My family and I had an absolutely unforgettable day with Franco! From the moment we met him, his kindness, passion, and deep knowledge of the Amalfi Coast made the experience truly special. As we hiked the Path of the Gods, Franco shared fascinating history about the region, stories about the local communities, and insights into traditions that brought each town to life. Beyond being an exceptional guide, Franco arranged unique food and drink experiences along the way that made the day even more memorable. The hike itself was breathtaking, but the highlight of the day was the incredible meal Franco and his sister, Angela, prepared for us at their home in Monteprusso. We were treated to a spectacular six-course homemade feast, with every dish more delicious than the last. Franco and Angela welcomed us like family and created an experience that went far beyond a typical tour. We left with full hearts, amazing memories, and a genuine appreciation for the local culture. We couldn't be more grateful to them for such an extraordinary day, and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Positano!
If you are planning to hike the Path of the Gods, booking the Gastronomy Tour with Franco Trekking Positano is the best decision you can make. From start to finish, Franco and Angela went completely above and beyond to create an absolutely amazing, unforgettable experience for our family. The seamless experience started well before the hike as their communication beforehand via WhatsApp was incredibly responsive and clear. They completely took the stress out of our day by expertly managing all the complicated transport logistics of getting to and from the trailheads. Once on the trail, they provided hiking poles and snacks. Franco is an officially certified CAI and AIGAE guide, and his deep roots as a local forest ranger shine through every step of the journey. They shared incredibly rich history and ancient legends that brought the dramatic cliffs to life. Because Franco and Angela know all the locals who live up in the mountains, we had unique experiences you could never get on your own—including getting to help make sure the local working donkeys had enough water to keep them cool. A wonderful surprise was their rescue dog, Sunny! She is the most enthusiastic, adorable hiking companion who brought so much joy to the trail. Franco and Angela were also phenomenal with our kids, perfectly managing the group pacing and taking dozens of amazing family photos of us against the most stunning backdrops so we could just live in the moment. What really sets this apart is the beautiful hospitality. They provided delicious snacks along the route, culminating in an authentic farm-to-table food tasting experience. Franco even gifted us incredible homemade wine and savory sausage sourced directly from their farm. Our family is so happy we completing this hike together. We enjoyed seeing the views from above far more than being in the crowded towns. It was a deeply moving, awe-inspiring experience that we will be forever grateful for. I highly recommend booking Franco Trekking for this hike or any other hiking experience if you’re in the Amalfi Coast area.
This Gastronomic Hike on the Path of the Gods was hands down the best experience we had during our entire trip to Italy! It’s a full-day adventure and definitely a challenging hike, so it’s not for everyone—but if you enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and taking in incredible scenery, this is an absolute must. Franco and Angela completely made the experience. They were amazing—so knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about the region. Throughout the day they shared stories, history, and local insight that made the hike feel so much more meaningful than just a beautiful walk. The lunch was beyond anything we expected—a true Italian feast made from Franco’s farm. Fresh cheeses, meats, bread, vegetables, and wine—it was all incredibly authentic and delicious, and felt like a special experience you simply can’t replicate in a restaurant. The hike itself is stunning, with unforgettable views of the Amalfi Coast. We truly cannot recommend this experience enough. It was the perfect combination of adventure, culture, and incredible food—and one of those rare days that you’ll talk about long after your trip is over.
Franco is amazing. He shared a wide range of interesting info, from history to myth from plants to food, from things built centuries ago to how the locals live their lives today. Franco, Angela and John are all super kind and generous, putting in extra effort and mileages to accommodate the group’s need. Very much appreciated it!! Among all, Sunny is probably the one who won most people’s hearts. :) I will definitely recommend Franco Trekking for the Path of the Gods hike! Just one minor suggestion: traffic is unpredictable and packed in this beautiful region in the busy season, and that is totally fine and understandable, but better (or more) communication would help when one runs late so that those who are waiting at the meeting point would know what to expect. :)
Franco is fabulous! Wonderful tour and truly authentic, home made food. Great stops along the path of the gods.
One of the highlights of our trip to Italy was the Path of the Gods Hike. It is such a spectacular location that every photo was a postcard. Our guide Franco was fantastic. He was so enthusiastic and engaging. The food that he brought from his farm was delicious and plentiful. Our stop at the shepherd's cabin was charming. His love and passion for the region comes through in his storytelling, and he is clearly known as a part of the community. Do not miss this wonderful experience.
We can't stop talking about how much we enjoyed this experience. Franco and Angela could charge WAY more and I'd still think it was a bargain. We (myself, 33, and my mother, 63) would recommend this experience to anyone who has any interest at all in the Path of the Gods. Franco and Angela were communicative, knowledgeable, generous, and kind. We made our booking very last minute (the day before!) and they weren't phased in the slightest. They picked us up at our hotel in Sorrento at 8:30am, drove us to the trailhead (complete with a couple stops for scenic photo ops in Positano, etc), took us on the hike with their sweet dog Sunny, spoke to us in perfect English about the history and culture of the Amalfi region, fed us a glorious lunch full of local produce, cheese, veggies, bread, wine, and HOMEMADE TIRAMISU, and then drove us home at 6pm. We loved every moment. Absolutely a highlight of our trip. If you are tempted at all, push the button! Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Grazie, Franco and Angela!!
Our day was filled with delicious food and wine, glorious views, and great guides. The trail was easy to manage, and Franco is so warm and welcoming. We felt like family at the end of the day. Our group thought this was the best guided hike we had experienced! Both Franco and Angela were enjoyable to talk with and provided great information on the area. A perfect day!
This was a wonderful hike and tasting. Franco and Angela were great guides/hoists/cooks. All in all an unforgettable experience. The views were out of thiis world and the local foods we ate were magnificent. Don't miss this opportunity.
By far the best, experience. Our guide Franco was the amazing ! He was very knowledgeable and took his time, explaining the landscape and stopped several times along the hike to assist in taking pictures and video. The lunch was the most authentic experience. Definitely come prepared with proper footwear, hat & water. Grazie Franco!
Franco and Angela are so knowledgeable about the path of gods hike. We had an incredible time, they made us feel like family. Booking with Franco helped us understand the nature of positano, the beauty the history of the people and land. Incredible hike, wear comfortable shoes, it takes about 3-4 hours total. They provided us with delicious food made from the city of Agerola, picked us up and dropped us back off at the hotel. Franco knows wine and makes his own, gave us a bottle of his white wine from his farm! We can’t wait to come back and hike with Franco and Angela again!!!
We had a wonderful time on the Gastronomic Tour on the Path of the Gods. Framco is so knowledgeable about all of the history and culture in the area. He also led us on a good pace that was not too challenging. We loved our meal and homemade wine at the shepherd’s house. Finally, the views at all times were incredible. Highly recommend!!
This was truly the best part of our entire trip in Italy! Franco was an amazing tour guide- personable, funny, interesting, and down to earth. He made a picnic for us with food from his garden, took lots of photos with us, and was extremely knowledgable about the terrain and everything about the area. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!
Franco and Angela were so kind, fun and helpful. The hike was very challenging for me, and Franco helped me every step of the way. We had fun stops along the way, we had a refreshing lemon slushy and delicious bruschetta and goat cheese. Lots of laughs when we saw a parade of goats walk by! The views were beautiful, overall it was a very rewarding experience.
It’s a beautiful hike , pack water and wear shoes for hiking . Franco is the best guide he gives you lots of information and great hospitality. So many wonderful things to see . People with knee problems or other serious injury should consider contacting guide before attempting some parts can be tricky and its a long walk but well worth every minute just spectacular
This experience was fabulous due to our fantastic guide, Franco!!! The hike was more strenuous than we expected, but we had many rewards along the way! Sweet treat just off the path, an authentic simple meal at a Shepard’s home and finally arriving at Franco’s home for an unforgettable meal/experience!! They treated us like family (group of 10 friends) and we will never forget this meal or the wonderful people they are. It was a big celebration complete with vintage musical instruments that brought so much joy. It became the best reward of the day!! I highly recommend this experience! It was an accomplishment to complete the hike as it seemed more than “moderate” as listed. A+++
Franco was such an amazing guide ! He was so friendly and inviting from the moment we met him. He offered to pick us up from the hotel since we didn’t have a car. Not only was the hike absolutely stunning with 360 views of amalfi coast at the highest points (you literally get above the clouds)… but During the hike, Franco taught us so much about the traditional Italian culture and his village. He brought us amazing local pastries, wine, and cheeses and we got to eat on a little picnic bench during our first break of the hike. He also took us to meet locals on the hike who gave us frozen lemonade and he even brought us to the villages shepherds house, where they sang local songs and even gave us pasta and homemade wine! This tour was truly worth the money. We felt like we made a friend in Franco! He was truly amazing and I highly recommend doing this hike with him. Don’t try to do this hike on your own. It would be difficult to know where to go and you will miss out on all the rich culture and stories that Franco provided.
We booked this on our honeymoon as we wanted to hike the path of the gods but not without a tour guide and the gastronomic part we viewed as a big plus. Franco was an amazing tour guide and helped make our day special. He was able to talk you through all of the wild herbs, fruits, and nuts along the way. His picnic at the end with home made salami, wine, and cheese from the maker was spectacular! Boone with Franco if you want an authentic tour with some food along the way.
We hiked with Franco and Angela and they were the most wonderful, warm, kind hiking guides. We changed the start time of our hike 2 times and they were so accommodating. We couldn’t find parking initially and they got in the car and drove around with us to help us find some. Franco is so knowledgeable about the area and the hike. Angela brought us homemade ravioli, gnocchi, goat cheese, wine, tomatoes and basil, olive oil. She carried the lunch with her the whole way so we could enjoy it on the trail. These are the most wonderful people, they put so much effort into this hike and trip for us. When we left we felt like family. Had many great conversations. You MUST book this hike with them.
Franco and Angela were exceptional guides. Their knowledge of the area as well as botany was astounding. Both were really accommodating and so friendly. The produce for lunch from Franco's farm was sublime. Highly recommend this for anyone.
Franco was an amazing guide and we had an absolutely wonderful experience! He was so knowledgeable, kept us safe, and he and Angela prepared us so much amazing food from their farm! I’ll remember this experience for many years to come. I was on the fence about even hiring a guide initially, thinking we could manage on our own, but I’m so glad we had Franco there, as I’m not sure we would have been able to do it on our own. I can’t say enough good things about this experience - definitely a highlight of the trip and I’ll be thinking of the meal we had for a long time. Next time I’m here, I would do it again!
Wow! So much to say. Franco & Angela were genuine and generous in spirit, warm, knowledgeable & incredibly hospitable. The hike was absolutely beautiful with continuous views along the way. Franco shared much about the region, history, native foliage and took great care of us along the way. It is 100% worth having a guide to narrate your hike. You are missing out if you just do this on your own. We enjoyed a meal at a generational shepherds home with great food and wine mid-way. Towards the end of our tour we had a picnic with farm fresh food from Franco’s farm. It was amazing!! Let me tell you- come hungry because they feed you well with multiple courses of food. Everything was delicious & authentic and organic. The wine was the best I had all week. He even helped us get back to where we were staying. This experience is worth every penny and more. Thanks, again!
Franco and Angela gave us the most marvelous experience hiking the path of the gods with multiple scenic and an amazing gastronomical experience along the way. They were both so kind, thoughtful and helped make the hike extremely relaxing so that we could enjoy the full breadth of the amalfi coast while learning about the significant history through the lens of their local experience. Angela made the most fantastic Easter ricotta cake dessert and Franco had amazing porchetta, sausage, cheese, olive oil, frittata, bread, seasoning, and cherry tomatoes all fresh from his farm. We could not have asked for a better experience during what was one of the most memorable days of our life and one of the many highlights of our southern Italy trip. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in hiking, amazing food, with two of the most thoughtful hosts! Angela also drove us after to a drop off point which we very much appreciated!

This tour was incredible. Franco was an absolutely wonderful guide: friendly, knowledgeable, kind, fun, funny. He is a true local and knows everything about the area. The views are out of this world spectacular. Pleasant weather in March and no crowds. And the food!! All of it homemade by Franco and his colleague Angela (the most delicious tiramisu we've ever had). We were three adults and three teens. it was the highlight of our trip to Italy. We will recommend to all.
This hike and gastronomy experience was the highlight of our trip to Amalfi coast. Franco was an excellent guide. His knowledge and experience came through every step we took. Franco and Angela made an amazing meal. It felt like we were family. Thank you again!
What can I say? This was easily our highlight experience for visiting the Amalfi Coast and one of the most memorable experiences on our honeymoon to Italy. Franco takes you on an exclusive and unique experience through the path of the gods, sharing local knowledge and things you would not see or learn by doing the hike on your own. We had several incredibly delicious meals from the local farms in the area and an outstanding wine from Franco’s farm, which was some of the best wine we tasted in Italy. Franco is friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and a great conversationalist. We chose to do all the steps down to Positano at the end of the hike and he took us down the entire way and even made sure we were able to get our ferry tickets successfully. We told him it was our honeymoon before the tour and he arranged a little surprise dessert for us at our first meal stop. October was a great month temperature-wise for the hike. Definitely bring your appetite and give yourself plenty of time to not rush and enjoy this trek. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience and worth every penny. If you love food and want a unique and memorable through this historical hike we highly, highly recommend booking Franco.
Wow what an incredible experience! My husband and I booked to do this only 1 day before, and we are so glad we did because it ended up being probably our most favourite day of our honeymoon. Franco was our guide and he was absolutely amazing. He was so knowledgeable and took as at a pace we were comfortable with, and offered to take plenty of photographs along the way, always going above and beyond. He took us to the Shepard’s house where we ate some incredible food made by the locals. We also got to experience folk songs. To top off what was an incredible once in a lifetime hike, Franco and Angela prepared a delicious picnic with homemade wine and produce. We couldn’t speak more highly of Franco and Angela, they delivered an experience we will remember and speak about forever.
We loved the views from Path of the Gods. Franco made the experience memorable with his stories of the area and friends along the path.
Franco and Angela were great tour guides. Franco had lots of stories and history to share. The food and wine was awesome. It felt like we were on an adventure with family. I highly recommend this tour.
Franco and Angela were the best hosts and guide for this scenic hike with the best views of the Amalfi coast. Hike is about 5 hours, spanning almost 6 kilometers. Lots of rocks, some of them slippery, both up and down. But mostly moderate trails with those rocky challenges mixed in. Franco provides walking sticks which were very helpful. The hike is definitely strenuous, but so worth it. The best part was at the end, Franco and Angela prepared a lovely picnic dinner in the park, with homemade wine, salami, cheeses, vegetables from the garden, pasta and homemade tiramisu! Mamma Mia! What a great day!
An enthusiastic Franco greeted the 8 of us and quickly fit us with a hiking stick and we were on our way. The pace was slow but steady. This was a beautiful hike with a couple special surprises along the way. Franco was happy to share lots of fun facts about the area and was very knowledgeable about plants and flowers. There are two spots to refill water bottles along the way so you don’t need more than a couple bottles. At the end, we went to a park and enjoyed an amazing home cooked traditional Italian meal along with homemade wine. Over the top!!! This was our favorite excursion during our time on the Amalfi coast. Note: There is a bus that goes to the meeting spot from Amalfi. Wish we had known that. We unnecessarily over paid for a private driver. We did take the bus back at the end.
One of the best experiences we had while visiting the Amalfi Coast! Franco and Angelina are both so incredibly kind, accommodating and knowledgeable. He’s a true local and it’s his true passion which made the jaw dropping hike even more enjoyable. The hike is fairly easy but it can be a bit confusing to navigate safely which helped to have them with us - not to mention the amazing food and wine all prepared from the land you are hiking. He fit us in for a sunset hike on 24 hours’ notice even though he already did one in the day and dropped us to our hotel! Can’t recommend enough.
My fiancé and I hiked with Franco during our recent trip to Rome and Amalfi, and this was one of the most memorable vacation experiences ever, not just in Italy! The hike itself is only moderately challenging (though on a hot summer day you’ll sweat a lot!), the food you’ll try is abundant and delicious, and Franco and his assistant, Angela, are absolute gems! Going in, you’ll see lots of signs warning about the equipment and condition you need to be in to do the hike, but I wouldn’t recommend taking that too literally. My fiancé and I are reasonably fit, but we’re not athletes. We still were able to move through the path at a good clip in normal sneakers while battling hangovers in 90+ degree heat with little difficulty. The views over the coast were stunning. The stop at the ancient shepherd’s hut was fascinating. Franco has a wealth of knowledge about the area, including its history, vegetation, produce, and livestock. He even runs his own farm there. He’s extremely eager to share with his guests his knowledge and regional flavors. He’s also exceedingly friendly and you’ll want to be lifelong friends by the end! (Not to mention, he’s also a strong singer, photographer, and chef!) Likewise, Angela, who helped with food preparation and transportation, is so sweet. They do everything they can to make this experience unforgettable. Speaking of the food, wow! During the hike we had lemon slush from a local vendor and a plate of fresh cheese and produce at the shepherd’s hut. Then we arrived at tree covered park table for our “picnic,” which turned out to be a 5-course meal prepared by Franco and Angela. Corn on the cob, two styles of meatball, salami and cheeses, pasta, and salads—these are just some of the items we ate. All fresh and much of it produced by Franco himself. And we were so full by the end we didn’t even come close to finishing the spread! The only caveat I would offer to readers is to allow for plenty of time and a robust appetite. Traveling from Ravello, it was a 9-hour day for us from start to finish. The experience itself was about 6 hours long. You’ll be exhausted and full afterwards, so I don’t recommend any big dinner reservations that night (a mistake my fiancé and I made!). I suppose it could be a shorter and less filling day if you request it, but you should go for the full experience if you can! Grazie mille for an incredible experience, Franco and Angela! We miss you guys already!
We spent a terrific day with Franco and Angela taking in the unbelievable views of the Amalfi coast from above. Franco is extremely knowledgeable of local customs, flora and fauna and was constantly pointing out interesting things along the path. We stopped for lemon ice and at a local goat herders hut for a light snack, to be followed by a truly incredible meal fresh from Franco’s garden— fresh mozzarella, bread, homemade salami, bean salad, fried zucchini blossoms, Franco’s wine— and that’s only the half of it! Cancel your dinner reservations if you make the good choice of joining Franco and Angela for this incredible experience. Their genuineness and hospitality were boundless. Highly recommended as a family excursion for the day.
Best thing we did during our stay on the Amalfi coast. Franco was a wonderful guide who was very informative and kept us smiling and laughing as he sang local songs during our hike. Franco's food (wine/salami, mozzarella) and our visit to a local sheep herder cabin for fresh goat cheese were unforgettable. 5 stars for Franco!!!!
Our Path of the Gods hike led by Franco and Angela was truly the highlight of our honeymoon trip in Italy, even from someone who doesn’t enjoy heights! The views were absolutely breathtaking (pictures can’t even fully capture), and Franco’s knowledge of the area pace is unmatched. The fresh lunch he provided from his own garden was truly incredible, one of the best meals we ate on our entire trip. This hike will be one we will remember fondly forever, and if we ever get the opportunity to revisit the Amalfi Coast, Franco will be the first person we will contact again to guide us on another hike. We really couldn’t recommend Franco and his company highly enough, it is an absolute must-do in the Amalfi Coast.
This hike has been the highlight of our stay on the Amalfi coast. Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful experience. You will not be disappointed. Franco is a talent, he blends his deep knowledge and love of the mountains, his passion for ecological food production and keeping alive traditional food and wine production of the region with his love of the natural environment and the history of the area. In addition, he is a thoroughly lovely person, heaping kindness and care on us as his guests on this mountain hike. I won’t ruin the surprise for other guests that follow us, but his sharing of his and other’s local produce during the hike made this a truly unique experience and one we will never forget. The gastronomical hike is a magical experience - a perfect blend of hiking the breathtaking Path of the Gods coupled with Franco’s exceptional hosting and knowledge.
Franco is an amazing guide! Extremely knowledgeable and very engaging, we hiked 5 hours and enjoyed every minute of the journey! I highly recommend Franco for guided hikes in the Amalfi coast area!
Franco was an excellent guide. He was Very helpful organizing the transportation to and from the sea side town up to the mountains (Agerola) to start the hike. Franco is a master of the history of trading and development of the amalfi coast, plant and wild life and knows the best route on the beaten path. My wife is a beginner hiker and Franco ensured that we had equipment for her to be comfortable and take the safest/best way to enjoy the views. Facno’s homemade wine and our food tour after the hike was an excellent way to end the experience which was authentic and unique. No other tourists did what we did!
Franco is an absolute pleasure to be with and extremely accommodating. We had such a wonderful time with him during our hike. He is very knowledgable and we felt completely taken care of. Amazing views and company. This was truly an unforgettable experience. We will certainly plan another hike with Franco!
Super geführte Tour! Beinhaltet Natur, Geschichte und wunderbares Essen. Franco und Angela sind super Gastgeber!!
We had a wonderful day with Franco, he is a super expert and likeable hiking guide. On the trail he explained everything about the plants of the Milk Mountains (Monti Lattari) and the animals living here. He has such good ketnisses about the whole environment, whereby he also sang us beautiful songs like "O sole mio". The best thing he did was let us taste the local specialties, like cheese, mozzarrella, tomatoes and eggplant from his garden with organic olive oil and herbs from the mountains and even more, it was all so delicious !! A great surprise was tasting his fabulous wine. We recommend this tour with Franco to experience all the magical corners and heavenly views of the Path of the Gods . Thank you Franco for this wonderful experience. Everything was so great with Franco. See you next time. We will come back!!
