Pompeii stays as one the most visited archeological site in the world for its unique atmosphere as an intact town, frozen in time after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 a. d. Herculaneum tour is very similar though the town is smaller than Pompeii and probably better kept and grander. They both offer the best look anywhere at what life must have been like in Rome 2000 years ago.
Driver so well informed and added a surprise wine tasting which was excellent. Herculean was the more interesting location as the artifacts and remains had been well preserved due to a mud slide at the time of the event. Also not nearly as crowded as Pompei. This was a must see
We took a 2 hour Pompeii tour With our family of 5 including my 80 year old father that has problems walking. Our tour guide Ormella was very knowledgeable on Pompeii but more importantly was very accommodating to my father. While it was almost unavoidable, She found ways around to help him and choose pathways that while still difficult, would be better on his legs. Our driver, Domenico was great he was very informative and went out of his way to make our Pompeii experience even better then expected. He recommended and took us to a great vineyard that ended up being the highlight of Sorrento. I would request Domenico if possible to be the driver for your tour.

Our tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum was very insightful. We had a driver and separate guides at each location. Our driver Domenico Corcione was very flexible and accommodating, because we asked him to make a detour due to a sudden rainstorm. Our guide at Herculaneum, Hector, was very knowledgeable and had connected with the archaeologists at the site to provide many details. Our guide at Pompeii, Miriam De Rosa, was also extremely knowledgeable with perfect English and able to find beautiful spots away from the crowds that gave us a true appreciation for ancient Roman life.

Wow! Just WOW. I booked this private tour as a gift for my niece following her medical school graduation. The company was wonderful. Excellent communication and service. Our driver Vincenzo shared really cool information about the area on our drive from Sorrento. Carlos, the Herculaneum guide, is a GEM! Wealth of information and so fun. Antonio, our driver, was really great! He was on time, very friendly, and made sure we had a wonderful time. The Mercedes van is the only way to go so that you maximize your day. We met up with Lucia for the Pompeii tour and it was amazing… she was even able to keep our teenage boys engaged and excited the entire time. Excellent guide. The private tour is worth the money as the guides are better. The amount of detail was perfect. Next visit I will also spend time in Pompeii after the private tour just to wander around
We started with the sweetest and friendliest driver one could ask for. He answered all our questions, made great suggestions for the day, and did not hurry us. Our guide Fabio was exceptional. We learned things we would not have learned with another guide. It all exceed our expectations. I would highly recommend.
Loved comparing Pompeii and Herculaneum. Also, learned so much I did not know, such as the earthquake in 62AD. Fabio made it all so interesting.
The driver got lost causing a delay that took away from our tour and lunch time. Everything was rushed and the allotted time in Pompeii was decreased by one and half hours. Tge operator was not as responsive as expected which resulted in numerous calls and text messages on my part.
Barbara, our tour guide, was fantastic! She did an excellent job keeping our children engaged and provided loads of detail about the both locations. Herculaneum was incredible and Pompeii was wonderful. We went from a cruise stop on Naples and it was excellent service to and from the port-very convenient and made a great dsy trip from Naples.
Driver was excellent , Tony was a wealth of knowledge about the area of Sorrento and all the cities around Pompeii and Herculaneum. We had two very excellent guides for Herculaneum and Pompeii, one was an archeologist. Just excellent day!
Both of our guides Franco (Herulaneum) & Josy (Pompeii) were incredibly knowledgeable about each area and delivered information about the towns, the people that would have lived there, the way of life and the eruption itself clearly and with visible passion for the subject. The day was very informative and thoroughly enjoyable. We also were able to add on a visit to the crater at Vesuvius for an additional fee, which was well worth the amazing views from the top!
Our guides Roberta and Vincenzo were wonderful. We learned a lot and had fun. Beautiful places and we had enough time to see the best parts thanks to guides.
Wow, what an amazing excursion. Pompeii was huge, over 17 acres, 2 hours barely made a dent in seeing this archaeological treasure. Herculaneum was much smaller and easier to get around, again just amazing. Strongly recommend this trip for visitors.
Vincenzo was our driver for the day. He was great. Vincenzo suggested a winery on the mountain to end the day rather add on a hike to the cráter’s edge. It was already 97F - so his liquid refreshment idea sounded real good :-). It seemed like we were a stone’s throw from the crater at the winery (Cantina del Vesuvius) so we got the best solution. Vincenzo arranged the wine tasting and lunch. Very cool logo for the property - involving the mountain as you’d expect:-). We also had a private guide for the 2 sites and very much worth it to cut through the crowds, see the highlights and vamoose! Thank so much Vincenzo!
Wonderful trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum plus an additional last minute stop at an olive oil factory and pizza school!!! Antonio is a great driver and guide who was quick to suggest terrific additions to our day! Wear your sneakers to discover so much in Pompeii and Herculaneum! We had private guides there who were very knowledgeable. Pizza school was a last minute bonus that was so much fun. Highly recommend this tour!!

Booking this private tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy from the US. Our guide, Franco, was fantastic. He made sure we saw the most important parts of both sites based on the time allowed and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our driver, Umberto, was equally friendly and was a pleasure to talk to as we chatted about Italian culture amongst other things. We had booked the tour late the night before and the tour operator contacted us quickly to confirm our booking and the pickup time for the next morning. Very professional. The price isn’t a lot compared to the in depth view into such a historical event.
I had only two days in Naples and several specific places I wanted to visit, and my outstanding driver, Antoino, made it all happen. Ask for him specifically, and you’ll be glad you did. He is consistently pleasant and professional, and a great driver in some quite high-stress traffic. My goal was a deep-dive into the towns and people of Herculaneum and Pompeii. I spent the first afternoon in the Naples National Archaeological Museum, viewing the treasures and decorative arts excavated from both cities. Day Two was spent exploring the sites with a wonderful guide, Lucia. It was a great introduction to Naples, and Antoine made sure I was able to maximize my time there by getting me where I wanted to be on time.
What an amazing day we had with Antonio, our driver, and Lucia, our guide. Antonio picked us up promptly at our villa. He was very professional and attentive to our party of 8. We are ending a 36 day European tour and have had some great tour guides along the way, but Lucia may have topped them all. She was so friendly; got to know the members of our party by name and her knowledge of Pompeii and Herculaneum unsurpassed. She brought those civilizations back to life for us. If you have an option to request her as your guide, you will not be disappointed. The only negative to the day is that Pompeii is so massive one couldn't possibly see it all. Calls for another trip!
Lucia made our visit to Herculaneum & Pompeii a special experience. Her knowledge of the area helped us understand what life 2000 years ago was like. She was very easy to understand & her enthusiasm for the sites gave us a great perspective! And Umberto was a great driver!
Our trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum was the high point of our stay in Sorento. Lucia our guide was passionate about the history of the area and shared that passion with us. Both cities are fascinating. At the suggestion of Fabio our driver we went to Bosco de Medici for wine tasting and lunch after the tour. I highly recommend making that part of the trip. The wine is exceptional and the food was delicious. Anthony our sommelier was terrific. We truly had a great day.
We were a group of 6 adults and one teenager. Everyone loved the entire day! Our guide, Lucia, was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell that she loves the history of the two ruin sites, and she could easily answer any question we threw at her. Umberto was our driver, and he was very fun. He handled the roads like a pro :-) We asked to have lunch at a winery, and it was amazing! A set menu, plus tastings of six wines in a beautiful setting, was a perfect way to take a break between the two sites. I highly recommend this tour!
Great tour with Luciano yt Herculaneum and Lucca at Pompeii Picked up promptly at our apartment . The days itinerary explained then off to Herculaneum first. Afterwards on to Pompeii for lunch - great salad. Met Lucca for Pompeii part of tour.It happened to be very hot that day - so need pl entry of water,hats n sunscreen or do this tour in cooler weather. Recommend both tour guides. They had so much knowledge and made it so interesting

I had such a good day with Umberto! I was originally supposed to go to Pompeii & Herculaneum but after I was done with Pompeii I was over ruins. Umberto insisted that I suggest another place for him to take me to. I decided on Ravello and I loved it! We also drove alone the Amalfi coast & stopped in Positano so that I could take pictures of the amazing view. Umberto was so patient, kind, professional,& knowledgeable. I am so glad he was my driver!
Very interesting and very big area to cover which why we felt our visit was cut short as also fitting in herculaneum which is smaller but just as good.
Four of us took this private tour. We were picked up and dropped off in Sorrento which was a benefit but the best was our guide, Lucia. She was so knowledgeable and for 2 large sites, guided us to the places which most represented what happened there and what antiquities best represented the cities before the eruption. We could not have had the same depth of information with an audio tour or with a large group tour. She answered every question with enthusiasm and detail.

<p>An informative tour by a very knowledgable guide. She was very enthusiastic and made the sites interesting for us. However this "full day" tour was over by 2 pm followed by lunch. I would prefer a longer day as there was lots more to see (our amalfi coast tour finished 5pm!)</p>
<p>Lucia, our guide, and her husband, our driver, were both professional and engaging. Having previously visited Pompeii, I assumed that the tour would be redundant. I was both surprised and impressed. Lucia provided us incredible insight into the life of each site. Her language skills are excellent, exceeded only by her knowledge of the subject. Herculaneum was totally amazing - small but such a story and fabulous ruins. This tour was paced well and provided all of us in our group a clear understanding of each site and the life of the people. Well worth the cost of a private tour!</p>
