First, our tour guide “Franki” was exceptional. He combined humor, knowledge and shade for an enjoyable and informative tour. We came away with a real sense of what happened in Pompeii two thousand years ago! The wine and lunch were lovely and was followed by the 20 minute hike up to Vesuvius. Wear comfortable shoes and it is worth the climb. Well organized staff made for an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

Pompeii was the highlight of our trip and Frankie was an amazing tour guide. I would not change anything about the Pompeii portion of this tour. However, the rest of the tour was not good. Our original group was split up after the Pompeii tour. My wife and I were told to get on a large tour bus for Mt. Vesuvius and the wine tasting. The driver claimed that the air conditioner was on, but it was not even noticeable. Everyone was hot and excessively sweating the whole commute! My pregnant wife was getting overheated and was left in a bad mood. Then, at the winery, we were led to a neat room in the basement with a long table. However, it was only setup for 13 people and there were 15 in the group. The rest of the group was confused why we were there because they all seemed to know each other and acted like they were on a private tour (separate from us). The winery then separated us from the group and we sat at a table upstairs. It was very weird, and I only got 2 small glasses of wine. It wasn’t really a wine tasting. I will say that the food was good, but only trying 2 wines was very disappointing (not to mention the awkwardness of being paired with a large group that thought we were crashing their tour).
Excellent combo of educational tour, invigorating hike, and delightful lunch and wine at a pretty vineyard. Door to door transport made the day a breeze.
What a great day. Pompeii is amazing and is best done with a tour. And while most people only did Pompeii we went up to the top of Mt Vesivious, walking to the very top. After all that it was time for lunch and tasting at a beautiful winery!!!! The food was amazing! All in all, it was a fabulous day!
There was no information after the Pompeii part and before the volcano that we should grab a bite in between and that lunch would not be until 3 pm. Frankie was a great tour guide. He was very personable and informative.
Everything was fabulous!! Our Pompeii tour guide, Frankie, was so lovely and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the whole morning with him. Our driver, Toni was very sweet and made us feel safe and helped everything run smoothly and on time. The wine tour was brief (which was perfect after a long day of touring). It was so beautiful and the food was delicious!!
We loved Frankie, our tour guide in Pompeii. Pompeii was so interesting! The hike to Mt Vesuvius is quite a hike but a great accomplishment. The winery lunch was delicious. A little bit more traveling then what was expected and we felt badly for coming into the winery all dirty after our hike on the volcano.
Fun experience hiking Mt Vesuvius and then touring Pompeii with Frankie. He was very informative and kept the tour lively and fun. And he always stopped the group in the shade!
My friend and I did this experience in April and definitely recommend it! The pickup service was punctual and picked us up a 30 second walk from where we were staying. All the drivers were fantastic! The Pompeii tour was amazing. It’s such a big area to cover in such a short amount of time, we both felt that our guide did a great job in showing us the highlights. He was very personable and definitely knew his stuff. We were driven to Vesuvius after Pompeii and given more than enough time to hike up, enjoy the views and wine from a little vendor (the wine was questionable but who can turn down wine on a volcano?!), and make it back down. We are pretty quick but noticed everyone in our group had enough time and the driver made sure we all made it. Last was our wine tasting and lunch. It was extremely cute! The wine’s were quite good, especially after walking and hiking all morning, and the lunch was delicious. It was a small group of us, my friend and I as well as two other couples, and we found the size to be perfect. Not to mention the others with us were great company!
Excellent experience, great tour. We've been to Pompeii before(20 yrs ago) and learned so much more this time! SASA is a great guide@
Absolutely Perfect ! Highly recommed whole day Tour ! Our guide Francesco was the best ! After 3 hrs of walking Pompeii , i was driven to Vesuvius i went hiking for abour 45 min only because it was cold and i didnt have appropriate warm attire . Since i was the only one whO had opted for the day tour this was possible .They acutally give you more time for hiking .Then went for wine tasting with lunch and the views from the winery are overlooking the gulf of Serrento i hope i spelt it correctly. The whole day was amazing ! Please dont miss this experience ! Cant wait to return !
Great experience overall! On-time pickup from Positano and nice transportation. If you aren’t aware, keep in mind the drive is very windy but great views along the coast. Pompeii was given life with Sasa’s tour guidance. Wish we had more time to tour or wander on our own some but knew we could only see so much in 2 hours. Visiting Vesuvius was worth it but be aware it’s a nice grade the whole way up on lava rock/gravel so prepare accordingly. May not be physically for everyone. Our day happened to be SUPER windy and it was definitely cold at the top but glad we did it. The views from up there are unreal. The wine tasting was a beautiful experience. Lovely venue, food and wine. We are used to wine tasting in the states where everything ends in a sales pitch but they didn’t do that here—although we would’ve bought a bottle to have later that evening. Overall, a wonderful day. Nice sized group (10 ant Pompeii, 6 after) although I suspect that was mostly due to us visiting in off season which still meant a lot of people at Pompeii and Vesuvius but not crowded. I’d recommend this tour.
We had a great tour of the Ruins of Pompeii with Sasa. He showed us the highlights of this impressive place. We then got dropped off to hike to the rim of the crater of Vesuvius with great views. We finished with an excellent lunch and wine tasting at Casa Setaro. Overall an excellent day!
My family of 4 and I had a fantastic time! Our excursion to Pompeii and the winery could not have been any easier. The company did a great job at taking care of everything for us. We had great drivers to and from our hotel and the drop off points. We had an absolutely amazing tour guide in Pompeii (Sasa) and a wonderful wine tasting & lunch experience at the winery. Unfortunately, there was heavy rainfall during our excursion and Vesuvius was closed for safety reasons so we didn’t get to climb it, but the company was proactive and gave us a partial reimbursement without having to jump through any hoops to get our money back. 10 out of 10 experience, would recommend this trip to everybody!
The history of Pompeii was fascinating and Frankie our tour guard did a great job bringing it to life with brilliant story telling. The hike to the top Mt. Vesuvius offered wonderful views. But the climb was challenging in 104F weather and very little shade. It was nice to enjoy a cold drink while taking in the views at the top of the mountain. The vineyard was quaint and lunch was delicious, especially after long hours of walking and hiking. Glad we did this tour!
Francesco our guide at Pompeii was awesome. Had excellent knowledge and kept us all engaged with hilarious comments and infectious laughter. The Vesuvius walk was challenging but worth the effort. Cold beers available on site were refreshing! A great full day outing.
The trip was amazing!! We learned so much from Fredricko. Learning about the Romans and how much we have now is the same as it was in the past. We made it to the top to see the volcano.
Francesco (our guide for Pompeii) was absolutely amazing! Made us feel so welcomed and safe. He was very knowledgeable, funny and such a fun person to have this experience with. He pointed out so many things we would have never noticed or knew to look for and is an amazing story teller. Would not have wanted to this experience with anyone else.
Amazing tour. Well worth the money Friendly drivers, knowledgeable guided. Minimal standing and waiting times. Pompei and Vessuvoous amazing sites. Wine and food good. A long day but highly recommend. Made crowded places stress free. Frankie a supoguid at Pompei!
Had the BEST time on this tour. We had a private transfer to Pompeii from our hotel in Amalfi. We then went as a group to Vesuvius. We hiked up the volcano on our own (this part was not guided). We had just missed the rain and the views were spectacular. You can see all of Naples and even Capri in the distance, and of course, the crater of Vesuvius. We were then driven to Pompeii. Our guide, Francesco, was HILARIOUS. He is, hands down, the best tour guide we’ve ever had (and we’ve gone on many tours before). He was entertaining and informative. We were all in awe the entire time, and I’m sure I can say on behalf of our group that Francesco was a fantastic guide and made our tour of Pompeii just that much more fascinating. We wish we could have Francesco as a private guide for the rest of our stay in Amalfi. Would 10/10 recommend!!
Pompeii was amazing. The history. Our guide Roberta was fabulous. Mt Versuvio views were breathtaking. Ending the day with a meal and wine tasting was excellent. Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Amalfi was top-notch. Celeste and Carmine did us good. We used Carmine again to take us back to Naples when we were ending our Italy stay. He was on time and made the drive comfortable for us. Even took us back to hotel after we realized my husband left his phone! What a gentleman.
What an amazing day! Carmine picked us up promptly in a very cold mini van (perfect for the heat). We were then met by our tour guide Sasa - Wow, what an amazing guide!!!! He was very knowledgeable and very funny and engaging. The two hours flew by. We then went to lunch and wine tasting. So yummy! Lots of wine and amazing food. Carmine then drove us to Mt Vesuvius where we walked up/down ourselves (approx. 1 hour). Definitely recommend this tour!
Great experience of getting picked up in Amalfi taken to Pompei for a tour of the city, a walk up to Mt Vesuvius, followed by a wine tasking and lunch at an amazing local vineyard! Also taken back to Amalfi after the wine tasting! Would highly recommend this tour company! Very efficient and looked after us so well ☺️ Thank you!
The tour was well organized, the Pompeii tour was perfect at two hours. We had a very knowledgeable guide who kept us away from the crowds, while making sure we saw important things. The volcano hike was nice with ample time. The lunch and wine tasting were lovely. It was a great day and I would recommend it. A few logistical comments…it had not been clear to us that it was not a private tour, so just be aware that you will be grouped with up to 10 people, including at the lunch, but everyone on our tour was a lot of fun and it was not an issue. Also, be aware that your pick up in the morning to take you to Pompeii may not be a minivan. Even though they say it is a minivan, they might pick you up in a sedan. For our family of very tall adults that was unexpected and a bit crowded during our hour+ drive. The transfer from Pompeii to the volcano, and the return home were via a minivan shared with other people.
Sasa our guide at Pompeii was excellent. The Vineyard experience was excellent. Limited time at Mount Vesuvius. Transportation drivers were just average. Overall, however, I would recommend the tour.
This is a great tour of Pompeii! Our guide Sasa has vast knowledge of the history of Pompeii, he helped us navigate the ruins in a smart way, keeping us in the shade, away from the crowds when possible, and showing us the most amazing highlights of the ruins. 100% recommended!
Well organised picked up from hotel, meet up with our group to climb Vesuvius allowed plenty of time to complete this. Off to Pompeii met our excellent well informed guide lots of time exploring the sites. Day finished at a vineyard lovely meal then safely back home via mini bus
What an awesome experience! We were picked up at our hotel in Positano by Amanuelo and drove to Mt. Vesuvius. We had two hours to hike up to the top in the morning, which was perfect because we were back down before the weather was too warm for the day. The views from the top were absolutely amazing. Next, we visited the Cantina del Vesuvio at the base of the mountain for a quick tour, lunch and tasting. This was short, but a nice way to break up the day. We ended the day with a tour of the ancient city of Pompeii with Sasa. Sasa is a third generation Pompeiien tour guide and it shows. He knows Pompeii inside and out so we were able to see so much in such a short period of time. Plus, the stories he told were fascinating - you really got to envision what life was like during that time. After that we were dropped off right back at our hotel. This was a long day, but absolutely worth it. We would have spent so much time planning logistics and missed so much context without the pre-planned tour.
This whole tour was great! My mum and I were picked up in a private car and driven to Pompeii from our hotel in Minori. This was so relaxing as the driver was very smooth and made the whole day so much easier by getting picked up from our hotel. Once we arrived at Pompeii we met our tour guide Sasa and the other two people on our tour with us. Going in January was perfect because there were no crowds. I could not recommend Sasa for a tour guide enough! He was so incredibly knowledgeable about Pompeii and is really passionate about its history which makes the whole experience much more interesting. He told us that he creates the tour itinerary bespoke for each group and that day so they can get the most out of their visit. After Pompeii we were then driven up to Mount Vesuvius. We were warned before that it might be closed due to the bad weather and risk of landslides, but they offered to take us up to the car park anyway so we could see the view. That was great as the views are amazing, even from the car park! Then we went to the lunch and wine tasting. The vineyard is family owned and more than just the wine was grown on the vineyard. They had make the olive oil, pasta, grown the tomatoes for the pasta sauce and so much more! They wine was great too! All in all it was a great experience!!! Thank you!
This was one of my favorite tours I have taken! I learned so much about Pompeii and our guide Sasa was phenomenal. The wine tasting was also amazing and so beautiful!
Our tour guide Sasa was incredible. Very knowledgeable, very dedicated to the history of Pompeii. The Van service was door to door. Picked us up in the morning, took us to each of the locations, then took us home at the end of the day. We generally do not like tours with groups but this was a small group and once we arrived at Pompeii they made it even smaller (10 people). This really was a well organized, well thought out, and well executed tour. I highly recommend!!!!
Very mixed review--I am not unhappy that we saw what we saw but a lot of the day was driving, it was very disjointed, and I felt like we lost out on a lot of what we should have seen at Pompeii. The main reason we booked this tour was to see pompeii and get a good tour with an expert. I had been to Pompeii once before 11 years ago but didn't get a tour. I feel like I got way more out of it then compared to now. We spent just barely 2 hours inside of Pompeii with the guide. It sounds like enough but we saw and talked about maybe 5 things. Our guides Sasa was pretty repetitive so I felt like I wasn't gaining a lot of information with each additional stop. He also did not talk as he walked so we would walk for 5 or 10 minutes, passing a lot, then stop and talk for 5 minutes. He also included a lot of unnecessary commentary on himself and his family saying how they were definitely from Pompeii and talking about the heights of each of the generations. Some normal color is totally expected on a tour but it felt like at least 20% of the discussion. Additionally, while he took us to some cool, less crowded areas, it seemed like he was guiding us on the easiest area possible rather than the areas with the most interesting items. We needed at least another hour and to do more of the central things in pompeii and definitely more commentary throughout. Lastly, he said at least 10 times what a great deal we were getting with this combo tour (spending a lot of time he could have been talking about pompeii talking about this instead) which is fine but was very isolating to the 2 women who were not a part of that combo. If I were to tour pompeii again I would not do it with this company (enjoy pompeii) and definitely not with Sasa. The Mt Vesuvius hike was also similarly rushed. It actually took almost an hour to drive there despite being close in mileage and they only gave us about an hour to go up and back. They said this is because it takes 20 min to walk to the top but there is no way in h*** you can do that in 20 minutes. We were rushing, going as fast as we could, and did it in about 30 minutes. To do this we could not really stop at any of the vistas along the way to enjoy the view. We tried to do the top in 5 minutes but could have easily spent 30 minutes walking around the crater. There was also a little cafe up there that would have been great to enjoy if we could. After 5 or so minutes we had to leave to make it to the car in time and it was again very difficult because the grounds are not well kept so we were sliding with almost every step. I fell and cut my leg pretty badly within the first few steps down the mountain. With pretty much no railings, we barely made it back down the mountain to the parking lot in 30 minutes not even stopping to do more than spray water on my leg. They offered no assistance once we got back to the car and I had to clean it up with tissues and water I had onhand. The best part of the day was the winery. It is at the base of the volcano and just stunning. Great wines. Fantastic lunch. Cute tour. The only negative was that the way the tour was arranged we were picked up at 8am and didn't get to eat lunch until 3pm. This was so late and we were all starving. At each of these places it would have been great to have another hour to relax and take it in rather than being pushed to the next place. We didn't have someone who was with us the whole day as well so it was just disjointed and we had no idea what was happening from one moment to another. I would tour pompeii and do the winery again but would definitely cut the mountain. And I would not use this company.
The day began by 7:30 ,super driver emanuel was really expert and friendly, the walk in pompei with the guide Mamà was simply amazing, the hike up to vesuvius was really exciting, very good lunch and wines upper class spots, really recommended
Fantastic trip. Really well organised. Driver was great and tour guide Mel was brilliant! Food and wine tasting was so good.
Kudos to Sasa. He was great in explaining life and history of Pompeii plus he was excellent in navigating our small group to avoid large crowds and show us the points of interest that are most meaningful at Pompeii. It was very pleasant and easy to understand. The tour to the top of Mount was informational and the JLT recommended for those in good physical condition due to the bill climbing. Our favorite part was the wine tasting at the Medici winery. The wines were amazing, the atmosphere was romantic and we got a tour of the winery in a golf cart. It was a bonus to see some of their resources. We highly recommend this tour.
I've been on a LOT of tours and this was hands down the best yet and worth every penny. Started with a nice air conditioned comfortable ride to Pompeii. Pompeii is mind blowing!!! I won't spoil, but it's a must see. Next was up to Vesuvius - you hike to the top. Wear comfortable shoes! There are 3-4 little bars/rest stops on the way up. We only had an hour there and it took about 30 minutes to walk to the top so I recommend get to the top as fast as possible then stop at the bars coming down if you have extra time. It was beautiful!!!!! After Vesuvius we did the wine tasting with lunch. The tour was quick and informative and lunch was quick as well. Delicious and simple and they had vegetarian options if you need that. Wine was delicious! Then a nice ride back to Amalfi. Our driver Giovanni is a local and was amazing. Highly recommend this tour if you want to maximize several experiences into one day! If you want a 2 hour lunch, or if you don't like walking, this might not be for you. We went end of July and wore hats and brought water. It is hot in Pompeii but we got there early (9am) which missed most of the crowds. Our guide brought us to the interesting spots first and it was perfect. Thank you!!!!
What a day!! Do this, really. Melania is a great guide, very knowledgeable and easygoing and proud to be from pompeii( i get you :-)) our driver was amazing, good and attentive. Vesuvius, be prepared, bring an umbrella, lots of water. It is something in the heat. BUT, just do it :-) the winery!!! What a great place. Good food and the owner is a sweetheart.
Melania was absolutely fantastic! Had the most information on Pompei and was close to the Archaeologists. It was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend to have her as your Pompei tour guide. Also, don't be fooled, there is a hike at Mt. Vesuvio when going to the winery and the volcano. Please dress appropriately. It's very steep!
Highly recommend doing this tour! The guided tour of Pompei offered good insight and knowledge of the history of the town. The walk up Mount Vesuvius is a little taxing (takes about 40 minutes) but is well worth it once you get to the top for the views! And the wine tasting and lunch really topped off a great day, is well worth the money
