Zaan Hotel Amsterdam - Zaandam

I booked the Zaan Hotel for a three-night stay as a surprise treat for my wife, Pam, for her 40th birthday, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. We arrived around lunchtime, well before check-in, and were welcomed by the friendly reception staff. As our room wasn't quite ready, they kindly allowed us to store our luggage securely in the locked storage room next to reception. We then enjoyed a coffee in the hotel bar before catching the train into Amsterdam Centraal for the day. When we returned later that evening, the staff greeted us warmly, gave us our room key cards, helped us collect our luggage from storage, and directed us to our room. The room itself was spotless and very well equipped, with free Wi-Fi, a smart TV, a safe, a fridge, and a coffee machine complete with coffee pods, sugar, and everything we needed. The only minor downside was that the smart TV didn't have Netflix or similar streaming apps that we could sign into, and there weren't many English-language channels available. That certainly wouldn't stop us from staying here again, it would just have been nice to relax with something familiar after a full day of exploring. The hotel's location is fantastic. It's only around a 15-minute train journey to Amsterdam Centraal, and the train station is just a 3-4 minute walk from the hotel, making it incredibly convenient. Another bonus is the Albert Heijn supermarket directly opposite the hotel. Just inside the entrance on the left is a self-service coffee machine where you can get a really good latte (including the cup) for only €1.10, which was a great way to start the day. Overall, we had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend the Zaan Hotel to anyone looking for comfortable, modern accommodation just outside Amsterdam. Friendly staff, excellent facilities, spotless rooms, and a great location made this a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. We would definitely stay here again.

We had another wonderful stay at Zaan Hotel. The hotel is comfortable, quiet, and very clean, making it a perfect place to relax or even study. The rooms are cozy, the views are beautiful, and the service is always fast, friendly, and professional. The location is also very convenient. As returning guests, we would love to receive a small loyalty reward, such as a discount or a special welcome gesture. We are excited to visit again this August and hope for a little surprise from the amazing team. Thank you for always making us feel welcome!

If hygiene was an option, I would rate maximum 3. The room looks clean but it is very superficially cleaned. I could see hair everywhere. Towels dont even smell clean. Im not sure how this hotel is rated 4.3, it is indeed a below 4 rating hotel. It does the job for a short stay, I wouldn’t stay longer. The staff are friendly and helpful. Location is super convenient as its 2 min walk to the station.

The hotel itself was absolutely stunning — clean, modern, comfortable rooms and a great location. Staff were polite during the stay and the overall atmosphere was lovely. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by a serious payment issue. I had already prepaid for my stay through Booking.com, with my confirmation stating only a small additional amount was due at the property, yet my card was later charged a large extra payment by the hotel without a clear explanation. I’m currently trying to resolve this and hope it was simply an error, but it caused a lot of unnecessary stress after what should have been a great stay. A beautiful hotel, but the payment handling and communication need significant improvement.
