Boat Trip To The Grottos At Ponta Da Piedade, Lagos

Great tour. The coastline is beyond breathtaking. The boats are small enough to get into a lot of the caves. I would say try to go at high tide, they can get into more caves at high tide.

Excellent tour! Knowledgeable tour guides! The drivers skill in boat operation was amazing. He was able to get the boat in all the caves even with the waves being a little rough. Highly recommend this tour.

We had a great time on this boat trip. There were only about a dozen of us in the boat. Very safe, you do not get wet at all. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and our boat captain navigated tight spaces with ease. Great way to see this beautiful landscape.

What a fun, interesting, hilarious excursion. We loved this trip! There were only 7 people on this 9 passenger boat so there was plenty of room. The two people who manned this trip were warm, informative, and so funny. Because we were on a small boat we were able to go into all of the caves, ask endless questions, learn so much of the coastal rock formations. I highly recommend this excursion. The beautiful coastline in unforgetable!

These guys had such great control of the boat - they were really able to get into all the caves, through small arches etc. And fun “speedboat” ride on way back!

Our guide and driver were excellent.

10/10 experience. We took our 1.5 year old with us and felt safe every moment of the trip. Knowledgable and friendly guides. We even considered doing it again the next day because of how much we loved it! This is a MUST if you’re in Lagos. Traveled to over 40 countries and this will be among one of the most memorable experiences.

We had good weather on top of the beautiful coastal scenery - a bonus! But the icing on the cake was our driver and guide. The driver was exceptionally skilled at manoeuvring the boat, and our guide was informative and funny. A favourite excursion for us.

Awesome experience! Highly recommended for all ages. Loved exploring the grottos and stacks from the water. Completely different experience than the hike along the boardwalk. Do both!

Despite being unable to go into the grotto due to big surf, the tour operator provided us with a fun experience. We were able to get close to the grotto without actually going in. The captain of our boat was experienced and navigated the surf without incident. It was an enjoyable experience & I think our group would do it again!

The cliffs were majestic and riding into the caves and through the arches were amazing. Boat operator and guide were very good.

Really nice 1 hour trip with a bit of history and geology of Lagos thrown in for good measure.

John & Igor were fantastic. Water was a bit choppy but we had such a great time. They made the most of it and we were laughing for the full hour.

Worth while. Take a smaller boat as you are able to explore a lot more of the cliffs and rock structures

You know how the hype doesn’t always match the reality. Not in this case! The water is as blue as the pictures. The caves as amazing and the coast as stunningly beautiful. Our guides were entertaining and knowledgeable. Take a smaller boat so that you can get right into the caves it’s magical.

Great trip and very enjoyable. We really enjoyed this trip, the guides were great and were very knowledgable and also humorous. The scenery and close up of the caves/grottos was fantastic.

Thanks to our tour guides Juao and Miguel for an unforgettable experience. Our group of 4 included someone hesitant about being on the water, but in no time at all we were all laughing and having the best. The tour was informative and fun, with spectacular views of the cliffs and caves from the water. We enjoyed hearing stories about every beach along the way, and going into the caves. We took so many pictures of the vibrant colours (blue, aqua of the water, and golden reds of the cliffs). To top things off, on our return Juao recommended a local fish restaurant that served the freshest sardines on the island 😋

Would be hard not to love this trip as so beautiful. Didn’t give five star rating as hard to find pickup and guide was a bit late so slightly under an hour (advertised as 1-2 hours so a bit misleading).

Clear communication with guide when time of trip was changed. This suited us as it was earlier. Easy to find meeting place and nice to have small group on boat. Helpful sorting out life jackets and helping people onto the boat and to seats. The two guides spoke all the langauges of the passengers and chatted about the sights and told stories about the cliffs and beaches which brought the trip to life. The length of the trip was perfect - plenty of time to go into the caves, bays and see the rock formations. Bonus - on the way back, the guide pointed out an oyster shack. No choice but to visit afterwards!

The experience was good. Rock formations in the area and grotto’s were good. The guides were good. For the money it’s worth it.

Definitely need to pay attention to the tides when you’re booking a trip. We were able to make it thru most spots. Rock formations were so cool. Our tour guide, Ricardo was great. He made it a fun tour and gave us many recommendations on where to go and what to eat Would definitely book it again

From start to finish this was everything we had hoped for and more. Ricardo and Miguel (sp?) were entertaining, knowledgeable and skilled. The views were breathtaking and memorable. Perfect weather added to our wonderful experience.

This was truly one of the highlights of our stay in Lagos. The grottos are beautiful and the guides, Igor and João, were so friendly and entertaining. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Algarve!

The boat driver and his assistant were great. They were friendly, personable, knowledgeable and they made the experience interesting, fun, and memorable.

My wife and I booked the Ponta da Piedade boat tour with Lagos Grotto Trips and arrived genuinely excited about the experience. Unfortunately, it began badly and became increasingly uncomfortable. As I was boarding the boat from the dock, a crew member had me step onto a small stool to get into the boat. When I put my weight on it, the stool completely collapsed beneath me. I am approximately 6'1", 185 pounds, physically fit and athletic. Fortunately, I was able to catch myself and avoid falling or injuring my ankle. Nevertheless, it was frightening and left me shaken. A piece of equipment being used to help passengers board a boat should be sufficiently stable and secure for an ordinary adult passenger. I initially tried to put the incident behind me and enjoy the excursion. During the tour, however, I became increasingly uncomfortable with the boat driver's behavior. As we approached some of the caves/grottos, which personally I did not find particularly interesting or visually impressive, the driver made a comment over the PA system along the lines of, “Some people just don't show nature the respect it deserves.” Given the circumstances and timing, the comment seemed directed at me. Then, as we were returning and docking, the driver again made remarks over the PA system about certain people being disrespectful or rude. Again, I perceived the comments as directed toward me. If the driver believed I had behaved inappropriately in some way, I would have much preferred that he simply speak to me directly and professionally. Making what appeared to be pointed comments over a PA system in front of the other passengers felt unnecessarily embarrassing and unprofessional. I was traveling with my wife and had no interest in creating a confrontation, so I simply disembarked politely. Afterward, I emailed the company explaining that I had just completed one of their excursions and wanted to speak with someone about my experience. I received no response. That lack of follow-up was especially disappointing. The initial equipment failure could have resulted in an injury, and the subsequent interaction with the driver transformed what was supposed to be an enjoyable part of our vacation into an unpleasant experience. Even if the company disagreed with my perception of the driver's remarks, I would have expected someone to respond to a customer raising a legitimate concern about both a boarding incident and the conduct of a crew member. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Lagos Grotto Trips.

Beautiful day and ideal conditions allowed us to go into the caves. Observed the steep cliffs and beaches. Guide was informative.

I’d make the behaviour itself more explicit: We were three minutes late due to an unexpected car issue, which we acknowledge. However, the staff member’s behaviour was completely inappropriate. He spoke to us in an aggressive and accusatory tone, constantly interrupted us, refused to let us explain, and repeatedly criticised and lectured us as though we were being reprimanded rather than spoken to as customers. His manner was condescending, hostile and unnecessarily confrontational. Whatever the circumstances, this is not an acceptable way to treat or communicate with clients.

This was a wonderful trip. The area is beautiful. The guides knew what they were doing with getting the boat around small areas. We definitely would recommend it.
