We enjoyed the self guided, self paced food tour. It allowed us to wander the neighborhood and enjoy the foods we were most interested in trying. The food tour picks were excellent and we would eat at all of them again!

An fun afternoon exploring. One location was under new ownership and wouldn't accept oir tickets for food. Otherwise, everyone was quite accommodating amd friendly.
The shops are not aware of the organization. It was always necessary to explain the I Amsterdam Card oportunity given to us in this organization. Even one of the shops (a butcher shop) are rude to foreign tourists. Sorry but I donot recoment this event.
This was so fun and amazing to self pace and the shops all knew what to give us and it was discounted and a good portion size. Excellent use of time and balance of fun and education.
We signed up for this as part of our IAmsterdam card benefits. I think the concept is great -- trying a bunch of different foods at special rates and on your own timeline. But, only 3 vendors were open when we did the tour, even though more were supposed to be open according to the tour information. Some vendors we couldn't find at all, some that were supposed to be at the street market. I guess the tour operators can't control whether the vendors are present or not, but it was frustrating walking around trying to find vendors that just weren't there. We were able to try 3 vendors -- the war fries, deli meat combo, and asian deli combo. All were great but the war fries were amazing!
Not worth the effort. The places along the way are fairly busy. The recommendations are okay. In one of the places, the cashier talked me out of the recommended item and suggested that I order what turned out to be this crappy sandwich. I think they didn’t want to bother selling the suggested thing to order.
Nice little tour and really good street food. We particularly appreciate advice on our choice in Mezzave. Other stops are also welcoming
Great route. We tasted surprising delicious food that we would never have gone without the suggestions. And the prices were also great.
It was nice to try a range of food through the local businesses in de Pijp. Some were very helpful, and even made suggestions some didn’t even know what I was talking about or just weren’t pleased about it. The weather probably didn’t help the mood of some! The staff at the Mezze fantastic
This tour was exactly what we needed during our short stay in Amsterdam. At every stop the staff was so welcoming when I showed them my phone with the tour stop on it. The croquettes were our favorite! It was nice to not actually have to rush to keep up with a group. We had to cut it short due to the cold rain but it was definitely a fun little adventure.
Very fun way to navigate the many food offerings in the market. Great cross section of cultures. Would recommend.
This was a fantastic option for my boyfriend and I who started this tour as soon as we arrived in the city. It was a great way to explore a little and learn about some of the history of the cultures within the city. All of the vendors were really friendly and helpful, particularly the ladies in FEBO who were great at explaining the flavours and which to go for! Unfortunately two of the outlets we wanted to go to were closed on the day we went but this didn’t take away from how good the tour is. The guide is jam packed with information and ideas about what to eat. Would definitely recommend to those happy to undertake an informal tour at their own pace.
We were a little disappointed with the tour, not all of the vendors were accommodating. The ice-cream shop said they weren't doing it, we then felt awkward as if we were an inconvenience. It put us off finishing the rest of the tour. However, the first two venues were great.
It's a brilliant tour with a wide variety of delicious food stops and friendly faces greeting us at each one. We also loved the De Pijp area so thank you for tempting us there with a food tour! The only slight issue we had was that we had 2 kids with us who were really looking forward to the stops at the Stroopwafel and panake stops but both were closed on a Wednesday. No big problem though since there were plenty of market stalls serving those up anyway!
Excellent choice to start a visit to Amsterdam with a very lively neighborhood, popular with its Saturday market to get you in the mood. The stages offered are of high quality and the formula offers reduced budgets for a tasting and a guaranteed welcome. Do not miss !
So fun! Delicious food, friendly teams, a great experience. Each of the food stops was so different and was a great combination of food, a short distance walk away
For first timer the activity was a great way to introduce some culinary experience in Amsterdam. It also has some discount coupons to buy certain product for a taste. If you have it from the Amsterdam card, it is ok to join as it can be a good starter before exploring more of the city
It's a worthwhile visit. Locals were awesome, the quality of the food was superb and it was a very interesting taste of diferents specialties. Everywhere charged us what the selfguied tour said theywould or even less!!! Everyone was so friendly! Cheese at the cheese place was one of our favourites, and the apple pie too, the fish shop was a tasty surprise, but the girl at Mr. Mokum took our hearts. When we arrived there, she only had leftovers because it was late, so she encouraged us to come back the next day if it was possible, She was so sincere, that we decided to come back for lunch the next day and it was lovely!!! Very tasty and different sandwiches. (We couldn't taste the ice creaam place, because it was the only place closed this time of the year). A peace and realixing walk tour in a friendly borrough.
Tjin’s Toko and Rudy’s Stroopwafel were incredible! I am truly heartbroken there are no Surinamese restaurants in Toronto.
We were not able to download the walking tour so I paid for nothing. Chaos!!!!! No one available for assistance. Request a refund.
We had a fun time checking out the various food sites. And, the owners/greeters/servers were each so welcoming and helpful. Plus, we enjoyed the ‘story’ behind each of the places.
Had a wonderful food experience at the Pijp. Very comfortable to have self-guided tour if you want to walk in your own speed and experience things on your own. Everything was very clear at guide as adress is linked to maps so the only thing you need id wifi to open google maps. All food stalls were open and I was doing tour on Monday. Stalls are located near each other so I just started tour at the beginning of market and walked till the end. It's a great guide if you want to try Dutch food from locals. I highly recommend it, moreover in the end of guide there are extra recommendations for lunch/dinner.
We accessed this tour through the I amsterdam City Card but honestly, we would have purchased it anyway! It's so nice to be able to go at your own pace and the PDF guide is very informative. We went on a Friday and were able to visit the first 6 stalls on the guide as we were full towards the end, but it seemed like everything was open that day. If you're not a pre-travel researcher, this would be a great thing to do at the top of your trip, especially to see if you like Surinamese food (we did and ended up getting more later on in our trip). I'd say go closer to the middle of the day rather than the end, but even at just before 5pm (when the stalls close), you can get the full experience.
This was a wonderful experience! I had to call to find out how to download the instructions and Rachael was really friendly and helpful. It made me feel like a friend was giving me the local lowdown. The PDF has lots of interesting information about each stop. And all the places knew the special order so it was easy. I loved getting to explore De Pijp and want to go back. All the food was delicious, especially the fresh stroopwaffels. We were very full and ready for a nap. And I brought some things to take back to my apartment for snacks.
Purchased three tickets for this (obv could've bought just one but the site asks you tbh) and it started well but overall a poor experience. 1. Croquettes were lovely. 2. Surinamese nice. 3. Israeli ok. (each to their own) 4. 'We're closed' They were open but not serving Haring - couldn't see recommended replacement. 5. Closed. 6. Closed. 7. 'Never heard of this tour' Gave up. I hate leaving bad reviews but I couldn't recommend this. Take a walk down Albert Cuyp and sample at your own choice, if they're open.
This was really fun and you can really go at your own pace. Come back to things when you feel full etc. I thought it would be awkward to go to the counter and say I’m on a self guided food tour… not at all. All the shop keepers were super happy to see me and help me. So delicious so much fun. Maybe space it out a little cause there is a lot to eat.
As its name implies, it is a self guided tour. You get a PDF with 7-8 stops for food within the market. It was a fantastic introduction to some of the Dutch street food and we loved sampling all the food. The kids always wanted to buy croquettes once they tried it.
This activity is set up VERY well! It was easy to follow the PDF and the shops were great. Be wary of your timing to be sure to get to each location before they close!
We received this tour as a freebie with the Amsterdam City Card and decided to try some of these places. The tour is self-guided meaning you can decided which restaurant you want to visit and when, according to your tastes. When you initially book the tour, you need to select a times lot but the actual timing is absolutely optional and we completed it over the course of two days, rather than sticking to the time slot. We found some of these places quite tasty, while others where more questionable. In general, we enjoyed the tour as it forced us to walk around the city and learn a bit more about its history and food tradition. If you buy a city card, I think you should definitely go for it, but I am not sure if it's worth purchasing separately as you basically get a PDF that you need to follow. Plus, with the city card you get some discounts you will not be able to obtain otherwise.
This was educational, a lot of fun and the food choices were great. It was convenient to have "experts" identify traditional Dutch foods and desserts (and the best places to find them), and then simply go and enjoy them! Even when places were busy, we seemed to get a little extra attention and a smile when we told them we were doing the Foodie Tour. An added bonus was that most of the places were located in the open market (we went on a Saturday) so we got to experience that as well. Everything is worth trying, but we definitely had our favorites!
This is a great walking tour and the poffertjes stand alone is worth the investment. They were the best ones we tried in all of Amsterdam. This is a great way to spend a couple of hours in AMS.
Great experiences! The walk in the streets and on the market is worth the detour, taste original and tasty dishes!
None of the traders knew this circuit so no discount. But following the recommendations we received about twenty euros, which respects what was indicated. All the food recommendations were delicious and varied and typical of the Netherlands (except one) The tour of the market was really a great time with my daughter and lasted 3 hours as we strolled through this market looking for souvenirs. Only one shopkeeper was not there despite the morning rain and cold. This tour was part of the map I Amsterdam. Strolling the streets and buying street food where there are people would also have been a nice gastronomic circuit.
We presented ourselves in shops with the famous pdf we were received as a simple customer with just a small discount or nothing at all good to order what is on the menu. The only explanations we have are on this famous pdf. Very disappointed with this tour announced as a magnificent experience.
