My sister and I have just returned from this hotel. It was clean, comfortable and the food good. The thing that stands out the most is the staff. They were friendly, efficient and aimed to please. What a wonderful example. I do not hesitate to recommend them.
OK hotel. Breakfast can get really busy - thankfully the staff manage to run around and cater for the volume of people - just. Another reviewer commented on a curtain instead of doors on the wardrobe. All a bit strange - better to have nothing in my opinion. Pool is on the roof. Its a fairly small pool for dipping only. Again staff make up for some deficiencies.
We had such an enjoyable stay over 5 nights. Great room, with plenty of space for 2 of us. Loved having a little balcony. Excellent variety for breakfast. Well equipped gym, great spa facilities. Adored the rooftop pool. Overall, a fantastic hotel.
I stayed at Prime Energize in Monte Gordo for one week and overall had a really good experience. The service was great throughout my stay, every member of staff I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable, but a few small improvements would make a big difference. There weren’t enough hangers or wall hooks, which made it difficult to hang clothes and towels. Housekeeping was a bit inconsistent, mugs weren’t cleaned for several days, coffee sachets and water weren’t always replenished, and bins were sometimes left full for a few days. That said, the cleaners themselves were always kind and polite but there’s room for improvement. Breakfast was one of the highlights. There was a great variety of food, with fresh juice daily and a nice selection of fruits that changed each day. The only downside was the coffee machine, which didn’t produce very good coffee, possibly in need of a proper clean. The gym was well-equipped and enjoyable to use, and the indoor pool was decent and warm. It would be even better if there were showers nearby, as it feels a bit uncomfortable knowing people may enter without rinsing off. It also gets quite warm in that area due to the sauna, so a cold shower would really improve the experience. Dinner at the hotel was also good overall. The quality of the food was high and the service was excellent, although some dishes could be more satisfying for the price, for example the grilled octopus was delicious but a bit small. The location is excellent, close to the beach, and the rooftop pool is a nice spot to relax. I imagine it could get busy in peak summer, although the nearby beach may help spread things out. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. With a few small improvements, this hotel could easily be outstanding but definitely a great place and I highly recommend. This is something the hotel does not clearly advertise: all rooms have direct entrances from the street. For me, this feels much closer to a 1-star motel experience rather than a hotel. The hotel is clearly designed for large tour groups. There are always many people around, and groups are offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which makes common areas and the restaurant quite crowded. We visited during the low season and were still surprised by how busy it felt. The buffet quality is mediocre — acceptable, but nothing special. We booked the most expensive and largest room (Room 505), and the layout is quite strange. There is a large square column in the middle of the room, awkwardly dividing the space. On the positive side, the view is excellent, the bed linen is very high quality, and housekeeping does a good job. One odd design choice: the wardrobes are covered with curtains instead of doors, which feels unusual and impractical. The bathroom amenities are nice, but surprisingly, there is no hair conditioner provided. Overall, there are some strong points, but several important details make the experience feel very different from what one would expect at this price level.
