Amsterdam Food And Cultural Tour With 10 Tastings

Highly recommend this tour, but be sure to come hungry because you start tastings shortly after the start of the tour. I was skeptical about trying the pickled herring, but it was actually good. I envisioned a sardine/fishy taste but it wasn’t fishy at all. Out of the 10 tastings, I liked the grilled cheese sandwich the best, and it was half a sandwich! Wonderful tour and our guide, Roman, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area.

One of our favorite tours. Great blend of history and food. We did this our first day and it definitely provided us enough overview to then adventure out on our own. It’s a really great tour.

Barni was a congenial, knowledgeable guide who made everyone feel welcome . We enjoyed the sightseeing. Compared to other food tours we have taken, such as a recent one in Budapest, this tour offered less food and no drink except for a bottle of water provided by our guide. Some of the tastings were very small(the cheese bits), many were very sweet. It would have been nice to have more opportunity to sit down to enjoy additional savoury samples and a glass of beer or wine, as we previously experienced.

Roman was an outstanding tour guide. He led the best tour I have ever attended. He was very knowledgeable, very entertaining and had a thorough understanding of the city, the history of the city, and the various food establishments. He also provided very generous portions of the foods we tasted. This food and cultural tour was a 10 out of 10! We will recommend it to others who are visiting Amsterdam.

While we enjoyed sampling the food in Amsterdam, our guide, Barney, was young and energetic, but seemed to be working from a memorized script. In response to most questions, he said "I'll come to that" because he didn't want to get sidetracked. Barney also seemed to forget that the four of us in our mid-70s needed an occasional rest stop, especially since we stood outside while sampling foods for most of the three hours. Finally, we thought there were too many sweets and not enough savory foods on the tour.

Romain was excellent! He was magic. Made everyone feel included and kept it very interesting!

Fabulous experience with lots of information ( Roman our guide was fantastic), a variety of tastings, lots of laughs…. a great afternoon in Amsterdam.

Barni was a great tour guide! He took the time to get to know each of us and was very enthusiastic. While we visited several establishments, we were never rushed. The food samples were well sized to appreciate everything without being overly filling. Barni shared plenty of information about Amsterdam culture, history and architecture, providing interesting connections to the food.

This was an incredible and fun and yummy tour! Barni was a fantastic guide: he shared tons of information with enthusiasm and knowledge, and we had a blast. The food choice are really varied and delicious and are located all around the city. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I don’t think really young kids would love it but teenagers and up definitely are great. Plus you will be full after the tour for sure!

Absolutely incredible!! So much more than food. Barni delivered fascinating information in a captivating way and he was incredibly kind and patient with our group. The food selections are varied and YUMMY and you’ll learn a ton of cool stuff about Amsterdam. I cannot recommend this highly enough!

Barni was a passionate and phenomenal guide. We tried many varying foods, from fish to chocolate, and had great stories and histories shared. In addition, we were able to stop at other interesting, less known, tourist locations.

The first stop, a cheese shop, was a little disappointing. We were offered tiny (1/4") cubes of a variety of cheeses that were almost too small to give an idea what the cheeses actually tasted like, followed by 20 minutes or so to buy cheese. The other stops were all fine and our guide, Barnabas (Barney) was great. He learned everyone's names and provided a great deal of historical and other information about Amsterdam that was a complete bonus. The only thing I would say to people considering this tour is that it was a lot more outside than we expected rather than a comfortable restaurant experience but, given that, it was very worthwhile.

The food was mediocre at best. The guide was enthusiastic but please for Pete’s sake, tell us more about the DUTCH. I walked away from this experience less interested in Dutch history than I arrived.

This was my first time visiting Amsterdam, and I wanted to experience the city beyond the usual tourist attractions. This food and cultural tour was the perfect choice! It was such a fun way to explore the city, experience local flavours, and learn about Amsterdam’s rich history and culture. Our guide, Barney, was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable, engaging, friendly, and made the entire experience so enjoyable. The combination of delicious food, interesting stories, and exploring the city made this one of the highlights of my visit.

We just completed this tour around the quaint streets and canals of Amsterdam with our guide Roman. He was truly entertaining, informative and fun. We tried an assortment of Dutch delicacies and learnt some interesting history. We had a great afternnoon and would highly recommend this tour, Roman and this tour company.

What a delightful tour. Our guide, Leo, shared his personal experiences as a native Amsterdam citizen along with his extensive knowledge of history. He had a story for every food stop and many other points of interest along the route. We all gained an appreciation for the foods we ate as well as the city itself. My personal favorite were the fries at Heertje Friet — hot, crispy, salty, with a fluffy interior — perfection!
