Really enjoyed this activity, did it as part of our leadership meeting and had lunch on the boat, such a nice way to see Amsterdam.

Beyond incredible experience. My wife and I spent an unbelievable two hours aboard for a dinner cruise for her birthday. Our tour guide was delightful and able to answer all our questions. The dinner from Red was beyond delicious, we had the rib eye and the chocolate cake. Honestly 10/10. The best way to see the sights of Amsterdam.
Thank you Oliver! Outstanding guidance, history, food, and amenities.
Absolutely amazing experience. We did the 2 hour dinner cruise during sunset and it exceed expectations. We ordered food from the restaurant Red and the food was delicious. The boat pulled right up to the side of the street and the waiter brought our food right to our boat plated and all! We enjoyed leisurely sailing through the canals and taking in all the views. It was well worth the money!
We had a great time seeing Amsterdam from a different perspective after walking the city all day. The captain, and captain-in-training, were very friendly and offered the right amount of conversation, insights about the city history, and service that made the evening very enjoyable. The food was very good, just the right amount and pacing to enjoy conversation and the sights. I highly recommend this activity for anyone visiting the city.
Wonderful experience. Our Captain was great. He was a great guide for the city. A fabulous meal. Highly recommend.
This boat ride was an amazing ride and to top it off Joost was a fantastic host & captain. It’s hard to describe with words how enjoyable he made the dinner + cruise such an unforgettable experience. I learned so much about Amsterdam culture in those two hours then in my entire trip, and the food was tasty and lovely as well. Thank you Boat Boys & Joost for an unforgettable experience! -Joshua
Captain was excellent: friendly, and knowledgeable. City is very beautiful from the water. Food wad gery tasty, somewhat limited menu though:
We had an absolutely amazing night! The boat was beautiful, offering the perfect setting for a romantic evening. Mark, our skipper, was incredible – so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely great to chat with. He really made the experience feel personal and relaxed. Seeing Amsterdam from the water was mesmerizing. The views were stunning, and it gave us a whole new appreciation for the city’s charm and beauty. This was hands down the best romantic date experience we’ve had in Amsterdam – intimate, unique, and truly memorable. We can’t recommend it enough! To top it all off, the food from the restaurant was outstanding – cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.
Our captain and tour guide, Sven, was very knowledgeable and engaging. He was the best part of the tour. The food was average. The tour was overpriced.
The trip was amazing, what a great, intimate way to see the city!!! The boat (Ritz) is a beautiful old classic that is in pristine condition. Our guide Jost was very informative and friendly. I will definitely be coming back and would definitely recommend adding it to your list of things to do in Amsterdam.
AMAZING!!! I would highly recommend ! Food was fantastic as well as the host. The boat was perfect for a couple.
From the first contact to Robertino by eMail it felt like the right decision to book this private tour on the Szar. The response time to email by the Boatboys is fabulous and makes you feel like an appreciated and valued customer. My girlfriends were absolutely taken by the historic boat Szar, food and canal panorama. Like in the movies. All in all an experience that you will never forget. Great as a finishing polish to an Amsterdam city trip. We were accompanied by captain Scott who could have been chosen specifically for our group of four. He was easy to talk to, always hit the right sense of humour and made us feel utterly comfortable, he just blended in. His knowledge of the city is great and he managed the tour including food pickup and bathroom stop professionally.
The dinner cruise was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. The food was excellent and our captain was amazing - very knowledgeable on Amsterdam history, great sense of humor, made you feel comfortable and never felt rushed. It was great to have the private boat experience instead of the large packed tourist vessels.
Great experience on this very nice and sleek wood boat (with electric propulsion). Super good guide, a wealth of knowledge (and history graduate) and very nice with us. Dinner (ordered at vanderkaarte) above our (low) expectations : this was good actually. Just the wine served on board was quite average. Overall a great experience that will remain in our memory. Thanks !!
This was such a lovely birthday gift for my partner. It’s a beautiful boat. The tour guides were accommodating, fun, and great story tellers. They’re vegan friendly and the vegan cake they got us from a local bakery was absolutely amazing. We took the 10pm night tour and it was so nice to have the canals all to ourselves. I’d go again and I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet, romantic evening.
Captain Nickel thank you so much! Wonderful night, super food! We will wait u in italy! Fantastic simply super night! Reccomended experience!
Great overall experience . Small, private and excellent boat captained by Mark, who was pleasant, informative and knowledgeable.
Easy communication and the boat was clean and in excellent condition. Mark, our captain, was great. Food was spectacular. You order while you are on the boat and then we stopped two times to have it brought to the boat by a local restaurant (Main/Dessert). Really great. Drinks (wine, beer and champange) are included. This is a must if you are in Amsterdam and want a quiet dinner cruise that is professionally operated. Excellent view of the canals. A+
Absolutely excellent!!! Our guide was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and the champagne was great. Highly recommend!
It was a best experience ever!! absolutely recommanded. They just replied my request for a proposal for my fiance and made a wonderful surpise event for her!
We arrived in Amsterdam, dropped our bags at the hotel and hurried to meet the boat, Undine, for a private 2 hour canal tour with dinner. Our tour lasted from 6:30 until about 9. We had a wonderful time and recommend this tour super highly. It would work for groups of 2-4 (5 might be possible, but a bit cramped). It is so much nicer and more personal than the big canal tour boats. Our guide Joost was an excellent host for the evening. He pulled up the boat right on time, helped us onboard and gave us some sparkling wine as a welcome drink. Joost explained some of the history of the boat and its current owners. We stayed in the main area near the pickup spot while we sorted out the dinner menus. We wanted vegan options so we went for a vegan sushi order, but there are also 2 other very nice Dutch restaurants to order from the menu. The way it works is that your group decides the food order and tells the guide, then the guide will phone the restaurant and arrange a pickup spot part way through the tour. Make sure to come hungry because the portions can be big. After that, the tour began in earnest and Joost guided us all around the central canals and the river Amstel. He talked about sailing history and ecological history in the area as well as the houseboats, various historic buildings and other sites. The tour doesn't focus on hitting any specific "sights" so to speak, just meandering and enjoying lovely canal views. You can also all sorts of questions and request the guide to go to any specific areas if you want - it's very easy going and flexible. The nice thing about the private guide - and what we really loved about Joost - is that you also get to hear personal stories and more details about life in the region and other parts of the Netherlands. Joost had many funny and interesting stories to tell as well as many stories from his personal travels and experience in watersports and sailing. This led naturally into conversation with us about our own travel stories and made the whole evening feel more like a big dinner party than a garden variety guided tour. At the end of the tour you settle up on the dinner bill and any additional charges for wine or drinks you order on the boat (they have a few bottles of red, white and sparkling wine, some soft drinks, water and beer). A few minor points to know before booking: this boat does not have a bathroom. Be sure to use the bathroom before your tour starts. At the end of the tour when we were dropped off, our guide pointed us to a hotel nearby with a bathroom we could use, but for a 2.5 hour tour with dinner and drinks, I could see if reaching a limit for some. Also, the pickup spot is a little out of the way from central Amsterdam. It is to the west of the main train station along a bit of a busy street with tram and bicycle crossing to watch out for. Once you reach a large Chinese restaurant (Sea Palace) there is a wooden dock area. The boat will pull up in that area at your starting time. The company website is also a bit minimalistic. You won't get a lot of official-looking confirmation emails like you would with a bigger tour and if you want to be extra careful or you are worried you could be late or something, you will want to email the booking address ahead of time to get a contact number you can use for last minute stuff. Initially we were a little skeptical of the website booking process because it felt so minimalistic, but it's a small business so just adjust expectations accordingly. We had no issues with payment processing or anything like that.
Relaxing ride in a classic boat. Good vantage for taking pictures. Food from Red Restaurant was excellent.
Amazing tour, great concept and great hosts! We loved it. Thank you so much. Highly recommended. Great to order food from local restaurants as well. So clever
what a super evening with delicious food. nice conversations with the skipper really recommended.
Such a lovely evening we had. We've experienced Amsterdam in another way during a wonderfull dinner from Red & Black. Thanks a lot!
Our experience was originally booked for 4 people, however it turned out to be just the 2 of us, but it was no less memorable an evening as a result. We had no idea what to expect but to say that our evening was truly wonderful doesn't do it justice. We had the most charming and entertaining host who took care of our every need. His tour guide knowledge was quite excellent, he was respectful of our privacy, but also engaged to make our evening fun and we were certainly looked after in style. Wowed by the fantastic views, we enjoyed a delicious meal, evening drinks and one of the most perfect, delightful, magnificent evenings we could have wished for. We will most certainly book again and would highly recommend this experience.
We celebrate our 10 year anniversary by going for the two hour dinner. It was really romantic with the Amsterdam light festival. The skipper is well educated on the history, architecture and light artworks to give you a fascinating tour. I would highly recommend boatboys for any romantic trips around Amsterdam.
If you ever want to have an unforgetable and romantic diner experience, book a private dinner tour. Just the two of us, a very friendly captain whoe knows a lot about Amsterdam's history and excellent food of your own choice. The boat stops at the various restaurants to pick up the food of your selection. And seeing the beautifule houses near the canals of Amsterdam form the waterside is a really unique experience. We had choosen for a lunch, sail off at 12.30 en returned at 15.00 hours, full of memories. We have made a new booking already to experience Amsterdam Light Festival from the waterside.
We had a lovely time sailing through the Amsterdam Canals with Captain Carl! We had a lovely meal, learned a bit about the history and culture of the area and even got to see where the King's Daughter lives. Would certainly do it again!
We enjoyed a wonderful two hour ride through Amsterdam and with the two course dinner served right to the Boat! Carl was wonderful to talk to throughout the trip and even gave us more ideas of fun things to do in Amsterdam with our children. The meal was wonderful! We were able to order just what we wanted and even have some modifications for our children's meals without any issue. Our only wish was that we booked a longer ride! Highly suggest this experience during your stay in Amsterdam!
Lovely boat, very friendly skipper, interesting sailing route, good food. In one word: unforgettable!
Captain Carl was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The cuisine, service, historical and cultural conversations were all excellent. We highly recommend using Boat Boys!
Such an amazing way to see the city. I booked a 6pm boat ride with 2 course meal. I conversed with The BoatBoys beforehand and they couldn’t have been more accommodating to my requests. Once onboard, Carl was excellent, his passion for being on the water and showing off Amsterdam was infectious and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple of hours. I (successfully) proposed, the food was fantastic & we could have easily spent another couple of hours meandering down the canals. Couldn’t recommend more.
Absolutely wonderful cruise. Carl is an amazing captain and so informative. The cruise was so relaxing with such beautiful canals. The restaurants chosen had a great variety to chose from and the food was delicious. We will definitely plan on another cruise our next time in Amsterdam!
Carl was an excellent guide on our two-hour boat and dinner tour. It is the best way to see Amsterdam. The food was fantastic and delivered to our boat. Boat boy's dining experience is a must in Amsterdam!
This was an amazing way to end our trip in Amsterdam. It was absolutely stunning and I would do this all over again if I ever visit Amsterdam again. It is a totally different experience on the water than by foot! The boat was stunning, the food was great, the Captain was so great accommodating my husband and I with our 3 kids. It was just fantastic and I would highly recommend Boat Boys!
We did the lunch tour with four people. It was great! Excellent food and the skipper told us very much about the surroundings. Highly recommended!!
It was excellent with Carl! We did a 3 hr tour and had a two course meal. Excellent food. We had our two adult children with us and they loved it as well. He is very informative and I can’t wait to go see the I love Holland exhibition on Carl's recommendation . We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! Great experience. Thank you so much! When you visit Canada look us up and we will take you to some great wineries! Mike and Natalie Pullar
We did the dinner tour with five people. It was an unforgettable unique thing experience. The boat has been beautifully restored and the skipper Mark made sure we had a great time.
Certainly the best boat cruise we got since we moved to The Netherlands. It was a relaxing, romantic, comfortable experience. Food was awesome, the conversation was pleasant and I will certainly do this again. Highly recommended specially if you are looking for a more unique reserved experience.
A family of 5 from NY/NJ had a private dinner canal cruise in June of 2022. The bait picked us up at 8:30 pm and showed us beautiful Amsterdam for 2 hours. It was so romantic and cozy. The food was amazing too. We had tuna sashimi, fish soup, shrimps from Red and steaks from Black. It really was magical. We have been to so many beautiful places but this was really special. Highly recommended👍
We actually had a 3 hour 3 course dinner cruise. It was great, Carl is an efficient, friendly and relaxed host. Food was really good even though it has to be brought on to the boat.
We recently went on a 2-course dinner cruise with Carl aboard his awesome boat. What a great experience! First off, the cruse takes place in the early evening which is a perfect time to be on the canal - much less crowded and you can see folks enjoying their post work get togethers in the cafes. It turns out Carl lives on the canal and has HUGE local knowledge. Because of the size of his boat he is able to go down some of the smaller canals that bigger boats cannot access. You really get a taste for what the day-to-day life is like for the people living on the canals as you see them BBQing after work. The dinner menus and restaurant pick-ups worked out perfect and the food was terrific. Just WOW all around! This was the highlight of our Amsterdam visit and I highly recommend. Both my wife and I continue to comment on what a great guy Carl is. He is the kind of guy you wish was your next door neighbor!
Awesome, comfortable boat ride with Robertino who was knowledgeable and engaging. Food was excellent and weather beautiful. Great way to see and experience Amsterdam. Boat in great shape and full of character. Highly recommend!!
Just finished my second Dinner Cruise with Carl, and it will not be our last! Last summer I cruised with my family and we learned so much about the history and canals while enjoying an amazing dinner. This week, celebrating a big birthday with my best friend, Carl treated us to a completely different (still amazingly delicious!) tour full of anecdotes and insight into Dutch culture and also tipped us off to many incredible off the beaten track spots to visit as well. The cruise is worth every penny and you will walk away with unforgettable memories and a better understanding of this unbelievable city. Try for the last cruise, you get to see the sunset + the canals are beautiful when the lights come up. Dankjewel, Carl + Robert!
we had a 3 hours tour on the canals with a nice dinner and good mood from the Captain( thanks again)! Wine he choose was excellent! Sunset is specially nice on the water.
Unforgettable evening in a superb boat and a sublime city. Carl was an extremely friendly host who shares his anecdotes and his passion for his work. I had also booked a French guide (I forgot his name.. sorry) who was also very pleasant and attentive. It was a treat to spend an evening in such good company. Thanks again for everything.
What a wonderful evening we had. A fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. We will definitely come back in the spring. Thank you Robertino and Carl for taking good care of us!
Very nice tour with excellent food and a great captain. We enjoyed a great deal. Everything was just fine.
