I had a great stay at this hotel. It’s in a very central location, and the hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable, and very well maintained. The staff are all so welcoming, and a special thank you to Mariana, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and always quick to help with anything I needed. She really made my experience even better!
As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member, I booked this hotel directly through the Marriott app, expecting the level of service and recognition I have consistently experienced at other Marriott hotels. Although I found better rates through other online agents, I chose to book directly with Marriott because I value the Marriott Bonvoy program and expected the enhanced service and benefits that come with booking through the official channel. Upon check-in, the room was very similar to the one I originally booked, so I honestly did not feel that I had received an upgrade. The hotel manager was kind and cooperative in trying to accommodate my request, although none of the available options met my expectations. The biggest area that needs improvement is the housekeeping and overall service standards. On two separate occasions, my room was not cleaned, and I had to contact the reception to follow up. On one day, I called housekeeping around ten times before anyone answered, which was disappointing for a hotel of this category. I would like to emphasize that every member of the staff I interacted with was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and willing to help. The issue is not with the employees themselves, but with the overall service delivery and operational standards. While the team has a great attitude, the service level does not currently reflect what I would expect from a five-star hotel. On the positive side, the hotel’s location is excellent, and the café in the lobby is outstanding. They serve very good coffee and delicious pastries, making it a great place to relax. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but I believe the hotel has significant room for improvement in its service standards. With better operational consistency, it has the potential to provide an experience that truly matches its five-star rating.
Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel from check-in to check out was one of the best experiences I’ve had with a hotel in a long time. The recently remodeled Hotel property awaits you in the center of Amsterdam. The rooms are new and beautifully designed. The bedding is amazing and so is the temperature control. The most easy to use shower I’ve ever been in Europe with a button on and a button off. A special shout out to the hospitality agent named Fabio in the lounge. Such a warm and welcoming and happy entity. We love spending our early evenings with him and the rest of the staff and love the food selection and champagne that was available. The Fitness room is a bit difficult to find as it is off of floor two but must take a separate elevator to go to the basement where state-of-the-art equipment and cleanliness await you. Housekeeping is also very easy as you can press a button in your room for a green light to signal the staff to freshen up your room.
I understand this hotel has recently undergone a significant renovation. Starting in the hotel lobby, it's an impressive, interesting and lively space, and staff at the reception were professional and welcoming. The bar area is expansive and you can order food here too. I noticed during my stay that this area can nonetheless get very busy, when tour groups staying at the hotel congregate here when coming/going. The decor in the passage ways to the rooms is certainly not to my taste, and depending on your room, it can feel like a bit of a trek from the lift lobby. Refillable glass water bottles are provided in the rooms for use, but note that the water dispensers are located at the lift lobby, so again, might be a trek depending on your room location, and a bit of an annoyance if you've run out of water and you're already in your pajamas! Just drink the tap water instead?! The room was comfortable but a couple of annoying things I noticed was that the location of the electrical outlet in relation to the desk meant that some plugs fouled on the desk, and I had to use other outlets in the room; and the electrically-operated window blind can only be used when the room lighting is set to the "maximum" setting. The new room decor again isn't to my personal taste, but I can see where they were going with it. The bathroom on the other hand was attractive, adequately appointed and everything worked well. The room was provided with a hairdryer, clothes steamer, kettle (with instant coffee sachets), minibar (not stocked), safe and a big tv. The hotel is conveniently located, just a few minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal station which has regular links to Schipol Airport, and there are many attractions (canals, landmarks, red light district) within easy walking distance.
