Private Irpinia Wine Tour From Positano, Amalfi Or Ravello

We’ve done hundreds of wine tasting experiences in many locations but this one is the most memorable. Gaetno from The Wine Bus set up a truly magnificent experience at both wineries, both of which made some very high end wines. When I first got a message that we were going to get a “truck load of food” I thought it maybe was a little bit of hype. But no it was the exact opposite. The first winery was a very high end small boutique winery. Amazing wine and an amazing winery and an incredible winemaker who was also a very kind man. He had put out a huge spread of very high end meats, cheeses, bread and many other things. We spent a full two hours there and it was really fun. So I thought this was the truckload of food and was quite satisfied. When we arrived at the second winery it was quite impressive. And when we walked into the tasting room there was the largest and most amazing spread of food I’ve ever seen in a winery. Clearly enough for a group of eight, but it was just my wife and I. As it turns out, this was just the starters. If you’ve ever been to an old Italian grandmothers home on Sunday who loves to cook and is great at it this is what we experienced. The wife of the owner made a everything and started cooking for us the day before. She was a world class cook with an unbelievable passion for it. We were there for about 3 1/2 hours I think and it was so much fun and so good. And of course the wine was amazing too.

Gaetano was such a great host and tour guide! My family and I had the best time. We were picked up from our hotel in Positano on time and the ride was smooth. There was some traffic so it took us a little over 2 hours to reach the first stop. At both wineries we were treated as family. There was SO much food, plan on a late, light dinner after this tour! The first winery really felt like we were in a family’s home. The tour was informative and the wine was delicious. The second stop was great to see the contrast in the technology. We also enjoyed the wine here and the food was again plentiful and delicious. I like the cheese so much, I asked about where I could buy it. Gaetano went out of his way to find the cheese for me. He went as far as to deliver it to me in Naples! He is a great guy to spend the day with and really treats you like family. I highly recommend this tour!

WineGuy is a must when visiting Southern Italy Such an amazing adventure with the “WineGuy” on our trip to Italy ! Very professional transfers from the airport in Rome to our hotels, and then our transfer to Sorrento, but we made a stop in Cassino for an amazing lunch! We visited a town my brother-in-law’s Grandparents were from, and Guy even arranged a meeting with the town mayor. Our visit to the Donna Elvira winery was anything less than spectacular and very informative by Dr. Mirco Colella. In fact my wine that I ordered arrived in less 2 weeks! If you’re planning a trip to Italy especially to Southern Italy you won’t be disappointed in contacting the “WineGuy”!!!

One of the best wine tours my partner and I have done. Our tour guide, Gaetano, was very informative in explaining the different wines. Extremely nice as well. Wineries were beautiful and the wines were excellent. Owners were very generous in their tastings. Excellent value for the experience we had.

We recently took the private Irpinia wine tour with The Wine bus and had an absolutely wonderful time. Our host and Sommelier, Gaetano Petrillo, was fantastic. He brought us to two small family run wineries where we not only sampled some very good wine but also had the opportunity to meet the families and enjoyed a spread featuring local cheeses, breads and salamies. He was very knowledgeable and his wit and charm just added to the experience. I drink primarily Italians wines at home but I was not familiar with the wines of Campania. They did not disappoint. The entire experience was one we will remember for some time. Our driver was also very good and very professional. I would recommend this tour very highly.

Can’t say enough great things about Guy and the amazing day we spent with him. Super friendly, very accommodating. Would absolutely recommend doing this as part of any trip.

This was a wonderful experience. I recommend everyone do this. Ate a lot of great food and drank a lot of wine. It was a little different that I imagined.. we did not necessarily walk through the vineyards, but just sat down and ate a lot of home cooked food as well as drank their local wine. Awesome time!

My wife and I just wrapped up our honeymoon (split time between Positano and Rome). While both cities were awesome, neither experience compared to this tour which felt completely “authentic” in my opinion. We were picked up from our hotel in Positano and driven around the coast of Sorrento and into the mountain Irpinia region. You will get the opportunity to visit 2 separate wineries (tasting red, white, and possibly a Rose if you visit the same winery as us). You get to o sit down with he families that run the winery and eat a home cooked Italian meal while drinking wine! Both wineries had the best food of the entire trip (also both places made incredible jams that we had to purchase upon leaving). Our tour guide Sonya was the absolute best tour guide you can ask for. When we visit the Almafi coast again we will be booking this same tour!

Gaetano was the perfect guide. He went above and beyond to make this the perfect experience. He is a wealth of knowledge and shared many stories as we made our way to the winery and all of the other stops. He also orchestrated a lovely surprise with the winery owners to have a Birthday Cake for us. All-in all it was the perfect day!

Geatano was a perfect guide and did a lot more than we expected. We highly recommend this tour. The tour was not only with a guide but a good opportunity to make a new friend as well. He picked us up at the hotel and we did a lunch at the first winery. The owner had made a great lunch and we were served a lot of wine :-) This tour is a must to!

This was our second time doing the store and it was just as amazing this time. Gaetano was a wonderful tour guide, very friendly and outgoing and very knowledgeable.We visited two family run wineries and had delicious homemade food at both (you will not need to eat dinner after this tour!) We drank, ate and talked with the owners of the wineries and Gaetano- it was very relaxing and felt like spending the afternoon hanging out and having lunch with your friends and family. We will definitely be returning next time we were Italy, Well worth every penny.

Gaetano was a wonderful tour guide, with a great personality, who thoughtfully chose two wonderful wineries for our excursion. The family-run wineries were so welcoming, and the experience of wine tasting along with the food that was prepared for us made us feel like we were part of their families.

Gaetano, our sommelier, picked up my daughter and I early to head to the first winery. Along the way, he shared many colorful stories about the area and what we could expect at the winery. When we arrived at the first winery, we were stunned to find that the owner of the winery would be wine tasting with us! The owner, Giancarlo, had laid out a sumptuous table for us of bread, sausage, cheeses to accompany his delicious wines. For the next four hours we ate, tasted delicious wines, shared stories about our families and much laughter. It was an unforgettable experience, and frankly, we will always be comparing future wine tasting experiences to this one. It far exceeded what we had imagined. We ordered a case of our favorite wines to be sent to our home, The next winery was situated in the countryside with rolling hills and grapevines. The winery was a beautiful white villa, with the lovely Federica showing us the wine making process, then we tasted five very delicious wines, both white and red. To our surprise, the owner of the winery and his son stopped by to greet us and shake hands. We ordered another case of wine! I must say, my daughter and I didn’t know what to expect, but we thoroughly enjoyed this day. This was one of the highlights of our trip to the Amalia Coast. Gaetano was the best guide, truly a personable and knowledgeable individual. Bravo, to him for such a wonderful day.

First vineyard was small family owned and provided a personal experience! Mama cooked wonderful food!! 2nd vineyard runs like a business and we felt like a burden to owner for tour. Tour guide purpose??? Not sure we needed her

We had a fantastic time on our wine tour. We visited 2 wineries, and had a great meal at the second winery that was prepared by the winemakers mother. The wines we sampled at both wineries were stellar. Gaetano had a couple of days free later in the week, and we worked out a deal to have him take us to Paestum and Casarta. On one of the days he arranged a meal for us at a small restaurant in Buccino where he knew the co-owner, that was very possibly the best meal we've ever had. i would whole-heartedly recommend Gaetano and the Wine Bus, you won't be disappointed.

This tour went above and beyond my expectations! We had the privilege of stopping at 2 very different local wineries. Each one was family owned and we were actually hosted by the family members that owned and ran each! The first winery we stopped at even made us some homemade food with items picked that morning from their personal garden. Gaetano and his partner have relationships with over 20 different wineries so you can go back several times and may see different places each time. Gaetano was also very patient with my mom and I and took the time to teach us about the wines we were trying, how to do an actual tasting, and explained what each step is for. I would highly recommend The Wine Bus and cannot wait for my next trip to Italy so I can take advantage of this amazing experience again.

We cannot say enough great things about our experience with Gaetano and The Wine Bus. He was in touch with me prior to our scheduled tour in efforts to coordinate the best experience possible. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to two wineries. Despite the timing being difficult with VinItaly occurring at the time, we visited two fantastic wineries, each with their own character. Right away, riding along with Gaetano and getting to know him, it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. He has such a fun loving and dynamic personality. He was a pleasure to be with throughout the day. Gaetano really developed a feel for what we like and I feel that the experience was tailored to meet our taste. The cheese farm tasting was a great experience on top as was the trip to the gelateria. If we didn't have other experiences already booked, I would have absolutely hired Gaetano for additional tours. Bravissimo!!

<p>Great tour. Sweet and accommodating guide. Excellent first location. Owners prepared lunch and showed us how they make the wine. Second less interesting - cramped room for tasting but perhaps would have been a better experience if the weather had been better. Overall I would recommend the trip!</p>
