Magical and cold. Our ski gear did not make it, had to get other gear on. The only way to see the northern lights but bring a good camera phone capable of taking pictures in low light samsung failed but iPhone worked

Itinerary
On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes. Far away from the lights of the city this trip provides the ideal conditions to see the northern lights in a beautiful winter landscape. If we are lucky we will get to see the magnificent northern lights dancing across the sky on our trip, or be treated with a beautiful arctic night sky. No previous experience is required to drive a snowmobile. All you need is a regular driver’s license, and it’s as simple as it is fun. A thorough safety introduction and driving instruction will be given before the trip starts. You will ride in pairs, a driver and a passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to change seats during the trip. We will drive in a convoy behind the guide and we adapt the speed of the tour to experience level to provide you with a comfortable and safe experience. Please note that due to legal reasons in Norway all drivers must drive in a convoy behind our guide. Actual time spent snowmobiling is about 2 hours.

Beautiful lodge where we set off and got kitted out in warm weather and safety gear. The snowmobiles were all in good condition. Small group size. Friendly and helpful guides who told us all about the area. No northern lights unfortunately but that didn’t spoil the special feeling of being in a remote part of the beautiful country.
Ulf was an amazing guide. Patient and supportive with our group of 5. We also had perfect weather - 0 precipitation, and minimal clouds. He ensured we had the proper fit for the provided clothes and equipment. Then got us all out into the wild, to maximize our evening run. We took a well worn path, perfect for beginners, but also just enough to keep things interesting. He took just the right amount of stops to ensure everyone was okay and comfortable, as well as to swap drivers. We ended up around 535 m above sea level (where amazingly, I was still getting 3 bars of 5G - Norway knows what it's doing!). This is where we stopped and thr aurora decided to put on a show for us. Ulf prepared a hot blueberry drink for everyone, which was just the energy hit we needed. This trip is absolutely a core memory now. Worth every penny, and more. The aurora was just an added unexpected bonus. I will say though, the experience ABSOLUTELY depends on favourable weather. I don't believe it would have been anywhere near as fun if it was raining, so do watch for that.
This was great fun. Our awesome show started during the Van ride and we stopped for a minute to get great photos. There was a little bit of a glitch in the beginning and figuring out where one group was, but we all got together and had a fantastic time snowmobiling and had amazing shows. They had great equipment for us and kept us very warm and overall it was a fantastic experience. Just know that when they tell you to meet by the blue building, you won’t be able to tell it’s blue at night. So pay attention when you go out during the day so you know the spot.
I had never been on a snowmobile and that in itself was awesome. We made it to the top of the mountain and so grateful for the warm suits provided by the operator. Kept us perfectly warm and protected. The northern lights at the top were spectacular!!!!! A trip of a lifetime.
It was the best experience we could have hoped for. The team is extremely organized and very helpful. Jens, our guide, was exceptional! He explained everything to us, guided us safely, found the best vantage points, and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. The hot cider and chocolate break was perfect. Highly recommended!
All clothing is provided. They do a good job with instructions and safety. It was great to do this at night.
We didn’t see the northern lights due to clouds but the snowmobile ride was great & our guide was great as well.
It was the highlight of our entire trip. The communication was excellent. The service was excellent and the guides were the best. Can’t recommend enough.
We were very lucky as our group consisted of us and one other couple. Our guide Marion was excellent and we were able to go off on one of the tracks. We were lucky to have a clear night and were able to see the lights and choose when to stop and watch.
This was a really amazing experience! Our guide Jens was friendly and knowledgeable and made sure we stopped every time there was a chance of seeing the Northern Lights. He even paused when it seemed like they were going to get brighter and took pictures for us as well. It was our first time on a snowmobile but Jens made it a great experience, the safety briefing was thorough and the gear keeps you really warm. 10/10 would recommend, thank you Jens!
The best thing we did in Norway ----a great experience that you will never forget Wrap up well and you will be ok
Get warm clothes, particularly gloves, that allow you to take pictures. Reason is that Northern Lights are better seen through camera, so you will use them. Also, note that you must have a drivers license to operate a snowmobile, so don't forget it.
Nice and cold. Strong arms needed. We have seen many auroras! Elina very nice with us. To do when in Alta !!!
We did the late night excursion in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. Unfortunately it was overcast, so we only saw a glimmer. However that didn't detract from the trip which was great fun. The guides were friendly and helpful, and we had a great time.
The experience was great. The guide was super nice and made it fun. sadly we only seen a tiny bit of the northern lights, but driving the snowmobile was a lot of fun. It was super easy to learn and to manoeuvre. Very thorough security briefing as well.
We had blizzard conditions so no northern lights, but still had a great time. They supply really warm suits and driving the snowmobiling was great fun. We stopped for photos and at points of interest. Can now say we experienced proper Norway winter weather.
We had a great time in this tour! The nature is simply breathtaking, and riding snowmobiles is so much fun (even if you don’t see much lights). More importantly, our guide John was an excellent tour guide. Not only did he explain things well to us and looked after us throughout the activity, he also made the trip so much fun! My 10 yr old son sat behind him on the snowmobile and had such a blast!
Not a cheap experience but well worth it. Also far cheaper than the one organised by our tour operator. We were picked up from the cruise terminal by our lovely guide John and taken out into the middle of nowhere. Had it not been so cloudy we’d have had perfect conditions for the northern lights. We were kitted out in the correct gear; mittens, balaclava, socks, helmet, boots and suit before having a safety briefing about the snowmobiles. We were taken out along a pre determined path through the forest with a couple of stops to hear more about the northern lights. Roger was so knowledgeable and along with John they looked after all of us brilliantly (sorting out the snowmobile when I managed to get it stuck in deep snow!). You then get the chance to swap drivers (as long as you both have a valid driving licence). After whizzing through the forest you go back to the lodge for a hot drink and a snack before being taken back to your pick up point. Overall this was a superb trip - just wish I’d got the hang of it sooner!!
This was an amazing experience. Rodger, our guide was very knowledgeable and after watching the sky for a few hours, he guided us to Aurora Bliss.
What an amazing experience from start to finish. This excursion was the highlight of our 15 day cruise and was booked independently from the Ship’s excursions. We were picked up from the Cruise Terminal, on time, driven to the lodge where we were fully kitted out in Arctic clothing. There was a full induction on how to drive the Snowmobile. At the Top we were treated with a hot local drink, which was amazing as well as samples of the local chocolate. Along the way various points of interest were pointed out. We even experienced heavy snow showers on route. The night ended with a tour of the lodge and. on our way back to the cruise terminal Jakub stopped the Van at a site where we were able to view the Northern Lights. Highly recommend 👍 Would love to stay at the Lodge independently at some point 😊
The equipment was first class the pre-brief was fantastic, Rogers knowledge of the aurora was first class. The trip was fine but just seemed to much like a trail route well used and not really what I expected.
Absolutely fantastic! Rodger was so helpful and full of information about the Northern lights. We stopped part way to the lodge when he saw a good clear spot and we actually got a fantastic show of lights! Rodger provided us with hot drinks and helped us with taking good photos. We then continued our journey to the lodge and got onto the snowmobiles for a breathtaking journey to the top of the mountain with another show of the Northern lights on our way back down! He then got us back to our ship in the nick of time to sail off to our next destination. I would 100% recommend doing this!
The guide Rodger was great. Very professional. Unfortunately no lights, but that's nature I guess. Was one of the best experiences in my life. Highly recommend and would definitely do again
Although we didn’t see the northern lights it was great fun on the snowmobiles. Excellent helpful guides.
The crew was very patient and responsible. It was a great experience and enjoyed ourselves despite no luck with the Northern lights on our trip. Thank u!
Impresive tour in the middle of nowhere from Gargia Lodge to Beskades under a cloudless sky full of stars. WONDERFUL. Guide very friendly.
Excellent host fantastic experience, unfortunately cloudy night, lights didn't come out to play. That was the only disappointment (we know that's luck of the draw) putting that aside good time had by all. Freezing at -20 at top of mountain
Everything was perfect and really well organized. We were the only booked people that day so we ended up getting a private tour which was super fun and quite an adventure. It was cloudy and snowing so no lights but since we saw the lights another day already, this was actually better because these conditions created a very unbelievable and surreal atmosphere high up the mountain. Our guides, Marion and Jakub, were super helpful, very nice, and they told us many interesting facts as well as gave us tips on what else to do around the area.
Even though the weather conditions stopped us from actually seeing the northern lights, the snowmobile driving experience was unforgettable thanks to our guides, Marion and Jakub, who were an absolute delight to travel with: knowledgeable, engaging and always safety conscious. Highly recommended.
The trip was a one of a kind adventure! Winterwonderland under the moonlight, sky full of stars, the utter remoteness; it was like being on a different planet. It was an absolute treath that the northern lights were dancing between the stars. The scooters are very comfortable to drive thanks to the heating and Annichen explains very clearly how to drive them and checks up on everyone regularly. She is a highly experienced guide with a great character to make the adventure even better. This really is both an adventurous as well as a magically calming experience!!
We have Thomas to ourselves the night we booked our snowmobile adventure! He is very detail oriented on the safety and operation of the snowmobile! We follow him on the ride. He will stop at every challenging point and tells us what to do! Even we didn’t see any Northern Lights but the ride was so wonderful and fun!
Great tour guides - everything well organized! We were lucky and saw the Northern Lights dancing - an unforgettable natural spectacle
For anyone who would like to go snowmobiling for aurora borealis hunting, we were totally thrilled. Unfortunately, we did not see any aurora borealis as it snowed extremely. The guides were also great 👍
Je nach Witterung sieht man keine Nordlichter. Der Ausflug ist wie beschrieben in englisch. Dir Ausrüstung ist top und es lohnt sich! Einfach ein Erlebnis.
It was an impressive experience. Our guide made everything possible to see the Northern Lights. Highly recommended.
The ride was really great but I wouldn't call it a search for aurora borealis. A quick stop, no northern lights to see and then back. But the fun with the snowmobile was great.
We did whale watching with the agency, the Snowmobile Tour, Husky Sleigh Ride and the Northern Lights Tour during the day and were totally enthusiastic about everything. Super guides, great and very sympathetic team!
Monday evening, 2 people over 60 with motorcycle but no snowmobile driving experience booked a night snowmobile tour - the evening is here, joyful excitement and the meeting with our guide Line from ÆVENTYR... her friendly, competent and precise way of answering our questions made us excited for the tour. The talk about the Northern Lights got us in the mood for the snowmobiles - hunting for them. After getting dressed, we went to the snowmobiles, where Line briefly explained how to handle them. And then the tour started... which Line made a great adventure with her competent guiding.
A really great adventure. We were picked up from the port and taken to the lodge. Everyone was incredibly nice and it was really familiar. After a briefing we went to Finnmarksvidda for 2 hours. Unfortunately, we didn't see any Northern Lights, but still everything was great. Thanks to the team.
We were with the Aida in Alta and did a private snowmobile tour with Vegard! We were picked up directly from the ship and taken to the super nice lodge! Here we got warm suits and, after a thorough briefing, took the snowmobiles into the wilderness and discovered the Northern Lights! The tour was very professionally organized and we felt very comfortable! I highly recommend!!! Have fun
