A Full Day Trip To Petra From Amman

I had an amazing trip from Amman to Petra and Wadi Rum, and our driver, mr Basim Ibrahim, was a huge part of what made the experience so memorable. He was professional, punctual, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about Jordan’s history, culture, and landmarks. The journey was comfortable and stress-free, with a clean vehicle and safe driving throughout. He was always happy to answer questions, share interesting local insights, and make helpful stops along the way. His recommendations for food, viewpoints, and activities greatly enhanced our trip. Petra and Wadi Rum are breathtaking destinations, and having such a reliable and attentive driver/guide made the experience even better. Had a wonderful drive to Petra with Shadi. He gave us complimentary water and stopped for breaks along the way. He gave us good tips for exploring Petra as we were going alone and it was a peaceful 3 hour drive. It was not too crowded once we got there and we purchased entrance tickets in advance online. One tip is that it was quite windy walking through Petra, so make sure you have a good jacket.

Shadi Almanasir was excellent, taking us to Petra from Amman. He described really well sights along the journey, was always helpful.

Shadi, my tour guide and driver treated me like his real brother and kept me informed about everything and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole time and he even went out of his way many times to make sure I had a great time. Although I had only booked Petra at first, after Shadi and Muhammad (my Petra guide) told me that they could arrange my transfer to Wadi Rum and back I booked it with them and Shadi as always did a fab job. I will end the review now because words are not enough to convey my gratitude to Shadi especially, Muhammad and the team behind them. Please book your tours with them when in Jordan. Bader was our driver today and has given us the best experience to Petra. He was punctual, the car was immaculate and there was cold bottled water ready in the car for us. Bader has heaps of knowledge of Jordan and can answer any questions you may have of this beautiful country. His English was excellent and went above and beyond for us. It was a perfect day. Great driver and fantastic conversation. Comfortable car. Perfect weather. Petra wasn’t crowded. My driver told me exactly what to do and more importantly what not to do. He also gave me a very accurate estimate of how long everything would take. I had ample time to explore and go at my pace. By instinct, he knew that I was quite obsessive about timing and exact locations and he made me feel very secure. Wonderful lunch after and a relaxing ride back to Ammon. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Our Petra tour guide Sam was honestly amazing! He went above and beyond the whole day — super friendly, funny, and really knew his stuff. He even took us to a great local spot for lunch and a nice café after the tour, which wasn’t even part of the plan. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving people the best experience. Easily one of the best guides I’ve ever had — if you’re visiting Petra, ask for him!

We had the absolute most amazing time with Sam! He was a friend over a tour guide. He was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. He picked us up and dropped us directly from our accom. He laughed with us, took us to a beautiful restaurant for an authentic Jordanian lunch after we saw the beautiful Petra and then also a cafe and dessert shop local to our hotel on the way home so we could stop in and grab some goodies! I couldn’t recommend him enough! I also attached a pic I was able to have taken for me at Petra for reference to the quality!

I booked this tour from Amman to Petra through TripAdvisor and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the experience. From the very beginning, everything was handled with great professionalism and care. Our driver, Mahmoud Awad arrived at our hotel right on time and greeted us with a warm, friendly smile. He immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. Throughout the entire journey, which lasted about three hours, Mahmoud Awad was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The car was a brand new, fully electric vehicle – very clean, quiet, and comfortable, equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, which was a great bonus during the ride. My driver (Adnan Hamdan) picked me up right infront of my place. He had messaged me the day before to confirm all was well on my end for our meeting time. The drive going and coming to Petra was super smooth and I was the ONLY passenger that day so I got all the extra information about Petra and Jordan from him! He explained all the steps necessary to enjoy Petra in the best way! I was dropped off around 10:15 am and had 4 hours to explore before meeting back up again. He was right on time picking me up and made a stop so I could use the restroom and get a coffee. Highly recommend this driver and outing!

Our driver was fantastic. He was waiting for us when we came out of our hotel. We stopped for a restroom break halfway during the trip to Petra. He was an excellent and safe driver. We even had 3 random police stops, which he easily handled. After we parked, he escorted us to the ticket office where we planned our path in Petra and a pickup point when we returned. We texted him on our way back and he was ready for us at the pick up point. After a long day walking in the sun, it was nice to have a smooth ride back to the hotel. While we could have driven ourselves, it was certainly worth it not having to navigate the many turns once we got to Petra, find a place to park, and especially deal with potential random stops by the police. It was a good value and we would be happy to use again.

I went to Petra starting from Amman, there are no words to describe the beauty of this site, our driver was Waleed Hassan, punctual, very polite and friendly, very clean car, speaks perfect English, excellent service, he made this a wonderful experience, trust him!

Long day but well worth seeing the Petra Cliffs, an ancient wonder. (UNESCO World Heritage site). Driver picked me up promptly and we drove to Petra, with a rest stop on the way. About 4 hours allotted to walk in the sure.

A transfer to Petra was very comfortable and quick. It's a car with a driver for two of us, three hours one way with a short stop for a coffee, and four hours at Petra. Our driver Mohammad was very polite, came to our place in time, and drove carefully. The car was new and clean. The transfer is worth its money. The only thing I would change is the time spent in Petra. For us it turned out that 4 hours was not enough to see everything we planned, it would have been great to have 5-6 hours there. However, it depends on the group and how long you can spend in Petra.

Everything was great, very professional, respectful, great communication. Adnan was great company, on time, and ensured I had a good time during my trip from Amman to Petra and even picked me up at 4AM to get to Petra early. Definitely recommend Adnan.

Awesome private tour to Petra with Bardaghawi. Bardaghawi is a well experienced driver and he is always customer-focused. Besides he is very knowledgeable about the destination, history and culture. Petra is magnificent. It’s a mystery how the people built this city among the mountains over 2000 years ago. The weather was also perfect, so I was able to take many nice pictures.

It was a long planned and everything was perfect. Ahmed was in perfect time for pick up and everything was fine, we spent 6 hours in the same car and i can say hes a really good driver, friendly and open minded. The car was modern and i feel very safe. Thanks a lot to Ahmed this was a wonderful trip

We were assigned Anas as our driver/guide to Petra. His knowledge and love of Jordan helped make the hours in the car and the sites we stopped at so much more meaningful. He welcomed all of our questions about Jordan, being a Muslim, and the sites that we were seeing. He took us to a locals restaurant and recommended traditional Jordanian food which was absolutely delicious. He also recommended an excellent private guide to take us through Petra but would have been fine had we chosen not to hire a guide through him. He helped us exchange USD for JD so that we would get better prices. Our trip from Amman to Petra and back was very memorable due to our time with Anas.

Totally amazing day! Will remember for the rest of our lives. !! Mohammed was our driver and was fabulous. Would do anything for us if asked. He recommended a guide at Petra to us which you should absolutely do and the guide Mahmoud was excellent. We actually took the golf cart which I would highly recommend if you are short on time like we are. I feel like we saw in 4 hours what others see in 9 hours. It’s winter now and tourism is way down in Jordan so no lines, no cruise ships , and for the adventurous tourist it’s the time to take advantage of this opportunity. You may never get it again so go now!!!

I had an amazing experience traveling from Amman to Petra with Muhammad as my driver. He was not only professional and courteous but also incredibly hospitable, making the journey so much more enjoyable. Muhammad knew the route and landmarks inside and out, taking me to some hidden scenic spots where he helped capture some unforgettable photos. On top of that, he gave me invaluable tips for exploring Petra, which enhanced my visit. If he were from Petra, I’m sure he could also work as a tour guide.
