Dona Filipa Hotel

Our stay was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! The location was perfect, close to the beach, bars and lots of great restaurants, which made everything so convenient. A special mention and huge thank you to Melani & Renato, who were so welcoming, helpful and always had a smile. They really made our stay extra special. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing — there wasn’t a single problem during our stay. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! 😊 Highly recommended!

Good hotel. One caveat, we went to play tennis but the hotel courts were under renovation. Call ahead to ask if complete before booking. They accomodated us with access to a nearby club, but it wasn't offered proactively. This is a nice boutique hotel, slightly tired, very nice guests as well, good breakfast if you like pastries and fruits like we did. Nice pool, great beach access. Not perfect, but if you want perfect go to the Ritz. It was very fine for 4-5 nights of family relaxation at a reasonable cost. The food at the beach was average, they could improve that with salads, tables and come see you more often. It's their loss because we didn't spend much money at the beach. Also this is NOT about their hotel, but the lifeguards (all of them) at the beach [probably municipal or federal employees] seem to focus more on their instagram feeds than the bathers in the sea. The lifeguards should be banned from using cell phones while on duty. I hope Portugal has tough Laws that if a lifeguard is found to be negligent that he or she will face serious consequences if they just couldn't let the instagram feed alone at the time of the mishap. Easy to prove since phones collect data ! I was shocked and even went up to the lifeguards and told them to focus on the kids in the sea. They didn't give a crap because they are Union protected. The hotel can pass on my comments to the local authorities.

We stayed here last weekend and had the most amazing time. It’s in the perfect location, the staff are wonderful, the food is beautiful and the bar staff are great. We had a few problems with leaving things behind and the staff have been absolutely fantastic.

I've stayed in many 5-star hotels around the world and I can honestly say that Hotel Dona Filipa was the worst experience I have had. In my opinion, this is closer to a 3- or 4-star hotel, and this review reflects my own experience only. To start with the positive points: the hotel is close to the beach, the swimming pool is pleasant and the breakfast is varied, even if it is still far from what I would expect from a true 5-star property. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay was disappointing. The hotel feels outdated and really needs a refresh. When I booked, I selected a “classic” room with no pictures, which felt like a deliberate way to sell rooms that nobody would choose if they could see them first. The room I was given was very old and had an extremely ugly view over the roof, full of machinery and air-exhaust metal blocks. I asked for another room and, of course, was offered a better one only with additional fees. In the end I paid 350 EUR per night for a room facing the street, with noise during the night, a very noisy air-conditioning system, and no gym or sauna. For 350 EUR per night, there are many better options in the area. I will never book this hotel again, and I do not recommend it at all. I also hope the manager responds to this review and takes it seriously: please avoid selling online room descriptions without photos, and please invest in a proper renovation so this hotel can finally match the standard it claims to offer. .
