The NEMO Science Museum is an architectural masterpiece that stands as a symbol of innovation and exploration. Designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, the building's striking green copper façade gracefully arcs like the hull of a ship, paying homage to the city's rich maritime history.
The history of Waterlooplein dates back to the late 19th century when the area served as an open square used for various purposes. In the 19th century, Amsterdam's Jewish population had a significant presence in this neighborhood, and the square was known as "Jodenmarkt" (Jewish Market). It became a bustling marketplace where traders sold various goods, and it also functioned as a trading center for second-hand items.
The Stopera is a prominent cultural complex in Amsterdam, which houses both the city's town hall (Stadhuis) and the Dutch National Opera & Ballet (Nationale Opera & Ballet). The name "Stopera" is a portmanteau of "Stadhuis" (City Hall) and "Opera," reflecting its dual purpose as a governmental and artistic center.

The name "Magere Brug" translates to "Skinny Bridge," which is a reference to the bridge's original design. The bridge was initially constructed in 1670 as a wooden drawbridge, which allowed boats to pass through. Over time, the bridge was replaced and reconstructed multiple times, and its design evolved into the elegant and graceful structure that we see today.

Great services, great tour leader
Great canal tour. Small boat, relaxed atmosphere and a friendly guide. We took the wine and cheese option, which I definitely recommend — it made the trip even better. A great way to see Amsterdam!
Diana was a great tour guide, very relaxing and informative
Possibly the problem with our experience is the person leading the tour. But we basically just were given cheap wine or beer and a cheese tray, while the “guide” also drank and joked with other passengers. No interesting info given about what we were seeing, history of the area, etc. My husband and I got very bored, especially once we got to the obviously more modern part of the city. Definitely not worth the money.
Amazing guide! So nice boat trip!
