Nelson was a relaxed guide, taking his time. His good relationship with each horse showed. My horse, Amore (?) Was relaxed and well behaved!The trail was stunning, beach, sand dunes, cliff trails,stunning. We were out for a good 1h30 and it was spectacular, thank you. 100% recommend

Great views and very enjoyable ride.

PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END!!!! I really wish I could give this a good review because the views were so beautiful however this tour was very unsafe and could have resulted in multiple members getting injured. the guide seemed off put by us having no experience even though we had read tons of accounts of people having this tour be their first ride. the guide asked us which horse we would like and we asked which is good for beginners. she then proceeded to put me on a clearly untrained young horse (6 years) and i was told “i would have to stop it from biting” both mine and others feet and other horses. the entire trip the horse was freaking out and on several accounts tried to tip me off of him, making the trip uncomfortable. the guide, who offered limited conversation and knowledge about the area, seemed very unable to control the group of horses. she also seemed peeved by some of our questions about the horses. because the tour guide seemed a bit inexperienced, she put the only experienced person in our group as basically a second tour guide as she was told to help my friends horse through the water while the tour guide was helping me because i literally was about to get bucked off? i can’t even make this up but because the tour guide didn’t have a hold of the group, my friend’s (who’s also a beginner) horse wanted to swim and started rolling around in the water (WHILE MY FRIEND IS ON IT), causing her to get her feet stuck in the buckles while rolling around to end up in the river almost being crushed by the rolling horse. tour guide had to leave me to help my friend and laughed it off even though it left my friend sore and could have been extremely dangerous. the tour guide revealed that she knew that the horse would play in the water and failed to give instructions on how to control or keep a close eye out. again, the views were beautiful but this activity was extremely dangerous for multiple members of our group.

Could not expect a better way to spend our last day! Nelson was very caring (and funny too) and we felt very safe, even being the first time riding a horse. And what beautiful calm horses! So well taken care of! The views are stunning and after the nervousness fell away (quite quickly really) such immense joy and happiness! We highly recommend it, surely unforgettable!!

My wife and I have travelled far and wide, with loads of wonderful experiences along the way - and horse riding with Carrapateira Extreme Tours is most definitely up there with the best of them! Neither of us had any riding experience but we were immediately put at ease by our Guide, Wilson, who selected two gentle horses for us to ride, talked us through the whole process of mounting and how to hold the reins etc.. Then we off towards the amazing sand dunes and beach at Carrapateira. I won't go into a step-by-step report on what we saw because I highy, highly recommend that if you are anywhere near, you try it for yourself - I promise you will not regret it! All I will say, is a HUGE thank you to Wilson, who could not have been more accommodating or friendly - and for taking loads of videos as we rode. If we ever get back to Carrapateira, we will definitely be seeing you again!

The horses are beautiful and clearly cared for with love and passion. I booked this as a gift for my husband, and he absolutely loved it. We will definitely be back!

This is oke of the best choices for a trip at the algarve you can make! We were a little unsure because we are no experianced riders. But Nelson is the best guide, he knows, understands and controlls his horses - and loves them, which was also very important to us. The tour provides absolutely breathtaking views, and an expreriance you wont ever forget - all from the back of the horse. We came there from Albufeira because we read all the reviews carefully and we were not disappointed! We absolutely loved it! Also Nelson grew up in that area, so he can tell you a lot of interesting facts about the surroundings. Just dont forget sunscreen if its a sunny day and you will have the best time!

I wish I could rate this experience more than 5 because it was so phenomenal. The owner has so much passion for his horses, and has such incredible storytelling from experiences. I will be recommending this company and any other experiences offered to friends and family because I had such an amazing time. I will definitely be rebooking when I visit Portugal again! Such an amazing experience I can’t stop talking about it, the owner cares greatly for the customers experience and passion for the art of horses. The owner has phenomenal advice to give both personal and in regard to horses, he’s extremely experienced, friendly and passionate. Be open to learning, and make sure you’re respectful to the owner and the animals! Be humble and respectful, listen well and have an amazing time! 😊

This was the first activity I booked for us for our holiday to Albufeira, which is just over an hour away by car. The drive in itself is worth it, you see so much of what I imagine is ‘real’ Portugal. I’ve been learning to ride the last year and my other half has never even sat on a horse before (in fact, he would even say he was a bit scared!) but both of us absolutely adored it. The horses are beautiful, steady and have their own wonderful and unique personalities. We got to see so much more than you would have on a standard tour, unspoilt and amazing landscapes. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly - bonus points for the gorgeous dog that joined us too!

I had hoped to ride a Luistano and Olive (as I nicknamed her) is a young well-tempered Luistano! Our guide was amazing. He’s a seasoned professional rider who offered advice and tips on horseback riding on the tour! And the scenery was lovely; the sunset in the beach was beautiful was promised. We got to canter on the beach as we were both experienced riders. Those horses love to go!

We had such an amazing experience with Carrapateira Extreme Tours! This was our first time horseback riding, and it couldn’t have gone better. The horses were incredibly calm and well-trained. Our tour guide was so kind, fun, and easy to talk to. He made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal, and you could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great time. He even extended our ride a bit since there wasn’t anyone scheduled after us, which we really appreciated. The scenery was absolutely stunning—so peaceful and beautiful, it felt like something out of a movie. On top of that, he took photos and videos for us throughout the ride, which made it even more special to look back on. Overall, such a memorable experience and something we would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area!

It was my very first horse riding experience, and everything went perfectly! My horse was so calm and patient - she clearly knew what she was doing and made me feel completely safe. I already miss her!! Our guide was professional and attentive. She explained everything clearly and made sure everyone felt comfortable, no matter their experience level. The scenery was absolutely beautiful - breathtaking views all along the way. The hour passed far too quickly! If you’ve never tried horse riding before, this is the perfect place to start. The horses are gentle, the guide is great, and the whole experience leaves you smiling long after it’s over^^

An amazing evening riding horses on Bordiera Beach in Portugal. The horses were great and well taken care of. Our guide Beatrix was very personable. She shared her love for the horses as well as Portugal and the area around. It was magical riding over the dunes, through the pine forests, to cliffs overlooking the ocean and finally across the beach at sunset. Beatrix took over 70 pics plus videos of the ride that she shared with us after the ride. This was great so we could enjoy the ride. We were fortunate that the whole group were experienced riders so we were able to have an exhilarating gallop across the beach. A memory we will cherish forever.

Bea was a great guide and horsewoman! Her horses were well cared for, healthy, and easy to ride. She was very thoughtful about matching us up with each horse. She took tons of photos of us on the ride, as well as videos, so that we could focus on our riding and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thank you Bea for a wonderful afternoon - we would definitely tour with you again if we return to the area in the future. Obrigado!

Nice tour and very nice guy. To gallop on the beach during the sunset is priceless. The view from the rock over the beach is breathtaking. Next year we will do again for sure.

I had a private 1 hour tour of the stunning coastline which amazing. My guide was very knowledgeable and the horses are very well looked after. We had some lovely trots and a little canter which was perfect for myself and the beautiful horse I ride called Joanna. Next time I'll definitely book the sunset tour. Thanks so much !

False advertisement your not actually brought to the beach to ride on the beach with the horses. Horses were vaccinated and still be used on tours even though apparently can’t be pushed. The owner was abusive. Complete money racket.

The best bucket list experience ever. The whole time myself and my friend were riding we literally could not stop smiling. My cheeks are still hurting 😅 I can’t explain how happy I felt. It was so breathtaking. This experience is good for both beginners and the more advanced/pros. I have been riding my whole life and let me tell you… this was something else. I’m smiling just writing this review. Nelson is the best tour guy. He is so laid back and such a cool person to chat to. He really cares about his horses and will make sure that they are well enough to do the tour and what I mean by that is e.g. the horse he was meant to ride with us had a couple of bites from another horse and he straight away cleaned and sprayed it and swapped his horse for another. You’re probably thinking why on earth am I putting this in the review but for some people like myself this would mean a lot to know that the horses are ACTUALLY cared for because let me tell you - not all places actually care about the horses… it’s all about the money these days but not for Nelson. He will always put his animals first which made the ride even better for us knowing that his horses are very well cared for and are not in pain. 🐴 The best ride ever 🫶🏽❤️ I would recommend this to anyone wanting to do something like this. Please try it and you will see it for yourself ☺️ Have fun !!!!!

The horse riding was amazing! We didn’t go near the beach because the horses can get a little wild in the water, which honestly just added to the fun. Our guide was fantastic – she clearly knows horses very well and made us feel comfortable and safe the whole time. The trip was both relaxing and beautiful. Definitely worth every penny!

AMAZING from start to finish. Processing to go was smooth, ample instruction to get riding, our guide Bea was superior and the scenery beginning and at sunset was nothing short of spectacular. Highly reco.mend the sunset ride as you watch the landscape change colors before your eyes.

It was beautiful and we saw a side of the coast that we did not know was possible to ride along. Nelson was really friendly and a great guide. He catered to our riding experience and we had loads of trots and canters. What a beautiful part of the world.

This was such a fun experience! The ride along the beach and cliff line offered amazing views! The horses were were well tempered and clearly well taken care of and loved (I’m overly observant of the health and welfare conditions in tours that involve animals) Nelson was a wonderful guide. Funny and warm, he put my partner at ease as an inexperienced rider. One of our favorite parts of the tour was Nelson’s dog who accompanied us along the way stopping to fish and when unsuccessful, he ran to the beach hut for some ham before rejoining our group. It kept us smiling the whole time. Would highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique way to soak in the beautiful views of the Bordeira Beach and surround cliffs and sand dunes.

Booked a riding tour and we loved every moment, I am an experienced horse rider and it was the first time riding for my partner and it suited us both. I was allowed to canter up through the dunes. Our guide Beatrice was extremely friendly and the horses are very well looked after.

We just had the most amazing time with Nelson and his horses on the 2 hour beach ride! The location is perfect, the landscape varied and Nelson a very lovely and fun guide. Most importent: the horses were in absolute best condition, healthy, fit and well trained! This trip was mesmerising! It was absolutely beautiful the tour guide Nelson was fantastic, so kind, understanding, patient and accommodating towards us as beginners, I would recommend this to beginners and experienced horse riders. The horses joelean were beautiful and so well behaved! I loved every second and wish I could go back again! Will definitely try to do this again if I come to Portugal again. This was the highlight of our trip. Thank you Nelson! You were amazing!

What an unforgettable experience! The horses are happy and very well cared for, immaculate tack, comfy saddles. Nelson is very gentle and obviously a great animal lover. The route was amazing, such vistas! I’m an experienced rider and it was lovely to trot and canter on a well behaved horse. It really was the best experience of my algarve holiday, I would most definitely recommend.

Amazing beach ride on lovely horses. We rode though the Dunes and and the wonderful beach of Praia da Bordeira. If you are an experienced rider and are able to canter it's even more fun.

Our tour guide Nelson was incredible. The one-hour tour actually lasted 90 minutes, which was great. Our horses were awesome (all mares) - very easy to ride, gentle, and intimately familiar with the trail. We climbed a hill through the dunes amid stunning beaches and cliffs below. This area is gorgeous. We highly recommend this tour.

Our family spent the afternoon with the surf lessons followed by the sunset horseback ride. It was such a fun experience for us all! The surf instructor remembered all of our names and was extremely patient, ensuring that we all had lots of opportunities to catch a wave and stand up. The horses were well trained and everyone was comfortable riding as beginners. The dunes and sunset views on this beach are spectacular! I would definitely recommend!

Nelson was a great guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable, he guided us for a tour that took a little longer than the scheduled time along Bordeira and the adjoining cliffs, describing the surroundings, including the abandoned fishing port. Tarzan, the dog, played also a big part in the tour, as he wandered on and off the trail to take a swim in the creek and run around the surrounding wilderness.

My daughter had the 1 hour horse riding tour and absolutely loved it, she is a somewhat experienced rider. She said the views were amazing and the guide Nelson is a lovely man, highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time and would recommend this tour. The horses were calm and beginner friendly, which made the beautiful views even easier to enjoy. Our guide was welcoming and took plenty of photos of my parter and I to remember the scenic trip. The beach in this area is also large, accessible and stunning. Great way to see the cliffs.
