Itinerary
Visit a three-generation historic family bakery, one of the few in the Netherlands to hold a Royal Warrant, where you'll taste a classic Dutch saucijzenbroodje. You'll experience traditional baking firsthand while enjoying this flaky, savory pastry that locals love as a simple breakfast or snack.
Amsterdam’s most iconic open‑air market: a lively, buzzing food lover’s paradise in the heart of De Pijp. Wind through 250+ stalls filled with fresh produce, Dutch classics and multicultural street food. It’s a feast for the senses and a must‑visit spot to taste real Amsterdam life.
You’ll visit a local spot to discover Gözleme, a traditional Turkish flatbread freshly prepared with delicious fillings. Learn about its preparation and cultural origins while enjoying this popular savoury treat along the way.
Enjoy a freshly made traditional Dutch pancake, choosing between a savoury cheese pancake or a sweet apple pancake, served warm in a cozy local café.
Named after Samuel Sarphati, a physician from 1813, who transformed Amsterdam’s public health by improving hygiene, creating affordable bread factories, and installing water pipelines, while also advancing education, industry, and city planning, leaving a lasting impact on the city.
Walk through De Pijp’s art-inspired streets, honoring Dutch painters, then visit André Hazes’ statue to feel the city’s musical soul. Pass by Sarphatipark, learning how Samuel Sarphati transformed Amsterdam through public health and urban innovation.
At the Stroopwafel Workshop, you’ll get hands-on and make your own iconic Dutch treat. Learn the history and technique behind these thin waffles filled with warm caramel, then enjoy your freshly baked stroopwafel straight off the iron, perfectly sweet and delightfully memorable.

Fantastic tour with Sabrina. Had a great time and learned a lot. Loved that she shared so many tips and how to make the most of our visit to Amsterdam. She even provided a list of things to do with tips on how to efficiently use public transit.
Paul was a fantastic and friendly guide. He shared great stories about life in Amsterdam. Well worth the time.
Andi was phenomenal! We had the best time wandering, tasting and learning about the Dutch, Amsterdam and food
Got to experience some great local food and make some stroopwaffles. I liked that the tour finished at the market so that I could explore more!
Paul was incredible. From the first minute we felt at home in a city we've never seen as a family. Warm, funny and absolutely inclusive, Paul and the experience were immersive and enriching. Grateful for the beautiful experience. Highly recommend!!
Steve was a great guide and was wonderful to be with! The details for this tour listed five tastings and we were only offered three. I am questioning why.
Steve was an excellent tour guide. We would recommend this tour to our friends. He has lots of great insights about the neighborhood and the various vendors throughout.
Mickey was so vivacious and personable and kind and knowledgeable. Lovely and authentic experience - did not feel ‘touristy’. Thank you.
We tried food unique to Amsterdam and learned about the history of each dish. Tasty foods and an enjoyable walk in a neighborhood and thru a market
Elena was a wonderful tour guide. We stopped at about 4 restaurants and a real cheese shop. We walked everywhere and she did a great job of giving us an overview of the area and where we were going and the bites we were trying. Great small group tour and the food was amazing! Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic food and market your with Danielle. Her personable and professional style was second to none. Additionally her friendly nature was apparent with the vendors and we really got the best out of this tour. We really appreciated Danielle shared the history of Amsterdam and Dutch food. Highly recommend.
So happy we booked a tour with Eating Europe. Danielle was the best tour guide! We could’ve chatted and shared food with her all day. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and introduced us to some amazing food in a great neighborhood. From meat filled pastry, to herring, cod fritters, apple pie and so much more. We not only tasted the food but learned about its history. Can’t say enough about what a wonderful experience it was!
What a great food tour! Our 4th one in two weeks and by far the best! Our guide, Gerard, was such a pleasure to be with - teaching us food history and Amsterdam history in an enjoyable way that engaged parents and teens alike. The food was plentiful and delicious and catered to our dietary restrictions. Highly recommend this tour!!! So glad we did it:). Thank you, Gerard!
Excellent tour with great knowledge of the city and Netherlands history. The food choices were excellent and represented the experience beautifully. Wonderful day
Our guide was Danielle, and our tour was at the beginning of July 2025. From the start, she did a perfect job of bringing together different personalities and backgrounds over something universal: our love of food. She made the bustling city feel like a small town; her charm and wit are quite captivating! We made six stops of her choosing, and despite the immense heat of the day we joined, she ensured we were able to stay hydrated by making sure each stop had water for us. The variety of the stops allowed for us to expand our horizons beyond what we would’ve found on our own, and the personalized anecdotes for the foods we tried were handy, entertaining, and helped us understand Amsterdam even more. We wished we could’ve grabbed a picture with her and tipped her for the service, but the heat of the day led us all to leave our last stop promptly.
An enjoyable afternoon eating our way around the Albert Cuyp Market area with our guide Danielle. The tour took us to a series of restaurants, shops and cafes to taste different foods, some Dutch, some imported into the Netherlands through the migration of people to the city. It was an enjoyable way to stay out of the sun and learn a little about the city from a different perspective.
Excellent tour. Paul was both entertaining and insightful. Had a wonderful time and the food and drink was both plentiful and delicious!

We arrived a bit early to the meeting spot that was easy to find and Gerard, our local tour guide, was already waiting and noticed us. He was very friendly, informative, and the pace of the tour was perfect, we spent just enough time at each location, but not too long. He even provided each of us with recommendations after asking us what our remaining plans for our stay. Highly recommend!
Gerard was amazing. Learned so much about the culture and the food! I would highly recommend Bernard. Each stop was a delight!

Our tour with Danielle could not have been more rewarding. We had so much more fun than anticipated and highly recommend taking the tour with her guidance. We visited the Latin quarter, De Pijp , met an informant cheese monger who introduced us to amazing cheeses and foods to serve with the cheeses. We sat in so many establishments and enjoyed a variety of delicious tastings. Walking through the market in the Latin Wuarter was also a special treat, especially with Danielle’s explanations along the route. Danielle set a perfect pace and kept us on schedule while providing us with fascinating information on the culture and diversity of the foods enjoyed in Amsterdam. Danielle was very plesant, shared her vast knowledge and was a joy to spend time with on the food tour
This was a delicious adventure! Katya was very knowledgeable about both the history and culture of the Netherlands. She was well-spoken and kind. We enjoyed many tasty treats. Highly recommend.
We took a tour with Katya, and the experience was outstanding! She was very knowledgeable, and getting food recommendations from a local was invaluable. We’ve done several food tours in Europe before, but this was the best one that we’ve done, and I loved seeing the side of Amsterdam you don’t usually see from other tours.
Absolutely wonderful! Katya makes it the most fabulous tour in Amsterdam. We strolled the beautiful neighborhoods and market, feasting on samples of the finest local foods and drinks! All the food hosts are so friendly. The tor makes you feel like you could live in Amsterdam. Must do!
