Today I thoroughly enjoyed a ride on Joanna a responsive yet safe mare. Nelson our guide was able to accommodate myself and a less experienced rider and we both had a blast and have some great memories on a beautiful beach. Would defo come again 👍🏼

Fantastic sunset beach ride! Nelson is a wonderful guide. The horses were in great shape, responsive, and nice to ride. The scenery was spectacular as we rode along sand dunes, long high cliffs looking out over the water and sunset. As I was the only one on the ride and have been riding for decades Nelson generously offered a very fun gallop along the beach. Would highly recommend to anyone - novice or experienced riders.

We can recommend this tour at 100%! It was a lot of fun and wonderful nature! Our guide Nelson was very professional and friendly! He took care of the level and tempo of me and my daughter, took amazing pictures of us and guided us with a lot of useful information about all the cliffs, the nature and the horses! We are very happy with the service and would definitely love to do the riding tour with them again when we visit Portugal again!

We really enjoyed the horse riding experience! Bea, the coach, is incredibly friendly and caring, which made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the ride. She also took many photos for us, which was a lovely bonus. The views were absolutely stunning, and we were lucky to have amazing weather on the day. The experience was relaxing and well organized, and you can even enjoy horse riding in mid-December. Highly recommended!

An amazing evening riding horses on Bordiera Beach in Portugal. The horses were great and well taken care of. Our guide Beatrix was very personable. She shared her love for the horses as well as Portugal and the area around. It was magical riding over the dunes, through the pine forests, to cliffs overlooking the ocean and finally across the beach at sunset. Beatrix took over 70 pics plus videos of the ride that she shared with us after the ride. This was great so we could enjoy the ride. We were fortunate that the whole group were experienced riders so we were able to have an exhilarating gallop across the beach. A memory we will cherish forever.

Our beach ride was amazing Beatrix was fabulous gave great instructions to beginners very help and aware if everyone’s standard in the group . The scenery was beautiful Will definitely be doing this again

Bea was a great guide and horsewoman! Her horses were well cared for, healthy, and easy to ride. She was very thoughtful about matching us up with each horse. She took tons of photos of us on the ride, as well as videos, so that we could focus on our riding and enjoy the beautiful scenery. My husband and I had an amazing time on our tour. The weather was perfect and the sunset was beautiful! We had to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances but we were able to still take our ride later in the week. 10/10 recommend!

We booked this tour via Viator and were very much looking forward to it. However, there is a weight limit for riders, and you are required to fill out the height and weight requirements of each rider upon registration. Viator nor the tour operation never informed us that 2 of us exceeded the weight limit. We showed up for the tour and were told at that time that 2 of us were not able to participate in the tour. We requested a refund for 2 of the riders but the tour operator would not refund our money since we were within the 24 hour cancellation window. NOTE: The tour operator is aware that this situation occurs and has done nothing to check the weight limitations of registered participants upon registration. You only find out when you arrive and by then it's too late. A very costly situation. The tour operation and viator should have worked out a solution for this since it has happened multiple times before.

This was truly one of the best experiences of my life! The horses were absolutely lovely and so well-behaved, which made the whole ride feel comfortable and enjoyable, even for beginners like us. The experience was beginner friendly and the instructor was fantastic, she guided us with patience and skill, making sure we felt confident throughout. She also took amazing photos for us along the way, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you’re ever in Lagos, this is a must-try experience. Riding through the beautiful surroundings with such gentle horses and a great guide made it unforgettable. Highly recommend!

The guide was excellent and the ride with the views were unbelievable. I had gotten a flat getting there and the guide was great in helping me and calm me so I still enjoyed the great excursion

This was an excellent horse riding experience. We rode among the sand dunes with the most fantastic views of the ocean, beaches and cliffs. I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves horses and the outdoors.

This a very well ran business who genuinely cares for the horses and the people riding. The horses are so well taken care of and well behaved. I have ridden several times but only on vacation so my experience was low. Even so, we trotted, cantered and galloped on the beach at sunset. It was thrilling and I felt safe. Bea is a lovely lead who made the experience very special taking pictures and ensuring we were comfortable. Thank you, Bea! The scenery is breathtaking. I would love to do it again!

This was a spectacular experience! Our guide was knowledgeable, the horses were calm, and the views were incredible. Our small group of 4 were the only ones on the beach! I would 100% go back over and over again.

This was an absolutely brilliant experience, and it’s a really beautiful ride passing up past the beach and around the headland which is all totally stunning. The horses were well behaved and sweet. We had a wonderful tour guide too, who was really helpful and clearly loves her job, as she definitely should! Couldn’t recommend the tour more, it was a total pleasure from start to finish. An absolute highlight.

Got cancelled due to strong winds, lol. The staff were friendly though, so I suppose it's a great experience when there's no wind whatsoever. 😃

**Amazing Experience!** I had the most incredible horseback riding experience with my girlfriend last Saturday. Our guide, Nelson, was simply fantastic! He was not only professional but also extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He took us to some breathtaking spots that we would never have discovered on our own. The horses, Jolie and Amora, were absolutely wonderful—gentle, well-trained, and full of character. They made the ride comfortable and enjoyable for both of us, even as beginners. The entire experience lasted almost two hours, and every moment was memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to come back!

Unfortunately, it rained the day of our ride and we weren't able to reschedule due to our itinerary. Bea from Carrapateira Extreme Tours did reach out to us to let us know - being a horse person myself, I completely understood the situation. They refunded us quickly. I would not hesitate to give it another try with them when we return!

Even though was bit of a drive was well worth experiencing an the tour guide was amazing horses were so well maintained and behaved heck was also adventurous definitely recommend

The ride was really fun. Nelson was a great tour guide. Really knowledgeable. He advised us not to ride on our day because of the wind but due to travel I couldn't reschedule. He still accommodated us. It was really windy but it was still fun. Rode up the mountain and down to the beach. We we're accompanied by his dog Tarzan. He was our little guard dog heading out first to check for dangers. Loved Tarzan, definitely recommend for anyone.

This tour is one of my favorite experiences in all of Portugal! It's a little bit out of the way from Lagos and other larger towns in the Algarve, but that just makes all the more enjoyable! The beach and dunes go on for ages and riding there at sunset is simply magical! The horses are so beautiful and obviously very well cared for. And the guide takes all the pictures for you, so you can really just enjoy the ride and the beautiful scenery around you. 10/10, would recommend!!!

Do not miss out on this excursion! Nelson was amazing. The horses were all clearly well cared for and well fed (I will not go through with anywhere they don’t take care of their horses). The landscape is beautiful! Myself and another rider who are experienced were able to go for a gallop along the beach , my boyfriend who is very much a novice was able to have a small supervised trot and walk. We will be coming to Portugal again and will for sure be booking this again

This was a dream come true experience. I had contacted a number of places and asked about riding on the beach. All of which, told me that it wasn’t possible until Carrapateira. We opted to do the 2 hour ride and it did not disappoint. The terrain over the 2 hour duration was varied and breathtaking! Of course the highlight was the beach at the end. The waves were big and dramatic and the sunset was perfect. Our guide Bea took over 100 AMAZING photos of us and Airdropped them to us before leaving. There were a few opportunities for little canters but likely more if my husband had more experience. The ride was private so it was just the two of us and Bea which was also perfect. The horses were also well cared for and clearly loved.

The horseback ride in Carrapateira passing by Bordeira beach was a moment of uncontainable beauty, amazement and explosive nature! I and my husband had chosen a sunset ride but just that afternoon the sun (which always shines in the Algarve!) decided to give way to a diffuse and soft fog that gave us a completely unexpected and magical atmosphere... feeling at one with nature on the saddle of a sweet horse, walking on the sand, wrapped in the soft fog, with only the sound of the waves and the scents of the plants around is something you can't describe... an experience to try absolutely! A special thanks to Bea, our guide, who accompanied us through this landscape telling us the characteristics of the horses that were entrusted to us and explaining the characteristics of the place. After the first steps we immediately felt confident with the horses, Bea was always attentive at every step, she is truly an excellent guide and loves her horses very much! Absolutely recommended experience for the perfect organization of the operator, punctuality and, above all, for an exciting contact with nature and horses ... one of a kind! Thanks and compliments to the whole team!

Planned half my trip around this excursion after seeing reviews of how well looked after the horses are. The system double booked my original ride but they made sure to fit me in and Bea was a great guide! The views are amazing and the horses SO well behaved — so much so that I booked a second ride for my trip!

Fantastic tour with Bea. 2nd time for me and both times the best horseback walk ever done. The horses are being very well treated, as I would them to be but which is often not the case. The surroundings are stunning and lots of sights you can’t access on foot. Very professional handling of bookings as well.

This was organised for my daughters birthday and her horse riding friends and they loved every minute of it. Nelson was all about safety first as he wasnt sure how experienced they were but once he saw they were comfortable on the horses and could see they were very experienced he let them gallop on the beach which was the highlight of their trip!! This was a once in a lifetime experience. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and made the tour so much better, and riding the horses on the beach and through the nature preserve was nothing short of amazing. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves nature or an adventure!

I highly recommend this company. The horses, tack and location are excellent. We did the beach ride and it was amazingly beautiful and a truly once in a lifetime experience. The owner was very fun, and safety was his highest concern. I have never had such great livery horses- they were very responsive and trained.

At first we were reluctant to "dive in" into this magnificent experience as none of us ever rode a horse before. We eventually mustered up our courage and we booked a horse riding tour with Carrapateira Extreme Tours. Nelson went above and beyond in making us feel comfortable and relaxed. Duna and Iris were amazing, gentle and a loyal companion; always ready and eager to please us. We had a wonderful two hour ride with Eduardo - he was very educational about the area and Portugal in general and adapted to our novice pace. The horses have great temperament and the brown dog shadowed our walk going fishing at one point in the shallows - The view and the beach here is amazing - not high density as some of the south coast seems to be, more rural and quiet. We will definitely be back for a longer stay and include more horseback riding!

Our guide Jago was great! We took the most beautiful path through town then over sand dunes to a beautiful area that overlooked the beach. Jago held my friends horses so I could gallop as they were less experienced riders. It was incredible galloping on the beach and when I turned back I let my horse take the reins for a very fast gallop! A once in a lifetime experience!! Thanks to Jago!!!

I am an experienced equestrian and was delighted to see how healthy and athletic the horses were. That is most important to me for any horseback experience. I was also very happy with my guide Diago. He was not only a very accomplished horseman but a delight to chat with on our ride. The scenery was exquisite and the beach beyond magnificent. We had a lovely gallop which was an unexpected delight for me. I am sure any person , no matter what their horseback riding experience is, will be kept safe and met at your level of riding experience!!

My 12 yo daughter and I did the sunset ride - absolutely stunning, unforgettable. Best enjoyed if not total beginner (ascent/descent in sand), horses and guide are safe, galloping down the beach was amazing! Special place with gorgeous views. Guide took lots of pics, videos he sent to me that evening. Amazing!!!

Myself and my daughter had the most wonderful experience riding along the Atlantic coast in Portugal. It will be a memory myself and my daughter will cherish forever. The pace is pitched at your ability and whist it is not "cheap", it is well worth the money. We intend to ride out with "Johanna" and "Joeline" when we are next in Portugal. It is always a good sign when strangers are taking pictures of you having an experience! Highly recommended.
