Piazza Tasso is a central place and square in Sorrento in the south of Italy. The square is named after the poet Torquato Tasso. On the square stands a statue of S. Antonino Abbate, the saint patron of the city.
Vallone dei Mulini (known in English as Valley of the Mills) is a historic valley in Sorrento, Italy. The flour mills, built from stone as far back as the 13th century. Its name derived from its beginning function: to grind grain. The valley originates from the release of waters into a tufa plain about 37,000 years ago, following the eruption of the Campi Flegrei. It was in operation until the beginning of the tenth century. In 1866, Piazza Tasso was established, and it caused the mill and the surrounding sea to be isolated. The building was closed and abandoned in the 1940s.
Walk along the main street, Corso Italia.
You will visit the Cathedral of Sorrento (Santi Filippo e Giacomo), a hidden gem located just off the bustling Corso Italia. Originally built in the 11th century and reconstructed in the 15th century, the Cathedral is a fascinating blend of architectural styles. While its exterior features a beautiful Neo-Gothic facade added in 1924, the interior houses precious Baroque decorations, exquisite local marquetry (intarsia), and a font where the famous poet Torquato Tasso was baptized.
Sorrento’s Cloister of San Francesco is an oasis of tranquility steps away from the historic town’s bustling central piazza of Sant’Antonino. Built on the remains of a 7th century monastery and dating back to the 14th century has a unique architecture. The cloister unites a religious complex of the seventh-century monastery and a late-medieval church, both dedicated to St Francis of Assisi and is a showpiece of various architectural styles from pre-Roman through Arabic to medieval. Spot the columns, each one differently decorated from one another and admire the majestic pepper tree, which stands superbly in the middle.
Villa Comunale is a stunning property which stands on the gardens of the Franciscan friars. The Villa has a beautiful park of palm trees, holm, oaks, and century-old pines overlooking the sea. You could take breathtaking picture of the Gulf dominated by the Volcano Vesuvius.
At the end of the visit, you will explore Marina Grande, Sorrento’s most authentic and picturesque fishing village. Separated from the main town by a dramatic stone gateway built by the Greeks, this historic harbor feels like a step back in time. While the rest of Sorrento developed into a sophisticated tourist hub, Marina Grande has preserved its traditional charm with colorful wooden boats, pastel-colored houses, and nets drying in the sun. Today, it is famous for its vibrant atmosphere and family-run restaurants that serve some of the best fresh seafood in the region. It also served as the iconic filming location for the 1954 movie Scandal in Sorrento, starring Sophia Loren.

Excellent guiding by Rosella and driving by Andrea
We had a great walking tour in this lovely city. The guide was informative and made the walk interesting, sharing personal anecdotes along the way.
We did this tour the very next day AFTER arriving in Sorrento! It helped us to get to know the Main Street, Corso Italia, and figure out directions for the rest of the week, very helpful!
Absolutely amazing . Our guide was passionate, kind, generous and knowledgeable! We loved her and are grateful for a fabulous experience. Gratzie!
Really great guide very knowledgeable and great recommendations for everything you need to know about the area all by a local. A must if you want to really enjoy your break.
Fran was excellent. She was interesting, funny, and went along with the wishes of the group. Highly recommend Fran!!
We had a wonderful time visiting Pompeii with our guide Lulu! She made the experience fun and educational. This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
Great trip. Rosella was a great guide and very friendly. Found her easily at pick up point. Transferred to Pompeii where our guide gave us lots of information. Free time then Vesuvius. A great day.
Wonderful personality fun and knowledgeable
Sergio and our driver Andrea were great and Andrea’s skill in very rainy and foggy conditions was exceptional. We ha plenty of time to eat a proper lunch - unlike other tours I have done. Sergio’s recommendations were very much appreciated. The only problem came when we had to go to the meeting point and weren't given proper instruction so were left waiting in the rain until i contacted the booking people who then gave us the missing information
It will take you to places that teach you about Sorrento’s history and specialties. A worthwhile excursion, We did it in the evening and it was the perfect time to take this tour. . Our guide Mara was very knowledgeable and professional.
Great day with lots of interesting stops and information. Hotel pick up was a huge bonus thank you
Francesca was quite knowledgeable and engaging. I would recommend her.
Amazing experience! Fran was great.
Lulu was a wonderful tour guide. She was very entertaining from the time we got on the bus, during the tour and on the way back to our Sorrento rental. Her English was very good and she knew her facts about Pompeii. My family and I learned so much about this historical site.
Sergio did an amazing job. Well paced tour. You get a high-lite tour of Amalfi coast.
We had an incredible experience! Our tour guide (Marialuisa) was fantastic from start to finish, offering great tips, helpful insights, and so much knowledge that really made the day special. They made everything enjoyable, seamless, and memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!
Lu Lu was a fantastic guide; knowledgeable and so personable! Excellent
Max and Melania were amazing guides! Lots of fun facts were learned and I’d highly recommend this tour to others
We had a wonderful experience! Our guide Max was so funny, personable, and knowledgeable. Our tour guide Mel was AMAZING! I learned so much on the tour through Pompeii. She really packed a lot in time we had. And our driver Lorenzo killed it while driving this giant bus through the small roads of Sorrento! An overall amazing experience that is absolutely worth the money.
Excellent from start to finish. Max ( bus guide) & Melania (amazingly knowledgeable tour guide) made it even more special. Thankyou!
We had an amazing time on this tour. Danilo is an interesting and fun tour guide. Shout out also to Nello the driver for keeping us safe on the thrilling ride along the thrilling and beautiful Amalfi coast. The bus was super comfortable and it was a busy day. Not a lot of time in each location but we got to see all three towns and we loved the boat ride add on in Amalfi!
Best tour ever of Amalfi, Danilo is the funniest and best tour guide ever! Definitely sign up for this tour!
Wow! Mara was the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed our private tour with Mara so much. It was definitely one of the best tours I’ve ever taken. She is so knowledgeable about her homeland and shared the history of Sorrento, traditions, recommended restaurants and where to purchase handbags and local food items we wanted to take back home. I was looking for a specific candy and she actually went out of her way and checked in a store where she thought it would be and found it for me. She gave us superb restaurant recommendation. That was definitely one of the best meals we had. She also told us the stores we probably want to avoid. The history she shared was fascinating to us. My 25 year-old daughter who was with us said several times during our vacation. She would love to hang out with Mara because she was so knowledgeable of the area.
Great tour guide, good experience. Very much recommended.
Angela was outstanding. Super entertaining and very informative brilliant guide.
The good news was the sun was out and no rain . The bad news the Grotto was closed. However Fransca made up for it with her witty comments and able to skip the lines. I would definitely go again with her
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely brilliant experience with amazing guides! This was our first ever organised tour, so we were a little nervous beforehand about where to go, what to do and potentially getting lost, but we really had nothing to worry about! Angela was absolutely amazing from the very beginning! She was so friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful, giving clear instructions throughout and making everything incredibly easy to follow. Our bus driver Antonio was fantastic too, and together they made the whole experience feel so relaxed and well organised. We then had the lovely Monica as our guide around Pompeii, and what a brilliant experience that was! Her knowledge was incredible, full of fascinating facts, figures and stories, and she was more than happy to answer any questions. You could really tell how passionate she was about Pompeii, and that enthusiasm was infectious! She made the history come alive and genuinely made us feel just as excited and interested as she was. One of our favourite moments was when Monica asked someone where they were staying, and they replied “Naples”. Without missing a beat, she said, “No, it’s Napoli! Naples is in Florida, darling!” 😂 Absolutely loved her! A huge thank you to Angela, Monica and Antonio for making our first tour such a memorable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and couldn’t have asked for better guides. Would 100% recommend!
Our guide Angela was an incredible and knowledgeable host! Thank you for sharing the history of Vesuvius and Napoli with us! Extra shout out too to Monica who was our guide in Pompeii! She was a very kind and again knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour!
Luisa was incredibly knowledgeable, had a good sense of humour and genuinely cared for everyone in her group. We loved being with her for the day.
Luisa is so engaging and personable and caring. We learned a lot about Pompeii, which was fantastic for my homeschool family. We had learned a bit by going to a museum exhibit during our unit study, and, of course, learned even more and were so fascinated by everything. Luisa knew a great deal and was able to answer any questions that came to mind. It rained for 3 days so our hike to Vesuvius was closed so the second part of our tour was rerouted to Herculaneum. And it was amazing! We loved our day. And when we came across a poor woman who had slipped on the wet stones at Pompeii and cut her head open (she was not in our group), Luisa went over and stayed with the couple trying to call for help, which made many of us in the group feel relieved to do. Unable to make the call, Luisa went up to find a guard to send help and even gave the group an update when the lady was found by the medical help, again relieving our group which was still concerned. It was just a really fantastic and fun day. Luisa was terrific and very kind to our “bambini”. She even edited the adulty parts of Pompeii to not expose our children. 5 stars, Luisa!
Sergio was a great tour guide and his audio equipment made it easy to hear no matter how far I wondered from him. Palo was an amazing and safe driver. My wife and I enjoyed the entire day.
Loved Lulu’s enthusiasm despite the rain!
Our tour guide kept us laughing even when rocks were stopping traffic.
Danilo was knowledgeable & made a rainy day and traffic-filled return bearable. Francesco, our driver was top-notch and we felt safe. They make a good team!
Marianna - excellent guide and driver
Lia was fantastic! Great info & stories. She made sure we didn’t miss a thing. It was a great day!
Ciro and Daniel were the best!!
Danilo and Ciro were great! We saw great views and had enough time in each place to realize the scenery is what you come for. The shops all sell the same overpriced stuff, some good, most cheap souvenirs. Danilo did recommend a great Gelato spot, and the specialty lemon snacks, candles, and soaps were all spectacular! Make sure to do the added boat tour. The views of the coast are not to be missed! Great value for what you see!
Excellent guides. Beautiful view of the crater. Not to hard of a hike. Definitely recommend.
Mara did a great job and was very knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend this tour to everyone. Was there for 5 days and saw all new stuff.
Marilù was exceptional and we had the best time in Capri and Anacapri. She was extremely kind, punctual, and made sure we were well taken care of. My husband and I really wanted to go on a boat in addition to the tour and she went out of her way to help coordinate this for us last minute. She made our honeymoon so memorable and we cannot thank her enough. Highly recommend !!
Wonderful experience with Mario! We happened to be the only two on tour & it was a personal tour through Sorrento. He showed up all the historic spots & gave us amazing recommendations for local artisans, shops, & restaurants & we even got to meet & speak with all of them! Mario was very kind & personable & you could tell he loves Sorrento & all of its history. Best tour I’ve done!! The wall around Sorrento is absolutely beautiful & even better when you have Mario as a tour guide!
Mario is the absolute best! My wife and I were running late because our shuttle hit bad traffic and he called and waited for us. Then took us on the most wonderful tour we could have asked for. Took his time really explaining all aspects of the town and giving us recommendations. Even bought us gelato!! I would give this 1,000 stars if I could. I would recommend a tour with Mario to everyone.
Grazie assaje, Francesca! Thank you so much for the two amazing, private all-day tours: the island of Capri, Positano, Amalfi, and the coast. Your knowledge is both wide and thorough; your personality is so empathetic … a perfect match for our small group; and your recommendations are spot on! We’re so happy with our experience and would definitely recommend you to anyone!
Our guide, Mara was very informative and knowledgeable. We saw amazing craftsmanship in Sorrento. It was a small group making it easy to get around.
The trip was lovely with wonderful scenery. The panoramic boat ride however, was just a ferry to Amalfi. We were encouraged to sit near the rear of the boat to disembark quickly but as we were one of the last on board we had no choice but to sit downstairs with absolutely no view of the coastline. Fortunately we had paid €15 per person to have a 30 minute boat ride along the Amalfi coast, although as we had to wait for our tickets from our tour guide we were last on again! When arriving at Amalfi we were ushered into a restaurant, which wasn't mentioned in the itinerary and weren't even given a menu but instead the waiter reeled off three pasta choices not mentioning any price. This turned out to cost €82 with only water to drink....and we didn't even want to have a meal!! This really should be mentioned in the trip details. Although this seems negative our driver was excellent and we did actually have a lovely day.
Great tour. Very well organised. Lots of interesting information from guide on bus and also tour guide at Pompeii. Good to get in early when not too busy. 2 hours was long enough to see parts of site and guide was very helpful in explaining different areas.
Great experience with the tour guides Simone and Alessa
