We ended up having a private tour with Pierce. It was super relaxing and such a Wonderful way to experience the Dutch countryside. Pierce is an amazing font of knowledge. No question was a problem. And the half way cafe stop was idyllic.

Itinerary
This tour takes place in the Waterland region, north from Amsterdam. Hop on and ride your bike through this gorgeous area of the typical polder landscapes and farmlands below sea level.
Ride your bike through old fishermen villages and learn about water management and how the Dutch manage to live below sea level.
We are halfway through the tour when we arrive in Holysloot, a tiny farmer's village in the middle of the countryside. Time for a break at the love restaurant 'het Schoolhuis', in the former school of the village. The apple pie served here is world famous in the area and great fuel for the rest of our tour!
You will learn about the interesting history of the 80-years war between Holland and Spain and see the tower of Ransdorp, the oldest building in the area.
What would a countryside tour in Holland be without seeing a windmill? Indeed! At the end of our tour you will pass by this gorgeous windmill from 1792 and learn about the old mill industry of Holland.

I actually did both tours, Amsterdam city tour yesterday and countryside tour today. Both tours were excellent as were the guides Flip and Trey. They were very knowledgeable and considerate of their guests regularly making sure no one was lost or left behind and that everyone was comfortable. Overall I enjoyed the countryside tour more because of the wide open spaces with far less traffic compared to Amsterdam. Also we rode more on that tour (~ 20 miles) than on the Amsterdam one (~ 8 miles) which I liked. However, the city tour was a lot of fun as well. There are sufficient stops on both tours to get off the bike and walk or stand a little. Both included stops at a cafe at the halfway point for beverages and/or food. Highly recommend to be like the Dutch for part of a day and ride a bike!
An excellent day in the countryside; feels so rural but so close to Amsterdam. Enjoyable cycling, lovely sights on the route and a great stop at a cosy cafe. Thank you to our excellent guide, Trey
Great trip and guide - highly recommended for all folks!
A great tour ! Easy ride and wonderful and knowledgeable guide . I learned stuff 🤓 and had a wonderful scenic ride with amazing apple pie/cake.
Loved this bike tour! Sumi, our guide, was great. He was very informative, friendly, and we kept a good pace for the whole tour. The weather worked out beautifully for us so it made for an even better experience as the sights were also lovely. Overall, would highly recommend!
Willhem was knowledgeable and patient and helpful guiding us through the busy city and into the countryside. He made it an enjoyable experience!
We were recently visiting from Las Vegas and had a very fun and informative tour of the countryside north of Amsterdam with Willem. Stopped at Het Schoolhuis in Holysloot for a coffee and what turned out to be the best appeltaart we have ever had! Highly recommend the tour. Willem is a great guide.
Trey was our guide. He was great. The tour was amazing. Beautiful country.
Trey was a great guide! Bikes and logistics were well organized, as well as time planning. I think the tour could have been a bit more thorough in terms of sites and descriptions, but the stuff we did see were interesting and well explained by dear Trey.
Beautiful countryside tour, beginner friendly if you haven’t ridden a bike in decades such as myself! Saw cows, sheep, windmills, and ate the most delicious apple pie.
So nice! It was so cool! And I saw very beautiful things
Beautiful ride and outside of the city
Guide (Pearce) was great. But the other bikers really struggled with biking which meant we were very slow and had to stop often.
Fantastic bike tour. Love seeing the scenery and hearing about the dutch landscapes just outside of Amsterdam. You need to be able to ride a bike for a longer trip. We did 19 miles. Incredible Tour! Willem was great. Highly recommended!
This is the best tour! See something of Amsterdam that no one else sees unless you do this tour. Great biking with bridges, cows , sheep, old houses and apple tart. Plus you get on a boat with your bike. Willem is a fantastic guide. Highly recommended!!
Our tour gude Jesse was incredible. Knew so much and shared such interesting facts and details, was the hightlight of our trip. Not to mention the beaufitul country side bike ride. We had already done a canal tour and a walking tour and Jesse definitely gave us more interesting information than we had recieved already!
A fun-filled four hour (approx 18 mile) cycle into the Dutch countryside. Despite the torrential rain, it was a great ride with just the right amount of stops for information - knowledgeable guide provided historical insights to the local area. The midway stop for apple-pie/cake (not included) was great, definitely worth an extra 20mins each way. Would recommend!
This was the best way to start off our honeymoon! Our guide was kind, knowledgeable and funny. The ride itself was peaceful and scenic without being strenuous. Obviously some biking experience is required but we had fun and would recommend to others!
William was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and had a deep love for where he lives
We were so happy to find a bike tour that was family friendly and our expectations were exceeded! Trey was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great way to bike without being in city traffic and a great way to see the countryside. Would definitely recommend.
It was good to explore the outskirts of Amsterdam on a bicycle. We got to ride through some fields, some nice villages, and stop for apple pie. The tour guide, Lynn, was great!
After traveling overseas a good break riding about 20 miles in the country side N Amsterdam outside the hustle of the city.
We would highly reccomend this bike tour (we have done many). A great cycle ride with Ben who was a young historian. My husband was thrilled with the historic content and amazed with fantastic countryside to be found so close to Amsterdam. Some of our party were unusually quiet around our charming guide! Homemade apple pie on route in a family run inn. Family inn and apple pie all lovely. Also enjoyed the company of the always positive and energetic Aussies.
We had an incredible bike ride through the countryside. It was pouring with rain when we started but we were equipped with our ponchos and set off in the wet weather. The Amsterdam Countryside is breathtaking and the recommended apple pie is not too be missed. The sun came up, we dried up nicely and enjoyed riding through the different villages and learning about the history. We would fully recommend doing this and we hope to be back one day to do the city tour. The D's from Zimbabwe
Bike ride was great. Tour guide was very friendly. I’m sorry I cannot remember her name. We stopped in the countryside for apple pie (more like cake) Delicious!!! Ride is very easy - very little city riding. Would recommend.
Trey was very informative and full of fun facts . He knew a lot about the local History as well . I would definitely revolt his to friends and family .
Trey made the ride so much fun . He educated us with the local History and fun facts . I would definitely book again and recommend this to friends .
My wife and I really enjoyed our bike ride through the countryside north of Amsterdam Our guide, Trey, was patient — and funny. The apple pie was delicious and the Rembrandt connection was an unexpected pleasure.
Our trip was great from start to finish. All of the staff so friendly and helpful. Trey was an amazing guide! Amsterdam can be a bit daunting for a not-so-experienced cyclist, but he helped us safely make our way. We made new friends, even for just four hours! The views were beautiful … and the apple pie delicious!
Great fun with a great guide. Easy ride to suit all ages
Very fun experience. About 30km of easy cycling through the countryside with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Exactly how they described and would highly recommend if interested in seeing a bit of the countryside on your trip.
Astrid did a great job of leading our group onto a ferry and out of the city into the beautiful and peaceful countryside. She shared lots of information and answered all other questions with humour and enthusiasm with a good pace and number of stops. Loved the apple pie stop and lovely chats with fellow group members. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time on our private countryside half day tour. Our kid, age 6, loved riding in the cargo bike. We saw so much of the landscape and learned a lot from our guide. The ride was highlight of our trip to Amsterdam!
Beautiful landscapes and lovely tour guide. Full of knowledge and fun. Nice to get out of the city for another prospective of Amsterdam/dutch culture.
Amazing country-side biking tour. Gives you a unique perspective on the city, while allowing you to experience cycling like a local! Our guide Sander was really knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the city!
We had a great bike ride into the Waterlands of Amsterdam. We learned a lot about the land reclamation and some of the local villages and the apple pie deserves the recognition that it has. Learning the ropes of the local trail systems even enabled us to do some solo bike tours later in the trip elsewhere in the regions surrounding Amsterdam.
Great tour! Great service. Fun guide (Pierce) did a great job! Thank you.
We had a great tour of the countryside with our guide Jessie, he was very knowledgeable and friendly! Really happy we were able to book this tour quite last minute and they weren’t lying about the best apple pie ever 🙂 Was also nice to have a small group rather than a large tour!
Lovely day in the country, so nice to get out of the city. Nice and flat ride and quality bikes; the stop for apple pie was very nice and the pie amazing. The seats were not for the faint of heart if you have bike shorts
We are returning customers and we can't go to Amsterdam without booking this trip. This is our favorite tour in Amsterdam because of the scenery, the wildlife, and the tour guide Willy. We were fortunate enough to see a Godwit and a Harrier on our trip. We also love the world's best Appeltaart!
Longer journey than expected but tourguide Sem was great and knowledgeable. Would do another tour with this company again
A lovely tour. Very peaceful and pretty. Nice to get out of the city. Willem was a great guide with lots of knowledge and stories. Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic time on the countryside bike tour today! Our guide, Villiam, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience really enjoyable. I especially loved that we spent much more time actually riding compared to the city tour we did yesterday, allowing us to really soak up the beautiful countryside scenery. It was wonderful to experience Amsterdam from a completely different perspective and to learn more about the country’s fascinating waterways and how they shape everyday life. A relaxing, scenic ride with plenty of interesting insights, highly recommended!
We loved this bike ride through the countryside. It was nice change of pace from touring the city. Benjamin was a terrific guide - very friendly and knowledgeable about the area
A perfect family ride with kids 7-15! Ben was friendly, kind and perfectly tailored the ride to the abilities of all the kids. Registration and check-in were a breeze and Ben navigated us quickly out of the hustle and bustle of the city into the beautiful neighboring countryside and villages, providing history and explanation along the way. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend to any family visiting Amsterdam!
Great bike ride out into the countryside around Amsterdam. Jessie was an excellent guide. Finally don't miss out on the Apple pie, it is truly delicious 😋
Ben did a wonderful job showing us the Dutch countryside. It was both beautiful and informative. They made biking very enjoyable and a wonderful memory.
Shout out to Benjamin and We Bike Amsterdam! We had a great bike tour today. The Dutch countryside was so beautiful and peaceful - just a short ferry ride north of Amsterdam. We rode through idyllic villages, and along canals - saw windmills, cows and sheep and then stopped for a lovely coffee and dessert in a small village. Benjamin was so much fun to ride with. He was cheery and talkative and gave us some great background on the history of the area and the technology of water management. All the while he rides looking backwards most of the time to keep track of everyone in the group. We had a most unusual circumstance during our ride and Benjamin handled the situation beautifully. Bravo! It was a great ride. Thanks, We Bike Amsterdam and thank you, Benjamin!
This was a great tour- I liked that we didn’t go to too busy of tourist spots- we went to a local cafe for our half way break. We biked through picturesque farmlands and learned a lot of about the dams and terrain. Would definitely encourage friends to go. William was a great guide. Thank you!
