We got to experience the town despite not clocking in with our guide. Beautiful town and place here.

Itinerary
If you're taking either the public train or the tram lines throughout this stunning city, chances are pretty good that you'll pass through here. Being located in the heart of town, Amsterdam Centraal Station is a neo-Renaissance rail station that was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers and completed in 1889. It became the benchmark for clean, state-of-the-art public transport and above that, a beautiful historic building housing more than just an impressive transport hub! Here you will find lots of shops and places to grab a bite, so get energized as you have a long and fun way ahead with Questo! Solve a challenge here based on your immediate surroundings in order to advance to the next location.
You will get to this place by following a clue and solving a puzzle. Once there, you will get indications on how to continue your search for the treasure, while also learning about the place you've discovered.
Welcome to The Schreierstoren or The Weeping Tower! Don’t worry, you have nothing to cry about! Initially built as a defense tower in the 15th century, this place reminiscent of the medieval city of Amsterdam discloses some of the most fascinating stories. Its name comes from the fact that women wept there for their husbands, who would often leave from that port to go to war or to fishing. Either way, they were unsure if they would see their beloved ones again, so this place emotionally remained in history as a “departing spot”. But on a more optimistic note, the Weeping Tower is also famous for being the location from which Henry Hudson set sail on his journey to Northern America that lead to the discovery of the Manhattan Island. Nowadays, you can enjoy a coffee here in a nautical bookstore while searching for the next clue that Questo has prepared for you. Look around! Who knows, maybe you are sitting next to it.
It’s the year 1517 and Amsterdam is being under siege! Soldiers are coming your way and you need to find shelter as soon as possible so you can save your life. Where should you go? That’s right, the Montelbaanstoren is the place for you: a historic tower on Amsterdam’s Oude Schans canal built as part of the “Walls of Amsterdam” to defend the eastern side of the harbour from potential attacks. Whether you are cruising down the famous canals of Amsterdam or walking around this place, you will certainly spot this magnificent 48m-high structure. Mysteries and questions surround this place, but you have to answer only one of them to unlock its story and move on the next.
Now, you reached the most iconic place in the world where you can drive or walk on the red light! And I am not referring to the traffic lights, but to the best known red-light district from Amsterdam: De Wallen. Probably, you have heard about this neighbourhood before and to be honest, everything you have heard is mostly true. From brothels to sex shops to museums, the Amsterdam Red Light District has it all. Amsterdam prides itself, and rightly so, on its wholly liberal and tolerant attitude, embracing the fact that people may be into prostitution, soft drugs and pornography. So instead of criminalizing everything, they enjoy the honesty of it all. However, you don’t have to be a fanatic to go there, you will be surprised to find a very friendly atmosphere and not as dangerous as it used to be. Once here, you can spend as much time as you wish, but don’t forget that Questo has other places in store for you!
Nieuwmarkt is just around the corner! Located right in the center of Amsterdam, this square houses lots of cafes and restaurants, where you can feel like a local, this being a centre for commerce and socialising in Amsterdam since the 17th century. During WW2 the square was used by the Nazis as a collection point for the Jews that were unfortunate enough to be sent to the concentration camps. The Nieuwmarkt is dominated by the presence of a mysterious building known as De Waag, which was a major entry point to the city before the old city walls were destroyed. Filled with historical significance, here Rembrandt painted The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. And that’s not all. Want to know more? Search around you for the challenge to unlock the full story.
You are probably thinking right now how come in the middle of the Red-light District you can find a majestic church, namely the Oude Kerk or the Old Church. Whether it is for confessions or not, we can’t ignore its big and monumental architecture. The Oude Kerk is the oldest building from Amsterdam and for centuries was the most important church in the city. Nowadays, it is not a regular church anymore. Here, the art and music mingle together to create an unique experience. In 2016 the building also became an official museum, inviting contemporary artists to exhibit and interact with the historic space. If you are curious to know more about this peculiar church, then pray to God to reveal the hidden clues to you!
By now, we have learnt that Amsterdam is the city that likes to stand out from the crowd by being surprisingly nonconformist. If you thought you have seen it all, then get ready because the final destination is not one to miss. The Museum Ons'Lieve Heer Op Solder, which translates to “Our Lord in the Attic”, is a 17th-century house with a top floor converted into a Catholic church. This 3-in-1 combination of canal house, church and museum is tucked away in the heart of Amsterdam’s inner city and introduces you to the atmosphere of the unique Dutch Golden Age. Simbolizing the openmindedness of Amsterdam that stems from the past tolerance to freedom of religion, this boutique museum lures travellers inside for a bit of history. If you find the hidden clue (in the attic or not), then you can call yourself a true Questo explorer!

Very nice tour. I recommend it. All the hints are so easy to use and you even have pictures to help you. Nice landscape and well made.
This tour was really good fun and took us to places we hadn't seen during our weekend in Amsterdam. Very interesting facts along with the fun of being on a Treasure Tour. Easy to navigate.
Interesting walk through narrow streets of old Amsterdam, some of the searched points were difficult to find. The route on the map was helpful. For the future you should absolutely remark, that the way leads a short time through the "redlight district"!!! We made the tour with our grand-children and they were very astonishes and horrified about the "ladies" in the windows.
Wonderful walk around the city! Brilliant guide. Found out so many interesting facts. Will definitely use this game in other cities.
This was an amazing eclectic fun pub. The beers were great. No food but we were able to eat or cheese and crackers. It had a fabulous atmosphere and friendly (gorgeous) staff. Overall it was great to sit there and watch the red light district do it's thing
Brilliant fun on a rainy day. The second walk we’ve done and great fun. It took about 80 minutes and was both interesting and informative
Funny to do this in our hometown and still learning things we didn’t knew! See beautiful places and getting cought in to a story.
Was an interesting way to explore Amsterdam! There was story, guidance and also interesting historical facts about the different landmarks
A great way for a self guided walking tour with facts and history about this area of Amsterdam whilst having the fun of a "treasure hunt". Will look to do this again in other locations. Well done and thanks for this.
Great game ! Nice history, siteseeing and storyline. Fun to play and really nice done, especially the directions part.
Very fun! Enjoyed the tour of the city at my own pace. Hints were helpful for puzzles. Recommend to any age.
The tour from Amsterdam was a good way to discover the city, I enjoyed it with some friends. I will use it in other cities.
Fun and interesting way to see parts of the city we most definitely would have missed! Even at 32 a scavenger hunt is lots of fun! We found ourselves looking at buildings differently! And the story was a nice added feature.
It was a really nice walk in the old town of Amsterdam. Interesting and exciting. We got a lot of new info about Amsterdam.
Questo is a great "tour guide" app to explore the city with friends (or alone) while having more fun answering puzzles.
Very nice tour in the old part of the city. You can learn some history of older areas and building, fun and interesting!!
We enjoyed the quest very much. It Was an interesting and funny way to explore Amsterdam. We got to know the history of sightseeings.
Super fun and challenging way to explore Amsterdam. We played with four of us, all from UK and NZ, we actually split into two groups of two as local covid regulations meant groups of two the max. This added another layer, we competed against eachother to finish the fasted which was a bit crazy running around Amsterdam. Overall really enjoyed this and will definitely recommend to family and friends when they come to visit. It's like a bonus tour, you see everything and heat the stories but you also do it in a fun way
This quest took us to historical places in Amsterdam and told us the related storys. So we had a lot of fun, a great walk through the city and learned a bit from Amsterdam. We liked it very much and recommend it to everybody who wants to get to know something about Amsterdam. ❤️
Interesting way for touring the city. Just like have a tour guide, but at your own pace. Recommended for everyone.
Fun and interesting way to explore the part of Amsterdam city and learn some history at the same time! Batteries fully charged on all participants phones is a must!
A nice and fun way to know and learn stories about a city, at your own time, without rushing. Highly recommended
We did a hidden treasure adventure in Amsterdam and we (my mom and me) thought it was really great. We saw so much of the city and really thank you for the tour. Best wishes Melvin
Did this quest with a friend. Really fun! Some interesting facts along the way, great way to explore a city with friends and family! Would do another quest in a new city.
I really enjoyed this game! My sister told me about it and we decided to give it a chance. And I have to say, that it was a really good experience. We did this tour on our first day in Amsterdam and it helped us to get a good overview of the city. Also we saw some things we did not have on our tour schedule at first but as we stood in front of the buildings and the game taught us some interesting facts about it, we added it to our list. I would definitely recommend it! I will do it again in another city
Questo fullfilled all our needs when is about traveling and discovering new places .My 7 years old son had lots of fun,my husband was challenged by the game and myself just loved the possibility to discover a new city together with my family. Therefore I highly recommend Questo for families with kids. It was fun ,interactive ,original and also educative .
A very nice and interesting way to visit new places, to discover less know places. Instead of just viziting randomly, you have an interactive game and you learn a lot of local history and legends about the visited places. I highly recommend it!
My wife and I spent 1.5 hours doing the diamonds of medusa quest. It was great fun despite the rain, really got us looking closely at the buildings to find various clues. The app was simple to use and paying through it was easy too. Thanks!
We did this quest as a 3 people group using one phone. It was our first time using Questo and didn’t really know what to expect or if it’s worthy but we gave it a try anyway. After doing it which took about 2 hours, I can say that it’s totally worth it and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The app is very intuitive and easy to use, the back story is quite interesting, the puzzles aren’t super easy, nor too hard but the best part is that we got to visit little gems of Amsterdam that we would probably missed otherwise. I recommend doing it with friends or family as it is a very relationship strengthening activity. Looking forward to doing other quest too!
We discovered the famous red light district of Amsterdam through a game of track that took us from clue to clue
Very nice treasure hunt through old Amsterdam. Although I know the city very well, you still had to look at the surroundings a little differently. Highly recommended
The story of the game allowed us to discover the city, in complete autonomy, in a way we would not have been able to do on our own, with cool anecdotes!
The questions are really fun and with a very accessible level of difficulty. The duration of the game and the distance covered are perfect to discover the neighborhood without walking too much.
Very good background information. Tour is easily done and you can always pause. Unfortunately, some hints are rather misleading, which is why you often have to use a tip.
Cette activité nous a permis de découvrir des coins de la ville dans lesquels nous n'étions pas passés, les trajets pour aller d'un point à un autre sont assez courts et nous emmènent dans des ruelles agréables. Je conseille entre amis ou en famille!
It was a great experience. Good mix of history, story and discoveries we wouldn't have seen otherwise. But it is more fun as a couple or in a group than alone. You almost reach the starting point again.
We had to write to the Service to activate the tour, this left us slightly confused as we tried such a tour for the first time. But after that it was great. We also took a break and ate something in between. It was also nice to choose the time and speed yourself. In the end, unfortunately, we got lost somehow and were already a few streets away from the actual destination, so unfortunately the hint didn't help us either, so we ultimately had to resort to Google to find the right place. Our conclusion: We can only recommend this and will try it in other cities.
