The moon was too bright to see the lights but it was still an exceptional night. The dogs were so affectionate, the staff was genuinely friendly and the food was great.

Itinerary
Experience an authentic evening in the Arctic wilderness, just 30 minutes from Alta city centre, where Arctic nature, history and huskies come together beneath the Northern Lights. Here you will meet our kennel of around 40 huskies – energetic and friendly Arctic dogs that love attention. Our guides will introduce you to the history of dog sledding, life with huskies, and how a sled dog team works. You will meet and greet the dogs, take photos, and experience the special connection between people and these remarkable animals. After visiting the kennel, we move into the warm and atmospheric gamme, a traditional Sámi-style hut, where food is served around the open fire. The main course is a traditional Arctic stew, inspired by the meals once served along the historic travel routes across Finnmark. During dinner, your guide will share stories about the northern lights and how this special lights have impacted us and the culture over tousen of years. As the evening grows darker the Northern Lights can appear, you may witness one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena—green and purple ribbons of light dancing across the Arctic sky, far away from the city lights.

Reviews
perfect guide the dogs were so sweet and lovely lucky to see the borealis it was so cold, but the clothes were perfect for us
We booked the meeting with the huskies and the subsequent viewing of the northern lights and were thrilled. The transfer was punctual and would have also picked us up from the cruise terminal. They were also happy to drop us off there. The lodge with the dogs is super cozy and beautiful. The couple who welcomed us was totally lovely, and we learned a lot about the dogs. We were equipped with thick snowsuits, boots, and gloves so that we would not get cold, would not get dirty from the dogs, and would not smell like them. During the explanation, there was hot blueberry syrup, and after cuddling with the dogs, we were served a stew with homemade bread and fresh apple cake in a traditional Sami tent by candlelight. In front of the tent was a campfire, and we had the chance to view the northern lights.
