Boat Trip To The Caves Of Benagil

The views of the coastal caves are amazing! Miguel translated in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Get ready for a fun boat ride!

This tour was via speed boat from Lagos to several caves, including Benagil. We booked it by accident; originally we planned a kayak tour. However, given how cold the water was, with the crashing waves, we were glad that we booked the speed boat. We arrived to the caves in about 30 minutes or less. The seating on boat is very close. Everyone was packed in like sardines, however, it was still a good experience.

Great excursion! Our guide was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. We took the 9am and there was only a few others on the tour and only one other boat at the caves, more arriving as we left. Note we are here on off season. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time doing the tour of the Bengali caves. The guide was very informative and funny which made the experience even better. I would recommended this trip to anyone visiting Lagos.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had such a great time on our Benagil boat tour! The views were absolutely amazing, from the salty breeze and sparkling blue water rushing past us to the thrill of speeding across the open sea. We loved the mix of racing over the waves and slowing down to carefully explore the caves, where golden rock walls, cool shadows, and shafts of sunlight made everything feel magical. Our skipper was a true pro, making it all look effortless, while our guide brought so much energy and personality to the experience. He was knowledgeable, fun, and kept everyone engaged. What really stood out was how they took the time at the end to share some of their favorite local spots and recommendations for our time in Lagos. Such a fun and memorable experience with a fantastic crew. We would absolutely recommend it!

Fun to go on the speed boat on a calm day. The caves were amazing and seeing the coast from the water was fun. We went back to a few of the coastal town to explore after the boat ride. Dress appropriately for being on the water going fast!

The guide was very knowledgeable and funny. I would recommend wearing a sweater if going for the early morning.

We had such a great time on our boat tour in the Algarve! Nunu and Ugo were amazing. Nunu shared lots of interesting historical facts and jokes along the way, and Ugo made the speedboat ride so much fun with all the speed and turns! 😂🛥️ They were both super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a highlight of our trip and something we would highly recommend! ❤️

Brace yourself, it is a fast ride. This is a short excursion but a must do while in the area. The views are amazing, the caves are beautiful. The ride isn’t super comfy and you’re hanging on for dear life but it made it even more memorable.

The sites were amazing! We learned a lot too that helped us pick beaches for the rest of our stay! The fast boat was fun too.

Fun trip. Really great and experienced guide. The skipper was great and we got into several caves. The only drawback was that the sea was a bit rough and the boat took a beating on the way back to port.

Amazing trip to Benagil and exploring the coastline. Tour guides were excellent and made the trip exciting and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fast-track to Benagil caves!

Unfortunately they canceled our boat tour 1 hour before we were set to leave. “Unsafe conditions” were cited as the cause - if that’s the case I’m glad they canceled, however, many many other boat tours continued to leave throughout the day, so I can’t be sure. We had a small window of time in Lagos and we weren’t able to book anything else. Maybe next time!

Unbelievable experience, our guide Nuno was so hilarious and kept us entertained the whole time. You see a bunch of different caves after the Benagil Cave, was totally worth it and I'd recommend this company to anyone!

We had a wonderful time on our boat cruise with the two Hugo’s to the Bengali Caves. The guide explained all the different areas we visited. The caves are spectacular to see and the boat ride to and from the caves was really exciting. This was a highlight of our stay in Lagos.

The experience was fantastic, and the captain went above and beyond to ensure we were delighted, both with the boat excursion and the breathtaking tour of the Lagos shoreline.

This is a fast moving boat trip to give you about 50 minutes of the caves - which are beautiful! A clear day helps!!

We had a blast. Didn’t really know what was in store for us and were pleasantly surprised. Meeting place easy to find. Our guides were friendly and helpful. We motored slowly out of the marina and as soon as it was ok he hit the gas and what a blast. We hit 40 mph (clocked on my Strava app). From full speed he yanks the wheel over and threw us into a high speed turn. 360 degrees one way then back. Was really thrilling. When visiting the tunnels he would take the boat right into the tunnel. Visually spectacular really shouldn’t miss this. Was only 40€ each.

A must see for anyone visiting Algarve Region. The ride from Lagos to the caves is fast, and can be a bit rough but worth the experience.

We had a great time in the tour. The boat was very fast but also super smooth. The driver made sure to turn in both directions so that everyone got a view. The helper took photos for the group which was nice.

The team share all the highlights and safety awareness. We visited beautiful spots and we watched dolphins. We had a great time!

The tour was great fun. We were a little anxious about the zodiac ride, but it was really fun, and even at high speed felt really safe. The guide was a hoot and the caves were incredible

Great experience on the water tour! The guide had a great sense of humor, boating to the caves and cliff side was thrilling, and I really enjoyed learning about the names and background of each cave. I would highly recommend this tour!

Terrible experience! Never received a text or email that the trip was canceled. Drove 45 minutes to arrive, hard to find the location, to find out nobody was there to greet us, and oh by the way, the only way to know it was canceled was by logging into the app. Completely unacceptable.

If you are expecting a relaxing tour of the caves, this is not for you. Do not book the “VISIT TO BENAGIL” boat trip if you have anxiety, don’t enjoy adrenaline rushes, or generally like your life. If you enjoy salt water flying into your eyes while testing the limits of your hand grip strength and contemplating whether your will is up to date, you may have found your perfect excursion. The caves and coastline are beautiful, but the actual time slowing down and enjoying them was very short compared with the very fast ride there and back. No information about the caves was shared beyond their names. For me, the ride was miserable rather than fun. It was not comfortable, and the driver deliberately added a few maneuvers along the way that were clearly meant to add to the thrill. I did not need additional thrill. If bouncing across the water at high speed sounds exciting, this may be exactly your kind of trip. But if you’re picturing a relaxing, scenic boat ride where you can comfortably enjoy the coastline and caves, this is absolutely not that trip. Consider this a public service announcement for my fellow non-adrenaline people: choose a different tour. Your hands, eyeballs, and estate-planning attorney will thank you.

It’s an excellent way to see the caves and if you are lucky like we were you will even see dolphins! Are skipper was amazing, he handled the boat with ease!

Fun trip to the Algarve caves. Boat ride was fast and fun. We went at 11 am and there were many other boats and kayaks, so it was a bit crowded and we had to wait “in line” with the boat a few times. Guides were friendly.

Amazing trip! The caves were spectacular and the boat ride to and from was exhilarating. The wind was pretty strong and the waters a bit choppy but we always felt safe. Definitely recommend and would do it again.

I booked this trip for my daughter, her boyfriend and me while they were visiting me here in Portugal, and we all absolutely loved it. Everything was so well organised from start to finish. From the moment our names were called and we were shown to the boat, everything ran smoothly and we felt completely looked after throughout the whole experience. Inês and Hugo were our crew and really helped to make the trip special. They were both so friendly, welcoming and attentive, while also making it very clear that we were in experienced and capable hands. They shared information along the way and made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. It was quite windy on the day we went, so Hugo explained that he wasn’t able to do some of the side turns and manoeuvres that he would normally include. It honestly didn’t take anything away from the experience though. The boat ride itself was great fun and the coastline and caves were absolutely stunning. Seeing them from the water is something completely different and definitely something I’ll remember. I live in Portugal and had wanted to take my daughter and her boyfriend somewhere special while they were visiting, and this was such a good choice. We all came away saying how much we had enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lagos. It really is one of those experiences that’s worth doing and one to remember. Nice boat trip out to the Benagil Cave as well as some other caves. The boat driver had some fun driving and made it feel like a little roller coaster as we were starting out and finishing the tour. Tour suitable for all levels of mobility.

Nuno was an amazing, funny, and charismatic guide who had us laughing the entire ride to the caves and back. We chose the early time slot, so there weren’t many boats around, which made the experience feel much more relaxed and enjoyable. Honestly, this was one of the best tours we did on our entire trip. I highly recommend it; it was so much fun and absolutely worth the money!

We walked down to the Lagos Marina to try to find our tour group for the boat trip to the Benagil caves. We had a 9am tour time start, and we got there about 8:45am. There were many tourists standing around trying to figure out if they were in the right spot for their tour group, as there are about 7-8 different companies with tours. My recommendation is making sure you are in the right spot and look for the poles that have the company names on them. At 8:55am 2 Lagos Grotto Trip guys came up and got our groups and split us in 2 different boat groups. We had Luis as our tour guide, and he was very informative and personable. It took us about 35 min to get out to Benagil cave, and being early in the AM, there were not many boats there trying to get in, and the ocean was relatively calm. Our boat went inside the cave, and we were able to take many photos. After Benagil, we visited many more caves and scenic spots. A few caves we went far into which was cool. Overall, it was a fun experience, and the boat went fast which our group enjoyed.
