Itinerary
Step into the creative world of Japanese pottery with a hands-on Kurinuki workshop in the heart of Amman. Guided by an experienced ceramic artist, you’ll learn the traditional Japanese technique of carving clay to shape a unique vessel. What you’ll do: Begin with an introduction to Kurinuki and the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy, which celebrates imperfection and natural beauty. Choose your clay block and carve it into a cup, bowl, or small vessel using simple hand tools. Explore textures, patterns, and forms that reflect your personal style. Enjoy a welcoming artistic atmosphere with snacks and drinks included. Your piece is then dried, glazed and fired in our fast kilns and is ready to collect in just 1 to 2 days, while most pottery studios need a week or more: a one-of-a-kind ceramic piece that carries the story of your hands. This workshop is perfect for beginners, travelers seeking a cultural experience, or anyone who wants to discover the calming and creative process of Japanese pottery.

Amazing experience it was my first time doing pottery! 10/10 recommend this place !
Arwa' is the best, most welcoming guy!
amazing, best art center ever
Two days on a row we did a workshop Glasspainting at Gilgamesh Art Café. The first we enjoyed it so.much, that we came back the next day. We spent e good time on working with glass and paint to.make different beautiful pieces that become even more gorgeous when the sunlight shines through. The teachers supported us with our projects and the atmosphere was relaxing and chilling. And...the Iraqi tea was delicious.
I had such a wonderful Japanese pottery experience with my friends! Honestly, it was one of those experiences where you completely forget about the outside world and just relax and enjoy the moment. What I really appreciated was how they explained every single detail of the process, from the techniques and materials to the history and traditions behind Japanese pottery. You can truly feel the passion and culture behind the craft. It was peaceful, informative, and genuinely enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for something unique, relaxing, and culturally enriching. A beautiful experience from start to finish!

I had a wonderful time today at Gilgamesh Art Café. The staff were amazing, very helpful, welcoming, and friendly, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The café features a beautiful gallery filled with inspiring artwork that creates a unique and creative atmosphere. I also had the chance to try Japanese pottery, which was such a fun and relaxing experience. It was my first time exploring this kind of art, and I really enjoyed learning the process and shaping the clay. It felt both calming and creatively fulfilling. The shisha was great, and the overall atmosphere was cozy, heartwarming, and incredibly relaxing. It’s definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had in Amman. I’m already looking forward to my future visits. This place is officially one of my favorite spots!
Such a lovely visit - highly recommend to anyone ready to engage their creativity! The artists are so kind and ready to work with visitors at any level of experience with pottery. My friend and I enjoyed the clay, the ambience, the cats, and our host most of all!

Cozy fun place to get creative. We had a great time making Japanese ceramics through the art of Wabi Sabi and sipping on homemade mulled wine. Highly recommend
Homely and welcoming environment. As if we have been friends for decades. Loving and deeply rich with culture. Helpful, fun, community environment.
Gilgamesh art cafe is one of the fewest places that teaches you how to make different types of unique art that you won’t find anywhere else in Jordan- the place is cozy and nostalgic and the owners are super nice and helpful . I came to learn how to make geometric patterns in stained glass and it was an awesome experience -I’ve learned a lot in the few hours that I spent there !! Laith and Arwaa did a great job of teaching me so . Would absolutely recommend 🤍🤍
One of the nicest coziest experiences I had-nice vibes and great owners- I came to learn how to make stained glass and it was an awesome experience since this place is the only place that teaches in Jordan! Leith and Arwa’a did a great job of teaching me . Would absolutely recommend 🤍
It was a wonderful experience .... Anti stress. ... Very friendly atmosphere ... It was nice to work with Laith .. he was very welcoming and nice... Will go again absolutely to live anther experience ..... I heard about Arwa'a the owner and waiting to see him in person..
This was such a brilliant experience. I had the most wonderful conversations and was made to feel part of the family while completing my pottery jar. Undoubtedly the best thing I did in Amman - would highly recommend it.
Wonderful! The staff was attentive and lovely. So fun to learn about pottery. Great experience to do with friends or on a date.

The place is very cozy and friendly, don’t be shy just come in and be warm welcomed. We have enjoyed our time here with my sister 💕
Exquisite experience. Enjoyed every moment of pottery making. All tools were available, friendly and artistic atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We came and did the Japanese pottery workshop, they explained the WaviSabi concept amazingly. The atmosphere is amazing, the snacks and tea are super delicious. They also have an alcohol menu. It is a must place ro visit in Amman.
Sending experience Laith was very knowledgeable about every related to the pottery we were creating. The atmosphere was great and the kittens would a nice plus. And the hospitality was spectacular.
I went for a pottery workshop, and loved the experience! Participants had the opportunity to create a beautiful piece of a tea bowl in Japanese style with the professional lead of an experienced potter. The hosts made the place cozy and welcoming with their hospitality, and invited a friend who played meditative guitar music in the background, which created a magical atmosphere for artsy creation. Irrespective if you do arts, crafts or not at all, you will find yourself happily immersing in this experience. All materials, tools and guidance provided. Everyone left with the happiness and satisfaction of creating something unique and beautiful. Very welcoming community place, where you might also find new friends 🫶🏼 If you are in Amman, don’t miss out on this unique and lovely experience!
Had the best experience doing kurinuki Japanese pottery Experienced the wabi sabi style in making a very unique cup The place is cozy unique and artistic And they have the best Iraqi tea and a cute cat named yasmina
My friend and I had a good time experimenting with Japanese pottery at Gilgamesh! Totally recommended if you're up to trying something new.
Honestly one of the most fun experiences I’ve had! I went to a “kurninuki” workshop and had so much fun learning. They make sure that you understand the process entirely and that you are involved in every step. The people themselves create such a fun, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely come back!
Working with Kurinuki at Gilgamesh Studio was more than just learning a technique—it felt like meditation. The slow, deliberate carving, the weight of the clay in my hands, and the quiet focus it required all brought a deep sense of calm. Each cut was a dialogue with the material, shaping not just the form but also my thoughts. The instructor created a space where the process mattered more than perfection, allowing creativity to flow naturally. The studio itself has a special atmosphere—warm, inspiring, and deeply grounding. It was an experience of presence, patience, and quiet joy. I’ll definitely return.
It was such a cozy place and such kind people who work there. We were greeted with such a lovely welcome and the place was easy to find. Hope more come here We came here from Sweden
