We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to ensure a smooth start to your adventure.
Step back in time at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most evocative places on Earth. Frozen in time by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD, this vast site offers a unique window into ancient Roman life. Walk through remarkably preserved streets, explore opulent villas adorned with vibrant frescoes, and marvel at the majestic temples and theaters that once formed the heart of this thriving city.
Enter the city through Porta Marina, the most monumental of Pompeii’s seven gates. Walk in through this ancient gateway, originally designed for travelers arriving from the sea, and explore with your guide the impressive double-arch structure that separated pedestrians from carriages. As you pass through these massive stone walls, you’ll immediately feel the grandeur of the Roman Empire welcoming you into the streets of the past.
Step into the Forum, the monumental heart of ancient Pompeii. Explore with your guide the remains of the city's grandest temples and public buildings that once buzzed with political and commercial life. Walk in the footsteps of Roman citizens across this expansive square, where you can admire the iconic silhouette of Mt. Vesuvius looming in the distance—the perfect spot to capture the essence of this frozen city.
The Macellum of Pompeii was located on the Forum and as the provision market of Pompeii was one of the focal points of the ancient city. The building was constructed in several phases. When the earthquake of 62 CE destroyed large parts of Pompeii, the Macellum was also damaged.
The Forum Baths are located behind the Temple of Jupiter and date back to the years immediately after the founding of the colony of veterans by General Silla (80 BC). Women's and men's quarters had separate entrances. The men's section presents an apodyterium (dressing room), used also as a tepidarium (for medium temperature baths), frigidarium (for cold baths) and calidarium (for hot baths). Like many buildings in Pompeii, the baths were heavily damaged during the earthquake of 62 AD.
Dominated by the Vesuvius with its statues of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, the temple was the Capitolium, similar to the one located in the Ancient Rome. The statues were highly placed to be visible to those passing in the Forum.
The Lupanar of Pompeii is the most famous brothel in the ruined Roman city of Pompeii. It is of particular interest for the erotic paintings on its walls. Lupanar is Latin for "brothel". The Pompeii lupanar is also known as Lupanare Grande.
The House of the Faun (Casa del Fauno) is one of the largest and most luxurious private residences in Pompeii, occupying an entire city block. Named after the iconic bronze statue of a dancing faun found in its main atrium, the house is a masterpiece of Roman architecture and Hellenistic influence. It is most famous for housing the magnificent Alexander Mosaic, which depicts the battle between Alexander the Great and Darius III of Persia. With its two peristyle gardens and intricate floor mosaics, it remains a powerful symbol of the immense wealth and sophisticated taste of the city's elite.
Via dell’Abbondanza was the ancient main street (decumanus maximus) of ancient Pompeii, which ran across the city in the direction east/west from the Forum to the Porta Sarno. In ancient times the street was crowded and noisy with many shops, workshops ("officinae”), cafes, snack-bars and restaurants for food and drink.
The Basilica, with its extension of 1,500 square meters, was the most sumptuous building of the Forum, and its space was used to carry out business and for the administration of justice.
The Large Theater of Pompeii was built from the Romans on the slope of a hill located in the area; they took advantage of the natural depression of the mountain to create a majesty auditorium divided into 5 sectors. On the stage were played tragedies of the Greco-Roman traditions.
A you exit from the Archeological Park of Pompeii, enjoy free time for lunch between your explorations. Whether you choose to grab a quick traditional snack or sit down at a local restaurant. This is the perfect moment to relax and recharge before we head toward the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius.
Reach the crater's edge at 1.280 mt to admire a breathtaking panorama on the Gulf of Naples. The surface of the path is uneven, but it' ll be well worth it. Following the devastating eruption, it was named after the Roman God of the Flame and Metal Forgery – Vulcan
Walk in the clouds as you reach the summit and explore with your guide the rim of the great crater. From this incredible vantage point, you will be rewarded with a world-class view overlooking the Bay of Naples. Marvel at the breathtaking panorama of the sparkling Mediterranean, the city below, and the distant islands of Capri and Ischia, all from the top of Europe’s most famous volcano.
After an unforgettable day of history and heights, settle into your comfortable coach for the return trip to Sorrento. Explore with your guide the final highlights of the journey as you descend the volcanic slopes, enjoying one last view overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is the perfect time to unwind, review your photos, and relax as we bring you back to your original departure point.

The tour was great. It did take a long time to get back to Sorrento due to traffic. But it was anyone’s fault.
Amazing tour! We did the 7:30 am and I highly recommend this time. It takes about an hour to get there (if traffic isn’t bad) and the crowds get thick as the day goes on. First stop at the Zeus Cafe allowed time to use the restrooms and have a quick coffee or snack. On the ride back, we ran into very heavy traffic, and, apparently, this happens on Sundays. Just mentioning it here because the tour is listed as “half day, 7:30-11:30”. We left Pompeii at 11:45 and didn’t get back to Sorrento until 2:15. Good to know just in case you’re making afternoon plans- be flexible. We really enjoyed the Pompeii tour and the beautiful scenery on the coastline drive back.
From the easy meeting point to the knowledgeable and passionate guides, the day was fabulous. Our guide Nello spoke clearly and gave great insight and instructions. The driver, Raphael (?) was expert in the driving manoeuvres required for driving narrow streets My only complaint was the payment process through trip advisor - the google search came up with the tour that cost €98 per person but when it came to payment I didn’t appear to have the option to choose which card to use and payment came out of card i had used previously and in different currency! Payment came out as GBP which converted to AUD in my Australian bank account. Very strange. And when I worked out the cost difference it was almost AUD$80 more. I’m unhappy with that TripAdvisor
The tour was very organized. It started on time and we got priority access at both Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvias. The guide at Vesuvias, Roberta, was great. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to understand. It was a fun day.
The actual guide at Pompeii, Patricia, was phenomenal. We weren't able to go to Vesuvius due to the protests and road closures, and had to take the train back to Sorrento. I'd recommend finding a guided tour without the transportation and just take the train. Much more efficient
Weather alert said thunderstorm and I wasn't sure whether to still go but it turned out so much better because of the lack of people. I have brilliant pics with no people whatsoever in them! All 3 tour guides were good. I'd prefer a little more time to take pics as a bit of a rush to keep up. I'd recommend going.
Amazing day and experience we will not forget. Great organisation from the start, never had to worry what we were doing. The guide for Pompeii was very knowledgeable and to get us to visualise what life would have been like.
The tour to Pompeii and Vesuvius was great, beautiful views and the historic behind. The tour guides Daniela and Vincenzo were great, friendly and knowledgeable. It was worth it.
The experience was excellent and the tour guides Daniela and Vicenzo were amazing, friendly, and very knowledgeable.
So much to see, great tour. Lulu knew so much. The visit to Mt Vesuvius cancelled due to weather, but the took us to Herculeum to make up for it.
An excellent overall tour. Starting early was a great choice as we beat many of the crowds as our guide told us there are about 15,000 people that visit every day. We did the full day excursion but unfortunately because of the extreme rainy weather Mount V was closed. Instead we could choose to take a train back to Sorrento or visit the Herculaneum ruins. We decided to stay and very happy we did. Both excursions were fantastic. LouLou our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, had a good sense of humour and genuinely cared for everyone in the group. We highly recommend this tour.
Pompei was awesome, even in the rain! Weather prevented the tour to Vesuvius but our leader LuLu made a great pivot to go to Herculaneum which was even better than Pompei! Great job by LuLu
Excellent tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Our tour guide Lulu was absolutely amazing! I was excited to see Pompeii and climb the volcano already, but she made it just so much more enjoyable. You can really tell she is passionate about Pompeii and makes sure to fill the limited time you have exploring Pompeii in a way that is worthwhile and exciting. Learned so much from her. She was so kind and very friendly. Found a way to educate about Pompeii in a way that was fun and engaging. hands down my favourite tour of the 2 weeks I stayed in Italy. Loved every second of it!
Can't imagine what people thought at the moment they were buried alive. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very charismatic
This was an excellent way to visit Pompeii and climb Vesuvius from Sorrento for 2 reasons: the professional guided tour of Pompeii by Margherita and the seamless logistics overseen by Max. Years ago I would have probably tried to do all this myself and the experience would have been much much worse and I wouldn’t have saved much. Transport was via 29-seat coach. Not particularly luxurious and a little cramped but OK. We were issued with radio receivers and earpieces, which meant that we could easily hear our guides, which was particularly useful in Pompeii. The 0730 start from Sorrento meant that we were into Pompeii early and before the crowds showed up. They admit 20,000 visitors per day and that still-intact bathhouse gets a little cramped later! We were guided efficiently around the main points of interest before it filled up. Toilet and refreshment stops were taken care of along the way. The hike up and around Vesuvius took a little under 2 hours and was worth it for the views. It was self guided but that was absolutely fine - up the path, round the crater and back down again. It was a very full day but enjoyable and much recommended. A few tips: - Bring water and, if you are on a tight budget, food. - There are not that many toilet stops so go easy on the coffee at breakfast. - If the sun is shining you will definitely need sun lotion and a hat - there is almost no shade on Vesuvius. - The toilets on Vesuvius are not great and the paper and hand washing supplies were non-existent so you may want to bring your own.
I’ve always wanted to see Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius and this trip provided an up close viewing of both. Pompeii was great, but it would’ve been much better if our group size wasn’t so large (apx 40 people). Still, the city of Pompeii was nothing less than fascinating! Mount Vesuvius was also grand, and the views from the top were spectacular. Highly recommend this tour!
Easy to book, easy to understand instructions, easy pickup. Great coach guide, Nello. Great guide inside Pompeii, Vincenzo. He took us back in time. The walk up the Volcano was invigorating and the views at the top spectacular. We even got to see some smoke.
Great experience. It's amazing how vast the ruins are and the fact it hasn't been fully uncovered. This tour was worth the investment
Daniella was excellent ….great organizer! Our Pompeii guide , Patrice (sp???) was excellent
Good guides, entertaining and educational. The company Iamme Ia! Should invest in stronger radio technology for larger groups. It was easy to lose the signal at short distance even without obstructions. The lunch provided (at €18), I recommend a hard pass. BYO, or go à la carte for lunch. The driver had impressive skills!
Amazing day, our tour guide Danielle was informative and helpful. You get to Pompeii nice and early. The walk up the volcano is steep and long! Would book with them if I was going again. Definitely need skip the queue tickets.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about Pompeii, and the hosts were fantastic. Very fun day. Glad we did it at the end of September, because it got hot.
Absolutely superb tour of Pompeii with Lulu. She was very efficient abd organised the time well. Also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic which was infectious. I now want to learn more about the history. Thank you Lulu for making it a perfect day.
Long day, lots of walking on un even surfaces. Very informative. Friendly guides, well organised. Value for money
My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. The meet up spot in Sorrento was very convenient and easy to find. Nello, our guide on the bus was very entertaining. When we arrived at Pompeii we were met by another guide (unfortunately didn't catch her name) who was incredibly knowledgeable and did a great job of showing us the important sites while avoiding the crowds. After the Pompeii tour we took advantage of the lunch offered at the on-site restaurant (18 euros/person) which was very tasty and convenient. The bus then took us to Mt. Vesuvius where we had plenty of time to climb to the top at a leisurely pace. The day ended with the bus taking us back to the meet up spot in Sorrento. A great day.
Pompeii was amazing. It is a huge site and Lou-Lou was fabulous and got us through most of the site in the nice and not too hot weather. Vesuvius was fabulous but not for people who can’t walk up steep mountain at elevation! But WE DID IT! Woohoo!!! Our driver Apollolino was amazing on the crazy narrow roads!
A great excursion, just be warned that it is quite a trek to the top of the volcano !………………………………………
We recommend you read the itinerary carefully we assumed we would see the Garden of Familia however many tours fo not go there due to location and time constraints. That said the tour was well run and our guide Nello was very upbeat, provided verybdetailed information and instructiions and kept the group on time. We had a fabulous and informative day. Thankyou 😍
Overall the trip was good. Nello our guide was excellent and kept us entertained throughout the day. His organisation was excellent and the information he shared about the day and the different locations was very informative. Pompaii was interesting and we got there quite early to miss the crowds which had built up by the time we were leaving after 2 hours. My favourite bit was the visit and climb up to Vesuvius - the location and the view of The Bay of Naples is breathtaking. It is about a 20 - 30 minute hike up to the crater so those with difficulty walking may struggle. The day is roughly broken down to 1hr bus ride - 2hr tour of Pompaii - 1hr lunch at Pompaii - 30 mins bus to Vesuvius - 90 mins at Vesuvius - 75 mins bus ride back to Sorrento.
It was great not having to think once we got to the meeting spot, everything was taken care of. My only complaint is that the Pompeii tour group was way too big… we were in a group of over 30 people with one guide. This caused a lot of waiting for members of the group to catch up and we had to move very slowly through the ruins because of this. Had I known the tour group was going to be so big, I likely wouldn’t have booked this. Our time in Pompeii was under 2 hours which wasn't ideal. However, our tour guide, Max was great! And I still would absolutely recommend the service!
Important to go early before it gets really hot. Take hat, sunglasses and possibly shade umbrella for Pompei. The walk up Vesuvius is steep but manageable and a good activity for those who aren’t so interested in Pompei. So everyone gets something fun to do.
Well organised tour from start to finish and highly recommend. Nello was our guide and Louigi was our driver. Hiking poles for Mt Vesuvius would be handy as its 2klm mainly uphill (but worth it).
We had an amazing day viewing the ruins of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius our guide Nello did an excellent job. He was very friendly and very funny, taking us through the day to have a great outing. We would recommend it to others.
A great trip. Met at theeur office at tazzo square. There were a few different groups and trips but we were efficiently guided to our correct group. Given our headsets and tested them. Then walked 4 mins to the bus station as it's a big coach and too big for the square. The guide was good at Pompeii. Take good walking footwear as Pompeii has lots of uneven ground, I just wore trainers though. Then 1 hour free time for food. They arrange with a local eatery and area for the trip so for 18 euro we have a reserved seat with a set menu with a choice of mains and a scoop of ice cream and a soft drink rather than wander about town looking for somewhere. The pizza choice was massive for 1 person. Back to the air con bus and 3/4 the way up versivus then it's a steep slope up a pummice gravel path to the crater rim. Warning, there is only 1 bench on the path if you need to sit, unless you make it to the 3 shops near the top which have some seating, or rather a wall to sit on. You get just enough time to walk up have a look and walk down. It can be slippery on the loose pummice if you are in a rush to get down, it took 15 mins to get down. Really glad I did it. One reason I chose this trip was that it did the very hot Pompeii first in the morning and the vesuvius in the hotter afternoon as it's cooler up there. Some trips do it the other way around.
Full on day. Nelson was a great guide - knowledgeable but fun too. Made the day very enjoyable. Saw the highlight of Pompei - tine for lunch and then onto Vesuvius. Time for a walk up to the crater and some refreshments at the top. The driver for the day Luigi was amazing - how he navigated the bends I will never know!
Lucio was fantastic throughout the day. He kept things so engaging. I would thoroughly recommend
Margarete was full of knowledge and a great guide. Do the experience early as it’s super busy. The pizza was almost as amazing as Pompeii. You must try that as well.
Excellent time. A real learning experience. The guides were wonderful
Long day but worth it. Mimi was an excellent guide. Very enjoyable time. Wear a good pair of comfortable shoes
Nello was great! Our bus driver Luigi was great and got us around safely! Our site guide Patricia was also great! Highly recommend!
The trip was excellent in particular the guided tour of Pompeii which was really well run and gave a fantastic insight into life in Pompeii. And we loved the hike to the top of Mount Vesuvius. It’s a very challenging hike but worth it.
Great day of exploring Pompeii such a vast site and information given was great x Mount Vesuvius was amazing, great hike up, can be quite challenging but views are worth the visit
Wonderful full day tour of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Pompeii was incredible - the tour guide knew exactly where to take us and explained the history and interesting facts. Vesuvius was a hard climb - very steep incline, but you can stop at various stages to rest. Takes about 35 mins to reach the top if you’re not used to hiking and need some rest along the way. Certainly worth doing.
It was fabulously organized from start to finish by our overall guide Dani! She was so pleasant and informative. She was clear with pick up and drop off locations etc. She then had our small group of four go with another guide for the Pompeii part of the tour. His name was Mimi and he was a wealth of knowledge with a great sense of humor. He kept my husband interested and that says a lot! Kudos to The tour group as they thought of everything including a wonderful lunch set up to keep us on track. Highly recommend Mia Me tours for the full day excursion from Sorrento to Pompeii! The bus driver was confident and wonderful as well despite scary hills and turns.🫣🇮🇹
Pompeii was very interesting, and the tour guide around the site was very good, but the group was slightly too large, so at times you couldn't hear her as the signal cut out. Daniella who was on the coach to and from both Pompeii and Vesuvious gave us lots of interesting local information and facts. Mt. Vesuvious was amazing at the top, however, it a a little bit of a trek up a steep slope. It took me around 30 mins to get to the summit (admittedly I am not the fittest).
NELLO is an amazing guide and our driver (Luciano) was equally amazing with his driving skills and focus on safety. Our tour guide (Monica) at the Pompeii ruins was also very knowledgeable and excellent! All were professional and organized. Would definitely recommend them all.
Max was an entertaining, informative and friendly host who was careful to prioritise the wellbeing of his party. The bus driver was extremely skilled at negotiating the tricky hairpins up to Vesuvius. Luigi was a charismatic character who kept us well informed and gave us a great tour of a unique environment.
It’s a full on day but very good. Our guide Luisa was excellent and it was such fun. Pompeii was way better than I expected and I’d have maybe liked even a bit longer to explore. Lunch at Euro 18 for a pizza (delicious), a soft drink and scoop of ice cream was good value also.
