James was so knowledgeable about the area and history he was an outstanding guide. It was great to do right before we went to the Anne Frank house. Highly recommend hopefully you get James as your guide.
Guide James was great-friendly, knowledgeable, able to ans all questions Tour- very interesting, learned a lot about how ppl were registered for deportation, where children were housed before being deported and the location of the trains during deportation. We pasted the zoo where ppl were hiding under the nazi’s noses. The wall of names was much more elaborate than I envisioned. It was interesting to see the streets where ppl were taken from their homes and the canal crossing where nazi guards were posted Highly recommend
A very informative guide to this period in Dutch history. Everyone should know about this very difficult time and the resilience of the Dutch peoples. Aaron was an excellent guide and well researched.
Informative walking tour and small group was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Easy to find the meeting place in front of the museum.
Our tour guide, Kees, was excellent. His depth of knowledge, combined with his passion for sharing it, made for a great experience.
Kees was amazing and did such a wonderful job. I would highly recommend this tour because it’s really educational.
Our guide was extremely personable and knowledgeable about the topic and the area we visited. It was great to get a fresh perspective on a topic we thought we knew a lot about, but obviously did not! This tour really gave us insight into a hidden part of history.
James was a wonderful guide. Extremely knowledgeable and open to any and all questions that were bring asked. He is very personable and a pleasure to interact with.
The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and how the political, economic, and historical context shaped mindsets in WWII. He offered information without judging history and the decisions everyday people made in the past. His insights also made us reflect on where we see similar attitudes and behaviors today. The tour was a well organized walk around the city. The pace was good for people of all ages. He was willing to answer questions and in general, willing to share his talent for storytelling and contextualizing key moments in Amsterdam, WWII, and Holocaust history.
Very good Jewish history tour. Our guide was very knowledgable and informative, and we were able to see and learn a lot in two hours
Great tour of the Jewish quarter with the history of the area and the effect of WW2. Aaron was a fantastic guide!
Scarlett, our guide, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Also very nice. Highly recommended!
A great tour. Aaron was very knowledgeable. He kept up a good pace. He was able to answer all our questions
Great tour with lots of information!!! If you want to learn more about the Jewish history, this tour is for you!!!
We had a fabulous tour. Our guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable, and she told the history with compassion and kindness. The small group made it a more intimate experience which worked with the emotional subject. We learnt a lot and I would highly recommend this tour.
James was absolutely wonderful, extremely knowledgeable with a tremendous sense of the history surrounding each and every aspect of our walking tour. Not to mention a great sense of humor This is a guide worth tracking down and using without hesitation
Excellent tour! Learned a lot. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. My second favorite activity of Amsterdam, only second to the Anne Frank House. I would highly recommend this tour.
Aaron was extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot on this tour! The pace was comfortable and the route was not crowded. I would recommend this to people genuinely interested in a deep dive of how the Holocaust impacted the city and its people.
Very thorough and in depth with Aaron, an excellent guide with a wealth of information. I would highly recommend visitors to do this when they come to Amsterdam.
Aaron was knowledgeable in the subject Being Irish and speaking fast made it somewhat hard to understand sometimes but he was open to questions and we had enough time wondering around the jewish quarter
Excellent tour! As someone who tries to go on Jewish Tours in all cities I visit, I learned so many new things on this tour. Thank you!
Aaron was an excellent guide! We learned so much about the area, but perhaps more importantly, the psychology of the Dutch and Hitler’s henchmen during the occupation. I definitely recommend this tour!
The tour guide was great. He led us thru the Jewish ghetto of WWII and answered questions and showed us how the Dutch honor those Jews killed in the Holocaust . I felt the tour was interesting and well done.
Our guide was James and he was awesome! He was knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. We learned so much and he had such a nice way about him. Highly recommend!
We had a very informative tour led by James. He is a very knowledgeable guide who shared a lot of history/information at a very comfortable pace
It was a great walk through the Jewish Quarter. Aaron clearly knew his history and inserted great information we would have missed just walking about in our own. He had great reverence but also had a great sense of humor. We walked away more informed and appreciative.
James, our guide on the Heritage tour was superb. His family lived the history of the tour, so he was able to personalize and add fascinating details, we may have otherwise missed. He was passionate about the history of the area, and discussed how it is viewed today by the Dutch. James shared information about the National Holocaust Memorial (Dutch Theatre), the Dutch Resistance Museum, the Holocaust Memorial of Names, as well as the Joods Museum and the Portuguese Synagogue. He was personable and had a terrific speaking voice! Thank you so very much!
Very interesting and moving, learned so much and visited historic sites. Our guide, James, was excellent and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour.
A great experience seeing all the Jewish sites and history. Very sad seeing what the NTzies did in such a shorty time. They took over in 3dsys
Informative, powerful experience
Aaron was a fantastic, knowledgeable guide who showed us many interesting things in Amsterdam which we would never have noticed on our own. Aaron also was nice enough to walk us most of the way to our next destination. It was a great experience and we highly recommend.
Very knowledgable tour guide. Brought the correct tone to the tour. Sobering, but also give us a lot of interesting facts. Learned a lot and would recommend it to a friend.
This tour was really moving and thoughtfully done. Walking through the Jewish Quarter with a guide added so much context you couldn’t get on your own. The stories were personal and gave a deeper understanding of the area’s history. Definitely a meaningful experience and worth doing while in Amsterdam.
We were unable to find the meeting spot from the address on the ticket. We missed the tour. We went to the address per Apple Maps .
Guide, Scarlet was fabulous! Very enjoyable and not too difficult walking tour. Saw everything we wanted to see
Our guide, Aaron had a fascinating education in history and a masters in Genocide (I never knew that existed). He was very interesting with his explanations and was full of amazing information. I would highly recommend him as your guide!
This was an extremely important and timely tour. We learned a great deal. It was also a great background for the Anne Frank House tour we took later that day. Everyone should know about the things covered.
Anthony was an incredibly knowledgeable guide. He pointed out all of the important parts of the old Jewish quarter and we learned a lot. This tour is sobering but important. Note that it does not include tickets to the Anne Frank house.
Our guide was really knowledgeable and shared a lot of stories that made the history feel so real. It’s a great tour if you want to learn more about Amsterdam’s Jewish history. The guide James has a real passion for his work as a guide, highly recommend!
Brilliant experience with Aaron - great Irish guy (we live there and ARE biased, get over it!) Super knowledgeable about Jewish history & it's relationship to modern events. Great humour & highly personable (which is unusual for a Dub). He'll get that dig but if your from the US it might pass you by. Highly recommended.
I loved this tour. It ended up with only 3 of us which made it perfect for us to ask questions and not feel like you were holding anyone up. Apologies that I can not remember the name of my tour guide by OMG he was the best!! So full of knowledge and I learned things I had no idea about. Thank you for making my trip amazing!!
Our guide was very professional and gave us a lot of information about the places we visited. His discussion was thought provoking and comprehensive.
Well planned, informative, emotional - 100% worth booking if you are at all interested in history. Our group was aged 16-78 and we all learnt a lot.
The best way to understand the significance of the buildings and monuments in the Jewish Quarters through the knowledge of our extremely knowledgeable guide !
Excellent tour that takes your through the entire Jewish quarter explaining just what happened to the Jewish population during WWII. The guide is honest and caring and really puts things into perspective especially for those that aren't quite sure what exactly happened
The trip was fantastic. It exceeded my expectations with his knowledge and engaging presentation allowing for interactive discussions. I would highly recommend this tour.
5 Star Tour. Aaron is a European history cyclone on two legs. We learned so much. Incredible depth and full of human anecdotes. Best tour guide we have ever had.
