This surf lesson was excellent! Our instructor Arthur went over all the safety instructions and he ensured we all felt very comfortable in the water. It was lots of fun and my two friends and I really enjoyed the experience despite not being amazing at surfing since it was our first time. The only thing I would recommend changing is having a smaller group in the water since there were a lot of people in our section which made it tricky at times to avoid bumping into others. Otherwise would definitely recommend!

Every once in a while you stumble on a gem and this is exactly what the salty beach team is! Artur and Joao had us riding whitewater on day 1 and greener waves on day 3. Not only me but my 16yo daughter who was absolutely delighted (and we all know that’s an amazing feat in itself)! My wife could not participate because of a prior injury and Rodrigo the owner refunded me just as advertised. Pick-up was on time, beaches were incredible, explanations and assistance in the water were clear and flawless, what else can I say? Obrigado!

What a wonderful adventure! The experienced instructors explained everything in detail and stayed with us in the ocean the whole time, helping us get on our boards and have a great time!

I’d wanted to try surfing for a long time, and this year my dream finally came true. I received the details about the meeting place the night before, just as described. The lesson took place at a beautiful beach in Lagos, about a half-hour away. I met the organizer there. The whole experience was very simple and hassle-free. The group size of about 8 people was manageable. The surf instructor explained the most important techniques to us and gave us some safety tips and information on how to best handle the board. Overall, the theory wasn’t too extensive. After a short warm-up and some dry land exercises, we headed straight into the water. The surf instructor was in the water with us, which made us feel safe the whole time. He supported everyone well and gave individual tips as needed. In the end, everyone managed to catch a wave at least once, and I also caught a few waves myself. It was a great experience that stayed with me for a few more days—thanks to the sore muscles. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

The waves weren’t great but I still enjoyed the private lesson I got. Filippe, the instructor, tired his best to find decent waves to surf and the beach was bra Very well organise school - I recommend.

Amazing surf school! The instructors were super friendly, patient, and always happy to help. They explained everything clearly, and I improved much faster than I expected. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and I had a great time. Highly recommend this surf school to anyone who wants to learn or improve their surfing!

Marcos was an amazing instructor who helped me learn how to read the waves and catch them all by myself on my second time surfing ever! Admittedly I only managed to stand like 5% of the time but he had very actionable useful advice every time. He was even kind enough to take pictures and videos at the end of the session when asked. Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn how to surf!

After trying to surf with Salty Waves Surf school back in August I loved it and had to come back again in October. It was the highlight of my vacation and now trying it for the second time it was even better. Very professional place and great instructors. They made me fall in love with surfing. Taking my surf lessons with Salty Wave was a great decision for this 60 year old dude just starting his surfing journey. I always wanted to learn to surf, so we planned our trip to the Algarve with that in mind. My first lesson was exhilarating. My 14th lesson just as cool. Instructor Marcos shared his knowledge and kept us safe in the process. There's nothing like being on water catching waves. I will always be greatful to Marcos and Salty Wave for such a great experience and helping me start and grow on my surfing journey.

The trip started off with zero guidance or greeting from the surf instructor Marcos. We were constantly being talked down to and made to feel like babies. When I forgot to do something I was yelled at. He had zero patience and made inappropriate comments during the class. He obviously knew how to surf well but seems like he didn’t want to teach and took out his anger on all the students he’s ever had on us. Disappointing to have a first surf experience like this when I think a surf instructor should be happy, fun, and encouraging.

First ever surf class with Marcos and only positive feedback - he really took the time to explain the foundations of surfing and so supportive when we hit the waves. Was really pleasantly surprised we were both standing on the 1st lesson. Great fun, would def recommend to anyone.

I had an amazing experience taking surf lessons with Marcos in Luz. He went beyond the basics, quickly identifying my weaknesses and helping me improve where other schools had failed. Thanks to his guidance, I finally learned how to catch green waves and progressed past the advanced beginner level. Marcos is by far the best surf instructor I’ve had—his teaching goes beyond standard tips, including surf etiquette and how to handle different situations in the water. Highly recommend!

Very fun and a great way to exercise. They reply quickly and aim to adjust to your needs and location to pick you up. Their lessons are very hands on and while it can be very challenging at the beginning, it’s also very engaging.

Super experience with two very good teachers. Despite zero knowledge I managed to stand a few waves. The outfit and the board were good - the trip to the beach was save. I can recommend that school to anyone, who wants a successful surf experience in his/her life and has the luck to be near to salty wave crew area.

Friendly, knowledgable and fun. They are incredibly experienced, have such a love of surfing but are also great teachers. I felt really supported and really got a feel for the sport. They had great reviews and I was so happy I booked with them.

During my vacation in Lagos, I tried surfing for the first time. The experience was really cool. Communication went smoothly (whatsapp). Even messages that were actually written after working hours were answered. Short-term weather-related changes to the surf spot were announced in good time. The lesson took place in the morning and began with a general introduction to the sport of surfing. Gradually, the theoretical part moved on to the practical part, so that the first exercises could also be tried out in the sea. In a second block, they tried to get on the board with the help of a wave and - if you can call it that - to surf. The instructors (Marcos and Rodrigo) were first class. They were witty, competent, gave constant assistance and were a well-coordinated team (both have known each other for years) and knew how to inspire the lesson participants. Anyone worried that the first lesson would be too theoretical can rest assured. This is not the case. I really enjoyed this sport and will certainly continue to work on my skills. It was a very pleasant lesson, the teachers were amazing: patient, funny, well prepared and very engaging! Even if it was a one-day lesson, me and my girlfriend have learned the basic tips to approach to this beautiful sport. We recommend Salty Wave Surf School to a real surf experience in Algarve

I did two lessons at the school. It was really fun and I've learned a lot. The coaches were really nics and always gave tips to improve yourself. I would definitel y do it again.

My 16 yr old son and I had surf lessons with salty wave surf school and had the best time! Both of us were beginners and they took the time to explain all the basics to us and let us ask lots of questions. The instructors were both excellent and had a ton of knowledge and experience. Would definitely suggest doing at least 2 days at least, as the second day is where you really get up and get to ride some waves!

These guys make you want to leave your daily life behind and go surfing every day. An incredible experience on a breathtaking beach. Marcos, one of the two instructors, patiently explained every single detail to ensure our safety and a successful first approach to the waves and the board. Unfortunately, due to my planned vacation, I could only take one lesson, otherwise, I would have been with them every day. I will definitely continue practicing this wonderful sport in Italy

My 14 year old son Jake had 3 lessons with Marcos and Rodrigo, from the start you could tell this was a very professionally run surf course, excellent communications from booking to saying goodbye. Jake went from a complete beginner to being able to stand up in first lesson and surfing by 3rd lesson! He really enjoyed it, the instructors spoke excellent English, they were patient, clear and encouraging. The groups weren’t too big (Jake’s was no more than 3). Rodrigo advised on the time and location the night before, we were at Praia do Cardoama for all 3 lessons, this is a stunning beach on the west coast and well worth the early start.

We did a group course for beginners for 3 days. Our surf instructors Marcos and Nuno were super funny and competent and gave us very good tips about our posture, which waves are good and to get a feel for how to catch a wave well. We had a lot of fun and gained a lot more security in surfing. Our highlight was taking the van to the west coast, the route through the countryside and the beach were super beautiful. The service is great, you will be picked up from your accommodation. And the surf instructors always try to go at times and places where the conditions are best for surfing. So thank you guys for that experience!

Amazing surfing lesson! I’ve been learning for a while and only in 1 class the instructor Marcos helped me to improve my stand and gave good tips about safety and surfing in Portugal. Instructor is professional (with a special sense of humour, which I share, so no a problem for me), gives special emphasis on safety measures to avoid accidents and adjust his teaching to the different levels in the group. I will definitely come back for more and recommend it to my friends!

Amazing surf school. This is our second time with this school and we were not disappointed. Both instructors were awesome, very informative and knowledgeable not only about surfing but the sea, the environment and sea life. Fun, laidback vibes. All equipment provided, picked up and dropped off right next to our accommodation. Would highly recommend this school for all levels!
