We had an amazing experience on this full-day tour! The hotel pickup was incredibly convenient, making the entire day stress-free from the start. Our guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Our bus driver was also excellent, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey throughout the day. One of the unexpected highlights was enjoying lunch in a beautiful olive grove. The peaceful surroundings and stunning scenery made it such a memorable and unique experience. It was the perfect way to relax and take in the beauty of the region. Overall, this tour offered fantastic value for money and was a wonderful way to explore the rich history and natural beauty of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Itinerary
The ruins of Pompeii are a vast archaeological site in the southern Campania region, near the coast of the Gulf of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The preserved site features remain of excavated streets and houses that visitors can freely explore.
The Civil Forum represents the center of the daily life of the city, all the main public buildings for the administration of the city and justice, for the management of business, for commercial activities, such as markets, overlook it, in addition to the main places of city worship.
The Temple of Jupiter dominates the northern side of the Forum. With the three cult statues of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, which imitated those of the Capitolium in Rome, placed on a high base, so as to make them visible to those passing through the Forum square.
Via dell'Abbondanza is one of the main streets of the ancient city of Pompeii, in Campania, which connected the Forum with the Amphitheatre.
The Macellum consists of a tuff Quadri-porticus with a hall for worship in an elevated position on the eastern side, in line with the entrance. The Macellum of Pompeii was nothing more than the city market where people could buy food.
The brothel of Pompeii, with its erotic paintings. The prostitutes in the brothel were mostly Greek and Oriental slaves.
The Stabian Baths are an ancient Roman bathing complex in Pompeii, Italy, the oldest and the largest of the five public baths in the city.
In the Large Theatre they represented comedies and tragedies of Greek-Roman tradition. The theatre was the first large public building completely freed from the deposits of the eruption.
Typical light lunch at a typical local restaurant
Visit the majestic Mount Vesuvius and immerse yourself in a world of vibrant colors while admiring the entire Gulf of Naples. The path to the top may be uneven and challenging at times, but every step will be rewarded with breathtaking views and the thrill of standing on one of the world’s most iconic volcanoes. After its devastating eruption, the volcano was named after Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and metal, forever linking its dramatic history to ancient mythology.

Great tour. We really enjoyed it. We got lucky and had a great driver who we really enjoyed. He was spot on from being on time standpoint, getting us the right places. Mount Vesuvius was fun. It was a nice climb, great view, but not just of the crater, but the surrounding area from a 360° standpoint. It was it was very nice. The climb was not tough. We were then taken to a wonderful lunch and wine tasting, which was just outstanding. After the lunch and wine tasting, we went to Pompeii, which was as expected. We saw the ruins. We had a lot of explanation about how the ancient Romans lived, what the houses looked like. It was pretty well preserved. We enjoyed it. Our guide, we didn’t get as lucky with the guide as we did with the driver. The guide was adequate, but a little hard to understand.
I travelled with a group of friends. The communications following booking were great - via Email and WhatsApp. Pick up was exactly on time and the mini-bus was clean and had aircon throughout. The guides were friendly. We had Roberta take us around Pompeii - she was informative and funny. Worth having a guide as we got to see inside a house and little tips about life in Pompeii that I think we would have missed. The lunch was lovely - at a local from that makes wine and olive oil. All locally grown produce. Then the trip to Vesuvius - it was a beautiful view and although the walk is a little hard work it was worth it. All in all we had a great day!
Fantastic, knowledgeable guides, great food and wine, and the views from Vesuvio were magnificent. Definitely wear some comfortable shoes!
A very worthy trip to see Pompeii and the tour guide provided lots of knowledge and history. The lunch stop and limoncello surprise was great and refreshing. Mt. Vesuvius was breathtaking and adequate time was provided to explore. Tour guide and driver did a great job getting us to and from places safely. Definitely recommend!
Great experience, guide was wonderful and knowledgeable.
Excellent tour with great value for money! Hotel pick up was very convenient. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Bus driver was excellent. The limoncello tasting at Terre Vesuviane was definitely an unexpected highlight. This is a great full day tour that I highly recommend for anyone interested in the history of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.
This tour Pompeii was a ton of fun for me and my wife. We had an amazing time visiting the ruins and the mountain itself. Our guide was very kind and helpful and made the whole learning experience a great time. The only thing that my wife and I had a slight issue with was the winery tour. It was a nice winery in itself, but what was lacking was the food amount for lunch. We had been walking around all time and had quite an appetite by lunch. We were expecting a bigger lunch, but all we got was a few pieces of bread with toppings, some pasta, and a slice of cake. It didn’t seem like much so we were left a little hungry. The overall experience was amazing, but it would have the five star review if next time we were able to get more food from the winery.
We had so much fun over the day. Lunch was delicious. Our tour guys were all so friendly and educational. We had a wonderful time.
There is a lot to see at Pompeii but it is over crowded with to many tour groups at once and there is no directional flow. Everyone is walking into each other
The tour was well coordinated and allowed enough time to explore both sites. The vineyard for lunch is a huge plus!
The guide Giussy M and driver Francesco were great. The lunch was even better then expected and the guide at the Pompeii ruins really knew his stuff.
This experience was top notch! We did so much from getting a great tour of the Pompeii ruins with a very knowledgeable guide, to a wonderful lunch and wine tasting and great climb of mt Vesuvius. Would highly recommended!
It is a complete experience and actually, it offers a bit more with the extra trials of food and drink. I only suggest having 2 meeting points in Sorrento and maybe an icebreaker or activity to meet the participants, especially for solo travelers.
Cannot say enough about Rosa! Her assistance with my many questions and requests helped make our trip so memorable. Our tour of Pompeii started with a private pickup at our villa in Praiano. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and patient, as some of our family members wondered off. Our tour and lunch at Le Cantine del Vesuvio was delicious and fun filled. Great time had by all. We ended the day with a hike to the rim of Mt. Vesuvius. Spectacular views! Our driver for the day, Fernando (Nando), was absolutely amazing! He was very friendly, extremely helpful and always professional. Never did we feel like just a customer with him, he was one of us. Please pass along our gratitude to him. I will definitely recommend your services to anyone traveling to Italy.
Our experience with company Headout was extremely disappointing and caused significant damage to two full days of our trip. On the first day, during the scheduled tour, we and another family were left behind in Herculaneum for over an hour, without proper assistance. We were traveling with a child, without access to food, water, or phone charging facilities. As a result of this serious failure, we completely missed the visit to Pompeii, a core part of the tour we had purchased. Following this incident, the company itself offered to reschedule the Pompeii tour for the next day, an option that we immediately accepted, requesting the new tickets right away. Trusting this solution, we rearranged our entire itinerary and postponed our trip to Rome solely to take part in the rescheduled tour. However, on the following day, the company did not show up at the meeting point at all. We arrived on time and waited for over 30 minutes, with no representative present and no communication. When we contacted the company, we were told—after a brief apology—that there were no available spots, despite the tour having been offered and accepted the day before. As a result, two days of our trip were completely ruined due to the company’s operational failures. We request an immediate refund, and we were informed that it will take 5 to 7 business days, meaning after our trip has already ended, which only adds to the frustration. This reflects a complete lack of organization, communication, and respect for customers, particularly families traveling internationally with limited time and careful planning. We do not recommend this company, and we hope this review helps other travelers avoid a similar experience.
The experience started well with a pick up at hotel to Pompeii. The tour guide was very good, informative and friendly. Unfortunately she rushed out after an hour and a half. Shortly after the driver came took us to Mt Vesuvius drop us off to fend for ourselves without any instructions or narrative. We received an hour and a half of guidance out of seven hour tour. Not sure why the tour guide did not continue with us. We will try and get a refund from Viator.
VERY interesting tour of Pompeii. It is a fascinating place. Lunch at the winery was lovely. Hike up Mt. Vesuvius was a good way to end the day with an increased heart rate! Fun stop at a limoncello stand on the way home. Entertaining day for sure. Be prepared for an entire day of activity (8 AM - 6 PM).
We had a nice time exploring Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Lunch was simple, but very good. The crowds were heavy, so we were happy to have a guide to show us around.
The trip to Pompeii, Vesuvius and lunch at a local winery was fabulous! Ended with a limoncello tasting and more. Paola was an excellent guide as was the guide in Pompeii (sport can’t remember his name!!) We would thoroughly recommend this tour. A long day but well worth it!
An awe inspiring experience and a wish list completed. Pompeii is majestic in its destruction and the works to excavate amazing. Vesuvius is amazing, the hike a little tough but worth it. The tastings and the craft visits were appropriate.
This day tour was very interesting and a lot of fun. In the morning we started at Pompeii there was a lot of walking but it was worth it.after lunch we went to Mount Vesuvius this was something to see
This was a truly amazing day! If you are considering this trip, we cannot recommend it highly enough. The day was organised brilliantly throughout. The tour guides were knowledgeable and really brought the history alive throughout the day! This is a day we will never forget!
All exactly as advertised! Well done. Good 2 hr tour of Pompeii, very informative. If want to learn more, look into YouTube! Very nice winery stop. Unfortunately for us, high winds closed Vesuvius, but guide made best of the time.
This was a great experience. Yes it was a full/long day, but we saw so much. The Pompeii visit was excellent with a very knowledgeable local tour guide. For lunch we were brought to a local winery and had pasta, wine, and dessert - all excellent. Then onto Vesuvius. They drove us as far as vehicles were allowed, then we had a timed entrance and had to hike about 20 minutes UPHILL to reach the top of the crater. Once up there, we walked around the perimeter for a half hour then headed back down to catch the bus. Absolutely need to wear good footwear - it was steep and rocky but definitely doable. All sets were doing the hike, just don’t wear sandals or flip flops. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The overall tour coordinator was just ok but the bus driver was awesome - very skilled and patient dealing with the crazy traffic.
We were staying in Sorrento, and we booked this trip through TUI before we went. Our guide Desire (I think that is how you spell it) was so knowledgeable and friendly and was always on hand to answer any questions that we had. We booked this trip as we wanted to visit both Pompeii and Vesuvius on the same day and I had no expectations for our lunch but it was lovely. The restaurant was near the bottom of Vesuvius, and the staff were so warm and welcoming. The food was delicious, and the free wine was a delight. It was that good that we bought a couple of bottles to take away with us.
Paula and the drivers were amazing on the Pompei and Mt Vesuvius tours. Friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining! What a wonderful way to see these two icons of history. Our 9 year old son had the time of his life learning about what happened to Pompei when Vesuvius erupted in 79AD!
Nice tour of Pompeii on a very crowded fall day (no fault of tour co). Surprised we were handed off in Pompeii to another tour guide, but she was very good. Lunch was good and filling and two of three wine tastings were good. Mt Vesuvius is a challenging hike and there is nothing to do and very little shade for those that don’t hike. Only one in our party hiked and it was enjoyable with great views of volcano caldera and Naples bay. Limited rest rooms on whole trip so planning is key. Small tour bus with very limited leg room and less than adequate A/C was a definite drawback. Would recommend.
Amazing tour. Bus was very comfortable. Tour guides were friendly and very helpful. Pompeii tour guide was very knowledgeable. Lunch was great. Vesuvius hike was steeper than I thought but doable. View was amazing.
Excellent day out. Our guide and bus driver picked us up and took us to Pompeii first. We skipped the queues and went straight inside. Our guide inside Pompeii was lovely and very knowledgeable. We spent a couple of hours here learning the history and looking at the ruins. After this we went to a local winery for lunch which was very tasty. We got to try three different wines which were all very nice. We then set off up to the walking point on mount Vesuvius. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great and it was extremely foggy so even though we made it up the top we couldn’t see much due to the fog! But we were happy we made it. After this the guide and driver took us back to Sorrento. It’s a long and tiring day but we Would definitely recommend 🙂
Great experience. Me and my wife had a great time thanks. We couldn't have asked for more. I'm glad we chose you for our tour.
Tour was well balanced. Pompeii guide was amazing in her explanations. We had a short meal with wine tasting before reaching out to mount Vesuvius.
A fascinating experience not to be missed. This tour proved to be a good balance of guided tour around Pompeii with an experienced guide (2hrs), walking up the final stretch of the Vesuvius peak and a pleasant relaxing lunch. Fairly strenuous walking up Vesuvius on a gravel path - note the walk is longer than the quoted height ascended and took 1hr to 1.5hrs there and back. Be prepared for the heat when walking Pompeii in sunny weather and wear good shoes up Vesuvius!
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip from pick up to drop off. Communication prior to the trip was excellent . The staff throughout the day were great , friendly and knowledgable . Our guide round Pompeii ( Annalisa) was brilliant and very informative . The coach is very comfortable and the driver an expert and really friendly . The trip flowed perfectly and the lunch at the vineyard was lovely . All in all can’t recommend this trip enough … good value for money .
Paola our guide and Michael our driver were fantastic! We had a fantastic trip seeing the sights of Pompeii and Vesuvio. Lunch at the vineyard was delicious and we even stopped for limoncello tasting on the way back to Sorrento which was a bonus.
Your was great and especially because as part of the tour included all tickets and fast passes, we skipped the line at Pompeii which was great. Def a must do!
Well organised, the guide knowledgeable and friendly. Pompei was very good. Vesuvius was interesting slopes were steep, but good trip.
Paula was unbelievable. The trip far exceeded expectations. The limoncello tasting at the end was awesome and the wine & lunch was delicious. Great value for the price
Great guide and Tour of Pompeii. Lunch was substandard and the wait time was unacceptable. Bathroom conditions in the restaurant were in disrepair and unclean. Hike up.Vesuvius was as expected, but would have been better to have 15 to 30 minutes more time to not feel so rushed. Bus driver was fantastic, but the bus was tight and cramped and somewhat uncomfortable.
Fascinating historical site. Involves a lot of walking. Wear good hiking shoes to climb to the top of the mountain if you’re planning to include it.
Paola and Michele were fantastic all day. Kept the tour light and fresh all day even after lunch when we were all ready for a nap. Anna-lisa and Paola did a great job managing a very busy Pompeii. Highly recommend this tour
We had a wonderful time. We made a mistake and missed the start time. We were able to get ourselves to Pompeii and Paola met us outside the park and fast-tracked us into the site where we caught up to our tour. Gino was very informative and moved us along at a very comfortable pace. The lunch and wine/tasting with Paola was a lot of fun. We skipped the Vesuvius climb and Paola efficiently arranged to have us delivered back to Sorrento. Thank you for the extra efforts.
Spectacular tour! Paula our guide thought of absolutely everything! The entire trip was well structured, lunch was a beautiful surprise at the winery and then they gave us plenty of time to hike Mount Vesuvius at our own pace which was really nice. Even stopped by a lemoncelo place on our way back to try samples, it was a very fun day and got back around 6:30pm which was a really nice long day!
This was a fantastic trip and well worth the money. Pompeii was very busy, so bare that in mind, the tour guide was great and very enthusiastic. Lunch was beautiful and it all dietary requirements were cater for. Mount Vesuvius was well worth the trip, you are driven up most of the mountain, so you only have a 20/25 minute steep walk to reach the top. You'll be find in trainers, but be aware it is dusty up there. I would do the trip again.
Great tour - considering how expensive everything is here, this was quite a good value. The tour guides were good and the driver Miguel was excellent - normally I would have been terrified taking a bus trip up that mountain road, but he was very safe which was much appreciated.
Paula and driver Michele were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the Pompei tour with Monica - very informative. The lunch was very disappointing- food quality wasn’t that good and 2 people in our party had hair in their food. The wine was very good Mount Vesuvius was a nice drive but a little too steep / challenging for 2 of us. Also enjoyed Peter’s lemoncello store very nice also.
Just as it shoud be. Kind, detailed, well organised. Driver who drives and smiles (even sings), Paola who leads a group like a good old friends, flexible to pick us at hotel, excellent guided visit to Pompei with a storytelling. We felt good afterwards. Recommend.
Good pick up, guided tour of Pompeii by local expert is definitely the way to go; they know the main sites, explain with detail knowledge of Roman life and how Vesuvius impacted Pompeii. The guide tries to avoid the crowds from cruise ships and stops to explain areas without being rushed. We then went to a winery for lunch which was more than adequate, get to taste 3 wines with lunch. The small mini bus was a bit crowded as 2 trips merged into one to go to Vesuvius. It’s a pretty steep hike, but most can steadily make it up. Could be uncomfortable in the heat. Seeing the crater isn’t much of a Wow, but the views of Naples and the bay definitely are; stunning landscape. Enjoyed the guide and driver for our trip, nice and friendly, it’s fair value for what you experience in my opinion.
We had a great day! Everything was very well organized and the tour guide was very informative. We loved our lunch and tasting at the winery and the group size was just perfect.
Had a great time visiting Pompeii with my friend . We had a very good guide he was very thorough & knowledgeable & gave us extra time for pictures & to look around on our own . Lunch was included & was at a very nice restaurant. Then we took the bus again & drove to the lower part of the Vesuvio and hiked all the way up .What an incredible view from that trail. I highly recommend this tour .
