So much German and not enough English. Have been on other 5 star+ Canal cruises. This was cheap but not worth it!

Itinerary
The Amsterdam Canal Ring (Grachtengordel) is one of the city’s most iconic and historic areas. Built in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, the canals form a beautiful network of waterways surrounded by elegant merchant houses, charming bridges, and historic streets. Today, the Canal Ring is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best ways to experience the beauty and history of Amsterdam — especially from the water.
The Anne Frank House is one of the most important historical sites in Amsterdam. During World War II, Anne Frank and her family hid in the secret annex of this building while the Netherlands was under Nazi occupation. Today, the house is a museum dedicated to Anne Frank’s life and diary. It stands as a powerful reminder of history and a symbol of hope, tolerance, and freedom. Visitors from all over the world come to see the place where her story took place.
The Prinsengracht is one of the main canals in Amsterdam’s famous canal ring. Built in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, it stretches for more than three kilometers and is lined with beautiful canal houses, houseboats, and historic bridges. Along the Prinsengracht you will find some of Amsterdam’s most famous landmarks, including the Anne Frank House. Cruising along this canal offers a perfect view of the historic charm and unique architecture that make Amsterdam so special.
The Westerkerk is one of the most famous churches in Amsterdam. Built in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, the church stands proudly along the Prinsengracht and is known for its impressive tower, the tallest church tower in the city. The tower is topped with the blue crown of the Dutch royal family and has become an iconic landmark in Amsterdam’s skyline. The Westerkerk is also closely connected to the story of Anne Frank, who wrote about hearing its bells while hiding nearby during World War II.
The IJ is the wide waterfront that runs along the northern side of Amsterdam, connecting the city to its historic harbor and the North Sea Canal. It offers stunning panoramic views of the Amsterdam skyline, modern architecture such as the A’DAM Tower and EYE Film Museum, and the lively harbor area near Central Station. Our cruise offers a unique experience on this impressive waterway — we are the only cruise company that sails on the IJ as part of the tour, giving guests a rare opportunity to see Amsterdam from a completely different perspective.
The Seven Bridges of Amsterdam are one of the city’s most famous and picturesque views. From a special spot on the Reguliersgracht, you can look straight through seven historic bridges perfectly lined up across the canal. This unique perspective is especially beautiful in the evening, when the bridges are illuminated and their lights reflect in the water. The Seven Bridges view is a favorite highlight during canal cruises and a popular photo spot for visitors exploring Amsterdam.
The Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) is one of the most famous and romantic bridges in Amsterdam. This historic white wooden drawbridge crosses the Amstel River and connects the banks between the Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht canals. The bridge dates back to the 17th century and is known for its elegant design and beautiful nighttime lighting with hundreds of small lamps. Today, the Magere Brug is a beloved landmark and a popular photo spot, especially in the evening when the lights reflect on the water. It’s also a highlight for visitors exploring Amsterdam by boat.
The Scheepvaarthuis is one of the most impressive architectural landmarks in Amsterdam. Built in 1916, it was the first building designed in the famous Amsterdam School style, known for its expressive brickwork, sculptures, and maritime details. Originally constructed as the headquarters for several major Dutch shipping companies, the building reflects Amsterdam’s strong historical connection to trade and maritime travel. Today, it houses the luxurious Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam and remains a stunning example of early 20th-century architecture.
The main river of Amsterdam. Great view over the world famous skinny bridge. The Amstel is the river that gave Amsterdam its name and has played an important role in the city’s history and development. Flowing through the heart of Amsterdam, the river offers wide views of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Along the Amstel you can see famous buildings such as the Magere Brug, the elegant Royal Theatre Carré, and the historic Hermitage Amsterdam. Cruising along the Amstel provides a beautiful perspective of Amsterdam’s historic architecture and vibrant waterfront.
The NEMO Science Museum is one of the most recognizable buildings in Amsterdam. Designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano, the building resembles a large green ship rising from the water. Located in the Oosterdok area, NEMO is the largest science museum in the Netherlands and a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. Its unique architecture and rooftop terrace offer fantastic views over the city and the surrounding waterfront.
The VOC ship Amsterdam is a full-scale replica of an 18th-century trading ship of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). The original ship was built in 1748 and sailed from Amsterdam to Asia as part of the global trading network of the Dutch Golden Age. Today, the impressive replica can be seen next to the National Maritime Museum. The ship offers visitors a glimpse into the maritime history of the Netherlands and the adventurous voyages that once connected Amsterdam with the rest of the world.

It was a bit confusing reaching the dock location but otherwise everything was great!
the meeting address took us to a hostel down the street from where we were to meet so we missed our scheduled time. It would be helpful is VIATOR had signs or flags identifying their tours. The cruise was excellent.
Very relaxing & enjoyable cruise. The extra length of time was nice because you were able to see more than other cruises. The boat driver was great and gave information in both Dutch & English. Highly recommend.
This was a great cruise. Easy to find once you cross with the ferry. It was warm inside the covered boat. The audio recording of the sights was in both Dutch and English. Very informative. Lots to see. We really enjoyed this cruise.
We didn’t get to go. Please allow us to complete this activity. It would be unfortunate to lose our tickets because of unforeseen circumstances. If anything, give us a refund .Thank you.
We received so much more from Charles than we ever anticipated! He was so accommodating to everything we asked of him. He gave us a wonderful tour of many of the highlights of Brussels and chose some wonderful food and drink for us to sample. At the end of the day I was so full from the delicious food that I just could not eat the Belgian chocolate at the end of the tour. However I did manage to consume the delicious chocolate the next day. This tour is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
There was construction en route so we arrived as the boat was departing. The boat was about 6 inches from the dock. The crew would not slow down or return to the dock for us to join the tour. I think it would have been easy to accommodate us.
Great long canal tour. I think the captain and mate could have talked about the sights a little more. Every once in a while, a recording was played. Overall nice people, but felt like we missed some sightes
Overall it was fun, the captain said some really intresting facts about Amsterdam and I really enjoyed it. The time was a bit shorter but otherwise everything went great.
First time to Amsterdam and travelling with my mom and grandmother - we loved walking around to explore but decided we had to get out on the water, and we are so glad we did! The tour was about 1hr 15mins, and picked up/dropped off by the A'dam tower, which was an easy spot for us to get to. The tour itself was great - it was a combination of pre-recorded audio plus an in-person guide who was also pointing out sites and telling us the local history. We got to learn a lot about the canals themselves, the house boats, Amsterdam's trade routes, and interesting features of the row houses. The boat was mostly covered but there was seating at the back that was uncovered, which was perfect for a day that was forecast to rain (but didn't!). This was the perfect tour for us and our tour guide/driver was wonderful. Would absolutely recommend this tour to friends and family who are visiting!
Grest trip, resonable prices for a beer. Easy to find boarding location. Helped having fabulous weather
Very cost effective, fabulous crews member and impeccable service. I did not expect much with the little fare I paid but honestly, I was flabbergasted with memorable ride I got.
Great way to see old Amsterdam. The boat was very quiet and the guide/captain explained the history of old Amsterdam.
I purchased it for my granddaughter and boyfriend. All went well boarding etc, and they really enjoyed the experience.
Please be warned that the pin for Google maps takes you further up the river and we nearly missed our boat trip. There are a few flags flying by the boat you need. It was a very nice trip when we got on board. We were also able to get off near the central station afterwards. Weather was lovely and service on board was very good.
It was a wonderful trip. Captain William was very welcoming. The price here is the best, and the customer support is excellent.
Trip itself was ok but as we sat outside we could not hear any of the audio. I think there should have been a speaker to cover the outside seats as well. The tour guide himself only pointed out a few extra things. These were things like ‘there’s a tow truck towing away a car’. Not very historical!
Nice little tour even tho’ it was raining! Could see thru’ windows and explanations good. Very good value!
Bring headphones just in case. Booked this tour as marketed as English live commentary, however on the day those changed to German pre recorded tape due to the bulk of passengers being German. Had I expected a pre-recorded tape I would have brought headphones but we didn't have them and trying to listen to phones on loudspeaker was a poor alternative.
Friendly and helpful tour guides. The tour included great historical information! Amazing value for money!
I had such a wonderful experience on the canal cruise in Amsterdam yesterday. It was honestly one of the best experiences I had during my visit to Amsterdam. The cruise was a lovely way to see the city from a different perspective. We learned about the history of Amsterdam, the beautiful and historic buildings, and many interesting things about the canals and the city along the way. The gentleman who was explaining everything was extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The boat itself was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and everything was organised very well. I genuinely enjoyed every moment of the cruise and was so happy that I chose to do it. I would highly recommend this canal cruise to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Whether you are visiting for the first time or have been to Amsterdam before, it is a lovely way to discover and appreciate the beauty and history of the city. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed it!
They have construction in the areas. My Uber could not find the address. So I missed the tour and the money. Google Maps could not give exact directions
Our guide and driver were excellent and gave a very professional service. Our guide was very knowledgeable, funny and gave a great tour. We went to see how the clogs were made and then on to how the edam cheese was made and finally the windmills. The whole tour was fascinating very educational and a good morning out.
An enjoyable canal cruise with excellent commentary. Very pleasant boat too. A great trip, thank you.
Absolutely fantastic experience. The captain was so conversational and funny. We also left the tour with a whole new perspective of Amsterdam as we learned so much about its rich history & culture. Well worth a trip - would highly recommend!!
Great Canal Cruise, smaller more peaceful boat. Captain was great, nice clean and well maintained boat. Easy to find the pick up location. Excellent value for money considering some of the over crowded boats that you see charging a lot more money.
Unfortunately my headphones didn't work. Trip was still great. Again unable to choose N/A.Unfortunately my headphones didn't work. Trip was still great. Again unable to choose N/A.
The canal cruise was relaxing, fun and informative! The captain was very friendly and spoke some English. He narrates the cruise in Dutch and then after, there is an English recorded translation playing. We saw a lot of the Old Town from the canals and learned a lot of fascinating history. One could also purchase cold drinks on board. The Captain was very flexible and found a place for us to disembark earlier, because we were running late and needed to be closer to the Anne Frank House, so we did not complete the entire cruise. I really recommend this canal cruise to see the heart of Amsterdam from a canal perspective and learn some fun history!
We had the absolute pleasure to sail with Captain Marco. He made sure everybody enjoyed a humerous and colorful guided tour throughout beautiful Amsterdam. We highly recommend the trip.
Nice boat trip and quieter than the other more centrally located providers. Easy to find on the free ferry across the Ij, just follow the google map directions. The captain and Flor were extremely friendly, Flor’s driving was incredible, how she gets it round those corners!! As one of few English speakers on the boat I think I missed out on a lot of the commentary which was mainly in Dutch, but non the less I enjoyed it.
The canal cruise was very relaxing and informative. The crew was very nice and they had humor. Boat was very clean and even though I did not use it, there was a bathroom on board.
Good cruise. Booked this as being advertised as a 75 mins Cruise, however in reality it was 60mins. It was a bit hard to hear the guide at the back of the boat. Overall though was good cruise for the money, though would recommend they change the advertising to 60mins.
A good boat ride through the canals from a starting point on the other side of the bank, which we enjoyed as it it also meant a short boat ride on the free ferries to get there.
We had a great fun with family. The captan of the ship was very good and the staff was polite.I was a great ride
Perfect even though it was raining. We enjoyed it! The Capitan was very friendly and also explained stuff that the audio guide didn’t.
A relaxed & easy way to experience & understand the history of Amsterdam. The captain was knowledgeable & delivered information with a fun sense of humour & wit. An excellent way to experience the city.
Your guide was genuinely hilarious, had a great time despite the rain and really enjoyed seeing Amsterdam from the canals. Boat has a closed top and was very comfortable
It was a good experience. The audio explaination was good and the boat man explaned things well. The boat was new and has very comfortable sofas. I only think that the price is slightly high (but everything in Amsterdam is expensive). It should be like 8 euro per person I think. And drinks on board are very expensive, from 3,50-5,50 euro per can. But it was a nice tour. Thank you.
This tour fell well short of what was advertised. We departed late and were back at the dock in under an hour, significantly less than the 75 minutes promised. With only two other passengers on board, the experience felt hollow rather than intimate. The bigger disappointment was the format itself: there is no live guide. Commentary is delivered entirely through a pre-recorded audio track while the skipper offers the occasional half-hearted gesture toward the landmarks. For the price, I expected genuine engagement and local insight. I left feeling like both my time and money had been wasted. If you're considering this tour, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a more authentic and worthwhile experience.
Captain looked ready for another trip, after long day of taking tourist around and was well engaged with tourists.
Great value for money ! Super comfortable and the guide was brilliant lots of knowledge and full of fun !
Comfortable and informational tour on a lovely Canal boat. The captain pointed out many sites to observe and the history behind any of the buildings and sites.
Good relaxing experience. Well organized. Tour guide explained the history behind the canals beautifully and the city looked beautiful from the canals.
Excellent place for a solo traveller...very friendly and affordable away from the tourist hotspots.
Great tour - Lex the captain was very informative and funny. His assistant Ryan was very helpful. Lovely leisurely tour. Electric boat that was covered. Warm, clean and has drinks options on board. Worth a tour!
Warm cabin. Fascinating route Friendly experienced crew English commentary available Excellent value for money
I joined the cruise with friends and family. It was a very relaxing experience for 75mins, with English audio for each attraction point . Friendly staff. It is recommended.
Great staff and captain. Go early in your visit and see where you might wish to spebd more time on foot. A thoroughly enjoyable trip, to be recommended
Amazing experience, very friendly staff and the boat captain was super funny too. I would most definitely recommend. The fee was quite reasonable, considering the experience. 75 mins was more than enough and it wasn't too packed coz of the winter. It was clean and presentable. Good atmosphere.
