Remco/Rubio grew up in the area and knows all of the fabulous spots and history. Our favorite stop was a family owned cheese shop where we were able to taste fresh milk and cheese. We were supposed to bike today but it was pouring rain so he offered to drive us in his nice car. We were glad to still be able to see the windmills and scenery. Highly recommend!

Solo bike tour with local Dutch guide, Rubio. Good communication and met up at Weesp which is just 18 minute train from central station. We biked about 3hours: brown cafe, pass by the castle, see several windmills. One windmill actually spinning with sails. Drank fresh milk and had good cheese. Very pleasant 😎
Beautiful day exploring the countryside! The weather was perfect and we had lots of stops to rest, hydrate and learn some history.
What a great way to see and the stunning countryside. Weesp is a pretty town to enjoy lunch or a drink by the river after the tour. We had perfect weather and a very knowledgeable guide. Easy flat ride.
Remco was a great guide! Had some trouble finding a correct bike for me as I’m short, but he made it happen! The tour was great and we saw everything as promised. Remco is very knowledgeable about the history of the region and the water management systems (canals/windmills/dikes). Great way to see something outside of Amsterdam!
Amazing scenery, windmills, dairy farms, stunning landscapes, nice cheese, fantastic unpasteurzied milk, WW2 remains and much more....I really recommand to this tour. We are a couple in our sixties.
We had an excellent tour with Remco! It was pretty cold and windy with rain so we opted to go by car instead of bike. This was a great option and I was very thankful! The terrain was very flat, so biking would not have been challenging, just the weather was not cooperating. Remco is very friendly and puts you right at ease. It was great to get out of the city and see the picturesque small towns, so charming, pastoral and beautiful! Like a time from long ago! Nothing to compare back in the United Sates, a truly unique experience. Beautiful windmills, canals, and farms. Remco is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot! A must-do experience! I would love to come back for a tulip tour in the spring.
Outstanding tour with Roberto our guide. Outside central Amsterdam viewing Weesp countryside, windmills, the castle, farmland and the visit to the cattle/dairy farmer. Pace was excellent!!
Outstanding tour with Roberto. He paced it out well with explanations and history of this great area 15 mins outside Amsterdam by train. Great scenery of farms, windmills, the castle and the surrounding area. The visit to the cattle farm was awesome and the fresh milk and cheese were great. My wife and I highly recommend!!!!
Remco was on time. He showed us some beautiful parts of the countryside with a trip to a farm. He was knowledgeable about Dutch engineering which we found fascinating. A wonderful day.
Freddy was a fabulous tour guide through the Dutch countryside. We took an easy train ride from the city and we biked to a farm, a windmill, and more. Very fun and a nice escape from bustling Amsterdam!
Our guide was Franky. He was interesting and took us on a wonderful bike ride, but it was a little slow getting started because he didn't have the bikes ready for us and we had to take a little detour to the bike shop to fill the tires on one and get the chain adjusted on another. Once we got going, the ride was beautiful and we stopped to take pictures by a castle, stopped for fresh milk, and stopped at a windmill. The little town of Weesp is very cute!!
Pretty countryside tour, but a few things to note before you go: A) confirm the itinerary with the host before you go. We did not do at least 80% of what was advertised on TripAdvisor. When noted during the tour, our guide Franky blamed US for misinterpreting the details! There is no cheese tasting as promised, nor entry into castle grounds (just viewed from very afar). B) you must be an expert bike rider to sustain on this tour. My two friends and I were only presented 3 bikes and when we requested the seats to come down, he said that it was okay to have our legs hyper extended! Thankfully he helped my one friend out at a local bike shop because she insisted. Not the best way to begin a tour (telling the customer they should not feel the way they do!). Their “quiet bike paths with minimal traffic” were in fact very busy roads where pedestrians and drivers shared. We had to walk our bikes off the path twice to avoid begin hit by massive trucks! Not for the weary of heads. C) half the sites were closed or blocked off due to construction or other reason. It was a Thursday, so they should’ve offered some alternatives. D) the guide only offered personal stories, very minimal history or historical significance was discussed. At the end of the day, this tour is VERY overpriced for what you get, and god forbid you turn into one of the previous clients who fell into a ditch head first or had trouble operating the too-tall bike… It’s too bad, we had a set of expectations based on the tour description and were let down. Proceed with caution, or take your business elsewhere.
My wife and I, highly recommend! Remco was a terrific guide and gave us some great history behind all the great scenery. Not to mention we all had just great conversation and time riding together. We would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
The sightseeing was awesome. The bike equipment was awful. Nothing more to say than that….other than the rating system requires 100 characters.
Remco gave us a wonderful private tour! It was educational and entertaining. We learned so much about Amsterdam and it's history. The bike ride was like riding through a movie, so picturesque and peaceful.
We had an absolutely fantastic time with Remco. The route was fantastic and we really enjoyed all of the history, facts, and interesting (often amusing) side notes. Weesp and the neighboring town with castle are very special. The bikes fit us perfectly (we have 2 tall, 2 short in our family), which we all appreciated-- very comfortable . One highlight among many was tasting fresh milk and ice cream. It was everything I hoped it would be for our family-- a private tour, a great day biking (very good exercise) in fresh air with beautiful countryside. Very personal and also very professional. Fun and memorable. Highly recommend.
A long, rambling bike ride through the country with the energetic and effusive Remco. Not only does he know a lot of great facts about the Netherlands, but he takes you on a lovely, scenic route through some picturesque countryside.
The scenery was lovely but overall the tour was disappointing. We could have had similar experience renting a bike and doing a self guided tour (I would recommend this option - trails are well marked and easy to navigate). It cost $350CAD (4 people) plus additional 60 euros cash for bike rental (read this in the fine print). It was advertised as 3-4 hours and we were dropped off in 2 hours. We have done similar bike tours in many cities in Europe and have never been disappointed. In this case, we generally felt rushed and that our guide was not engaged at all.
My husband and I absolutely loved this bike tour! Our tour guide Remco was so friendly! He made us feel very welcome, and he was amazing with the information about his country and showing us a beautiful countryside! He’s also a great photographer too and captured us with some awesome scenery. I highly recommend this tour! I wish Remco could be our tour guide for all the Netherlands!!
It was a wonderful day. Our guide was fun and informative. It really surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend.
I wish there was a way to separate out the tour from the equipment and the guide. Overall, we enjoyed cycling in the countryside. BUT, we paid for a "private tour," and it was not. Not much we could do, on the spot. We paid $15 euro per bike rental fee, on top of activity fee, and that was laughable, because the bikes couldn't have been worth $15 euro each, never mind rental. Brakes literally squealing/broken, resulted in accident and injury; others on tour had bike seats that kept releasing and lowering, spontaneously (hence, the accident/injury). No bikes suitable for taller riders (and there's no shortage of tall people in The Netherlands). Guide expressed his views the government was trying to buy out farms to control the people through controlling the food chain, and climate change denialist. Can NOT get close to the castle that is depicted in tour/reviews. Rip off that could easily be fixed with standard operating bikes and not forcing group tour when billed as private. The ride itself was flat, easy, the towns and farms cute, but it felt like a scam.
Ramko was super nice and knowledgeable. He always made sure to adjust his speed to accommodate everyone.
An excellent, must do experience! My family and I joined our guide, Remco, for a bike ride through the Dutch countryside on a very chilly (about 40 degrees F), very windy, and somewhat drizzly March day. We had such a great time the weather was irrelevant! Remco guided us through beautiful villages, past authentic windmills (two of which are still in use), to a farm where we sampled fresh milk and homemade ice cream, past WWII bunkers, and more. In addition to teaching us the history of the area, he also filled us in on current events and issues facing the local citizens. Near the end of our week in Europe, I asked my family to list their favorite experiences and every person mentioned the bike tour as being in their top two (watching Real Madrid v. Liverpool at Santiago Bernabeu took 1st place for two of them). It is an awesome experience all ages will enjoy (our group was 50, 44, 17, 15 and 12), and I would do it again in an instant.
This was definitely an extremely unique experience. It was a cold morning but that didn't bother us. Remco was a great guide and was really fun to talk to.
If you are looking to get out of the city for the day this was the way to go. Remco was our guide and he could not have been friendlier. He had a great sense of humor and showed us some interesting views and gave us some interesting facts about the area. I highly recommend this tour opposed to the big touristy groups. The bike ride was fairly easy. We took the train from the central station to Weesp. At the end of the tour my husband and I had a couple of beers and lunch at the Wiesp Brewery which used to be a church. Great day!
Fantastic tour along the idyllic countryside just 25 minutes by train from Amsterdam Central station. Absolutely enjoyed it. It’s suitable for any level of bike drivers - I haven’t been cycling for quite some years, and I was fine throughout the ride, and was able to enjoy the views while riding after a couple of minutes of getting used to it. Overall, 10 out of 10!
Remco led us on an excellent 2-1/2 hour tour of the countryside around Weesp, NL. Some of the planned stops at cheese shop and clogs were not available. Other notes - bike rental charge of 15Eu/each is additional. Also be aware that there is significant political commentary that you may not be aligned with.
Booked online so excited to go on this. Had to take two trains to get there. And pay to get cash currency exchange. Got there 20 minutes early called five minutes after the tour was supposed to start. Sent messages on here continued to call wasted two hours and a ton of money couldn’t get an Uber or taxi to even take to the castle. He replied later saying he was sorry……Not acceptable or Professional. Please use a legit company. Would Not recommend to Anyone.
Remcof was an exceptional guide who took us around town on our bikes. He met us at the train station and then we rode to a windmill and went inside to see the grinding of wheat (only on Saturdays)! Then he took us to a working dairy farm that had a little shop where we could buy cheese, by the local castle, and then to another cute shop where we tried the freshest milk. We got pictures in two different places of us in front of a windmill. It was a lovely day out in the fresh air and one of our favorite activities of our travels.
WOW doesn’t even describe this tour. Remco is so nice and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed our entire trip to Amsterdam, but this tour was by far our favorite part.
Awesome beautiful ride through lovely town and country side , Remco was knowledgeable and fun to be with
We had horrible weather while in Amsterdam. Remco kept on top of the weather and touched base the day before to check our itinerary to see if we could go another day. With another day set, that day's weather was also not awesome. So instead of biking, he picked us up in the city in his car and took us sightseeing. We couldn't leave without seeing the countryside and windmills. Remco went above and beyond to make sure we checked everything off our list.
I am SO happy I booked this tour! Don't visit Amsterdam without venturing outside of the city! The city is nice, but the surroundings are absolutely idyllic and gorgeous and a must-see. Remco is an amazing guide and really knows his stuff—including the best precise spots for photos. It was great to not have to worry about maps or figuring out which route to take (I was also thinking about just renting a bike and going myself, but I'm very glad I booked the tour instead). The biking is nice and easy, just one little hill, and it was the most relaxed I've felt in ages (I'm in the last semester of writing a dissertation, so relaxation is very difficult to achieve). I loved every one of the stops, especially getting to meet the local sheep, cows, dogs, and cats. Don't let the time of year stop you either. My tour was in mid January, and 40 degrees F was just right, I think, though I got lucky that the sun was shining. Cheese farm cheese is DELICIOUS...brought home a few cheese hunks and can't wait to eat my cheese and reminisce! I'm definitely hoping to go back in the future to explore the countryside more, and if I do, I'll be looking to book more tour time with Remco.
Not only was this tour beautiful because it takes you to away from the city life and shows you another side of Holland and Amsterdam but the tour guide, Remco, was great! He was friendly, informative and catered to us during the tour. He also know all the best picture spots and got some great shots of us. I would recommend 100%!
Remco was a professional and fun host who is passionate about showing his guests a good time. The tour was excellent and i can highly recommend to anyone considering exploring the farming roots of amsterdam.
We loved our bike tour with Remco- Veesp is a picturesque Dutch village and Remco is an engaging and lively guide with lots of interesting and educational info. Despite it being a bit cold and damp, we visited windmills, a medieval castle and dairy farms. We rode along green fields filled with birds and learn about how the water is pumped from the fields and the history of the area. The riding is flat, the scenery is gorgeous, and the guide is fantastic! Plus, it’s an easy, 20-minute train ride from Amsterdam- great addition to our trip!
We had a fabulous time with Remco. He customized the route to meet our interests. The pace was perfect and the background information was so valuable. Highly Recommended!
Remco’s private bike tour was a once in a lifetime experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam! We had an amazing time exploring this beautiful region and could not have asked for a better guide. Through this tour we saw breathtaking sites, tried foods unique to the area, and had professional grade pictures taken of us! Overall, an amazing experience!
This tour was super fun and it was amazing to be able to explore the countryside and see the famous Dutch windmills up close! Thanks for an awesome tour Remco!
We had such a good time! We were in town for a bachelorette party and wanted to experience the biking culture but were nervous to bike in the city -- this was the perfect solution :) frankie and remco are amazing tour guides around the countryside! Not only did they show us the beautiful meadows and of course the windmills as promised, they also taught us about the history of the area and had surprise snacks for us. Remco also is a great photographer and knows all the picture perfect spots to capture our experience. Frankie went above and beyond the call of duty in every respect! From the minute we met until after the tour concluded he always made sure we were safe and was extremely patient with us. At each stop he answered all of our questions and pointed out things which he thought would particularly be of interest to us. Even after the tour was finished, he shared with us his favorite ice cream shop (so delicious!) and made sure we were able to get to our next destination before parting ways. It wouldn't have been the same without him!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon cycling through the Dutch countryside with Remco. The route is very peaceful (away from busy roads) and full of interesting things to see. If you fancy a day away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam - and to see/learn more about the ‘authentic’ Netherlands - then this trip is a must. Thanks again for a great day!
One of our very friendly, private, knowledgeable bike tours we have taken so far. Many impressive points and especially a very fresh cup of milk. Remco is very professional tour guide and knows well in his industry.
Looking for a cycling tour in Holland that doesn’t feel like you are putting your life in danger?! This is it. My 18 year old son and I had the tour to ourselves and pedalled contentedly around the countryside, viewing windmills and castles and farms. Remco was a fantastic guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and funny. Glorious way to experience life outside the city. Thoroughly recommend.
My husband and I so enjoyed our wonderful day exploring the scenic countryside with a fabulous guide... Remco. We saw a working windmill, farms, picturesque little towns, history, local stories and many laughs along the way! Remco was a terrific guide ... we would so highly recommend doing this tour! A short train ride from Amsterdam... not to be missed! Thanks again Remco!
Have just spent a beautiful afternoon in the countryside enjoying escaping from the hustle and bustle of Central Amsterdam (after 4 days a much needed break)! Remco was an informative guide who was enjoyed a laugh! The serenity of the surrounds was glorious! Arrived back to a local pub called Heksenketel (a must visit) for a magnificent wine and nibbles Would highly recommend getting out of Amsterdam to experience Weesp and the fresh country air with a sample of fresh milk and cheese Thanks Remco Fiona and Lisa Australia
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely time of biking through the countryside from the scenic village of Weesp with our guide Remco who was passionately keen on showing us the sites of his home. If you’re looking for a hard, long bike ride then this not for you but if like us, want to have a leisurely ride and learn about the area on safe bike paths, then this is ideal. The town of Weesp is an easy, short train from with Amsterdam Central or Amsterdam South. Highly recommended.
We had an amazing time riding around Weesp and the neighboring towns with Remco! He could not have been a better or more accommodating tour guide. We got to explore so much beautiful countryside, try amazing milk and cheese at dairy farms, see beautiful windmills (and even go in one!), and a castle. Remco was extremely knowledgeable and provided great commentary throughout the tour. He was also a great photographer and made sure we got great shots at every opportunity! I cannot recommend this tour and Remco enough! It was truly a highlight of our trip and something we will be talking about for a long time!
If you are up for something off the beaten path and wanting to see more to Holland then take this tour. We had a blast. Easy to get to the staring point via a 10 minute train. Anybody can do this tour. Remco led us through this leisurely ride (about 3 hours) in the countryside all the while teaching us about the history of Amsterdam and the local area. This tour was authentic, friendly, fun and full of laughs. Thanks again Remco
Had a great time! Terrain was easy for all bikers. Great scenery, educational, beautiful scenery! Would recommend if you're wanting to see places outside the city
