Excellent excursion. Nino met us in Sorrento and shared interesting history of the area on the drive out. The hike was somewhat challenging but our guide took strategically timed breaks to let us catch our breath while he provided information about the history of the path, the area, etc. Brunch at a farm on the path was a very unique - we could not have this experience hiking on our own. The food was delicious. The view extraordinary. We found Nino and his son to be experienced and professional.

Fantastic experience from Beginning to end. Danny was amazing and did a great job narrating the entire hike. This is a must do for people who enjoy hiking, just know there are some difficult parts. So glad I checked this off my bucket list!
This is not the hike we were sold by the travel agency representing the guides. The Path of the Gods begins in Bomerano and ends in Nocelle, which is near Positano. I specifically asked if the hike began in Bomerano and if we could leave the tour group when it reach Nocelle to continue to Positano on our own. I was told it did indeed start in Bomerano and I could simply let the guide know of our plans the day of the hike. Turns out the hike provided is a loop starting and ending in Bomerano. The guide provided had no knowledge of the booking inquiry about leaving, etc. We were told we could leave the tour where the path crossed the route to Nocelle and continue on our own for 2.5 more miles which we were ill equipped to do as there are multiple paths the crisscross the area. We went with the group and the guide was knowledgeable and very nice but it just wasn't what we anticipated. I don't blame the guide company - I blame Avi Travel. Viator denied my request for a partial refund based on the communication I documented. This was my first booking through Viator and it will be my last. I'm sure it's not much of a loss to them but I can't support a company that allows tours to be mis-represented when sold then just says sorry....no refund. Again the actual guides were great, just watch out and book with a different agency.
Don’t need to be a pro athlete to do this hike. Even if you are afraid of heights you can easily do it. This hike was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Italy!!!! 😊
This was genuinely one of the best things I have done in Sorrento. I actually loved this guided hike! The guide, Antonino, was incredibly knowledgeable. Although the hike was challenging, we had plenty of breaks for water and the guide checked on everyone multiple times to ensure we were ready to continue the hike. 100/10, I actually had such a great time!
Nino was a great guide, and very knowledgeable of the area. The walk itself was very manageable (and we did the “harder” walk) and had fantastic views. Then to top it off with the Shepards lunch was perfect.
Overall, this was a very fun experience. Antonino and his father are outstanding guides who have been leading hikes along the Path of the Gods for years. Their knowledge of the trail, local history, and the surrounding Amalfi Coast made the hike even more enjoyable. The views are stunning all throughout and the lunch stop at the Shepherd’s Hut was a great addition. We enjoyed a selection of fresh bread, vegetables, fruit, goat cheese, water, and wine while taking in the scenery. 10/10 would recommend!
Nino and Michael were great guides, really helpful during the hike. We got to meet the shepherd and the food was wonderful.
Excellent day out, my nephew and I loved this hike. Antonino and Michael were fabulous guides, so knowledgeable and experienced. They were excellent hosts for our hike, passionate about the path and the region, thoughtful, friendly and very conscious of the high temperatures so made sure we were all safe. The stop at Antonio’s shepherd hut was a highlight of our trip.
If you want stunning scenery this is the trip for you. It’s not always an easy trek however there are two routes, same views but one less strenuous than the other. I did this today with my 69 year old Mum, she is active and fit for her age but obviously slower in pace. We all started together and then the group split into two, one doing the higher route and we did the lower one. The shepherd hut lunch was simple but delicious, they are so friendly and kind. A huge shout out to Monica, one of our guides who was so kind, encouraging and patient with mum. She was just lovely and so knowledge. It was a day trip to remember and I’d recommend the trip and company to you everyone.
We had the best experience with Nino! This hike is a MUST BOOK if you are wanting a true Italian hiking experience that Nino fills rich with culture, insights and connection to the local community. He taught us about the land, the history and story of the communities we interacted with. He brought so much joy to the trip with funny antidotes and which really made the group environment fun and engaging though the entire hike. Getting the chance to break bread with local farmers and sharing in group song was the best part of the hike. Antonio and his family were so hospitable. He was hilarious and you could feel his love for both the job and the land! We did this hike with our two kids (20/11) and both really enjoyed it. Nino and his team were easy to find in the Sorrento town square, we loved how this was a family business for him and he treated us with the same care. They were so thoughtful thoughout the hike providing hiking polls and keep pace for all members of the group to feel strong and confident regardless of their capability. We met so many awesome new people, it was truly a memorable part of our trip! Thank you Nino for everything.
This was an extremely beautiful hike! Going to meet the Sheppard was a highlight. Totally recommend!!
This is a fantastic hike beautifull views and interesting insight on how people lived and worked the land, with many stops going out to take pictures, we started at a high level making our way down to a shepards hut, but on the return it was up hill all the way with many steps and no stops for rest or photos which made it very tough, I consider my self quite fit but not at speed going up hill with many steps, very hard on knees.
I’ll start by saying we really loved this experience, we don’t drive so doing the trail another way would’ve been harder for us to get to. Meeting point is in the main square but was easy to find, we were divided into groups of 8 people and sent off with our guides. The trail itself starts from Bomerano and the route this tour takes is a circular back to the same point, with a viewpoint of Positano. The trail isn’t massively strenuous and there is a small bit of uphill walking. I’m unsure why but when we arrived we were given a different guide to the one who drove us, we were told usually we keep the same person. So we joined our new guide who was already with an Italian couple, the entire walk this couple led the way with the guide and kept overtaking everyone to be at the front which wasn’t a problem apart from at the overlook at Positano we stopped for no more than a couple minutes to take some photos. The guide set off ahead with the couple and left us and another couple from our group behind, the trail was busy being a weekend and we got stuck behind another tour group, another guide from a different group told us to hurry up but we explained we got stuck behind a group of walkers and he admitted that our guide should’ve waited to make sure where we were. This was on the way to the shepherds hut, the other guide then proceeded to leave us and take his group via another path and we had no idea whether to follow or stick to the path our guide took which was essentially a dirt path up a hill. We completely lost sight of our guide (and he clearly hadn’t looked for us) for a few minutes up to the shepherds hut. Other than that though, it was an enjoyable experience
Just a perfect weather and location for the hike. Not strenuous at all, quite easy even for someone like me who’s got bad knee.
We had the most amazing experience hiking with Tony and Daniela. I'm so glad we had this experience as it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sorrento. We were blessed with very good weather and the views were incredible, I would highly recommend it as long as you are fairly fit as it can be a little challenging in places but the hiking stick comes in very handy!
The experience was fantastic from the start to the end. The hike was less difficult then I expected but catered to multi levels of hikers so that was great. The views were breathtaking, our guide the son Nino was informative and entertaining. Lunch at the Shepard’s hut was an unexpected delight with great food and interactive music. They even catered to gluten free. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend it.
This was one of the most enjoyable things we did while we were in Italy. Our guide Nino and his two sons were excellent. They provided a lot of great information about the area in general and specifically the areas we were hiking. The views were absolutely incredible and the farm to table lunch was wonderful. The farmer provided some great entertainment after lunch. FYI - Parts of the hike can be challenging but very rewarding. We highly recommend this experience.
I did not realize that this hike was more arduous than I anticipated. But we were able to do it, even though we’re both in our late 60’s. The views, the camaraderie with other hikers, the stop at the shepherd’s house all made for a most memorable experience. Definitely do it, you’ll never forget it.
Wow!!! Stunning and great history lessons along the way. Great stop at the Shepard home with a lovely meal, breathtaking views and fun entertainment 😊do not do if you are afraid of heights or unfit!! It is a real challenge if not fit… 🥴
First and foremost it was incredibly beautiful and you will finish with a strong sense of accomplishment. HOWEVER I read a ton of reviews prior to going and none of them laid out the reality. 1. You must be in AT MINIMUM moderate shape. Any review that says it is “easy” or “a light hike” is someone who hikes professionally. 2. It is steep and can be very slippery at times. 3. Can feel incredibly dangerous. 4. The bathroom at the shepherds place is not an easy situation for a woman 5. There is a lot of uphill 6.The “easier path” is not easy, it is still a challenge 7. You need and want that walking stick. It is a huge help 8. I would not do this at the height of summer. It is physically challenging and adding summer heat would have made it 10x harder. 9. The scenery is breathtaking 10. If you can physically do this, it is an incredible once in a lifetime experience 11. Wear really good sturdy footwear and know, you will get dirty. 12. Wish the guides gave more historical context 13. Enjoy yourself.
The hike included some amazing views and the guide told us about the very interesting history of the area.
Great hike on a loop from Bomerano with a lovely light lunch included at the shepherd's hut. Really enjoyable day.
We did the Path of the Gods tour from Bomerano to Positano and back and I can not express enough what an amazing experience it was! Our tour guide, Nino, was not only very knowledgeable, funny and kind, but you could also tell he absolutely LOVES his job! In fact, this isn’t a “job” for him. He genuinely seems to find peace and contentment in the stunning surroundings. I am a lover of the outdoors and I have to say his true love and passion for what he does made my love for the outdoors even greater! His motto is to ‘be a traveller, not a tourist’ and this hike does just this! He stopped and showed us all the indigenous herbs of the area, showed us authentic shepherds with their goats, etc and we even got to have a stop for a quick lunch at one of the homes along the way - which was an added bonus we didn’t know about! This was by far our favorite tour in Italy and would 100% recommend to everyone!
This was such an amazing experience and if you are fit and like adventures this tour is for you. Nino was our tour guide and he was SUPER! In this tour you stop at the house of a shepherd and their hospitality was great.
Great organisation from the guide. Good communication before hand. 1 hour drive to the start of the walk. The walk itself was pretty easy. 3.6 miles with a few gentle climbs and descents. No great exposure, the path was wide and well maintained. The walk can be easily managed in trainers. The guide was very well informed and provided interesting information and local incite. The walk stops at a Shepard's hut for a light snack with wine and some folk singing. A tip is expected so bring some cash. The walk also paused at a second hut that sells cold drinks, again only cash. The views are spectacular but all very similar - Positano with Capri in the background. 1.5 hours of walking. 2 hours of travel. 2.5 hours chat and breaks. Overall a very pleasant stroll, with great views
It's a relatively easy walk that is enjoyable. Nino is a good guide with local knowledge. If you are a seasoned walker the pace may be a bit too slow.
This was one of the best parts of my entire trip to Italy. The views are spectacular. Our guide was a local, born and raised, so he was packed with information and had many extra surprises for us. I would do this again. Be aware, this is not an easy hike.
This is our second time doing this tour. We had the same tour guide as before, Nino who is clearly passionate about his job, had a wealth of information and very attentive to the group as a whole - would recommend this tour, great value for money and stop at the shepherd hut was superb with great wine and food!
This tour group needs to do a better job informing people that they do not do the full hike. Had we realized that we would have arranged for a different way to the trailhead. Luckily we were able to leave the group mid tour and finish the hike on our own but this tour was not worth the price.
Outstanding hike with Antonio and Nino. We enjoyed their knowledge, patience, light lunch and stops along the way. Views were amazing!
The hike was tough at times, but overall easy enough if you are fairly in shape and used to hiking. We got lucky as the higher portion of the hike was open and we were told it had been closed for a while. There were multiple guides and I can't say every group was 10 or under as they promise, and this was a little annoying as there were times we were trying to find space for our group and had to be aware of the other groups. Otherwise, the hike was beautiful and you can split off at the end of the hike and continue to Palermo (which we did not know and wish we had). The stop for cheese and wine was beautiful as well!
Walking sticks are included and therefore no need to take them. Which would have been helpful to know and save us not only having to buy some but also having to find space in our luggage allowance. Would suggest people wear walking boots. This is a Hike and the path is uneven. A lot of waiting around at the start and at the end. Which again more combination wpb;d have been helpful. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Well-organized and amazing views! Once-in-a-lifetime experience! Be sure to wear good walking/hiking shoes and sunblock and bring plenty of water!
The day started with a nice mini bus ride to a quait village where the hike started. Our guide was brilliant and so informative about area and the people who live there. The hike itself was a bit challenging at times, mainly due to the heat and my short legs! One highlight was lunch at the shepherd's hut with an impromptu song! Would definitely recommend this hike, views spectacular.
The view is stunning and the trip was a really nice experience. Being used to hiking, my opinion is that the "upper" path, that we god the option to take, really is not very hard or challenging, but of course it depends on your skills. However, I would say the view from the "upper" path is significantly better. Our guides were good I want critizise one point in the description of the tour. It says something like "....walking on the path between Bomerano and Nochelle....". This gives the impression that you walk from Bomerano to Nocelle. But, you also end up at the startingpoint in Bomerano, walking more or less the same path both ways This was very disapointing to me when I found out. It is clear that the startingpoint is Bomerano in the desciption of the tour, but it is not clear that you finish in Bomerano. If you want to walk all the way to Nocelle og Positano, you have to organise transport back to Sorrento on your own. Having read about the big troubles with public transport back to Sorrento in the afternoon (especially if the boats do not run due to weatherconditions), I decided to go for this tour anyway.
Path of the Gods absolutely stunning loved every minute of it but it was extremely warm which made it harder our guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable
This is the perfect tour for anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants to see the Amalfi Coast. Our tour guide, Antonino, was fantastic. He had great knowledge of the trail, pointing out vineyards and stables, and identifying the best viewpoints. Walking sticks were provided. Photos of the coast don’t do justice to the beauty of this place, you need to see it for yourself. The stop for lunch at the shepherd’s, complete with entertainment and cute pups, was an added bonus.
We are so thankful we got to experience this on our trip. The hike is very much worth it for the views and learning about the history of the area. It was not a very challenging hike but it does turn into a great workout, and they offer alternative routes that are less challenging but do not take away from the experience! Our guide was so knowledgeable and kind. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us.
Nino is amazing! This trip was perfection! It exceeded all of my expectations. I searched everywhere for a guided hike of the Path of the Gods that left out of Sorrento by our hotel. I also wanted a hike that began in Bomerano and continued to Nocelle or Positano. They were all exorbitant prices! This was a small group, super clean van, very informative driver and guide, lunch and so much more! This is the hike to take.
Trek was described as going from Bomerano to Nocelle. I wanted to verify this and in a chat the representative confirmed that the bus would drop us off at Bomerano and pick is up at Nocelle (I made a copy of the chat). Instead the group did an out and back trek, only going on a portion of the path and starting and returning to Bomerano. Since we wanted to do the longer trek we left the group at the snack area/midpoint and continued on our own to Nocelle, where we made our way to Positano and then took the ferry back to Sorrento. I will try to get our ferry tickets reimbursed. Other than this significant departure from the tour description, tour guides were good and snack was better than excepted.
This hike was the highlight of our trip the path was challenging at times but so woth it. Our guides Antonio and Chiro were very knowledgeable. The lunch with the Sheppard was an authentic experience that we will cherish forever.
Informative active hike- very knowledgeable tour guides. Long drive (over an hour) to reach start of hike. Shepherds hut was the absolute highlight! Great food, wine and entertainment. Incredible views along hike. We chose to take “easier” route with less steps- still a great challenging hike but found the pace a little slow- too many long stops.
Well-organized tour by a local family passionate about this part of South Italy! Plenty of brief stops along the way where the guide explains history & geography of the area - a whole lot more context than hiking solo and staring out over the cliffs. Pleasant surprise was the lunch stop at the shepherd's house - good food, wine & live music!
Great walk Tough in parts and recomment only for experenced hikers although an easier option given was most helpful, Ive said it all and worth the views and walk if just to get away from the crowds everwhere...,enchanting! xx
Loved the views and sharing in the life of a goat shepherd for an hour. The trail was not even and steep in places so you need to be a bit fit. Not for anyone with bad knees.
Fabulous hike with a unique lunch stop where we sampled local produce directly from the hillside. The guide was great, very knowledgeable and amusing. The pace was just right, plenty of time to absorb the epic views and there's an optional less-energetic route part way for those needing it. Highly recommended
Would definitely recommend this trip for those who are used to hiking. You’ll need sturdy footwear and water. Staying in Sorrento was great but very busy so it was nice to get away from the crowds and step back in to nature. Our guide Nino was so passionate about the area and the local flora and fauna. It goes without saying the views were spectacular. The lunch at the Shepherd’s Hut provided by the shepherds using their local produce was so tasty and such a welcome treat.
This was an excellent hike with beautiful views of the Amalfi coast! Roberto was our guide He was knowledgeable and fun!! We would do this again! The lunch with the shepherds was a really nice touch
Beautiful walk overlooking the coast. Our guide, Georgia, was great. She stopped along the way to tell us about the native plants and also about the history in the area. Also gave time for pictures and to catch your breath. Hiking poles a must (they provided) The stop at shepherds hut for wine and light lunch was really nice. Primitive bathroom was available at the hut.
