Not to be confused with Westin. Location was really good, breakfast was amazing! The rooms were interesting an interesting design. Very clean, comfortable beds. The rooms had what you needed and door was very secure. The downside was the hallway. Hallways had stains on the carpet, it looked grungy. A let down because of the cost and how it was marketed as a luxury hotel. European definition of luxury is not universal in all situations. Otherwise we had a good stay.

I am regular at Marriott but this is one of the worse ones. The rooms are tiny, the amenities are poor, and the entire layout of the hotel is just pure confusing (for a room clearly on the 5th floor, you get down on the 4th floor and then walk around the floor to get to a staircase that leads you to a floor, would be great to know this when you checkin). The checkin process is slow and it seems they want to upsell you everything in the room from the umbrella to alcohol. Definitely not worth the price you pay for it. Only advantage is the location but then most roads surrounding it are closed so taxis won’t get you in front of the hotel. Overall not worth the price or the brand.
We stayed for 1 evening - quick check in, great location. Walkable to Anne Frank House and great canals and restaurants. The room was large and spacious and great light. Unique set up with the shower and toilet as cubicles behind mirrored walls. The buffet breakfast was a highlight. Terrific roof top location with stunning sunshine and views. The manager ( sorry I didn't get his name) was an ABSOLUTE STAR! The whole team were. Mixing exotic juices for my daughter and made the morning magical. The options of al a carte, fresh delicious buffet, juice bar barista coffee and the Prosecco /Bellinis were a bonus too!
The W Amsterdam absolutely nailed hospitality. Before I even arrived, I was stuck during a very significant layover in Munich in the middle of the Great European Heatwave. At some point (after a couple of airport beverages), I apparently decided it was perfectly reasonable to drunk-text the concierge at the W, begging them to send a shuttle to the airport... and, if they were feeling especially accommodating, to stock said shuttle with ice-cold beer for the ride into Amsterdam. To their credit, they gently explained that they couldn't quite arrange my fantasy beer shuttle, but they did send me a comprehensive list of transfer options to get me to the hotel. Then came the surprise. When I checked in, Nikolaos had left me a handwritten note in my room along with a large, ice-cold beer from a local Amsterdam brewery sitting in an ice bucket waiting for me. Nikolaos, I can officially confirm that beer was indeed cold, incredibly enjoyable, and the perfect way to kick off an amazing stay in Amsterdam. Beyond rescuing my dignity after my late-night messages, the hotel itself is fantastic. The location couldn't be more central—you're within easy walking distance of just about everything worth seeing. The staff are genuinely warm, friendly, and seem to enjoy going above and beyond for their guests. Having access to all the hotel's amenities made it even easier to relax after long days exploring the city. If you're looking for a hotel with an outstanding location, exceptional service, and staff with a great sense of humor, the W Amsterdam is hard to beat. I'll skip the drunk concierge texts next time... but I certainly won't skip staying here.
Good location and good staff. Especially team at the restaurant is a very good one. However , the design of hotel is a total disappointment. No proper reception space if you need to wait , other than one sofa like budget hotels which try to get most from each square meter. Overall design may probably be called modernist , however it is like an industrial factory with no warm aesthetics. Even lifts are like lifts for loads in factories. Although material used is good , room internal design can only be a internal designer self satisfaction , not something properly functional . Putting sink in the open space format and no dedicated space other than closed toilet and opaque walled bathroom are not right choices for functional usage. Washing your hands at night means you will wake up your partner. Guests should not suffer to satisfy a designer’s desire. At least I will not fund these if I am not comfortable anymore. Therefore , good location and staff at W/Marriot level , however it does not give right value from comfort pow for the prices charged. Need also be careful for taxi scam out of the main gate. (Meanwhile they should award Rex at restaurant for his really kind interest for guests )
