A very well-organised day, the main tour guide Nico was exceptional, and took time to care for the groups needs. At Pompeii we were handed over to Theresa who was also great, the tour was very educational and more than that atmospheric. We were handed back to Nico after a couple of hours and went for lunch which was a lovely pizza. The climb to Vesuvius was hard, but well worth it when we reached the top. Be warned there are no toilets on the mountain and only one At the bottom which has an endless queue. Luckily Nico arranged a stop a few miles down the road as the drive back takes a while. Overall I would 100% book with them again.

Itinerary
The Tours starts at 8:30 am at the entrance of the Parcheggio Comunale Achille Lauro, Via Correale, 80067 Sorrento NA, where a Tour leader will greet you. You will be picked up there and you will reach the Mount Vesuvius.
Embarking on a picturesque climb to an altitude of 1000 meters, you'll encounter the magnificent Vesuvius crater, soaking in the sweeping vistas of the Gulf of Naples. As you reach the crater, a knowledgeable local guide will delve into the volcano's intriguing past.
You will pass through the panoramic street which links the Mount Vesuvius to the restaurant where you will stop for lunch.
You will have lunch in a pizzeria on the slopes of the Vesuvius: you can choose between the most typical Neapolitan pizzas: Margherita or Marinara.
Immerse yourself in ancient history while meandering through the archaeological site, retracing the steps of the city buried by Vesuvius' eruption in 79 AD. Your guide will vividly unfold the city's narrative, spotlighting its baths, bakeries, theaters, frescoes, and mosaics for a captivating experience.
You will visit the Pompeii Forum, a Roman-era plaza. This site functioned as the central square of the city, serving as the hub for political, economic, and religious activities, including events, trade negotiations, and discussions.
You will visit the Thermopolis, which was a place of refreshment in use in ancient Rome, where hot drinks and sometimes ready-to-eat food could be purchased and consumed.
Included in the Pompeii Guided Tour is a visit to the Lupanare, a structure dedicated to the practice of the prostitution.
You will have the chance to explore the Stabian Baths, where Romans not only bathed but also engaged in discussions about politics, legal matters, battles, women, gladiators and theater. Above all, it was the civic gathering place where daily events were commented on and discussed.
At the end of the Tour, you will come back to Sorrento at the initial meeting point. The transportation in order to reach the meeting point lasts one hour, but it always depends on the traffic conditions.

Perfect day for both tours with delicious pizza in between. I will say...if you get winded easily, the hike up the volcano will be rough. Very steep!!!
They cancelled 36 hours before excursion with very poor explanation. Very unprofessional agency! Stay away!!!
Great tour guide & driver. Would let people know there is a strenuous climb, if they are going to top of crater.
Awesome tour! Kiara and our bus driver (I'm sorry I can't remember your name) were great! Such lovely engaging hosts that made the tour so much better. Can't fault them! Easy to get along with and such a relaxed manner. They offered additional local advice and were so friendly. The tour was brilliant from Pompeii to lunch, love love loved the extra stop for limoncello tasting and extras. So much fun! And the walk to the top of Mt Vesuvius was amazing! Plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere at every location. Highly recommend this tour! The local guide, Mike, at Pompeii was awesome!
The overall trip was fine. However it was advertised as a small group up to 25 people. The Pompeii experience turned into a large group of 35+ this was unmanageable for one guide. The audio dipped in and out because it was impossible for the guide to hold everyone together tightly enough for it to transmit properly, this spoilt the experience
Nicoli and Enzo created a wonderful day for us to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius. Nicoli was a very friendly guide and cared about everyone’s experience. We felt very safe driving on the mountain roads in the small bus and had a wonderful guided tour in Pompeii with Elena. Lunch was delicious pizza and the views from the top of Vesuvius were amazing! Highly recommend this tour.
We had a great guide, Niko, and driver was likewise, Jean Luca! We loved learning the history of the sites as we traveled to Pompeii & Vesuvius. Seeing the architecture & the relics was a once in a life time for me, maybe not for others. The climb to Vesuvius was no joke. The same for the decent. But the vastness and the natural beauty was a sight to behold. Totally worth it! Pizza lunch between the ruins and the volcano was Perfetto. A great tour indeed!
I booked a tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius with transportation from Sorrento. The meet-up point in Sorrento was just a five minute walk from my Airbnb. Chiara was our tour guide on the bus, and Mimo was our driver. They were both excellent. Mimo managed the winding, narrow roads and hairpin turns with ease, and Chiara was very communicative. She kept us informed and explained our itinerary, and she also pointed out the sights we were passing on the bus. She did this in both english AND in Spanish since there was one Spanish speaking couple on our bus. There were only about 12 tourists on our bus, so it was a nice, small group. Pompeii is a must see for everyone who visits this region in Italy. Our guide through the streets and ruins of Pompeii was Giovanni, and he, too, was an excellent guide. I think it is essential to have someone explain exactly what we are seeing who can also answer questions. After Pompeii, we boarded the bus and were driven to a restauant for lunch. It was a nice restaurant which had some good views. The pizza and beer were tasty and satisfying. All in all, the lunch stop was better than I anticipated. After lunch, we headed to Vesuvius which my husband and I climbed on our own to the rim. The uphill walk to the rim in the late summer heat was challenging, but worth it!! I highly recommend this tour. It was a very good value for cost. We enjoyed our day immensely!
Guides was easy to understand Trip was very good could do with little more time on the mountain but very knowledgeable guides. Lunch stop was nice 😋
This is a long tour but it’s great. We had to take an expensive taxi to our pick up site 40 minutes from where we were staying in Sorrento only to find out almost everyone got on the bus in Sorrento. This was not an option for us when we booked.
HP Travel Services operated our tour, and overall there were some very enjoyable parts, but several of us felt the tour itself was lacking. The bus was quite late picking us up due to traffic. We appreciated that the scheduled touring times remained the same despite the delayed pickup. Knowing that traffic can be an issue in this area, an earlier departure for the incoming bus may have helped. Several other tour buses arrived and departed while we were waiting. On the drive to Vesuvius, we expected to hear some information about Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, or the history of the surrounding area. Instead, we were primarily told how long the drive would take, the height of the volcano, and how long we had at the site. As a result, the transportation portion felt more like a bus ride than part of the tour experience. Some historical or geographical commentary along the way would have added a lot to the experience. We had approximately an hour and a half to reach the summit, walk around the crater, and return to the bus. This was just enough time, although there wasn’t much time to spare. We took a few short breather breaks while making our way up, which helped. The pizza and wine stop on the way to Pompeii was excellent. Pompeii itself was amazing and well worth the visit; unfortunately, the audio equipment was frequently not working, which seemed to fluster the guide. In addition to the technical difficulties, it appeared that the frequency became difficult to hear if you were toward the back of the group or around a corner from the guide. With a group of approximately 25 people, this became a significant issue. The last four or five people often missed portions of the guide’s commentary — I was one of them. It also seemed that some important details about Pompeii were missing from the commentary. At times, other members of the group prompted the guide to provide additional information that would have been helpful to everyone. It may have been more effective to have the group gather together at designated points and have the guide speak to everyone directly, rather than relying so heavily on the audio system while walking. This would have made it easier for everyone to hear and would also have allowed the guide to provide a more complete explanation of what we were seeing. Overall, the tour included some wonderful experiences. The hike to the top of Mt Vesuvius and the views were amazing, and Pompeii truly at site to see, but better communication and historical commentary during the transportation portions, along with a more reliable way of delivering the guide’s commentary at Pompeii, would significantly improve the experience.
Well organised with knowledgeable tour guides. Got to see the highlights of Pompeii & made it to the top of Vesuvio! Great pizza lunch too.
Our guide nicollo gave us a detailed history of sorrento, pompeii and Vesuvius en route on the bus. He had a great sense of humour and was very informative. On arrival to Pompeii we met our guide for the tour Antony who was fab! The tour takes in the main parts of Pompeii - it was enough to get a good overview of the site. 2 hours in total. It was busy though and you have to keep an eye on the guide because they move on quickly from point to point! Next stop was for pizza at a lovely restaurant which was very well organised and not at all rushed. Onto Vesuvius and this is done at your own pace, it’s a bit steep in places but manageable and the hour and a half is plenty of time to get to the top and back down.
Gaetano was very informative and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour and hope Gaetano is your guide!
Our tour guide was great, gave us great bits of information along the way, little tips for each town (good places to eat, shop or get gelato!) we did this tour in the first half of September and it was still around 30 degrees and VERY busy, especially in Amalfi. The crowds were quite intense. The free time in each place was ample and a great amount to really see everything you want to see.
This was a fabulous tour. It was more strenuous than expected - a lot of walking on uneven stones. It was a scorchingly hot day but the tour guide did his best to find shade as we walked along. There was so much information to absorb but he explained the history well.
The tour was very well organized. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Our tour guide Chiara was knowledgeable, very friendly and interacted well with all of the patrons. Lunch was delicious. The tour guide at Pompeii was excellent! If you are going to climb Mt. Vesuvius I suggest you bring water and use trekking poles for stability. Last but not least, cheers to the bus driver, whose name escapes me at the moment. He was very pleasant and patient. I highly recommend this tour.
The driver and tour organizer were great. The Pompeii tour guide, Lilly, was AMAZING!! We wish we had more time with her. The hike to Mt Vesuvius was great. No tour guide/tour people on that part of the day. Nice to break away from group and go at our own pace. Pizza for lunch was great!!!! The bus air conditioning broke and they swapped out busses during our lunch so we could keep cool. Thank you!!!! Only gripe… The fact that we had to accommodate others due to them booking incorrectly and/or being late is disrespectful of others time.
Great tour, really well thought out. We did Pompeii in the morning with our tour guide, Lilly, who was very knowledgeable. After about 2.5hrs, we then started making our way to Vesuvius, stopping half way for lunch which was great. We had time afterward lunch to go into a nearby shop, where the owner offered everyone limoncello tasters! We then hopped back on the bus and were dropped at Vesuvius, where we had about 2 hours to climb at our own pace. Really recommend - great value for money and took the stress out of having to worry about transport!
This was a fantastic day. Nicolo' was our guide on the coach. He gave us some really interesting information on the coach to Pompeii, between Pompeii and Vesuvius and from Vesuvius back to Sorrento. Alex was our guide at Pompeii and was also amazing. Lunch (pizza) was fantastic before we climbed to the top of Vesuvius. The views from the top were amazing.
Niccolo, Ira and Enzo were great. I appreciated their knowledge and professionalism. I would highly recommend to book a tour with them.
Cara and Jean-Luca were fantastic hosts! They were kind, helpful, fun and very knowledgeable. They always made sure everyone was happy and gave us the best opportunities and tips to see everything. Would definitely recommend booking this tour and asking for them.
In August. Hot and humid- take lots of fluids and comfortable closed shoes in you ar walking alot. But absolutely learned more about Pompei and Mt Vesuisia. The hospitality was great all day long.
Overall this tour was average to slightly below average. Pros: - air conditioned bus - easy pick up and drop off options Cons: - guides not knowledgeable - tour guides staring the obvious without historical context - Lunch was average at best with only 2 options Overall, a decent option if you want to save money and see both pompeii and vesuvius. If you are looking for more context and historical knowledge, i recommend spending more money on a more knowledgeable guide/tour.
Great trip with Chiara as our guide and Gianluca as driver. Good comms beforehand to let us know the time had changed. Well organised and the pizza was great for lunch too! Both Vesuvius and Pompei are must-sees.
Niccolo (HP travel) was a great bus guide. Pompeii was so interesting and great to see, pizza lunch was tasty and the view from Mount Vesuvius was spectacular. ( it’s a tough climb up) A long day but worth it.
Excellent guided trip, highly recommend. Timely pick.up. Our guide Ira was informative and very knowledgeable. Visited key sights. Whole experience totally fascinating. Following Pompeii we visited Vesuvius stopping part way for great pizza and some lemoncello tasting. Vesuvius was a challenging, doable hike up the last 1km ish (300m elevation) on a track to reach the top. We highly recommend this excursion.
A trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius was well organised and we had a lovely tour guide called Ciara. Driver was John Luca…he was a very careful driver.Ciara was very friendly. This trip was on a large coach with 28 people on board. If you like where you are sitting put something in it to get it when getting off coach as it causes coach wars 🤣 we stopped at a place where a local sells his own lemon products from limoncello to chocolate. Then Mount Vesuvius. It is quite steep so need a decent amount of fitness. Guide said 20 mins uphill but some took longer as having breath breaks. Beautiful views over Naples. Wear old shoes as very dusty and easy to slip in gravel. Stopped off for pizza and a drink (1 alcoholic drink or non alcoholic drink included in price) then to Pompeii where a local guide gave us headsets and walked us around the ruins for just under 2 hours. Toilets available. She was very knowledgeable. Wear hat and sunscreen as exposed and no shade. Water bottle given on coach. Not cold though. But appreciated. Left at 8am and returned at 5. Ciara was very nice to let a couple of people out at an earlier village where they were staying as on the way back. I would recommend this trip
Pompeii was so incredibly interesting, mt. Vesuvius was awesome but the hike was brutal for the 55+ in the group. Enjoyed both our tour guides!!
It was a five for sure the bus driver was great and our tour guide was wonderful.
It was lovely, just lovely. Ira our guide was such a super, knowledgeable and helpful chap and the driver Vincenzo was excellent. We had a wonderful day and learned so much. Thank u boys Penny Wesson
This was a fantastic adventure! There are two notes that I’d like to share for future readers. 1. Pick up in the morning was a little confusing. We booked through the Viator App and didn’t know the actual name of the tour company. There were multiple tours meeting and leaving from the same place. Knowing you’re looking for HP tours or guides will be helpful. 2. We walked over 5 miles today! I wore my trail running shoes and my husband and daughter wore their hiking boots. There were all good choices for us. The sandals would have been way cuter, but I’m glad I left them behind!
This was a wonderful tour of the ruins of Pompeii. The tour guide was excellent, she was very knowledgeable and she made the tour enjoyable. My daughter was able to complete the tour, however I was not, because of the heat. I enjoyed as much as I could and then got a cool drink and rested under the shade. I would highly recommend this tour!
Really good trip. Enjoyed all areas that we visited and the pizza was delicious. Driver and guide were great.
We had a great experience with our tour guide Nicoli and driver V. Very informational and helpful. You can tell these guys love their jobs.
This was a long day that started at 8:15 and ended at 5:25 with pickup and drop off in Sorrento. We started with a climb up Vesuvius. It was a bit brisk at the start, but by the time I got to the top I was quite warm. Layers are recommended. The climb itself was not too difficult, and there is no real rush to get to the top, so you can go at your own pace. This was followed by a stop at a Limoncello shop and then lunch. We then went to Pompeii for an excellent guided tour. The bus rides were long but the bus was air conditioned and comfortable.
A great way to see Mt Vesuvius and the Pompeii ruins. Nicolo and Teresa were great tour guides. The pizza was the best I’ve had during my time in Sorrento, and the bonus stop at the Limoncello factory with tasting was a cherry on top!
Best day visiting Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. Pompeii was beyond what we imagined. Great tour guide Nikolo and our bus driver Enzo added to the day. Bring lots of water - although we did get a bottle on the bus. Pizza stop was also great.
Had a brilliant day with a quick stop off at the Limoncello factory first, 1.5hrs to climb to the crater of Mt Vesuvius and 2hrs in Pompeii. Would not wish to do this trip any later than May due to the vast crowds and temperature. We had a "nice day" but avoid July/August (even the guide said this). Nick our guide on the bus was exceptional and brought humour to the trip. Credit too to Vincenzo the driver who had his work cut out with the windy roads. Nick even presented the passengers with a little gift at the end of the trip. I just could not believe that most people on the bus did not leave him a tip, even if it was 5 euros - we gave him 10 as he went above and beyond.
Great tour, unfortunately bad weather meant we could not hike mt Vesuvius, but the tour organised a wine tasting for us instead! Make sure to check the weather in advance
Maddy was delightful - very engaging, funny and sweet. She shared lots of great information and insights as we travelled to Mt. Vesuvius. The hike was strenuous but doable and the payoff of seeing the crater at the end was well worth it. Definitely prepare for changing weather as it was extremely windy and chilly with a little rain mixed in with sun. The pizza lunch was delicious and it was fun talking with other members of our group. The “surprise” after lunch was really great and entertaining. Enzo did a great job driving the twisty roads and was a very safe driver. Our time in Pompeii was amazing and Lucia was an excellent guide sharing loads of fascinating information as we spent two hours in Pompeii. Would highly recommend this tour!
Get experience, Nicolò is very funny !!!
We had a great day! Guides were lovely and knowledgeable. Lots of extra surprises. Highly recommend
Lovely experience with Maddy and Toni. The overall experience was super awesome. Thank you so much.
Gaetano was a great tour guide
Amazing experience! Kiara was a great tour guide and made sure everything ran smoothly. The views at the top of Vesuvius were incredible and it was interesting exploring the ruins of Pompeii. Would highly recommend to everyone!
Chiara the main guide, Guinaluca the driver and Victoria the guide at Pompei were all really friendly, helpful and made the day run smoothly. The tour is a long day and the hike to the top of Vesuvius was longer than expected and very gravelly which made it more challenging. Chiara was informative with just the right amount of information during the long journeys. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was the length of the day.
Great day at Pompeii and Vesuvius! We started the day climbing Vesuvius. We were given a time to meet back at the bus and then sent off to climb. An extra 20 - 30 minutes for the climb would have been good to take our time a bit more and stop for more photos on the hike. Absolutely loved the pizza lunch between Vesuvius and Pompeii. The pizza was outstanding! We also got to stop at a little family limoncello shop. The owner of the shop gave us some tastings, including mozzarella limoncello! Pompeii took my breath away! It was a wonderful opportunity to see such a special place with so much history. Excellent tour of the city and really learned a lot.
Fantastic the guide was very good a bit tiring but fun for everyone
