The self guided tour was great! The museum provides a device with a lanyard that hangs around your neck and earphones. You can play various stories for different areas of the museum.
Everything was amazing and so glad we did the audio tour. Also I love the Whistler temporary exhibit.
It doesn't take that long to go through the museum but it's a feast for the eyes. I saw some of the most well-known Van Gogh works and was happy I went. It is worth the small fee for the audio tour.
Brilliant experience , loved the explanation on the audio , very easy to get to and lovely gift shop
Fantastic experience. I would recommend the audio or guided tour for all the extra insights. Wear comfortable shoes since there is walking and climbing up stairs involved. Free lockers available to store bags/jackets. The exhibit is rated for 90 minutes but depending on your interest, you can take longer. Limited seating at certain places, hence the comfy shoes. No loud conversations and no food or drink. Personally, I found it an emotional experience. Very good storytelling and placement of work. Do not go here in a rush. It’s worth the time.
Lots of walking in the galleries and from floor to floor; wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Audio tour good. Covers the basics of Van Gogh's life through different periods. If you want a deeper dive, research on your own. Museum has lockers, good restrooms and nice coffee kiosk and café.
A well thought out museum. Wonderful art work, of course. Perhaps the highlight of our trip. So glad we had the opportunity to see this collection.
Very crowded place in the morning Disconnected gallery layout that was confusing xxcxcxvxcxcxccxvccb
Interesting and well organised museum. Great audio guide that allows you to move through the museum at your own pace. Very enjoyable.
An amazing museum. Learn about Vincent and his family and the path to becoming one of the most loved painters. Museum was well designed, lunch as very good. Easy to get to.
Easy check in. Progress through museum at own pace. Can be a bit crowded in some rooms, but patience will give you a front row view.
It is an amazing museum with a great collection Van Gogh’s works. Audio guide is great as well. If in Amsterdam - you have to pay a visit
Unfortunately a backhoe in a nearby Street cut through the power lines. This was not their fault in the whole neighborhood when dark. However, when ask if we could come back later, they said it just was not possible. They could not make any kind of compensation. This happened to me and to many other people. Today is we're getting ready to leave. They said we could come back later this week after having said absolutely not possible yesterday. We get this note this evening as we are preparing to leave Amsterdam for America. This is extremely bad business practice and my wife was most disappointed as this was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip.
We didn’t know much about Vincent Van Gogh so we found this museum to be very informative. In fact , it was awesome. The audio worked very well.
Amazing art as expected … there was no guided tour so you’re paying for museum entrance and Audio tour … check is you can get without Viator
I was unable to get tickets direct through the museum website so last minute so ended up paying more through Viator to go at the time and date I wanted. The seller was very responsive to my questions and emailed the tickets the night before! Everything went smoothly. Absolutely loved the museum!
scammed us completely and now are not responding to our messages and emails! charged us 60€ per person for basic museum entrance and audio guide which is equivalent to a total cost of maximum 28.75 - 25€ ticket and 3.75 charge of audio guide! no justification for the additional charge per person no information. total scam
The voucher says “present to get tickets”. It also lists a meeting spot. We looked around for a long time. There was no meeting spot. There is no person. The ticket office wouldn’t honor the voucher because well it wasn’t valid for tickets.. The voucher that you get on Viator is worthless. You have to have the actual physical ticket. We learned, after the timed entry was over, the tour operator, using the messaging platform sends the tickets. That wasn’t made clear from be beginning. Additionally, they are ticket resellers. There is no additional value. Tired getting a refund because we couldn’t use these at the time. No luck. I’m out $150.
Couldn’t recommend this experience anymore. This was one of the highlights of my trip. Will definitely return to visit this museum
Very crowded. Be prepared for many, many photo takers. Lots of selfies and portraits with the art that disturb viewing at any length.
Very rich museum. I went with my husband and we spent great time there. We bought our tickets easily from Viator and it was sold out everywhere else. Very friendly staff and great cafe and souvenir shop.
Upon entering, it was very confusing. We were sent from one place to the other finally got our or audio device with no instructions on where to go or how to use it.
Not sure if this is sponsored by actual museum or third party. We entered with tickets which for last minute make this a four star experience. The museum would have sold out. Once inside we joined the queue and received headsets but so did everyone else. Nevertheless k didn't think that much about it and we left impressed with the museum and Van Gogh
When I was picked up on July 29 in Amsterdam, I was not welcomed with a sign like I was told I was told to report to different doors. It took almost a half an hour as the first car that came with small and I had ordered a large car because I have an electric scooter. You are supposed to pick me up on August 14 at 6:30 at the celebrity eclipse cruise line in Amsterdam. I need you to be there promptly this time as I have an airplane. . You are supposed to pick me up on August 14 at 6:30 at the celebrity eclipse cruise line in Amsterdam. I need you to be there promptly this time as I have an airplane to connect to. I have not written a formal review. I will see. Hopefully your company will be right this time I was read reviews and I’m hope I’m not disappointed. Marilyn and Daniel Noesges, celebrity eclipse cruise Amsterdam 630 pick up with a large car that I had ordered and paid for thank you.
We had to cancel our trip so we missed the tour. The three hundred and fifty mile bus trip was going to take five and one half hours so we canceled
Love the audio guide. You are able to go at the pace you want and can stop and read all the information if you choose. Busy museum but easy to navigate
The museum is well thought out and makes sense walking it. The headset worked great, and I enjoyed the thought. They took in laying it out by years of his life.
It was great experience to visit the museum. It does sell out so get your tickets ahead of time. We were glad that we booked early. We had very smooth entry process. The Museum is a must-see site.
The Van Gogh Museum itself was amazing. I spent several hours there using the audio headset tour option. The Museum is well managed and the tour easy to follow. What was difficult and not a good experience was getting the tickets from VIATOR. After my purchase the confirmation email stated I'd get another email with the ticket attached the night before the tour. I checked the night before - no email. I got to the museum early as I figured there would be an issue - there was, as I still didn't have the ticket. The museum actually has a person assigned to help people with ticket issues (mostly from Viator patrons!) I ended up having to call the International helpline number. Fortunately that person was able to send me my ticket!!! Suggestion - when someone buys and pays for the product (ticket) - just send it with the confirmation email!!! Assuming Wifi will always work is not always a sure thing. Let People chose to print or go with just phones.
I booked on a last movement, and was worth
A fascinating museum that sheds light on van Gogh’s life and reveals the stories behind his paintings and artistic development. It features several shops and offers a truly beautiful and impressive experience overall.
I would choose this tour over the live guide because it’s takes you through all the exhibits and you can linger if you like or replay the descriptions, you can also rest when you need to on one of the many benches and seating areas. When you pick up your listening device be sure to choose “extended” you’ll get a lot more info.
Absolutely stunning. Everything Van Gogh and Inspired. Was excited to see Monet pieces as well. This visit, we had an unexpected injury that needed to be accomodated. It is a lot of walking, but staff was wonderful to assist with elevators and extra access as needed.
The Van Gogh audio tour was very good. It provided entry tickets and basic information on many of the exhibits. Quite worthwhile
It was everything ok, I recommend it. On time………….. Super! All on the time and security, very well….
Great museum! Tickets were sold out on the museum website, so Viator to the rescue! The audio tour was good too!
Friendly staff , lines were not to long , clean space , beautifully displayed . Clean restrooms , care on premises
Wonderful museum. A definite must see. Viator was great to work with and get tickets that weren’t available at the museum
We arrived at the museum a few minutes before our scheduled time and were promptly let in. The workers were very helpful and assisted us in getting started. Having the digital tickets was good. The guided audio tour was great to listen to while visiting the museum. We could move as quickly as possible or stop where we wanted. Many other tourists wanted tickets and were trying to buy them but they weren't available. This booking was a great way to have it all taken care beforehand and not have to worry.
Amazing artist but troubled soul. Recommend this self guided tour for lovers of art. Great guft shop.
We enjoyed our time at the Van Gogh museum. Definitely recommend the audio tour as you get much more information.
Buying tickets online 7 days ahead for the Van Gogh museum went well. However, not receiving the e-tickets until the day before the event caused considerable uncertainty and some stress
The Van Gogh Museum is a must-see for any visitor to Amsterdam. Don’t miss it. The audio is a great accompaniment
Very nice and easy to do museum of Van Gogh in Amsterdam. I would recommend it to anyone that is visiting.
Don’t bother. Just book your tickets with the museum website. Viator adds no value. And they changed the time at last moment.
Quite a broad view of Van Gogh’s work and life. Audio tour was extremely helpful. Wouldn’t recommend for children.
The museum sells the tickets directly just buy from the museum. The museum was great but the experience of buying the same exact thing through the app made this way more confusing than it needed to be. Confusinn emails, instructions that dont make sense…
Audio tour was very helpful. Really enjoyed the pace and the pieces of art that are on display. Very nice atmosphere. Easy to access the tour.
The tour was very informative and insightful of a troubled soul. I was most impressed about his strong admiration for nature and those that worked in it.
