Royal Coster Diamonds! My visit to Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam was truly special. I chose the Royal Experience and felt incredibly welcome from beginning to end. I had a private tour with Pauline Willemse, who passionately shared the history of Coster, explained the diamond-cutting process, and taught me about carats, colour, and the art of diamond craftsmanship. She even let me try cutting a diamond myself! Pauline holds a Guinness World Record for hand-cutting the smallest brilliant-cut diamond in the world. Having worked at Coster for 40 years, her knowledge, dedication, and pride in her profession were truly inspiring. She patiently answered all my questions and made me feel more like a valued customer than just a museum visitor. Afterwards, Sang Nguyen welcomed me for an equally fascinating diamond experience. Over a cup of tea and some sweets, he showed me different diamonds and made sure I understood what makes each one unique. I especially loved his advice to choose a diamond you genuinely love, rather than focusing only on its size, carat weight, or price. His passion for the craftsmanship rather than simply the monetary value was refreshing. I even had the opportunity to hold and examine different diamonds and see the beautiful Royal 201, Coster’s own signature cut. I was mesmerised! What made this experience exceptional was not just the diamonds, but the people. Pauline and Sang were knowledgeable, warm, patient, and genuinely passionate about what they do. I left with a deeper appreciation for diamonds and the incredible craftsmanship behind them. A huge thank you to Pauline and Sang for making my visit so personal, welcoming, and memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend the Royal Experience to anyone visiting Amsterdam. It is so much more than a museum visit! ✨
Very organised and friendly! Will come back! Thanks Linda!
Was not worth the time or money. Perfunctory, brief demonstration of polishing of a tiny diamond. Allowed others to join my private tour in the beginning. Guide essentially had a script but little knowledge. Private part was in a room where you were shown 5 loose diamonds. I do not recommend and should have heeded a previous reviewer. If you know absolutely nothing about diamonds and want to see glass reproductions then you might find it interesting. What was interesting was watching a jewelsmith work on setting a sapphire and diamond ring. I wish that had been the entire tour.
Really good experience. We enjoyed the intimate tour and came away with two items from the sale. Helped me out with a fifty year wedding anniversary gift for my lovely wife.
Excellent experience, Angela was an incredibly knowledgable, patient, friendly & helpful guide. Definitely worth booking! The length of the visit extended beyond the allocated time, which was perfect for us as we wanted the full experience. Beautiful atmosphere and stunning buildings.
Had a great tour, Sang was a fantastic guide. We learnt so much and had fun looking at the diamonds and jewellery. We did buy but there was no pressure to buy.
Sang was a great guide. So much information and beautiful diamonds.
Sang was very good!! Great explanation of the differences in the diamonds and their grades
My family and I spent 2 beautiful hours at this facility because we discovered a unique reality, that is, regarding the processing of diamonds, and above all we thank the employee Mr. Anas Salama for his professionalism, availability and illustration of the product.
The Royal Coster Diamond Experience was a wonderful and excellent experience that I and my sister would highly recommend. My sister wanted to do a diamond tour and I went back and forth as to where to do the tour and then what type of tour. We were actually able to do a tour with Royal Coster and another diamond center during our trip. If I had to choose one, I would recommend Royal Coster. Our guide, Hans, was very knowledgeable about diamonds and had an excellent personality for showing the factory and the diamonds. The tour is not a long tour but it is very interesting and truthfully we wanted to see the diamonds! With the Royal Coster Diamond Experience we were given an individual tour, and a gift bag. We then were able to see the diamonds - loose diamonds were brought out and shown to us. We were then able to shop in the store and try on jewelry. My sister ended up purchasing a ring and they bent over backwards to ensure that the ring was sized appropriately and that we had all of the necessary paperwork. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
This was a great experience to learn about diamonds , their natural creation, polishing and get a much better understanding of diamond quality , polishing and the charisma of these gem stones. Additionally you get to learn about the history and legacy of Royal Coster and an overview of the diamond industry. Our guide was excellent , knowledgeable , friendly and fun, easy to talk to and discuss every aspect of diamonds. Finally there is a small museum that you can view at you leisure.
Professional informative tour guide. Patient with questions. Wonderful tour
We were welcomed on entry and had a private tour with the representative who was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It was nice to talk to some of the team that were working at the stations and its reassuring and nice to see that they had been with the company for many many years in particular the goldsmith took an interest in a ring that was a family heirloom. The team were great and a visit is highly recommended.
Once again at Costers. Sang once again looked after us like royalty. We did nake a purchase, so, wife is happy. However, the knowledge and information we had from Mr Sang was incredible. Highly recommend a tour (no need to buy). We will be back. The whole experience was first class.
Less a factory , more a high end jewelry store where the very knowledgeable and friendly staff try to gauge your interest in buying one if their beautiful gems . I wouldn’t pay for a tour as they are free .
Be prepared to be sold diamonds. This is not a tour. This is a sham. This Trip Advisor company will ruin TA fine reputation quickly.
We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Staff were very accommodating as we had booked our tour for 1.30pm and they managed to get us a tour guide although we were several hours early. Simon was very informative and knowledgeable and witty. He made us feel like royalty and we had complimentary coffees and treats... the diamond displays were exquisite. This was a once in a lifetime experience and would highly recommend. The hostess , from Ukraine. was very helpful and friendly organising our early tour. Coster certainly have their customer service down to a fine art. Very enjoyable
Rosa was an amazing tour guide! She walked us through the diamond polishing area, showed us different diamonds, and went through the different characteristics of diamonds. She was so knowledgeable and fun throughout this experience and we learned a lot from her. Highly recommend!
The check in process was unclear, and an employee seemed unbothered that were there and simply told us to head into the next room. We were then invited a join a tour by another employee that happened to be starting, so we joined. However it became clear that this wasn’t what we had booked for, with the tour lasting only 30 mins not the hour we had booked for. What annoyed me was that whilst we were listening into the group tour, our private guide noticed we were there but did not bother to pull us aside and let us continue with the short version. It was still interesting to understand the process of polishing and cutting diamonds.
I was surprised that we had a private tour. It made it more special for our mother. The staff was both charming and knowledgeable.
I got in contact with Royal Coster Diamonds since one of my hobbies is collecting loose diamonds and gemstones. I know a lot about diamonds, the diamond trade, diamond cutting etc. On advice I booked the Royal Experience Private Tour. After the tour I spend even more time in the different showrooms with the friendly, competent and hospitable staff memember. I highly recommend this tour. The gift bag you will receive is really brilliant.
We visited out of pure interest, not to buy any diamonds. We were shown around by a lovely knowledgeable gentleman who was not only too happy to answer all of our (sometimes silly) questions but provided us with a thorough explanation of the diamond cutting process. It was fascinating to see all the diamonds whilst learning why their own cut is considered one of the best in the world. There were opportunities to select and buy diamonds and have them made into jewellery if you wished and when I’m next looking for a special item of jewellery I would definitely return.
Was greeted by someone who hardly spoke English. Didn't want to show us anything about the diamond making process. Was whisked away to a showroom. When we started to walk out saying this whole thing was a sham and we came to see the diamond making process, a lovely woman intervened and chased the idiot that had been assigned to us away. She salvaged the visit and gave a very nice tour and a presentation of very beautiful cut diamonds. She also gave us a bag of token gifts but it wasn't worth $50.
Really enjoyed the personal experience and the “gift bag” was so fun! My 19 year old son also liked it and learned a lot!
There are not many reasons to bother with the 30 minute free "Diamond Factory Tour" of Coster. We assumed we would get to see a cutting/polishing demo but, in fact, we were just told about the 4 C's, taken to a safe room to see some examples of various grades of diamonds and then directed to the shop and the entrance to the museum for which you pay a charge. We felt it was all a big a waste of time and just designed to whet the appetite of customers who were trying to build up the courage to splash the dosh. For us, it was a disappointment
It was amazing to see what goes in to making the perfect diamond. Our tour guide was great and was fun to go into a private room and actually handle and look at the diamonds. We came home with some beautiful jewelry.
It is worth it to book the private tour. You get to see more. You don't have to buy diamonds, but if you can, why not! Our your guide was lovely and we had a really great time.
We made reservations before we arrived in Amsterdam for this tour. Mae was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. At the end of the tour we wanted to buy a couple things. We were seated in a room just off the main show room and offered something to drink(including champagne). Nareerat, the manager, showed us diamond earrings from the showroom. We enquired about buying loose diamonds so we could get the quality we wanted. We were very pleasantly surprised when several loose diamonds were sent to our room. Quality and clarity of each diamond was reviewed with us as was the qualities of the settings. There was absolutely no pressure to the sale. The stones were set and returned to us within 20 minutes. They are gorgeous!! My husband had them show us Diamond rings also. They showed us several rings and I chose a beautiful 5 Diamond ring with perfect color and clarity. They sized it up my ring within 15 minutes. We received certificates including cut, clarity and color. Fantastic activity in Amsterdam! Highly recommended!
This was a mother & daughter morning excursion before our afternoon flight home. A quick and interesting ~30 minute tour led us through the three Royal Coster buildings in the Museum District.
We really enjoyed the tour. It was also interesting for our son (13yrs). Super! Very friendly and experenced tourguide. After the tour you can see (and shop) the beautiful jewelery they have for sale. You get a present after the tour!, blingbling
I don't know what this was. We got to the original tour location at our scheduled time and tried to show our tickets to the people working there, but they had no interest in us and seemed more interested in turning their chairs away from us every time we walked up to the window to ask a question. So we just followed the signs to the Diamond Museum (which was more like a hallway). There we were told to keep walking and the museum was up ahead. But once we got to the other building, they told us we were in the wrong place and had to walk back to the first building where there was no organization. Oh, and the whole time, you're just walking through different stores trying to sell you diamonds. If you look like you can't afford them, they turn their nose down at you. Total waste of time.
I discovered this visit was available by reading about it in the guide in the hotel. I expected to be part of a group, but it turned out to be a 'one to one' experience! The member of staff was very informative and knowledgeable and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, something quite different.
Entrance near the corner, with the name Coster Royal Diamond. Multiligual support. I am the only Vietnamese there but the company sent a Vietnamese agent to help me experience the journey. There is also gift at the end of the experience. Thank you for agent Bella
Wonderful experience, very nice and experienced guide. We loved this tour. Thank you very very much. We learned about 4C to rate a diamond.
Very informative, beautiful diamonds. Everything explained about the company and also received a free gift. Well worth the money
It’s amazing place to know about diamonds polishing and cutting process from the experts. Our attendant was very kind and made our experience worthwhile. Highly recommended.
Went with friends while on girls trip to Holland. This tour was one of the best bits of our 5 day trip. The staff were amazing (especially Naira). We learnt lots. Will definitely be coming back with our husbands credit cards in the future 😉 Well worth booking a tour and if you are looking to buy any special jewellery this is definitely the way to do it.
We had a very good Italian speaking guide who gave us a good tour with lots of explanation, we also received a free complimentary gift in the end which made the tour worth it!
Very poor comments, no time to see workers. Except having a look at the shop, there is no interest at all.
I did the Royal Experience tour and it was great seeing the history of the place and the way diamonds are actually made. We also received a bag of goodies as memory, so I really recommend this tour.
We learned a lot of history about the diamond industry here concerning the diamonds of royalty which have been crafted throughout the years. We enjoyed the interesting story about the oldest diamond company in Europe. This tour free and doesn’t take that long. We felt this was worth a stop but perhaps not a must see for everyone. Staff is very pleasant.
The explanation of diamond cutting was fairly brief and not particularly illuminating as the guide seemed more interested in getting us to the showroom with a view to selling.
This was a wonderful tour, informative, professional and fun. Our guide was excellent and made the tour very engaging. Thoroughly recommended!
This was a fantastic tour. It is a private tour and much different than the free tour. We were guided around and treated beautifully. Of course, they show you beautiful jewelry available to buy, but no high pressure sales. We did end up buying something, and all of the paperwork for US customs was prepared on the spot. You also get a cute goodie bag for visiting. Just know, it is not particularly easy at the Amsterdam airport to get your VAT returned, so if you are going this way, make sure you arrive at the airport 3 1/2 to 4, yes 4 hours early, in order to maneuver around the airport and get your VAT tax money returned to your card so you’re not stressed about getting checked in to your flight with time to spare.
This was a very interesting tour of the building. Sophia was an excellent guide. We were informed about how diamonds are categorised and were taken through the showrooms. I would like to have spent more time watching the diamond cutting and polishing process and learning about the diamond mining industry. However, this wasn't a focus for the tour we got. I did speak to a very knowledgeable diamond polisher, but there weren't many staff in the workshop when we went. Clearly a highly skilled operation! It is a thoroughly worthwhile activity and we appreciated the fact that it was free of charge.
Today (17 Feb 2023) I visited Royal Coster Diamonds. After 20 years, I returned to this fancy and professional place. I was warmly welcomed and given a free guided tour. Thank you very much and I recommend it to everyone. Each of the 4 C’s of diamonds (Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat) play a role in a diamond’s beauty.
