Jerash, Ajloun, Umm Qais Day Trip

It was an amazing day, lots of walking and steps but so much to see. The history of the sites was unbelievable. Bardaghawi was the best driver, he's a companion as well to provide info and made sure I was comfortable. It's possible to hire a guide at each place - about 50 dinar total in cash. There was plenty of bottled water in the car and Bardaghawi made sure to stop for breakfast and then we had a late lunch in Jerash before returning to Amman. Great day, great driver.

The tour is fantastic and thanks to my driver Bardaghawi. He is professional and be good at communication, introduce many background information of the tour, the local food and the view point on the way.

I had an amazing time visiting Jerash, Ajloun and Umm Qais. My driver Ali was amazing. He communicated the day before , the expected time line and picked me up on time. He is very friendly and I felt safe as a female solo traveler. He checked on me if I was ok when Im the last one to came out of Jerash 😂. I learned so much about this tour too. This tour is a MUST. There is so much to see in Jordan not just Petra. And the locals that I met are friendly 😊

Right at the start of the tour, I began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. This could have ruined the day since I was feeling unwell, but the driver, Nedal, was super helpful, patient, and flexible in adapting the itinerary and timing according to my limits. ​Nedal is clearly passionate about his country and enjoys sharing its cuisine, landscapes, and stories. ​I felt very safe, welcomed, and satisfied with the tour, and I was able to visit and enjoy all three locations, which are impressive.

The day excursion we booked to visit Umm Qays, Ajloun Castle and Jerash was brilliant from start to finish. We were picked right on time, and all of the driving between locations was smooth and timely. Ali was a superb driver who supplied local knowledge for each of the locations as well as general knowledge in relation to the country. He was engaging with conversation and we loved how opinionated he was on the topics we were discussing. A very intelligent man with passion for the country he is from and couldn’t recommend him more. Umm Qays was a surprise as the site was far larger than expected, full of amazing artefacts and history for the area. Ajloun Castle was a short stop in comparison but no less interesting. Jerash, however, was the cherry on top the end of our visit. A vast site with seemingly endless examples of Greco-Roman architecture and history. An incredible place now, so imagining what it was like when it was built is awe-inspiring.

Ali our driver was very knowledgeable and communicative. He was very punctual and had our safety and interests at heart. Was good to be at Jerash by 8am. You beat the heat and crowds. Would recommend if you do this trip take a lunch box from the hotel as there’s a lot of driving and traffic around Amman . We were gone from 7am til nearly 4pm without stopping for lunch.

I really loved Mr. Adnan, my driver for the day. He made me feel like home. I was alone and he made sure I was safe and made me feel comfortable. The journey was nice and pleasant. I recommend him for all other travellers, coming to visit Jordan.

In may 2026, we participated in the "Jerash, Aljoun, Umm Qais" tour arranged by the tour operator, R&H VIP Transportation Services. Our driver selected to take us on the tour was Mr. Shadi Almanasir. Shadi made our tour a wonderfully, memorable experience. Each of the stopovers were very interesting. At Umm Qais we hired a guide at the site. We viewed the two other sites, the Castle of Adjoin and Jerash, on our own. We had seen Ephesus in Turkey which we greatly enjoyed but I thought Jerash was much larger, better-preserved, and very impressive to see. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Jordan. Regarding the tour operator, we had enquired whether they’d permit our driver to drop us off at a different location from our pickup. They happily agreed and thus, we were picked up in Amman but was dropped off in Petra. Thereafter, I requested the company’s driving services for 2 more days. We were lucky to have Shadi as our driver during those days. The first day, Shadi drove us from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea with stoppages at Kerak Castle and the Pink Lake. The following day, Shadi drove us from the Dead Sea to Amman, with stoppages at Mount Nebo and St. George's Church in Madaba that houses the Madaba Map. We also stopped at the Cave of the Seven Sleepers that was along our route to Amman. In Amman, Shadi drove us to see the Citadel and the Roman Amphitheater before dropping is off at our hotel. Shadi is extremely professional and was very timely in working out the logistics of our various trips. He is a friendly and enjoyable driver who is very knowledgeable, providing us in-depth information about the various stoppages and sights throughout our trip. This tour, the tour operator, and our driver are all highly recommended by me and my family.

Very well planned and wholesome day trip with a fun, friendly and fashionable guide driver. The 3 places were amazing with really good guides (separately available at entrance) to enhance the experience. The whole ride was very safe and smooth with no security concerns. Just have your jordan pass with you (taken separately) and be wary of scamsters and you will be set :)

We chose this tour, "Jerash, Aljoun, Umm Qais Day Trip," with the tour operator, R&H VIP Transportation Services, via Viator. The driver selected to take us on the tour was Mr. Shadi Almanasir. We hired a seperate guide at Umm Qais, and the other two locations, Castle of Aljoun and Jerash, we viewed on our own. A very full and enjoyable day. We had, before our trip to Jordan, contacted the R&H VIP Transportation to enquire whether they can drop us off in Petra instead of our pickup city of Amman. The company agreed, so with a little extra payment for the extra trip, we were dropped off in Petra. Thereafter, I had arranged with the company to give us the same driver two days later to take us from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea with stoppages at Kerak Castle, the Pink Lake, and the shrines of Zaid ibn Haritha and Jafar ibn Abi Talib. We had sufficient time to see each stops very well and was still able arrive at our the Hilton Dead Sea resort before 5pm. The following day, we again requested Shadi take us from the Dead Sea resort to Amman, with stoppages at Mount Nebo, Madaba's Greek Orthodox Basilica of St George with the mosaic map of Holy Land, and the Cave of the 7 Sleepers. At Amman, we had time before our drop-off at our Amman hotel so he took us to the Citadel and Roman Amphitheater. All the transportation services were perfectly and comfortably executed. The company, and specifically Shadi Almanasir made all our tour experiences wonderful. Shadi is a friendly and enjoyable companion who is very knowledgeable, providing us in depth information about the various stoppages and sights throughout our trip. This tour operator and our driver are both highly recommended by me and my family.

Our tour guide, Khaled Alnajjar, was exceptional — knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history of each site. He brought the ruins and landmarks to life with rich historical context and fascinating stories that made the experience truly memorable.

We had an amazing experience with our guide Anees. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely pleasant to talk to throughout the whole tour. From the beginning, he made us feel like family rather than just tourists, which made the experience very comfortable and enjoyable. He showed us hidden spots and local places that we would never have discovered on our own, making the tour feel authentic and special. He also gave us very useful advice on how to avoid tourist scams and overpriced places, which we really appreciated. One of the best things about the tour was his conversation — you never get bored talking to him. He is engaging, funny, and full of interesting information and stories. And honestly, his name is Anees and he truly is “Anees” — warm, friendly, and great company to be around. Anees truly made the whole experience memorable. Highly recommended!

My day trip to Umm Qais was truly peaceful, beautiful, blanketed in flowers, calming, biblical views. Jerash also historical was stunning. I was happy to experience such nature, beauty and history. A visit to the mosaic city of Madaba was also impressive, historic with very talented mosaic artists. My wonderful experience to Umm Qais, Jerash and Madaba would not have been possible without the assistance of my experienced, safe, English speaking, knowledgeable, honest, kind and considerate driver Ibrahim Khateeb. Mr Khateeb has excellent safe driving skills, was polite, punctual, a gentleman, patient, with a strong knowledge of Jordan. Mr Khateeb gave me very useful information about many places in Jordan for which I am grateful. I fully recommend this experience, peaceful Jordan and Ibrahim as the best driver in the Kingdom of Jordan. I felt like the Queen of Jordan. You and your family are safe with Ibrahim Khateeb.

We suggested a start time of 9am but driver recommended 7.30am which we agreed. Good job we did as we didn't get back until 5pm (because we were able to spend as long as we liked at each site). We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Umm Qais and Ajloun Castle were good but are over-shadowed by Jerash so if you're not sure whether this tour is for you, just visit Jerash - it's awesome!

We set off at 8:00 a.m. from our hotel in Amman. Our driver, Danny, was very easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. He even suggested the departure time and the order of sightseeing, which made the planning effortless. We started with the furthest destination, Umm Qais. After about two hours of driving, we arrived early in the morning, which turned out to be a great decision, there were no crowds at all, and we were practically alone while exploring the site. It made the experience peaceful and very enjoyable. Our next stop was Ajloun Castle (Saladin’s Castle). We reached it after approximately one hour on the road. The castle was impressive and definitely worth visiting. The final stop of the day was Jerash. We arrived there around 1:30 p.m. This site was noticeably more popular than the previous ones, but there was still plenty of space to explore comfortably without feeling crowded. After a relaxed walk and sightseeing, we headed back to our hotel in Amman. Throughout the entire trip, Danny waited for us at the parking areas and remained available at all times. Communication was smooth and easy. At every attraction, he made it clear that we could spend as much time as we wanted — he never rushed us and was very patient. Overall, it was a well-organized and stress-free day, and we truly appreciated the flexibility and professionalism.

My wife and I had a great time today. Our driver/guide, Bassam Almashni, was the best. Professional, courteous, and a great driver. He took us to all the great places in Amman. We even had a fabulous lunch in a nice restaurant. We highly recommend him.

Good operator Adnan, he gave us the necessary time to visit the places. The itinerary is fulfilled. They offered us fresh water and transportation was comfortable. It is necessary that you hire a guide on your part, if you wish.

The booking was easy and Adnan was in contact, picked us up in time and let us carry our luggage in the van which was convenient because we have checked out and had a flight after. My family was the only people in the trip. We asked for a change of itinerary and he got in contact with the agency who agreed to it for an extra fee. The length of visit in every site was enough and calm. Adnan is a good driver, he answered our questions, gave us more context of the country and recommended a restaurant to have lunch at the end of the tour.

Had a great experience around all places and driver Shadi was great. Would really recommend.

very good and nice driver Adnan, who took care of everything. I was sick anf feeling unwell but wirh his help I managed to get the most of the tour. The northern area of Jordan is very different from other parts, very green, with lots of flowers and olive trees. And yes, all the sites are nice to visit. I recommend the company and especially the nice driver Adnan.

Our experience was unforgettable our guide Khalid Nijjar drove us to 3 of the most beautiful places in Jordan. Khalid was an interesting and knowledgeable guide.

My driver Ibrahim made the entire journey seamless and made great recommendations of places to stop in between the main spots. The guide I hired at the first site (common since most tour operators are really private drivers and don’t provide local guides) came with us and they worked together to take me to places I was interested in. I really enjoyed the fact that Ibrahim restocked water each time we stopped and had WiFi available in his car. Recommended starting at Umm Qais and making your way back to Amman. We did this route and it was really nice to come back to my hotel in 30 min vs 90 min.

As the title says, we truly appreciate our third (!!!) tour with our amazing driver Ibrahim - he has attended us on our trips to petra/wadi rum , madaba/mount nebo/dead sea AND today to our tour in Umm Qays/Ajlun castle and Jerash. We couldn't be happier with him as our driver since he made sure to tell us the most imprtant information of each of these destinations and always gave us some tipps for our time out there! I will make sure to book him again next time I visit and I advise you to do the same. I truly don't have enough space to tell you about our amazing time today but to summarize it, please don't miss out and book this tour!

My experience with Khalid Najjar was amazing. The tour felt more like a friend showing me the country rather than a paid driver. He was so full of knowledge of the areas and culture and really added to the depth of the tour. You don’t need to hire private guides at the sites, as Khalids knowledge is very extensive on all the sites. Additionally he always made sure to ask if I wanted to stop for pictures and I never felt rushed or that the tour was time limited. Overall I had no negatives and I highly recommend Khalid Najjar as the best tour driver.

Not even the rain could stop us from exploring the ancient cities of Jordan!! Everything was great and our driver Ibrahim was extremely helpful and so knowledgeable

This was a great day trip to see a few historical sites from Amman. Our driver was friendly and helpful! It’s best to start early because it is a lot of driving. It takes about two hours to get to Umm Qais, then over an hour to get to Ajloun, then 45 minutes to Jerash, then maybe an hour and a half back to Amman. However, I enjoyed driving through the valley and seeing all the smaller towns. Also note that this does not include any guides, they are readily available inside all sites but that will be an extra charge. I thought the price was a little expensive for not including guides, but it was nice to have private transportation. If you want to maximize time at Jerash (you should!) I would suggest the option that skips the Ajloun castle. Overall a good trip, though!

The tour gives an amazing insight into the history of our humanity. Along the way, you will also be able to see and explore some of Jordan’s northern landscapes off from its more touristic sites in the south. With Ibrahim I had a very pleasant drive who would give good care of you. He is knowledgable about everything you ask him and tells you interesting facts of what you see along the way. Definitely recommend if you want to explore the north of Jordan!

This was a great day trip from Amman! Ibrahim was a great driver, very friendly and helped keep us on track so we could maximize our day. If I were to skip one of the stops it would be Ajloun castle, that was the shortest stop and the other two sights were more interesting. It’s a lot of time in the car but totally worth it to see all the layers of history outside of Amman!

Mohammad was a fantastic driver, very punctual, professional, and took us to all 3 sites with plenty of time to view all of them. Would recommend him for any additional tours you want to do in Jordan as well. As for the sights, Jerash is a MUST see in Jordan and would recommend spending more of your time here (3-4 hours) and a little less at Umm Qais which is still worth seeing for the view of the Golan Heights/Sea of Galilee but much of the ruins aren’t well restored. Aljoun is lovely and worth spending about an hour at.

We had an excellent day trip to Jerash, Ajloun, and Umm Qais with Mohammad. His itinerary was very well thought out. We started from the farthest point, Umm Qais, then continuing to Ajloun and Jerash before returning to Amman. Thanks to his planning, we arrived at Jerash right at golden hour, which made the experience even more special.

Bader was an absolutely fantastic guide for our trip to Umm Qais and Jerash. He was communicative, incredibly helpful, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. He went the extra mile to make sure we all (especially our 5-year old daughter) had a great experience. Even in the rain, Umm Qais and Jerash were still both amazing.

Sam was our driver for the day, and he was absolutely wonderful. Warm, friendly, and full of energy, he made sure we felt safe and comfortable throughout our journey to Jerash and Umm Qais. He spoke very good English and shared fascinating insights into the history of the places we visited. He even took us to a few scenic spots with stunning views that were perfect for photos (see picture!). Sam also brought us to a local restaurant near Jerash, where we enjoyed some truly delicious Jordanian food. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to show us around.
